TLWtlw Scarlett doesn't have a helper angel because her soul is not in jeopardy. Rhett's guardian angel had a nervous breakdown because Rhett would never listen. I have not introduced a guardian angel for Scarlett.

Chapter Fifty-Six

Marvin was so pleased with himself for his idea of creating conflict between Rhett and Scarlett that he had to go and brag to someone. He decided to brag to Peggy. He thought Peggy was an incredibly attractive demon. When he found her, he said, "You can thank me later, but I created more pain and agony in Scarlett's life."

Peggy looked at Marvin with anger and disgust. She said, "I don't need your help with my assignments. What did you do so I know whether I need to fix it or not."

"It seems they have gotten married."

"Yeah, that plan backfired. I had her sister send her a telegram from her husband stating that he wanted to come back home. Because he had contacted her…."

"I know what happened." Actually, Marvin didn't, but he didn't want to hear other demons talking. He just wanted to talk and have them worship him or at least be in awe of his greatness. Marvin said, "I whispered in her ear while they were doing the rumpy pumpy."

"The what?!"

"Fornicating."

"Just say that next time. Or better yet just say fucking. You are extremely weird Marvin and that is saying a lot considering all the strange people in the dark realm."

"Anyway, while they were fucking." Marvin had stressed the word fucking. Peggy had rolled her eyes. He continued, "I whispered in Scarlett's ear while he was tasting the rainbow, 'I wonder how many other women he has done that with, especially Belle."

"Who is Belle again?"

"The whore that Rhett cheated on Scarlett with."

"That's right. Was that you?"

"What do you mean?"

"Did you instigate that? It made my job easier. She was in a lot of pain and unhappiness."

"I suggested to him that the easiest way for him to hurt his wife like she was hurting him was to cheat on her with a whore."

"I remember that incident now. Not only did he cheat on her, but he told everyone in town about it. That did cause Scarlett a lot of pain. Not just your guy cheating on her, but everyone knowing about it."

"It was the whore that told everyone."

"Did you whisper that suggestion in her ear?"

"Yeah, it found quite fertile soil in Belle."

"She loved him?"

"No. She just wanted to keep Rhett unhappy so she could keep her tentacles in him. That worked out great when he moved to New York. She was left high and dry."

"I guess that cause this Belle unhappiness and pain."

"Yes, although she already has a pretty miserable life."

"Tell me in plain English what was he doing."

"He went down on her."

"Where did you get 'tasting the rainbow?"

"Never mind. So much for their wedded bliss."

"Where was Odbody? He should be standing guard over his charge."

"I don't know. I don't care."

"Isn't that just like Odbody to leave his charge unguarded?"

"Yep. Enough about that loser Goof body. I have some free time on my hands if you want to do the rumpy pumpy."

"Hell no! Go away. I would tell you to go to hell, but we are already here. No, never mind I will go away."

With that Peggy disappeared. Marvin looked at the place where she had been standing and shrugged his shoulders.

While Rhett was visiting the privy later that night, he told Clarence what had happened. Clarence said, "That was probably Marvin. He knew better than to try to influence you, so he went for the weaker person, Scarlett. She is weak because she doesn't know to be on guard."

"And I can't tell her, or I will sound like I am crazy."

"I will think of something to combat this, but try not to take Scarlett's statements at face value."

"All right. Buddy, you said you had read my history. You also said you knew what I had said and what Scarlett had said."

"Yes."

"Is there a way I can read what Scarlett said to me when I proposed. I think she told me everything I needed to know in that moment to make her happy, but I wasn't listening."

"Let me find out."

"Thanks."

The next morning, Rhett was woken up by Scarlett. She had not intentionally woken him up. He didn't know what she was dreaming about, but he knew it involved him in some way. She was grinding herself against him in the most erotic way. He didn't want her to wake up completely. Just enough to let him know she was aware of what they were doing.

Afterward Scarlett said, "Do all these different positions have names?"

Rhett stopped himself from laughing at the innocence of the question. He said, "No, most of them don't. Are you wondering about which position is the missionary position?"

"No, I know which one that is. It was the only position I knew of before you. Why is it called that?"

"The legend goes - early European missionaries saw natives having intercourse in various ways and for reasons unknown, decided that the only proper way to be joined as one with your beloved is prone with the man on top. I have often wondered if the woman getting on top, is the heathen position."

Rhett laughed at his joke and Scarlett smiled. She said, "I can get on top."

"Yes, and I think you would like it a lot."

"What else?"

"I will introduce these positions slowly into our love life as not to overwhelm you."

"All right, but let's try another position tonight."

"All right, Honey."

The couple laid there for a minute until Scarlett whispered, "How did the missionaries find out what positions the natives were using? Did the natives do it in public? Or did the missionaries spy on them."

On that Rhett did burst out laughing. Scarlett was smiling at him like she had intended to make him laugh. He hoped she had. He said, "I don't know, but either way there were some naughty people."

