(AN) Hello and welcome to the next chapter of my Brooklyn Nine-Nine fanfic; hope you all enjoy.

In this chapter, Jake and the rest of the squad get acquainted with Captain Grimes, we'll also see Jake and Amy trying to act professional, since Jake would really love to deck Grimes in the face.

Chapter One

Amy just stood there, staring at Grimes in surprise for a few moments before composing herself and putting on a fake smile.

"Captain Grimes, I-I didn't think you were still working at the 64." said Amy awkwardly as the 64 captain walked towards her.

"They can't get rid of me that easily," said Grimes before suddenly taking Amy's hand and lightly kissing it, making the brunette's skin crawl.

"Get your filthy paws away from her!" seethed Jake under his breath, using all of his willpower not to run over and punch the guy.

"It's a real shame you left, Santiago, you could've gone further much quicker," said Grimes.

"Well, thanks to Captain Holt, I've made it to sergeant without any help." retorted Amy.

"I can see that," said Grimes before noticing Amy's wedding ring, "I also heard you got married: so, who's the lucky man?"

"That would be me," declared Jake as he suddenly appeared beside his wife and flashed his wedding ring, "Detective Jake Peralta, her husband."

"Ah, so you're the famous Peralta that Raymond's told me so much about," said the 64 captain as he and Jake shook hands, "Nice to finally meet you, Peralta."

"You too, Captain per-uhhh, I mean, Captain Grimes." replied the detective sheepishly.

"Well, as nice as this surprisingly chilly reunion is, me and Captain Grimes have much to discuss," said Holt awkwardly, "Come into my office, John."

Grimes and Jake let go. The group watched as the two police captains headed in the direction of Holt's office.

Amy suddenly heaved a huge sigh of relief before suddenly running off; Jake following close behind her.

"What was all that about?" asked a confused Rosa, who hadn't failed to notice the chilly atmosphere that had emanated from that reunion.

"I don't know," replied Terry, "You know, I don't think Amy's ever actually said why she left the 64: any time we asked, she just told us it was a bad fit."

"Maybe she and Grimes got into a brief relationship and it ended badly," suggested a horrified Charles, "Jake was acting real jealous with Grimes."

"No, I think it's something else." said Rosa, rolling her eyes at the male detective.

Over in the break room, Amy was sitting on the sofa and breathing really hard, her head was also down. The sergeant was currently thinking back to that night at that restaurant when Grimes had tried kissing her because he felt like he deserved something in return for helping her make detective.

"Hey, are you okay?" asked a concerned voice.

Amy looked up and saw Jake looking down at her in concern. "No, not really." she muttered.

Jake sat down next to his wife and wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulder.

"That must've been quite the shock," remarked Jake in a comforting manner, "If Captain Holt and the others hadn't been there, I'd have punched that guy in the face."

"I'm glad you didn't," said Amy, who smiled slightly, "Trust me, that guy is not worth it."

"I think you need to tell Captain Holt," suggested the detective, "We can't work with this creep. I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from punching him."

"I know it's tough, but the case should come first," said a determined Amy before quickly interrupting as Jake began to open his mouth, "You and Charles have worked way too hard on this case to just have the 64 take it for themselves."

"I suppose you're right." said Jake, who didn't like the idea of Amy being anywhere near that creep, but he would respect her wishes.

Amy didn't like the idea anymore than Jake did, but she felt that she could deal with Grimes.

After a few minutes, Jake and Amy left the break room, where they ran into Rosa, Terry and Charles, causing them to yelp in alarm. The trio were giving the couple concerned expressions.

"Okay, what's going on with you two?" asked Terry in concern, "That was the most frosty reunion Terry's ever witnessed."

"It's nothing, Lieutenant," lied Amy quietly, "We're just tired from … a very long day."

"Yep, yep, just very tired." said Jake.

"You two are the worst liars I've ever met," pointed out Rosa, clearly not buying a word of it., "Amy, you looked like you were about to have a panic attack, and Jake, you looked like you wanted to punch Grimes in the face.

"I did?" lied Jake sheepishly.

Amy let out a little sigh. "Okay, you're right, there is … something," said Amy quietly, "The real reason I left the 64 was that Captain Grimes tried to kiss me when I made detective because he felt he deserved something in return for my career."

"What!" cried Rosa in shock.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." said Terry sympathetically.

"How long have you known?" asked Boyle to Jake.

"Since the Kerri Brennan case," answered Jake quietly, "That's why Amy was so determined to get justice for her."

"Brennan's boss just reminded me so much of Grimes: smug; thinks he's amazing and doesn't take any responsibility for his actions." remarked Amy darkly.

"Do you happen to know where this guy lives?" asked Rosa curiously, "I'd like to introduce his mouth to my fist."

