"Anti-heroes, walking a mysterious gray line between good and evil." Wiz starts the episode.
"They do what they want, however they want, when they want." Boomstick said.
"Vegeta, Prince of the Saiyans and rival to Goku."
"And Shadow, the Ultimate Life Form and rival to Sonic."
"I'm Wizard and he's Boomstick, and it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win… a Death Battle."
"Ooh, anti-heroes are awesome! This should be great." Yang said. Blake smiled, as anti-heroes were a guilty pleasure for her… for reasons.
"Are we going to gloss over Shadow here? Like what type of creature is he?" Weiss asked.
"We've seen a walking mushroom with fangs and a tomato with eyes. And you're still being surprised by things that shouldn't exist?" Blake asked her.
"...She has a point." Ren said.
"Shut it you."
"Born a prince to the warrior-like Saiyan race, Vegeta's people were slaughtered by an evil tyrant named Frieza, who molded Vegeta into a deadly, ruthless killer." Wiz explained. "Over time, however, Frieza's iron grip over him led Vegeta to rebel, ushering Frieza's final defeat with the help of fellow Saiyan, Goku. After struggling with adapting to life on Earth, Vegeta eventually became one of the planet's strongest defenders."
That made everyone feel sorry for Vegeta, but turned around when they mention he became a good guy later.
"It's horrible what happened to his people." Pyrrha said.
"And then to be turned into a monster by the same person who killed your people…" Blake said sadly, as she could've easily turned into a monster herself for the way her people have been oppressed.
"He made the quite the turnaround however." Ren gave Vegeta credit.
"Hell yeah." Yang said.
"He even got hitched to Bulma, breaking poor Master Roshi's heart." Boomstick joked. "Vegeta can move and fly at hypersonic speed. He can survive underwater and in far outer atmospheres for long periods of time. He even has the endurance to survive a nuclear freakin' blast."
"Woah! That's impressive!" Pyrrha said.
"Okay, sure he can move pretty fast…" Ruby looked down, feeling less impressive with her semblance.
"Vegeta can use a natural inner energy called ki to create devastating attacks." Wiz explains.
"His trademark attack is a purple laser called the Galick Gun." Boomstick says.
"His Big Bang Attack unleases a huge explosion of energy covering a vast distance, and can be narrowed to a beam for concentrated accuracy."
"He can launch a volley of energy bullets, pounding his foe with dozens of deadly blasts, but his most devastating move is his Final Flash attack, a huge golden beam that can destroy whole planets."
"Destroy whole what now?!" Jaune shouted.
"Did he say destroy whole planets?" Blake asked.
"I think he did say destroy whole planets." Ruby answered.
"KABOOM!" Nora helped everyone get the picture.
"How powerful is this guy…?" Weiss asked.
"Vegeta's ki is quite versatile and not limited to these four attacks. He is never without a weapon." Wiz goes further.
"But wait, there's more!" Boomstick says like he's in a Billy Mays commercial.
"That's right! Vegeta can reach to the legendary status of Super Saiyan, a near indestructible form which increases his power output by 500%"
"Wait… What the… Plagiarism!" Yang shouts, alluding to the fact her hair does the same thing sometimes!
"Yang, calm down! This might be entirely different, who knows." Pyrrha says, trying to calm down the blonde.
"And he can take this form to the next level for yet another 500% increase. That's a lot of power in math." Boomstick said.
"The Super Saiyan form is sustained through Vegeta's remaining energy. Also, despite reaching the level of Super Saiyan 4, he was only able to do so with Bulma's Blutz Wave Machine, and cannot do so naturally." Wiz says.
"And in Death Battle, we don't allow help from spouses."
"Vegeta is cocky, arrogant, and proud. He seeks to be the best and is willing to fight the best to do so."
"Ha, sounds like our ice queen over here." Yang said.
"What?!" Weiss asks offended. "How dare you compare an elegant princess like myself to that brute."
"I don't think you're helping your point, Weiss." Ruby told her teammate.
