Chapter 5 Megatron's plan
one hour earlier
Megatron and Darkscream were returning to Nemesis . It was strange that the signal of the ship , which they picked up was currently in space. This information surprised Darkscream and she guessed that something must have happened in their absence .
When they boarded the deck they saw a lot of damaged Venicons lying around, but that wasn't the only thing that was a concern. Megatron looked very angry after seeing the damage to the most important part of the ship , which was the interstellar navigation system used to track Cybertron . Without it, the space bridge could not be activated.
Darkscream seeing that Megatron was pissed off, she freaked out and stepped back slightly when he looked at her. She knew Starscream was going to be in a lot of trouble, and she probably was too.
''What is all this supposed to mean?!''- he shouted to her at which she flinched .
Before she could answer, Megatron grabbed her and pushed her to the floor, holding her neck.
''AT THIS MOMENT EXPLAIN!'' He roared at her.
Darkscream couldn't pull Megaton's servo back, and although she was horrified, she had to try to explain it all.
''Lord ... Megatron . I swear that ... I had no...idea ….about it . Her throat hurt from the pressure of Megatron . She tried to keep talking despite the difficulties: ( groans of pain) Besides ….I was with…. you all ….the time...my lord . Don't….. you remember?''
Megatron thought for a moment, then released her. He had to admit that she was somewhat right about that. He kept an eye on her the entire time they were on a mission together and didn't see her trying to contact anyone or that anyone was contacting her. Speaking of trials. Megatron had a normal expression on his face for a moment, and then the thought came to him whose job it was. Without waiting any longer, he moved toward the command room.
He was followed by Darkscream . She quickly recovered from Megatron's attack. Fortunately, she did not have any marks on her neck indicating that there had been some sort of clash.
Upon reaching his destination, Megatron did not refrain from punching Starscream in the face and showing his angry face. Starscream tried to somehow reassure his master and convince him that he had good intentions. Megatron, however, did not believe a word he said and hit him a few more times, and when Stasrcream mentioned Optimus this one pressed him to the floor. Darkscream couldn't do anything at first, because Megatron forbade her to get close and threatened to meet the same fate if she interfered . However, as Megatron pressed Starscream to the floor, Darkscream did not hesitate and wanted to step in , but she was prevented by Soundwave who caught her and held her down . Darkscream didn't expect Soundwave to stop her and his strength was unmatched even for his build. He even blocked her mouth with one of his tentacles to prevent her from trying to say anything.
Starscream managed to calm the Lord down after a while after discussing his contingency plan . Megatron listened to Stasrcream's plan and decided to carry it out if it became clear that the interstellar navigation system would not be able to work . After that Soundwave let go of Darskcream.
It was decided to start the plan the next day, when Soundwave will collect data on the location of the place designated by Starscream. Megatron, despite the fact that his second in command had a contingency plan to continue its implementation, did not change his attitude towards him. He looked with the same expression on his face at Darkscream as well. With a quick movement of his head, he ordered her to follow him. Darkscream guessed why she is the one who has to go and not Starscream who just got up from the floor . For a moment she looked at Starscream with a sad expression , which she quickly changed and followed Megaton .
Just as Darkscream surmised Megatron told her to take care of the communications dish (destroyed by Bulkhead) and try to fix it. When necessary, Darkscream, in addition to his role as commander ( actually Starscream's deputy ) , also acts as a so-called mechanical engineer. She can repair and invent all sorts of things , although with a slight limitation by the lack of equipment she used on Cybertron ( most likely destroyed during the war ) . She also knows the construction of cybertronians, but she is limited in this category, as she is obviously not a medic like Ratchet, but she knows the construction of both airborne and partially ground-based types of cybertronians, which allows her to help to some extent.
Darkscream sometimes wondered why she always had to fix complicated devices and monitors when Soundwave could take care of that too, but Megatron didn't care.
She didn't even understand those venicons of lower ranks in class of repairs , to whom she always had to explain where to put what to avoid unexpected damage or explosions. She would get upset when an item was incorrectly placed or they themselves didn't know where to put what and at the last moments she had to correct their mistakes. The Venicons were as scared of Darkscream as they were of Starscream, they didn't even know which one was because when they were standing backwards, they looked the same and only the front showed their slight difference. Darskcream like Starscream also used a harsh accent towards venicons to make them understand their mistakes more and not try to make them again .
