How Logan and Grace found each other. Honestly I wasn't sure if I was going to do this but I started writing something small in my head and it kind of snowballed into this. This does end a little abruptly considering I didn't know how to end it lol. I like these two together though! We know that Grace isn't too bad of a person without Cokie, so it's just a matter of creating that personality as an adult.
Enjoy and please review!
Logan Bruno had his routines. During the school year he would go to Rosebud for his lunch break once a week and then be back to teach his gym and health classes at Stoneybrook High School. During the summer was a different story though, until finally deciding that he'd go Monday at twelve PM.
Today was not a Monday, nor was it twelve for that matter. Instead, it was a Thursday at three as he looked for a free table did, he run into a familiar face.
"Grace? Grace Blume?" said Logan looking at the girl hiding in the corner booth surprised to see her. The last he knew she left for some fashion college.
A bit startled the blonde's head snapped up as she attempted to fix the makeup stains on her face. Grace paled a little at seeing him and attempted to give him a tiny smile.
"Hi," she said a little too brightly and a little too loudly causing customers to look over at them. "Do I, um, know you?"
Maybe he just had a good memory, but he gave her a little funny look. Logan distinctively remembered her having a crush on him back in middle school. She and her friends tried to prank Mary Anne and the members of the BSC in the graveyard one Halloween night. It was kind of hard to forget. Grace seemed to have gotten over her crush eventually though and Cokie Mason tried to make moves on him.
Not only that but they kind of had the same friend group in high school. She was friends with a couple of the cheerleaders, and he was on the football team. They were on friendly terms with each other at least and part of group hang outs.
"Logan Bruno from SHS, class of 2004. We were friends senior year of high school? You sat right behind me in English."
She cleared her throat and tried to fix her hair next, however her make up is disarray.
"Oh, hi Logan," she said and pushed around an everything bagel on her plate smearing cream cheese all over it. "Fancy seeing you here."
"Hi."
Confused he glanced at her and nodded. She went back to playing with her bagel and staring at the empty spot across from her. Logan glanced back at her as she seemed to look a little lost. Was she okay? Her hazel eyes looked glazed over and before he knew, she was crying. Just dissolved into tears just like that. Part of him wondered if she was tricking him somehow, and the other part wanted to hug her.
"There there sweetie," said the waitress giving her a cup of ice water and patted Grace's shoulder. The waitress glanced over at him and gave him a tiny smile. "It's fine. She has been doing this for about twenty minutes the last couple of days. She pulls herself together before she leaves."
Logan just nodded a bit dazed and approached Grace hesitantly sitting across from her.
"Is this seat taken?"
Her head snapped up as she smiled at him and took a sip of her water. Logan flagged down the waitress for his order and then turned to Grace.
"So... how've you been since high school?" asked Logan trying to cheer her up. She was pretty well liked in high school being the class vice president and on prom committee. She probably had loads of good stories to tell since they've last seen each other.
"Great," she said giving him a watery smile. "You don't have to stay with me I'll be fine. It's just family things."
He turned his head slightly wondering if he should even ask.
"I understand, I know I'm not the greatest listener but if you want to talk just let me know. We are still friends right?"
Grace seemed to light up at the mention that they were still friends. He had heard how she and Cokie stopped being friends around the middle of their high school years. Something about a falling out or different interests or something. Honestly, Logan Bruno was not the type to gossip. Anyway, she looked like she was ready to talk.
"My dad has cancer," she said blurting it out, "the doctors don't know how long he has, it could be months it could be years. I know I shouldn't be telling you this and that I should talk to my my my mom." Her voice cracked and wobbled as she said the word my. "But talking about it makes her more upset and she tells me to go away. I moved back home from college and none of my friends are in town anymore. I don't feel like I have anyone to talk to and I've been coming here and crying about it for the past week."
Damn Logan opened his mouth and nothing came out before she cried into her bagel again. Okay, yea, he could understand this and comfortingly pulled her into a hug. Yep, they were going to be catching up with each other now.
"So how about we have some lunch together," he said as the waitress dropped off their food.
"Thanks Logan," she said wiping her face and giving him a dazzling smile. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you."
With that he pulled up his plate as the two caught up.