"Even allowing his opponents to reach power levels much greater than his own." Wiz says.
"While this has led to him dying twice so far, he's still around somehow kicking ass and being a dick.
"I am a Super Saiyan!" Vegeta yells.
The screen flashes as Vegeta puts his hands out in front of him preparing an attack.
"AND YOU CAN BURN IN HELL!"
"I like this Vegeta guy. I bet he and I would get along." Nora said.
"I don't know about that one, Nora…" Pyrrha said.
"...No seriously, how are we alike?" Weiss asked.
"Nothing, my dear princess." Yang apologizes with a bow. "Would you like me to get you anything?"
"Built by Professor Gerald Robotnik with alien DNA, Shadow the Hedgehog was created to be the Ultimate Life Form." Wiz introduces Vegeta's opponent. "Despite being a powerful, living weapon, Shadow's initial purpose was to provide genes capable of curing the deathly ill, specifically, Gerald's granddaughter, Maria. But before Shadow could be shared with the world, tragedy struck."
Wiz says the last point as we see a comic panel of Maria being shot in the back.
"They killed her?!" Blake asked with some anger.
"She was just a little girl. Why would they do that?" Ruby asked with some sadness.
"I can see where this is going." Yang said.
"Then Shadow went crazy and tried to destroy the Earth for revenge, but he ended up saving the day instead." Boomstick says. "Though people are still getting sick on Earth, so uhh… guess he kinda forgot about that whole living cure thing, huh?"
"Yeah, that's about what I expected." Yang said. "Wasn't expecting the saving the day part though."
"It seems that they pick opponents that are similar to each other. I've noticed that a lot of fights we've seen have been between people who have similar backstories or similar abilities, so we should expect every fight to be that way." Ren said.
"That's right." Blake said with a smile, seeing how Shadow turned around like Vegeta did. Both of these fighters give Blake hope that she might be able to redeem herself someday.
"Shadow can move at hypersonic speeds and survive underwater and in space." Wiz says.
"He's even tough enough to survive a fall to the Earth from the moon, and that's one long ass fall." Boomstick said.
"Good gods!" Weiss said.
"I don't care how strong you are. How are you supposed to survive a fall like that?!" Jaune asked.
"Well, it wasn't exactly the moon, but Shadow survived a fall of about 200,000 miles. By the time he hit the ground, he was falling at a rate of over 6 million feet per second." Wiz says.
"I feel sorry for whatever was around when he landed. Some guy just walking along and… (indistinct) OH MY GOD!"
"That's completely insane." Blake says.
"Okay, so we know he's tough too." Yang says.
"Right. Shadow possesses a natural link to the Chaos Force, a never ending pool of unbelievable energy." Wiz explains.
"He can fire several different energy based projectiles like Chaos Spears and Beams. But his most powerful attack is Chaos Blast, a huge explosion which annihilates everything around him in seconds." Boomstick says further.
"OOOH. That boom I could make if I could use Chaos Force!" Nora said.
"Hopefully that never happens…" Weiss says.
"He can also manipulate time and space with Chaos Control, though depending on the situation, using this technique to its fullest takes time and is impractical in combat." Wiz continues. "Also, Shadow wears two Inhibitor Rings, which restrict his access to the Chaos Force to maintain control. Should he remove them, his power increases immensely, but is somewhat uncontrollable and quickly tires him out."
"His Chaos power also increases depending on the number of Chaos Emeralds he has, and when he gets seven of them, ha, he goes super." Boomstick says.
"Super Shadow is the pinnacle of his powers, receiving a 1,000% increase."
"More plagiarism!" Yang yells. "I won't stand for… this." Yang slumps, feeling a little less special than she did before they started this episode.
"It's okay, Yang. You're still my big sister and I love you." Ruby says, giving Yang a hug.
"Thanks Ruby." Yang said. Jaune noticed this and tried to get a hug from Weiss.
"Not in this lifetime." Weiss harshly shuts him down.
"He can fly, move near the speed of light, and is totally invincible." Boomstick explains.