While Darkscream was checking the mechanism damaged by Bulkhead, Soundwave sent a Laserbeak to check the location. With the help of the GroundBridge, Laserbeak was in Texas (destination) within seconds. It was currently nighttime so it was easy for Laserbeak to scour everything without detection. It took some time to check out the whole area but from the good news, it seemed that Starscream had picked the perfect spot. The Giant Sized Array radio telescope was located there and tracking Cybertron with it is no problem.
Meanwhile in the autobot base
Ratchet checked the photo Miko photographed and found that it contained part of the Space Bridge specification, which could only mean one thing. Megatron planned to bring an army of undead reanimated by dark energon from their home planet Cybertron. The very thought of this made Optimus worry about what might happen if the army was brought to Earth. How everything will go up in flames and Megatron will show the whole world that he is invincible and will take over the entire planet, even if all humanity were to perish.
A few hours later
Darkscream, despite the great efforts she put in, was unable to repair the damaged mechanism. Even the old antenna could not be repaired as it turned out to be broken into several parts and even trying to weld it would not help. The seeker promised that she would try to create a different or at least a similar version from the scheme of the previous antenna, although it will take a long time taking into account her other duties. So the only option was to use the combined radio telescopes in Texas.
Meanwhile on Earth
The sun begins to rise over the city of Jasper. Jack had just arrived on his bike to work , when he was stopped from entering by Arcee in motorcycle mode . Jack when he saw her then thought that she was sent by Optimus and like Miko , who spoke to him last night wants to convince him to return. Arcee assured him that she was not sent by anyone, and she herself wanted to come and talk to him. They talked like this for almost twenty minutes until finally Arcee managed to convince Jack to go with her to the base.
At the Autobot base, Ratchet located the decepticons' space bridge ( the same one used earlier to open a way back for Megatron ) located near Earth's orbit. Unfortunately, there was a problem, because there was no one among the Autobots who could fly, and the only way to get there was through GroundBridge, which Miko had suggested. At this point Ratchet spoke up and began to explain to her that the GroundBridge has a limited range and activating it in space would break the vortex and throw anyone passing far into space. This information was a worry for everyone, but in this situation, Optimus claimed that they had to take a chance because of the quick takeover of the space bridge before Megatron did. When the autobots were about to move, Arcee appeared at the base with Jack, who after removing his helmet, greeted with a smile on his face.
"Autobots , get ready we set off," said Optimus at which Jack's smile disappeared.
"But where?" - asked puzzled Arcee
"The final frontier"- replied Miko
"In space?... But I thought they couldn't get there," said surprised Jack
Raf explained that they couldn't, but they had to try. Jack said farewell to Arcee . They did the same with their partners Raf and Miko ( of course, Miko had to be admonished by Bulkhead not to follow him), while Ratchet after activating the GroundBridge, threatened Optimus that if he left him on the planet alone, he wouldn't forgive him ( although this was just a kind of joke, since he was sure they would all come back). After that Optimus called out to his team and after transforming into vehicles , they began to cross the GroundBridge at top speed.
Fortunately, everything went according to plan. The Autobots found themselves in space without any problems and even in front of the space bridge. Each of them activated the gravity function allowing them to stand without floating and move fairly freely.
Just then, the decepticon ship was getting closer and closer behind them. The Autobots didn't know how they could deactivate the Spacebridge so they each activated their weapons and waited for the attack to begin . They didn't know that everything was being watched by Megatron in the command room along with his seekers.
Megatron laughed derisively while looking at the screen : " hehehehe Optimus Prime…He never disappoints". After these words, he angrily turned his head toward Starscream and Darkscream, who were standing behind him : " Not like you two! " They both trembled hearing the fearful tone in his voice. Starscream assured him, however, that he did not need to worry as Soundwave would find Cybertron with the help of the clues he received. After their Liege looked away from them and started looking at the screen again, Starscream and Darkscream looked at each other for a moment. Starscream seemed sort of offended and displeased . Darscream felt terrible that she was then unable to do anything to help her brother . She just hoped Starscream didn't take offense at her for this. However, she decided to ask him about it. She walked a little closer to him and began whispering so that Megatron wouldn't hear : - " Hey Starscream" - Darkscream whispered, getting his attention. " Are you offended at me?"
"No, I'm not " he replied quickly without looking at her.
"After all, I can see that something is bothering you . Even then, when I returned, you were..."
"I'm telling you that I ..." – he said a little louder
"Ssshhhhh!" - silenced him quickly Darkscream putting her servo over his mouth. " Don't raise your voice or you'll still get his attention" - she said pointing her head at Megatron. Starscream nodded that he understood. Fortunately, Megatron didn't pay attention to it.
