Chapter 13
Kagome gave a small smile, "You know, for a so called God of lies...you tell the truth a lot more than you think." Loki snorted, giving her an incredulous look .
"So you think you have me figured out do you?" She merely shook her head, leaning on the window sill.
"No, that would be presumptuous of me...I just think there's a lot more to you let yourself think there is." She glanced down at the world below and let out a sigh. How she missed her home...this place...it would never be home.
Not now, not ever.
Loki gave a grunt, taking in her profile, she was dressed in a dark blue dress, her hair in a loose braid. One her head was a dainty crown marking her as the future Queen of the lands. She was so small, so fragile yet she proved she could handle much.
While he was no woman, at the moment, he knew that such heartbreak and betrayal would have broken lesser women. Yet here she was, her head held high.
She held pride, she was wise and didn't let her emotions cloud her judgment, she was everything a proper queen should be. "You are a waste on him."
He hadn't meant to speak the words out loud yet he would not try to take them back like a bumbling fool. He was waiting for her retort, no doubt a witty or snarky comment. He readied one of his own.
Kagome merely gave a small humorless laugh and met his gaze head on. "Thanks, I guess." It was then that he frowned, he had hoped to hurt his brother dearest by turning his blushing bride against him, to break her.
Yet it was plain to see the fool had done it on his own.
In the days that followed her first civil encounter with Loki, Kagome found herself drawn back to the enigmatic prisoner. Their conversations had continued, and despite Loki's initial cruelty, their interactions had taken an unexpected turn. They began to talk about their pasts, their regrets, and their hopes. Kagome saw glimpses of vulnerability beneath Loki's facade of arrogance and malice, and she couldn't help but feel a strange kinship with him.
Their discussions were a peculiar blend of philosophical debates and personal confessions. Loki's sharp wit and intellect matched Kagome's own, and as they delved deeper into each other's minds, they formed an unusual connection that transcended the boundaries of their differences.
Thor, on the other hand, was not pleased with Kagome's newfound friendship with his imprisoned brother. He couldn't understand why she would willingly associate with someone as treacherous as Loki. However, he was preoccupied with his own excitement.
For Thor, the moment he had been waiting for had finally arrived. He had been granted permission to bring Jane to Asgard, and he was eager to reunite with the woman he loved. His heart swelled with anticipation, and he decided to surprise Kagome with the news that a fellow Midgardian was now in Asgard.
But as he stood before Kagome, her expression shifting from confusion to shock, he realized that he had made a grave mistake.
"You brought her here?" She paused letting out a humorless snort as she shook her head. "Of course you did...that was the whole reason for our marriage wasn't it?" She ran a hand over her face before forcing a smile.
"Well I hope you two are happy." With that she turned on her heel and walked away from both of them, a glaring Sif at her side.
Sif had never wanted to throttle Thor more than she had now. Just when she thought he could fall no lower, he proved her wrong. This, this, she could not sugar coat and blame on the way he was raised, while it was common for men of high stature to take on lovers it was never okay to flaunt them in front of your wife.
Love in the marriage or not.
She stole a glance at her lady and felt pride well in her, she was stone faced and regal as she walked away from her husband and his lover. She had always wanted to be 'one of the boys' yet she hoped that one day she would be one half of the woman next to her.
Thor frowned as his wife and close friend walked away from him, feeling like he had wronged her in a grave way once again. Yet he quickly turned his attention to Jane, who was frowning. He placed a gentle hand on her arm and guided her in the opposite direction that Kagome had taken. "Come, I've much to show you."
Jane merely let herself be led away, feeling much like the other woman, it made her feel guilty. While he had explained the situation to her, he had made it sound like a cold business deal yet she knew by the way Kagome looked at them that it was more than just that to her. Yet, she could not really force herself to care, Thor loved her, he had chosen her and in her defense, she had known and loved him long before Kagome came into the picture.
Yet deep down she knew, she knew it was wrong of her to feel that way. Yet as Thor pulled her close, his scent washing over her as he happily told her of this and that she could only focus on her own happiness at the moment.
