The Ten Rings kill Tony Stark. Distraught, Ho Yinsen builds the Iron Man armor and escapes Afghanistan, escaping and defecting to the United States, giving the suit and Arc Reactor technology to James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Pepper Potts, who must use the suits to stop an company coup.

Mark Wingert as Tony Stark: An weapons arms dealer, manufacturer, the CEO of Stark Industries, the son of Howard and Maria Stark, and a self-described genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. Although he never dons the Iron Man suit, when Raza kills him, he is called the "Iron Man", with Raza saying "The Iron Man of weapons manufacturing is dead!" which is a reference to his nickname from most media.

Beth Hoyt as Pepper Potts / Iron Woman: Stark's assistant, who helps Rhodes duplicate the Arc Reactor. Edgbert explained that "Rescue" was never attended to be her codenamed and explained that Rhodes and Potts were partners.

Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes / Iron Man: An colonel lieutenant in the United States Air Force and Stark's childhood best friend, who blames the U.S. government and military for his death and quits the Air Force. Rhodes becoming Iron Man is a reference to storylines in the 1990s, where he donned the armor after Stark joined the West Coast Avengers. Cheadle reprises his role from previous MCU media.

Shaun Toub as Ho Yinsen: A fellow captive and doctor, who defected to the United States after escaping the cave. Toub reprises his role from previous MCU media.

Kiff VandelHueven as Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger: Stark's business second-in-command, mentor, and friend, who turns on him to take over the company, eventually building a giant exosuit to fight.

Leslie Bibb as Christine Everhart: A reporter for Vanity Fair. Bibb reprised her role from previous MCU media.

Faran Tahir as Raza: The leader of the Ten Rings. Tahir reprises his role from Iron Man (2008).

Paul Bettany as J.A.R.V.I.S.: Stark's artificial intelligence system that directs Potts and Rhodes during combat missions. Bettany reprises his role from previous MCU media.