"Ohhh, you should let Jake do it first, then me." stated a determined Charles.

"Nobody is punching anybody!" said Terry firmly, "It's not worth it, and we need to respect whatever Amy wants to do about this!"

"Thank you, Lieutenant," thanked Amy, giving Terry a small smile, "Look, I think it's sweet that you're all looking out for me, but I'm fine. Thankfully, the 64 are only here about Jake's case, so once the case gets closed, we'll never have to hear from them again."

"Dude still deserves to get punched though." remarked Rosa.

At that moment, Holt and Grimes came round the corner and approached the group.

"Ah, there you are," said Holt, "Captain Grimes has confirmed to me that the man Peralta and Boyle arrested for Michael Prescott's murder is a member of a local street gang known as the Vultures."

"Ohhh, I wonder if the Vulture is in charge of them?" wondered Charles.

"No, he is not," replied Holt, "As nice as it would be to have an excuse to get rid of the Vulture, we sadly can't. The leader's name is Michael Turner"

The others simply grumbled in annoyance.

"So, Raymond has agreed to my squad teaming up with your squad to take the Vultures down," declared Grimes gleefully, grinning happily.

"Ohhh, that's uhhh … very coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool." replied Jake sheepishly.

"Indeed," remarked a confused Grimes, "Anyway, I don't think I've been introduced to the rest of you yet: you must be Lieutenant Terry Jeffords; you'll be Detective Charles Boyle and this lovely lady must be Detective Rosa Diaz."

Grimes then walked over to Rosa and tried to take her hand, but Rosa instantly slapped his hand away. "Try that again and I'll break it!" she warned in a threatening tone of voice.

"Okay, noted." said the 64 captain nervously while backing away.

"Tomorrow, Captain Grimes will be bringing the rest of his squad here before we all go to take down the Vultures." informed Holt.

Amy felt sick at the idea of having to work with Grimes again, but she maintained a stoic expression and simply watched as Grimes said goodbye to Holt before walking away.

After he was gone, Holt turned to the others and looked at Amy in concern. "Santiago, I couldn't help but notice the rather chilly atmosphere between you and Captain Grimes, so I have to ask: is there something that I need to know about?"

"N-no, there's nothing at all," lied Amy, "Everything's fine."

"Okay; good to know." replied Holt, who wasn't entirely convinced that Amy was being truthful.

Amy watched as the 99 captain walked away. While she was determined not to say anything, she hated having to lie to Holt. This wasn't like a Halloween heist where they'd all get competitive and make up stuff to win, to the sergeant, this was lying to her mentor in a serious situation and she hated every second of it.

The next day, the 99 squad arrived outside the abandoned office building that was the Vultures base of operations. Grimes and the rest of the 64 squad were waiting for them. There were two male detectives, a male sergeant and two female detectives. One of the male detectives was middle-aged and had short, brown, wavy hair, the other male detective was slightly younger and had short, black hair. The sergeant was burly, had dark skin and was completely bald. One of the female detectives was young, had dark skin and had long black hair, the other female detective was also young and had short, light blonde hair.

"Raymond, you made it," greeted Grimes, grinning as the squad approached, "Let me introduce you to my squad."

Grimes then began to point towards each of his squad members, "Allow me to introduce Detectives Sam Walsh, Mike Marshall, Jo Myles and Olivia Walters, and Sergeant Ben Shepherd."

The other members of both squads quickly got acquainted with each other. The other members of the 64 squad were quickly reacquainted with Amy.

"It's great to see you again, Amy," said Sam, the detective with the brown hair, "You've certainly come a long way since joining the 99."

"Thank you, Sam." said Amy, blushing furiously.

"Did we do something to upset you?" asked Ben in a serious manner, "It was like, one day you were fine, then the next, you just left."

"Well, it's like I said, that place just wasn't a good fit for me anymore." answered Amy, who was still trying to remain professional, "Look, on the bright side though: I never forgot any of you and I invited you to mine and Jake's wedding."

"That's true," said Mike, the detective with black hair, "Though the captain was not too impressed when you didn't invite him to the wedding."

Flashback

Grimes entered the 64 bullpen, where he noticed that the squad were reading invitations.

"What are you reading?" asked Grimes curiously.

"Our invites to Amy Santiago's wedding," informed Mike cheerfully, "Did you not get one, sir?"

"No, I didn't," replied a now annoyed Grimes before kicking a bin over, he then stormed off in the direction of his office while muttering angrily to himself, "Ungrateful bitch: I help her become a detective and she runs off to the 99 and doesn't even invite me to her wedding."

Grimes then slammed his office door shut, causing the glass to shatter. Everybody felt a bit uncomfortable as they watched the 64 captain sulk behind his desk.

