This an alternative look at Jessi and the Bad Baby-sitter. What if instead of Wendy, the club just gathered up some more associate members? I've used some real minor characters from the book too. I hope you like it!

Please review!

-Previously in the BSC-

"It is the end of the world!" Kristy disagreed with a frantic edge to her voice. "The whole purpose behind this club, the idea behind our business, is that when a client calls, he or she immediately gets a sitter. Anybody can call someone and not get a sitter. But when they call the BSC they are guaranteed to get a sitter every time! It's what makes us so pop—"

-Now-

"Kristy how desperate are you for a sitter?" asked Claudia.

"Claudia, I just said that we're in trouble unless we could find a sitter. We can't let the Hill's down," snapped Kristy nearly in a panic. Rolling her eyes, Claudia abruptly stood up and walked out of the room.

Mary Anne, Jessi, and Stacey watched her leave in awe (and Mallory would have too but was napping). What was going on? Claudia never walked out of a meeting before. They could hear her walk down the hall and stop.

Claudia couldn't believe that she was doing this, but desperate times comes to desperate measures. Then she knocked on Janine's door and waited before the door swung open. Janine had a thick book about physics or something on her desk and a notebook thick with notes.

"How may I help you Claudia?" asked Janine looking a little annoyed.

"You remember how mom and dad asked you to get more experiences and made me promise to give you a sitting job when we were desperate?" asked Claudia getting straight to the point crossing her arms still not believing that she was doing this. "The time has come because we need someone to sit for the Hills."

Janine's face changed from an annoyed look to looking what could only be described as 'like a deer caught in the headlights.' Then straightened up and primly nodded.

"I'll be glad to take your baby-sitting job, when shall you need me?" asked Janine.

"This Friday at 7," said Claudia. "Will you do it?"

That kind of conflicted with her idea to go to the observatory at Stoneybrook University. However, this was the golden opportunity to teach the next generation astronomy and maybe a little physics.

"Yes, I will baby-sit then."

Claudia gave her sister a strange look before heading back to her bedroom. Janine quietly cheered in her mind before going back to her bedroom and shutting the door. She could totally plan a day with stimulating activities for the children.

Meanwhile back in Claudia's room, she plopped back on the bed and grabbed a pack of Twizzlers from underneath her pillow. The phone still ringing before it was quiet, and Claudia called back Mr. Hill with a sitter.

"Janine?!" said Kristy with an incredulous yet thunderous look on her face promising that the elder Kishi sister would be there.

"You said that we were desperate," said Claudia with a shrug. "And my parents asked me to consider Janine if we were ever super busy. Now Janine is baby-sitting for the Hills. I swear it won't be that bad. We can give her pages from the notebook we have on the Hill family. They are seven and nine, the worst she could do is let them sit there and watch TV."

She took a bite of her Twizzler and Mary Anne nodded.

"Well it works out and all we have to do is sort out who will take the job with the Papadakis'," said Mary Anne looking over at the notebook frazzled.

"Well if I could get Janine to sit, I don't see why Kristy couldn't call Sam or Charlie," said Claudia looking at Kristy expectantly. Kristy looked like she had grown three heads by suggesting her brothers. "I'm just considering different options. And if they can't why not call Tiffany Kilbourne? She's eleven just like Mallory and Jessi."

Kristy chewed on her bottom lip and slowly shook her head no.

"We're the Baby-Sitters Club," said Kristy. "One of us should go to these jobs since they're expecting one of us."

"We could formally induct them as associate members," said Stacey brightly realizing how much help they needed. "Come on Kristy we need the help. I can understand why you don't want Sam or Charlie, but we could always ask Tiffany. Plus, Jessi said that she has a friend that sits."

"If you want, I can do it as my vice-presidential duty," said Claudia with a grin and burst out laughing. "That sounded so official. I'm gonna do it, sorry Kristy but we'll have to overrule you on this one. We're just simply too busy."

With that she grabbed her phone back and called the Kilbourne house ignoring Kristy's protests and steely gaze. After briefing Shannon on what was going on, Tiffany agreed to do the job. Not only that but she could keep all the money from said job. The best thing about that job was that Tiffany could literally walk, it was one house away from hers.

"Well that's sorted out," said Mary Anne with a sigh looking over at all the lined-up jobs. The clock hit six, but nobody got up to move exhausted.

"I remember asking Diana Roberts and Gordon Brown about Betsy Sobak when I first got the job sitting for her. Maybe they'd be willing to sit for some of our other clients," said Claudia passing around Zebra Cakes.

Mary Anne piped up next, "I remember Logan saying that knew a couple of guys that wanted to join. I could ask him which ones and we could screen them or something. I know Pete Black won't be able to since he's class president and all but…"

"Do you guys hear yourselves?" asked Kristy shocked and a little upset at Claudia and Mary Anne for even suggesting this.

"Kristy we're not suggesting that they come to meetings. We're not even guaranteeing them jobs, just people we could call. Some of them might even say no, it can't hurt just to ask," said Stacey. "For all we know Shannon could say she'd help us for six months and that'd solve everything."

She gave them her best stink eye but said nothing before Mary Anne created a list. Diana Roberts, Gordon Brown, Janine Kishi, Erica Blumberg, Tiffany Kilbourne and then promised to get the boys from Logan who were willing to at least try.

"Before we go," said Kristy and paused. "Do you really think this will work? They're probably not even certified in first aid or took an infant care class like we did."

"Who knows they might," said Mary Anne being neutral. "But at least we got those jobs covered with Janine and Tiffany."

"I know I'd hate to lose them as clients," said Stacey agreeing.

Around them everyone nodded at Stacey's comment in agreement. Kristy just sighed unsure how this will honestly work but went with it for now. They'll see what it's really like to have all the extra sitters in the club eventually. All she knew was that she hoped some of them said no. If anything, Claudia and Janine would get along better, with Janine knowing why she liked to sit so much.
