Sun couldn't believe he was really doing this. He couldn't believe he was going back to the origin of one of his most painful memories. As he sat there in the back seat of a taxi, he couldn't help but think back to the night he felt betrayed. He could remember it all so vividly. He could remember the yelling, the crying, the various objects being thrown around, the pleading, and worst…he remembers how he got the scar on his cheek. He placed his hand on the very spot the scar resided. He took a deep breath and looked out into the dark empty streets. As the taxi continued to its destination Sun couldn't help but notice the many stores it passed along the way. The bakery, Blakes favorite place to eat. The library where she was always found reading her so-called "special romance novel" that she would never let Sun nearby. And of course, the park, their favorite place to take those breezy autumn walks. Sun's thoughts were interrupted by the voice of the taxi driver.
"So sunny? What's got you feeling gloomy in my taxi at this hour of morning?" the taxi driver asked.
"Oh…it's nothing sir." Sun replied.
The taxi driver didn't buy it. Sun didn't know it, but this driver was one who was good at reading people thoroughly. "Come on son," he began. "I know a sad sack when I see one. And trust me, I've seen a lot of em' like you." Sun was starting to get a little bit annoyed at this point. Why did this random taxi driver want to know what was on his mind so much? He thought about just out right ignoring the man but didn't have it in him to be rude like that. Maybe if he gave him a one off answer the man wouldn't try to pry. Boy was he wrong. "I..don't think you would understand man. Let's just leave it at that." The taxi driver chuckled. Sun looked at him in confusion.
"Boy have I heard that one many times." The taxi driver replied.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Sun asked.
"Son, you wanna' know how many kids your age I've had ride in this piece of shit taxi tell me that same line?" At this point Sun could tell the ride wasn't going to be the quite one he had hoped for. All he could do now was humor the man. "I don't know man. Tell me how many." He encouraged, expecting the man to give him an outrageous answer.
"Too many to count on both my hands and toes that for sure. But trust me when I say you aren't any different from the lot of em' I've seen. In fact, I bet I can take a reeeeaaaally good guess at what's going on with ya'." The man said.
"Oh yeah? Go for it then my guy. What's going on in my life?" Sun asked.
Sun crossed his arms and slumped back in his seat. Whatever guess the taxi driver had he been so sure he was dying to hear. After all it wasn't like the guy was a mind reader or anything right? "Hmmmm I'm gonna' go ahead and guess that someone wronged you. Someone you used to be close to…Someone you loved," Suns ears perked up, his curiosity and astonishment now peaking through the roof. This guy couldn't be a mind reader now, could he? Sun didn't say anything, he had to know if the man truly knew more than he thought. "it was a girl wasn't? a girl you have known and loved for a long time. She broke your heart in the worst way any person could, didn't she?" Sun sat there in disbelief. The man was right. He was absolutely right and he couldn't deny it to the man anymore. A slight impressed smile grew on Suns face.
"You were right man. That's exactly what happened." Sun replied sadly.
"If I it takes weight off your shoulders, may I ask how it happened?" the taxi driver asked.
"Uh, I think that's enough prying for one ride my guy," Even though Sun did want to stop the conversation at this point something inside of him wanted to vent. Sun had found himself doing that a lot. He would vent to his friends, his cousin, and at times when he felt he needed his parents in his life he would look up at the sky and vent to them. Now he finds himself about to vent to this complete stranger. "But..I sure could use someone to vent to right now so….here it goes."
Sorry that this chapter was suuuuuper short guys. I wanted to save the juicy part for next time and trust me…its gonna be wild.