"Despite this, Shadow's super form can only last a few minutes." Wiz says.
"But, considering his super speed, a short time to him is a long time to his opponents."
We see Shadow standing on a lamppost, holding a Chaos Emerald.
"That's not all, I'm full of surprises." Shadow says.
"Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all."
"It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!"
Shadow is skating from his hover shoes in a green field. He then stops in front of Vegeta, whose back is turned.
"There you are! I knew I sensed an extraordinary power around here." Shadow tells him.
"Ooooh. We have voice acting for this one?" Ruby asked.
"Well, that makes this a little more interesting." Jaune says.
"I can't wait to see this fight!" Nora sat eagerly, while Blake didn't know who to root for as she admired both of them.
"Well that certainly sounds like me." Vegeta says before he turns around to face Shadow. "Ummm… who and what are you?"
"I am Shadow the Hedgehog. The Ultimate Life Form."
"Ultimate Life Form? A weird looking rat, is an Ultimate Life Form? HAHAHAHA! That's a laugh."
"Are you sure you have no relation to this guy, Weiss." Yang asked.
"Fine. You got me. I tried to keep it secret." Weiss says with a roll of her eyes.
"He's underestimating Shadow. That could be a mistake." Ren says.
"We've seen Shadow is no pushover." Pyrrha said.
"Word of advice, freak: you're a little on the short side to try to be threatening." Vegeta tells him.
"Funny, I was going to say the same thing about you." Shadow hits back.
"Hey! Us short people take offense to that!" Ruby says, not taking kindly to both their insults.
"HA! I'm rooting for Shadow now for that comeback." Yang says.
"You've just sealed your fate, fool."
FIGHT!
Shadow launches a kick at Vegeta, but the latter catches the former's feet, kicks him off. Vegeta then charges a blast of purple ki energy in his hands before blasting it at Shadow.
"GALICK GUN, FIRE!!" Vegeta shouts as he fires the blast, hitting Shadow, who survives and is still standing, but already exhausted. "Pathetic. Before you die, let me show you a TRUE Ultimate Life Form!"
Vegeta powers up immensely, aura surrounding him, and his dark, gravity defying hair now glows blonde, becoming the legendary status of Super Saiyan.
"Hahaha! Tell me, hedgehog, does a lab rat like yourself experience fear?" Vegeta asks him.
"Okay, I didn't know we were busting out the heavy artillery already." Jaune says.
"That Galick Gun took a lot out of Shadow already." Weiss says.
"Don't worry about Shadow. He's about to hit back!" Yang says confidently.
"You have… no idea… WHO YOU'RE DEALING WITH!" Shadow yells before heaps into the air and surrounds himself with all seven Chaos Emeralds.
"What's this?" Vegeta asks.
After he taps into the power of the seven Emeralds, he turns from a black to a yellow lime colored hedgehog with a bright glow and aura, becoming Super Shadow.
"Behold the true power I possess!" Shadow says.
"Wow… what a rip-off." Vegeta says unimpressed.
Vegeta gets attacked by Shadow, blocking a melee receiving from the bio-engineered hedgehog. Afterwards, Shadow side kicks Vegeta, leaving projectiles of Chaos energy after hitting Vegeta seven times. Shadow snaps his finger and one of them explodes, sending Vegeta into the other spheres of energy. Vegeta crash lands on the ground, and Shadow then launches a barrage of his Chaos Spears at Vegeta,
"This fight might be my favorite so far." Yang says.
"Come on, Vegeta. Get him." Nora cheers.
"But Shadow is invincible in this state, they said that." Pyrrha points out.
"His only chance is outlasted Shadow's time." Weiss says.
"But Vegeta jumps up and knees Shadow in the abdomen, kicks him, and then launches a volley of Energy Bullets. But when the smoke clears, Shadow is gone.
"Wha-Where did he go?" Vegeta asks.
"Right behind you."
Vegeta turns and charges a blast of energy, but before he can blast it at Shadow, the latter snaps his finger, teleporting the former underwater.
