"So why did she decide to go looking for her sister now?" Corda asked.
"Well, they both went into foster care at the same time. Faith was fourteen and Hope, eight. But they went to different homes. Professor Dormer eventually became Faith's Watcher and foster mother. Then Kakistoes killed Professor Dormer."
"Kakistoes?" Daniel asked. "Greek for -."
"Worst of the worst." Giles finished. "Oldest known vampire on Earth. Documented sightings going back nearly three thousand years."
"One of those two oldest ones you mentioned?" Major Carter said.
"Yes. Kakistoes killed Professor Dormer, Faith tried to save her and barely managed to escape herself. She ran all the way here from Boston. Giles and the Professor worked for the same organization. We gave Faith the first pulse pistol we'd made after all this happened and when Kakistoes showed up looking for her, she used it to destroy him." Alexander told them. "Giles took over her care. She finished High School last year, she's a year younger then our physical ages. She and Buffy, work for us, field testing things we reverse engineer."
"That's why she decided now is a good time to try and find Hope. She has a steady job and has had it for awhile, she's finished High School and is in a stable, long term relationship with Charles Gunn. She thought, if Hope needed help, she's now in a position to offer it. And it turns out, she is in a bad situation." Giles added.
"Then when she and Gunn get here, we'll figure out how to help her get Hope out of it." Corda said. "We have the company's resources and contacts, my family's or rather Cordelia's family's resources and contacts that can help. Faith's family, we'll figure it out. In the meantime, we're taking our new friends to see the complex those people built under the college campus."
"I'll set the monitors to automatic." Johnathan said.
"Excuse me, Alexander?" Jenny said. "You forgot to introduce someone."
"Dang, you're right we got caught up in the discussion on Faith's sister. Everyone, this is Teal'C, he's like Oz, not alot to say, but what he does say is probably wise."
"Indeed."
"Thanks."
"You wouldn't be wrong." Daniel said with grin.
"I've certainly found him to be a very wise friend over the years." Major Carter added.
"That symbol on your head, may I enquire about it?" Giles asked.
"You may. It is a symbol of slavery to false gods. The Jaffa were enslaved and forced to worship the Gou'ald as gods, they altered our ancestors, destroying our immune systems in order to force us to incubate their young. The people of Earth have crafted a drug that replaces the need for the primta."
"We may be able to do more for you." Alexander said. "If you want, we could try healing your immune system completely."
"I will consider it. I thank you for the offer."
"So, shall we go?" Corda asked and they all headed out to their vehicles, which were parked under the awning. Giles and Jenny invited Daniel into their car, so he and Giles could talk, while Jenny drove. Carter road with Alexander and Corda and Teal'C went with Oz, Buffy and Johnathan. There wasn't a whole lot of conversation in that van.
They arrived at the campus shortly there after and got out and walked to the dorm.
"This isn't far from where we arrested Captain Finn." Carter commented.
"You arrested Riley?" Buffy asked.
"Yes, he'd just told us, voluntarily mind you, that he'd ordered civilians to disarm and that he'd attempted to confiscate weapons they were using to defend themselves. Something he wasn't legally allowed to do, but didn't seem to understand that. We had MPs pick him and another officer with him, up for questioning. Questioning that never happened because they were both killed before they could be questioned."
"We knew Riley was dead, we found a death certificate during our investigation." Buffy said quietly. "We didn't know about the other guy."
"Yes, we believe whoever they were working with was covering their tracks."
"Explains why they shut everything down and ran." Alexander commented. He pulled out his scanner and began checking to see if there'd been any changes.
"That looks familiar." Daniel said, when he saw it.
"Xander, the boy I blended with, bought it as part of a costume he got for Halloween that he was told was based on the Wormhole Extreme TV show, he was told it was an actual prop from the show. Cordelia, the girl Corda blended with, bought a female version of the same costume. Both were told, these were actual props for the show. They're actually Alteran made scanners. Oz and Jonno took Corda's apart. Oz is working to build an Earth version of the scanner and Jonno has recreated most of the programming in Earth computer code."
"Oh god, Martin." Carter said.
"Martin?" Corda asked.
"Martin is an alien, well a human from another planet. He fled a war on his planet and ended up here on Earth. He found a place in Hollywood as a producer, of Wormhole Extreme, an idea he sold to the network. It's based off of our program. The government allows it because it helps with our cover."
"Since they look familiar, I'm betting they're something we brought back from off world. We probably thought they didn't work anymore since we couldn't get them to function. He must have borrowed them without asking, to try to make things more realistic on the show." Daniel said.
"They are part of why we think we were affected they way we were. They do require a mental component to work, beyond that, we can't explain why we were effected they we were." Alexander said, leaving out Magic and souls for now. Carter and Daniel already had alot to deal with.
