Stacey and Charlotte reuniting chapter! I wanted to rename the shop that Mrs. McGill owns so it's different here then in my last fic. Hope everyone enjoys! I'll be wrapping up this quarter of the fic soon and will pick up again when season 2 of the Netflix show drops.
Happy reading!
Charlotte scoured the sale rake for something nice. She needed something nice for her date with Byron but also something that could double well for work. Her normal black dress wouldn't cut it this time, because it was starting to get warmer out. Thus, the need for a lighter color.
Maureen Spencer, Dee Pike's friend, owned the shop The Style Loft. Where she was currently digging hoping that whatever she picked out didn't seem too old looking or young looking or not flattering. She dismissed most of the dresses on the rack.
"Hi," said a worker looking at her from the register. "Need help?"
"Kind of yea," she said laughing a little weakly. "I have a date with my boyfriend but need something that could double as a work outfit? I don't have a lot to spend."
She flushed as the woman just nodded.
"I understand, it's nice to have something that can double as both. My name is Stacey and I can help," she said.
Charlotte smiled as she heard the name.
"Wait, Stacey as in Stacey McGill?" she asked as the woman nodded as she seemed to recognize her back. "I'm Charlotte..."
"Charlotte, Johanssen right? I remember baby-sitting you a lot," said Stacey as she giggled knowing that she finished her sentence. "Wow, it's nice to see you, Charlotte. It's been a long time. I think the last time I sat for you, you were eleven and just starting at SMS. I think I was graduating high school at the time," said Stacey as the two hugged.
It did feel weird as she tightly squeezed her back. It felt good to see her again, it had been a good ten years since then. Wait… yea it was about ten years since then. Charlotte remembered starting middle school and being too busy. Then Stacey went to college in New York. They've only ever seen each other here and there ever since.
"I get it, I got busy too," she said. "I'm actually surprised that I have a Thursday off."
Stacey nodded her head, "Absolutely. This is the perks of vacation days though right? We should get lunch sometime soon and get caught up. Like I wanna know whose this boy is that you're dating. Are you still living in Stoneybrook?"
"Yes and it's Byron Pike," she said flushing. "We're living together and we just got a dog. We're both in grad school right now and I'm getting my master's in library science from Southern Connecticut University and working at the library. What about you what have you been up to? I know you left for Columbia."
Stacey pulled a few dresses off a rack as she started to talk.
"Not much, I graduated from Columbia with two bachelors' in fashion marketing and finance. I worked for a fashion house for awhile but didn't like it as much. Now I'm with my current job doing finance for a pharmaceutical company. I just had a baby last year," said Stacey brightly.
"Aww," she said. "Byron and I are looking forward to having kids."
Stacey found even more dresses as they continued to catch up with each other. Their conversation more natural, catching up. Charlotte's parents were still working. Stacey's mom got remarried a few years ago. It wasn't like she was her babysitting charge anymore. They were more equals and shopping together instead.
"This is fun shopping together," said Charlotte.
"Which by the way I found the perfect dress," said Stacey holding up a golden colored wrap dress with white flowers on it.
"Perfect thanks Stacey," said Charlotte hugging her tightly.
"And it's on me. Enjoy your date and call me as soon as you know your next free day."
The two women handed each other their phones and added to their contacts lists. Finally Charlotte walked out of the store feeling a lot lighter with a paper bag in her hand. Boy did she have a lot to tell Byron that night.