End Flashback

"Oh," muttered Amy sheepishly, "Well, it must have gotten lost in the mail."

"Right, enough chat, it's time for action," called out Holt, getting the attention of the squads as they turned to face the two captains, "Once we breach the building, we'll split off into pairs and try to capture all Vulture members."

"Me and Captain Holt will work together," began Grimes, "Peralta, you're with Walsh, Santiago, you're with Walters, Boyle's with Marshall, Diaz will be paired with Myles and Jeffords will go with Shepherd."

Amy felt relief that she wasn't paired with Grimes. The brunette came to stand next to Olivia, who was the blonde haired detective.

As one, the pairs of officers moved towards the building. As Holt neared the glass doors, he gestured to the others. "Get ready to breach!" he hissed, "Three … two … one. GO! GO! GO! GO! GO!"

The two squads charged through the double doors. "NYPD!" they all yelled in unison.

Everybody suddenly dived behind a few pillars as three thugs at the desk opened fire with assault rifles. Both squads pulled out their guns and began firing back. After a minute, Jake managed to hit one of the thugs in the knee, sending the man to the floor.

The duos of detectives ran off in different directions, while the two captains, Terry and Ben dealt with the remaining thugs.

Jake and Sam ran down a hallway when suddenly, two Vulture thugs came charging at them. The two detectives stuck their feet out, causing the two two thugs to trip and fall flat on their faces, Jake and Sam then hi-fived.

"Hasta la vista, dirtbags." quipped Jake in an impression of the Terminator.

"Huh?" replied Sam as he and Jake handcuffed the thugs.

"Terminator?" said an astonished Jake.

"Is that a new TV show?" asked Sam curiously.

Jake looked horrified.

Rosa and Jo were fighting off two thugs in a staff room. Rosa grabbed one of the thugs' arms, twisted it back and punched them in the face. Jo gave the second thug a roundhouse kick to the face, sending them to the floor.

Boyle and Marshall were chasing a fleeing female thug down the stairs. Boyle tried to grab the woman's arm, but he suddenly tripped and went tumbling down the stairs with the thug.

"You bastard." muttered the thug.

"Are you two okay?" asked Mike in concern as he ran down towards them.

"Owwwwwww." groaned a winded Charles.

"Your idiot friend winded me." grumbled the woman.

Amy and Olivia raced towards an office door when suddenly, a rather burly thug came charging at them. The two detectives sidestepped, causing the thug to slam straight into the double doors.

Amy and Olivia grinned before running towards the door and kicking it open. "NYPD!" they yelled in unison, raising their guns.

The room behind the door was an office and sitting behind the desk was a middle-aged man with salt and pepper coloured hair and a business suit: this was Michael Turner. The man slowly raised his hands, causing him to drop the bagel he was eating. "Aww man." he sighed in annoyance.

After calling in some assistance and an ambulance, the two squads exited the building with all members of the Vultures. Holt had killed one of the thugs in self-defence, and so they were placed into a body bag and loaded into one of the ambulance. Miraculously, Charles and the female thug had only sustained minor bruising.

"Thanks for the assistance, Raymond." thanked Grimes, shaking hands with Holt, "Do you mind if I have a word with your sergeant?"

"No, of course not." replied Holt.

Grimes walked over to Amy and gave her a small smile. "Sergeant Santiago, may I have a word with you in private?"

"S-sure." said Amy, still trying to act professional.

The sergeant reluctantly followed the 64 captain towards a nearby alleyway. Once inside the alleyway, Grimes grabbed Amy by the shoulders and pinned her against the wall. "Have you told your friends about me trying to kiss you!" he asked in a dangerous manner.

"N-no." lied the brunette nervously.

"Don't lie to me!" barked Grimes as he got into Amy's face.

"Okay, okay, I've told my husband and friends!" replied Amy in a terrified manner, "but I haven't told Captain Holt, I swear!"

"Oh, that's very good!" sneered Grimes, ignoring Amy's terrified whimpering, "I've always known you left because you felt you owed me nothing! You wouldn't be a sergeant if it wasn't for me! Nobody likes a rat, Santiago, especially me!"

And without warning, Grimes suddenly grabbed Amy's bottom, causing her to yelp. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" she yelled in horror while trying to push the middle-aged man away.

"What's going on here!" snapped a horrified voice.

Amy turned her head and saw Holt looking at Grimes in shock.

"Nothing, Raymond." lied the middle-aged captain before letting go and walking briskly out of the alleyway.

Amy simply stood against the wall; trembling from head to toe.

(AN) And that is it for this chapter; hope you all enjoyed.

In the next chapter, Amy will open up to Holt about Grimes, but that's all I'm saying.

Until then, this is The Dalek Hunter signing out.
