Disclaimer: I do not own Sofia The First
"Are you coming to the party on Friday?"
Cedric shot the teenager, who was currently sitting on one of his tables and kicking her legs back and forth, an amused look. "If your father asks me to perform a show of some sort, then yes. But if you're asking if I intend to stick around for the celebration, then most likely not."
"Aww," she pouted. "How come?"
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Because unlike you, dear princess. I'm getting bit on in years, and could use an evening to rest."
Sofia giggled, "Oh Mr. Cedric. You're not that old; and I think you should come. Who knows, you might me someone special." she hinted playfully. "One you'd dazzle with your magical feats!"
The man blushed, "Yes, well," clearing his throat, "Even if that was the case. I don't imagined I'd make a much of an impression in the dancing arena. Which is typically what balls are for."
"Oh, I can help you with that." she stated
He raised a brow, "You?"
"Yep," getting down from her seat her grin widening. "Today you can be my apprentice for a change."
"Oh really?" he remarked, with an amused smile as she approached him. Though he made no effort to dissuade her from leading him into the center of his workshop.
Borrowing one of his wands Sofia cast a spell that caused music to play from an unknown source.
"Going all out, are were?" he teased.
She shrugged, "This just makes it more fun. Which is always the most important part you know." Taking his hands and positioning them just so, "Now!... one, two, three... one, two, three..."
They continued to dance around his workshop. Sofia leading at first, until he got a hang of the steps. Which didn't take long, as muscle memory from his dancing lessons as a youth kicked in. Allowing him to take the reigns as they waltzed to the melody she'd provided.
And it was fun, he had to admit. Swirling around the room with his dear little friend. Though he supposed she wasn't little anymore. The teenager now coming to his chest in height, and he had to wonder how much more she would grow in a few years. She was certainly on her way to being a beauty like her mother, and would likely have acquired many admirers by the time she reached adulthood.
His expression darkened for a moment at that thought, but he pushed it aside.
"What are you thinking about?" she pried.
His eyes met hers, and his expression softened again.
"Oh, just how much you've grown," he answered mostly honest, "And that this is actually quite fun."
She smiled, always please to see him happy, "Maybe, we could do this more often."
"Maybe..."
At one point he felt bold enough to give her a little dip. The princess giggling in delight just as a bell chimed. Indicating the new hour.
"That sounds like you'd better go down for supper before Baileywick has to come fetch you himself," he advised. Pulling her back up into a proper standing position.
"Yeah," she agreed, releasing his hands "Well, I think you've mastered ball room dancing well enough to charm any potential partners at the ball." She added with a wink.
He rolled his eyes at her continued pestering, but couldn't help but smile too. "We'll see. Now, off with you," urging her towards the door.
"Good night, Mr. Cedric," She smiled back one last time, before descending down the familiar steps again.
"Good night, Sofia."
It turns out Cedric did end up staying for the party; and while no one in particular caught his eye, he still had a wonderful time sharing a few dances with his favorite princess.
A/N: This is another one of those "transitioning from friends to lovers" cedfia stories. Hence it's use for the 'Change' prompt.