"Yes, there were. Now get up and go get me something to eat. I'm starving and I know starving."

Rhett started to cruelly say, "You know nothing about starving. At least, you had people to help you."

Instead, he said, "I know about starving also."

Scarlett smiled and said, "I guess you do. You were in the Confederate army."

Rhett climbed out of the bed and kissed his wife. He had stopped himself from saying something hurtful about her not knowing anything about starving, but she did know about starving. She and her family had starved after he left her at Rough and Ready until she married Frank. Yes, she had people around her, but that was a two-edged sword. She wasn't alone, but she had to share what food she had with everyone else. Moreover, she had to listen to everyone whine about being hungry.

That is what Rhett had done to Scarlett their first timeline. He had belittled her suffering because in his opinion it hadn't been as bad as his had been. How can you compare one person's suffering to another person's suffering? Maybe hers wasn't as bad as his, but it had been bad, nonetheless.

Rhett had learned about starving after he was thrown out of his father's home. As he put his clothes on, he watched her. He guessed she did know about starving. She had starved for eighteen months, hadn't she.

Fully dressed Rhett came over to the bed and sat down, he said, "Scarlett, I will make sure that you and yours will never literally starve again."

Scarlett looked up at Rhett with her love showing on her face. She said, "And I will do everything I can do to make sure you never starve again either."

"Thank you."

Rhett kissed her and left the suite. He said, "Clarence, materialize."

"Yes, Rhett."

"How can I stop myself from saying mocking, cruel things to Scarlett? Most time they are out of my mouth before I know what is coming out of my mouth."

"I don't know. Think about what you are saying. Try to remember all the times your words have hurt her and haven't done any good."

"I'll try, but it is going to be hard."

"I think the change has to come from deep inside you. You have been hurting people with your words all your life."

Rhett turned to argue with Clarence. Rhett closed his mouth and stomped off. Clarence wondered where Rhett thought he was going that Clarence couldn't follow him.

Clarence dematerialized and followed Rhett. The man wasn't in the mood to talk right now.

Rhett got all the food and returned to the stairs. As he was walking up the stairs, he said, "People can't hurt me if I keep them away with mocking comments."

Clarence replied, "Despite all the mocking, ugly comments you made to her during your first marriage she still managed to hurt you."

"True."

"And do you really want to keep her away. Don't you want to be one with her in body, mind, and soul."

"Yes."

"Then I think you need to give her some trust."

Rhett didn't answer. He just continued walking up the stairs.

At last, Rhett said, "What do you mean give her some trust?"

"Trust that the words coming out of her mouth are not intended to hurt you. They are just innocent words."

"Innocent words that I turn into poisonous darts."

"Yeah. She is unaware that her words hurt you thus when you lash out at her to her it is an unprovoked attack."

"Destroying what trust she has in me."

Rhett walked the rest of the way up the stairs in silence. Clarence would not bring the subject back up. Rhett had to accept that truth on his own.

Through their time in New Orleans, Rhett had gotten Scarlett to not put on her nightgown before they went to bed. She would get up and put it on afterwards, of course, but at least during the act she was not wearing it.

That night Rhett had tried to make Scarlett get on top. She refused. After quite a struggle, Rhett said, "Damn it, Scarlett, why not? I have seen it all before."

"I feel too exposed while sitting on you."

Rhett took a deep breath and said, "Go put your nightgown on."

Scarlett got up and hurriedly put her nightgown on. She came back and got back into the bed. The next time Rhett tried to get her to sit on him, she gladly agreed. Afterwards, once she had caught her breath, she said, "I like that."

Rhett roared with laughter. He said, "I would say so. I had a particularly good time." Scarlett hid her face on his chest. He hugged her and said, "Have I ever told you that watching you be excited is extremely exciting to me?"

Rhett heard a muffled, "Really?"

"Really. When are you going to see a doctor to confirm that you are with child?"

"When we get to Boston."

"Why not sooner?"

Scarlett pushed herself up on his chest and said, "Why? I know how to have a baby." Scarlett looked at Rhett. She could tell he was disappointed. She knew he wanted to redo the baby announcement because last time she had told him, screamed at him, then threatened to murder his baby. She said, "Congratulations, Rhett, you are going to be a father."

A big smile spread across Rhett's face. He looked so happy. Scarlett said, "She is due in February. I think she is going to be born on February the second."

"I'm so happy. I'm happy I got you back. And now I am going to get her back also. I will be so careful that nothing happens to her."

"We will try our best to make sure nothing happens to her, but sometimes fate has other plans. We will love her and adore her as long as we have her."

"But not spoil her."

"We might spoil her a little bit. It is hard not to when money is no object. I have bought the children so many presents."

"I miss them too."

The next morning when Rhett went downstairs to get their breakfast, he called for Clarence. He was disappointed that the angel showed up. Rhett quipped, "It is a good thing I am taking care of myself. It might take me another twenty years to earn that final piece of trust."

"True, but don't give up."

"No, I won't. There is too much at stake."

"True."
