Chapter 6: Capture the Flag

Annabeth asked, " What's her problem?"

Percy replied, "Just a daughter of Aphrodite, who can't take a hint. Seriously, the day I date a daughter of Aphrodite is the day I lose all my sanity and forget everything Lady Enyo taught me."

Annabeth asked, "What's your type then?"

Percy replies, "I'm looking for the warrior princess type; I'm looking for someone who's not afraid to fight."

Annabeth said, "Well, that leaves Selena at the Aphrodite cabin."

Percy said, "She has eyes for a certain son of Hephaestus, and besides that, if we're going by the rules of dating, I'm looking for something more than just a fling. Someone who's not afraid to fight but still retains her femininity."

Annabeth walked away satisfied with what she had received, and headed for the Apollo cabin to strike a deal.

A few days later...

It was the day of the Capture the Flag, and the Athena Cabin had taken advantage of Percy's training with Enyo throughout the day, leading up to the event. The Hermes kids had been on a mass pranking spree, sabotaging the competition by messing with their equipment, key players, and causing discord among the ranks. They were treating this like real war.

Annabeth explained the plan to everyone in the tree tops. The Apollo kids would take different routes leading to the flag, while the Hermes kids were double-checking traps they had built and planted days before. The plan was simple: remove key players from the field and further weaken them with faulty equipment. Traps were set; more manpower would be added to the frontline.

They also added a little surprise for the enemy for a little shock factor, but a general doesn't give away all their secrets. Like I said, the plan was simple; Apollo's kids and the two guards were on the front lines, while Annabeth led the assault team and Percy had the first line of defense. The second line was led by the camp counselor Will Solace, and the last line was Luke and the other boy named Ethan.

Chiron blew the horn and the game began. The assault team took their time to avoid the trap that might have been set by the Hephaestus Cabin. The opponents did not have that luxury; they needed to strike hard, strike fast, and with no mercy – to sum it all up in one word: Blitzkrieg.

Unfortunately, they did not have the time to properly plan it out; so, it was essentially a glorified Hail Mary charge. Using his abilities, Percy calmed his side down and told them to hold their positions. He said, "Hold your positions, wait for the first line to cross the stream... Shark Tooth."

Shark Tooth was Percy's first pet project. It was the combination of two divine metals: celestial bronze and imperial gold. The shaft of the weapon was made out of the former, while the spearhead was the latter. The name "Shark Tooth" came from its unique-shaped spearhead, which was modeled after the tooth of a megalodon shark. And by "modeled," I mean it looked and acted exactly like a megalodon's tooth.

As soon as the first person crossed the boundary, Percy and his group attacked. Most of their opponents broke away, allowing Percy's team to pursue the flag. Percy shouted, "I want a phalanx push to keep them from advancing any farther!"

Percy continued, "I don't want them getting past us on the left."

Percy ran into battle, trying to take as many out as he could with as little affect as possible. Percy was using his spear similar to a bo staff plowing though men like a daughter of Aphrodite in a clothing store. Then Percy saw Clarisse charging for him spear in hand, the two were in a deadlock Percy managed to push her back Percy said, " Time for a change in tactic Ebony and Ivory (έβενο και ελεφαντόδοντο)."

Percy held Ebony in reverse grip and Ivory normal. Clarisse made the first move and Percy redirected the blow, getting into her guard and striking her face with his elbow. Clarisse tried something different, striking at Percy's face with the shaft of the weapon; Percy blocked with Ebony.

Percy said, "Looks like some of your men have found our traps."

Clarisse was get frustrated and Percy manipulating her emotions toward rage was not helping.

Percy said, "Storm Shredder."

Percy's scythe was at the ready, and he was prepared to continue this fight; Clarisse, as rash as she was, made the first move by charging forward with her spear. Percy countered by using the shaft of his scythe to spin Clarisse's spear, giving him a wider reach. Percy took advantage of this opportunity, and he struck at Clarisse. She jumped back to avoid the blow. Percy demonstrated his mastery over the weapons he wielded; every movement was efficient and purposeful.

Clarisse was being pushed back; nothing she tried was helping. It was like trying to break down a wall with your bare hands. Percy managed to disarm her, then held the blade to her neck. A few minutes later, everyone heard something being pounded into the ground, but no one saw anything. Then another Gremory appeared, standing there with a baseball cap in one hand and the flag in the other.

Clarisse asked, "How?"

Percy said, "Elementary, my dear Clarisse."

Clarisse blushed a bit at that and then someone shouted, "Hellhound!"

Percy turned and was almost upon him when he summoned a wave. Chiron shot an arrow to finish it off, but before anyone could say anything else happened. Everyone gasped as Chiron said, "It is determined."

Everyone got on one knee, Chiron continued, "Poseidon……. Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, son of the sea god."

Percy looked around and when he saw Annabeth, his heart ached. Annabeth's face was filled with horror, and she seemed to realize how much pain she had caused him; so she simply bowed her head.