After Darscream withdrew her servo , Starscream sighed and put his hand on her shoulder and began to speak : " Listen, I'm not mad at you, just a little disappointed. I can't understand why he wanted you to fly with him and I had to stay . Explain it .
"Starscream , I really wanted to tell you but Megatron..."
'' WHAT ARE YOU WHISPERING THERE?!'' Megatron shouted loudly, surprising them
They quickly stood to attention, responding simultaneously: "NOTHING LORD MEGATRON."
"Come closer !" he ordered them
"Yes Lord Megatron" – said Starscream
Before Starscream started to go, Darkscream stopped him and said quietly : " I promise I'll explain everything to you later"
At these words he nodded and they both approached their master. The screen showed that the Autobots were still waiting to launch their attack . What they didn't know, however, was that at that time at the Autobot base, Ratchet and his human companions were wondering how the decepticons could find Cybertron, since Bulkhead had destroyed their mechanism.
Looking at it this way, Starscream had a feeling that such temporary calm could mean that the Autobots were devising something . He decided that, however, he should say about it: "Lord Megatron, it seems to me that the Autobots might be up to something."
''Really Starscream?'' - asked leaning towards him with an angry look
At this Starscream smiled broadly with a slight giggle and Megatron turned away from him angrily and hit a button on the console with his fist, ordering the decepticons to attack the autobots.
Soundwave was in Texas at the time, using controls to steer radio telescopes to track Cybertron. He had no idea that Miko, Raf and Jack were also in the building. Raf managed to guess earlier at the base that the decepticons could have used the site to target Cybertron , but without Agent Fowler, who was unconscious the entire time, it was difficult to warn the workers there ( if there was anyone there at all ) so the last option Raf came up with was to hack into the system there to thwart the decepticons' plans. Soundwave was slowly approaching the end of setting up the antennas. He didn't know that there was anyone else in the building.
Meanwhile, in space, the autobots were constantly fighting the venicons of the fly mode. They were surprised when suddenly the Space Bridge began to move slightly, which meant that its activation was beginning.
On the Nemesis ship, the screen showing the diagram perfectly formed a circle, indicating that the space bridge was ready for activation.
"Lord Megatron , the Space Bridge is ready for action," said Starscream
"Finally" replied Megatron
Darkscream also smiled with an evil look while standing behind Starscream
"Darskcream! Do you want to do it?" - asked her Starscream looking at his sister . Darkscream didn't deny it and after a few seconds she nodded her head still holding a mocking smile on her face.
When she began to approach , then something was wrong . The Space Bridge slowly turned the other way and the circles on the screen split. Everyone was puzzled and Megatron, as usual, was looking for the only guilty party : "Starscream! What's going on there?!" He shouted dissatisfied.
Starscream tried to find an excuse but didn't know what to say himself. He looked at Darscream, to which she just shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what was going on.
"Soundwave! What's going on?" called out Starscream to him
Soundwave, of course, did not react as usual just immediately started checking all the rooms with cameras, which he hacked . In one of the rooms displayed in his viewfinder, he saw three human brats. With the help of a camera placed there, he could hear what they were saying . After a few minutes, he knew what they were up to, especially the little one with the glasses. He pulled out one of his tentacles and headed for the room where they were.
Raf quickly managed to transfer to his flash drive a schematic of the spacebridge behind before the Soundwave tentacle managed to destroy the computer, which he used to change the location . Miko tried to prove herself and picked up an axe. However, this turned out to be a stupid idea because she obviously missed and the axe landed in Soundwave's tentacle . The kids were terrified thinking that Soundwave was going to try to kill them with it but fortunately he only took it away. As soon as he set the antennas correctly again, he used an axe to cut the cables responsible for changing the settings of the antennas and thus were set only on the Cybertron. In addition, Soundwave before he flew off after seeing that the kids had appeared took a quick picture of them with his viewfinder to have proof of who was responsible for the problems.
The screen in front of which Megatron , Starscream and Darkscream were standing showed again that the Space Bridge was ready. Starscream laughed practically to himself and then with Darkscream activated the Space Bridge while Megatron went outside with a huge crystal of dark energon held on his back . With all his strength he threw the huge crystal into the portal and it was absorbed on impact . Now the Cybertron looked like its energy was just dark energon . The energy of this was so strong that all the dead cybertronians began to come to life and walk towards the spacebridge.