"He can teleport people too?" Jaune asks.
"Ah that's just not fair!" Ruby says.
"Shadow is making a mistake. He's playing with Vegeta when he should be finishing him off." Blake says.
"...The hell? How did I get here?" Vegeta asks with a groan.
We see Shadow floating above the water.
"Hmph. That was easier than I thought. I guess I'm better than-" Shadow starts to say before Vegeta flies out, full of rage.
"SHIT!" Shadow yells, startled.
"Cheap trick teleporting me underwater, coward! Cut the act and give up already! You're nothing compared to me!" Vegeta boasts before Shadow snaps his finger again.
This time, Shadow teleports Vegeta to the Earth's moon.
"God dammit." Vegeta says.
"Wait, their moon isn't shattered." Ruby asks.
"Um, why would it be?" Weiss asked her leader.
"Uhhh… no reason."
"Did you think that our was always like that?"
"No…! Maybe…"
"So uh, what's Vegeta supposed to do now?" Jaune asks.
"Hmph." Shadow simply hums as he watches the moon from Earth.
"Playtime's over, runt!" Vegeta declares before he punches the surface of the moon, pushing it towards Earth.
The jaws of everybody dropped.
"What is he doing?!" Ren asks.
"Is he really that angry that he's willing to push the moon into the Earth?!" Pyrrha asks.
"Ya know it… It's insanity… but that badass!" Yang admits.
"Does Shadow have an answer to that?" Blake asks.
"No! Is he insane?!" Shadow yells before he takes off his inhibitor rings and glows bright red. "CHAOS… CONTROL!"
Shadow teleports the moon back in its place.
"Phew. That was a close call." Ruby wipes the sweat from her brow.
"What a careless fool! Doesn't he have a wife on this planet too? Jeez!" Weiss says.
"Yes. I did it!" Shadow celebrates.
"Congrats, furball." Vegeta says as he appears behind Shadow.
"It's time to end this!" Shadow declares.
Shadow starts glowing bright red, charging his Chaos Blast while Vegeta braces for it.
"Ooh, this is it!" Yang says.
"Welp, so long Vegeta." Jaune says.
"Hold on, how long has it been since Shadow turned into Super Shadow?" Pyrrha asks.
"Probably a few minu-" Ruby answers before she realizes what Pyrrha's getting at. "Oh no."
"Chaos… BLAS-"
However, Super Shadow wears off just before the attack can finish.
"Uh oh." Shadow says, knowing he's in deep shit.
"Sayonara." Vegeta says goodbye to Shadow before he fires the Final Flash at him, vaporizing the latter into smoke.
K.O.!
"NOOO! Edgy boy!" Yang cries in despair.
"He played with Vegeta for too long." Blake says.
"He probably didn't realize Vegeta can survive in space, at least temporarily, and thought it was over at that point." Ren pointed out.
"Haha! Getes wins!" Nora boasts.
"Oh, somebody call PETA, we're down a hedgehog!" Boomstick says.
"With Super Shadow's godly power and invulnerability, the question wasn't if Vegeta could kill Shadow, it was if Vegeta could survive Super Shadow." Wiz explains.
"But Vegeta's proven time after time he can take one hell of a beating and lasted long enough for Shadow to turn back to normal, giving Vegeta the opening he needed."
"His loud mouth certainly helped him in his past, too."
"Looks like Shadow's time was up."
"The winner is Vegeta."
"You guys may call him reckless, but you can't deny he's a tough son a bitch." Yang tells him.
"True. I'll give him that, he's a strong warrior." Pyrrha admits.
"But was one random rodent worth the colossal damage the moon would've done if it struck the earth?" Weiss asks.
"I don't think so, but he won didn't he?" Ruby said.
"I kinda wanted to the boom." Nora admitted, which made everybody gasp. "Oh come on guys, it's not like any of this is real, right?"
Nora says with a wink.
"Uh, Nora, what are you winking at?" Jaune asks.
"Nothing, my eye twitched." Nora answers.