The Autobots watched as undead cybertronians reanimated by dark energon began to approach the spacebridge . They had to think of something quickly behind before it was too late. Optimus had the only and probably not very good idea . They had to destroy the spacebridge. Of course, they knew that if they destroyed it they would not be able to return to Cybetron, but in this situation even Ratchet agreed to this plan. Ratchet was worried for a while because he didn't know how the space bridge was built but that changed when Raf told him he had the schematic ripped off on a flash drive . The Autobots got busy blowing up the Space Bridge while Optimus stayed behind to stop Megatron from trying to get in the way of the others. The two looked at each other for a while and exchanged a few sentences behind before moving on each other. That's began the final skirmish between Optimus and Megatron, which would decide which of them would survive and which would die. Both drew their blades, showing no weakness to the other.
During their brawl, Megatron had the advantage to a greater extent. He managed to hit Optimus in some places which began to weaken him slightly. Fortunately, the cuts weren't deep and didn't leak energon, but they were painful and sparks flew out in several places . After cutting off his blade and hitting him with such force that he could not get up from the floor , Megatron was already about to deliver the final blow when suddenly Stasrcream spoke up :
'' Master''
'' Starscream, what is it ? " - asked displeased that he was interrupted at such a moment
Forgive us, Lord, if we interrupted something important, but you should know this. We noticed that the Autobots are up to something, but this time under your bridge.
The message conveyed by Starscream and Darkscream came in handy because now Megatron knew that in fact Optimus was trying to distract him.
'' Ahh , you wanted to confuse me Optimus. You would have been the perfect decepticon.''
Saying these words, Megatron approached him and again tried to swing his blade at him. Optimus blocked him and pushed him away and then turned the blade into a blaster by shooting at him. Megatron had no gravitational pull and had no chance to quickly dodge Optimus' shots . He decided to transform himself and fly to where the other Autobots are.
Meanwhile, Arcee just turned the lever , which turned the course of the current and thus will make the space bridge in some degree begin to slowly disintegrate and then explode. Megatron after a while reached them and in flying vehicle mode fired at them . The force of the shots was so strong that after one of them hit Arcee she immediately lost consciousness.
Moments earlier on the ship Nemesis
''We have orders from Megaton to direct the ship to intercept the army," said Starscream after Megatron spoke to him over the link. ''
None of them supported the idea . Especially after a while when they saw what was happening to the bridge.
''Has he gone crazy ? See what is happening to the Space Bridge . These autobots ! - said Darkscream furiously, clenching her hands into fists
''He is about to explode ?!'' - he exclaimed
''Stars…Darkscream…..wher…..my…''
''Lord Megatron , we didn't understand what you said . If you can hear us you need to get out of there quickly" said Darkscream .'' Hmm… There are probably interference by energy ejections . They are jamming our relays'' - she said this towards Starsceam.
''We must quickly turn the ship behind it will be destroyed too.''
Darskcream agreed .She quickly typed the commands on the console and they began to fly away far from the Space Bridge .
The Autobots, meanwhile, managed to escape the scene with the help of the Groundbridge sent by Ratchet.
Megatron was in front of the portal waiting for his army , which was about to pass . Only after a few seconds the earth bridge began to crumble beside him . He did not want to give up nevertheless and reached with his servo towards the first better undead . Unfortunately, this moment did not last long because the earth bridge exploded sending out a powerful energy that barely scratched the ship and thus was the end not only of the entire undead army, but also their powerful Lord Megatron.
Meanwhile on the ship Starscream was delivering the sad news to the other arriving soldiers standing behind him. Next to him stood Darkscream, who also listened to his speech and even knew what was going to happen next.
- Listen Decepticons. - began to speak Starscream looking at the screen . It was with deep sadness that I learned that Megatron's spark was extinguished . After he said this a mocking smile appeared on his face and said these three words : ''All...hail... Starscream '' Which clearly indicated that he declared himself the new leader of the decepticons.
''ALL HAIL STARSCREAM!'' - heard behind him as all the venicons shouted out.
In the command room, Starscream began to fool around a bit , encouraging the others to keep shouting those words for him and doing some funny dance to keep cheering him on. Darkscream seeing this laughed slightly . She thought that sometimes her brother acted a little strange but it didn't bother her . On the one hand, she was also happy that Megatron was finally defeated forever, but on the other hand, she was a little worried that there could be a situation where Megatron could somehow unexpectedly return to the living and want revenge. However, she decided to forget about that and let Starscream enjoy her good fortune of becoming the leader of the decepticons.
