Chapter 5:The Return of House Black.

The sorting started. Harry noted that the number of first years was about eighty. The double of what his year was.

Minerva McGonagall one by one called the names that would be sorted, until his first name of interest appeared.

"Coote, Ritchie."

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry clapped. He observed the sorting with attention, not just because of his friends of the compartment, but also because of the possibility of someone of the Seventy appearing.

"Frobisher, Vicky."

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry smiled. Vicky was another quidditch fan. She and Ritchie were the future of the team in his eyes

The next name to catch Harry's interest was,

"Greengrass, Astoria."

The hat took a good five minutes before shouting, "GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry looked at the Slytherin table, where Astoria's sister Daphne was scowling. Then he looked at the head table and saw that Snape was glaring at him.

When she got to the table, Astoria said, "Harry! That trick worked! Look at my sister!"

After a good amount of sortings, the next name of interest appeared,

"Kent, Carina."

The hat barely touched her head before yelling "GRYFFINDOR!"

Carina strutted to the Gryffindor table and sat beside Ginny Weasley and stuck out her tongue to Harry. Harry saw that Snape was glaring to the girl as well.

Harry stopped paying attention to the sorting and just started to talk with the new Gryffindors. Romilda Vane was sorted into Gryffindor as well.

The sorting finished. Dumbledore made the announcement that the ministry sent dementors outside the Hogwarts grounds in order to catch the mass murderer Sirius Black. Then he announced the two new teachers, Rubeus Hagrid for Care of Magical Creatures, and Remus Lupin, the man that was in the train compartment Ron and Hermione stayed, as teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

The feast started. Harry started to execute his plan.

Harry talked to Astoria, "Tori, do you want to see a new trick I learned during the summer?"

The girl smiled, "Yeah!"

"Ron. Can I borrow your rat?"

"Sure! I trust you won't harm him." Ron handed Scabbers to Harry.

Harry cast "Animagus revelio," Scabbers glowed red.

Percy that was nearby, saw the significance of what happened, and connected it mentally to the fact that Scabbers lived too long to be a rat. He sent a stunner to Scabbers.

Harry then tried to use the other spell, but Oliver Wood, who also saw everything, cast it first, transforming Scabbers back to a human. Everyone around them started to scream.

Professor Lupin ran to the commotion screaming, "Peter! You are the real traitor! I'm going to kill you!"

Harry and Carina shielded Pettigrew from Lupin, "We need him alive in order to free Sirius," Harry said.

Flitwick quickly ran up to the scene, casting some body binds on Pettigrew, while many of the children that had relatives in the department of magical law enforcement rushed to send messages to their relatives.

Half an hour later, Amelia Bones arrived with two aurors, Percy mentions that the aurors were the Head Auror Rufus Scrimgeour and the Deputy head Auror Gawain Robards.

Amelia looked at the crime scene, "It looks like the official story is not correct."

Harry walked up to Amelia, "Madam Bones! My name is Harry Potter. I'd prefer that the interrogation is as public as possible, to avoid any kind of cover up!"

"Why?"

"Sirius Black is the designated regent of my house. If he is innocent of what he has been accused of, I must know."

Amelia agreed, "Considering the main crime Black was imprisoned for, was killing Pettigrew. And as we see, Pettigrew is alive. I think we can conclude he is innocent of the crimes he was accused of. But I agree that we need to avoid some cover ups. The Crouchs and the Malfoys have certain conflicts of interest in this issue."

Harry looked at the head table and saw that McGonagall and Snape were glaring at him. Making Harry think about the rumors of McGonagall badmouthing him.

One of the aurors, took a flask of a potion and made Pettigrew drink it.

Amelia started interrogating him.

"What's your name?"

"Peter Alphonsus Pettigrew."

"When were you born?"

"June 26th 1960."

"Why were you hiding as a rat?"

"I hid as a wizarding family's pet in order to be in a good position to hear news about my master."

"Who is your master?"

"The dark lord."

"What happened in the night of Halloween 1981?"

"The Potters were hiding using the fidelius charm. Sirius Black was supposed to be the secret keeper, but he decided that he was too obvious, so they cast the charm with me as secret keeper. I went to the dark lord and immediately told him the secret. Sirius Black went after me after he realized that I betrayed them. I killed the muggles, cut my finger and framed him."

"Why did you betray the Potters?"

"They were fighting for a lost cause. But James was sentimental and loved that mudblood whore too much. Sirius Black was too loyal to James to see reason. I tried to convince the werewolf Lupin to join me, but he refused as well."

The aurors put some anti-animagus cuffs on Pettigrew and walked out of the great hall. Harry walked up to Terry Boot and Neville Longbottom and told them to write to their guardians about what they saw.

Harry then went to hug Carina, "Your father is going to be free."

"I hope so!"

Ron yelled, "Wait a sec! Is there something that we haven't been told?"

"Sirius Black is my godfather and Carina's biological father. The reason Carina's mum declared herself as my unofficial godmother was because of that."

"There is something more, right?"

"I sent a letter to Sirius Black, he told me about Pettigrew and I decided to learn the spells to expose him. I bought that second owl to send letters to Sirius."

"You said that you were going to gift that owl, right?"

"I am going to do that, Ron. I think you need a compensation because you don't have a pet now."

Ron yelled, "I didn't lose a pet. I slept with that thing! I'm getting sick."

Percy yelled, "Me too!"

Harry asked, "Ron, do you want the owl, or do you want a cat?"

Ron answered, "I think I want a cat now. Cats eat rats."

"Good, the first Hogsmeade weekend, you'll choose a cat, I'll buy it for you, is the least I can do," Harry then looked at the youngest Weasley, "Ginny, do you want an owl?"

Ginny blushed, "I need to see it."

Harry and Ginny walked off the great hall, going to the owlery.

The next day, Percy was waiting for Harry at the common room, "I was asked to take you, and Carina Kent to Dumbledore's office."

Harry said, "It must be because of the Pettigrew thing."

Percy asked, "What does it have to do with you?"

"There is a secret a secret everyone will know now, about Carina. I'm involved because Sirius Black is my godfather and designated regent. I may have to ask you a favor. You decide if you accept it," Harry then whispered something into Percy's ear.

Carina came down the stairs and joined Harry.

"Dumbledore wants us in his office."

"It may be because of dad."

"What does your father do with this?"

"My father is Sirius Black."

"I see."

The group arrived to the hallway where Dumbledore's office was. There, Dumbledore was waiting for them.

"Harry, and you must be Carina. There are some people waiting for you," Dumbledore led the pair to his office. There, Aster Kent was talking with a tall brown haired woman with gray eyes, a blond man, and a pink haired young woman.

Aster spotted them and signaled the group she was talking to, "Carina, Harry. This is Andromeda, Sirius' cousin, her husband Ted, and their daughter Nymphadora."

Andromeda stepped toward the kids and said, "Nice to meet you, Harry and Carina. Harry, I wanted to meet you for a long time, since Sirius sent me letters talking about you! But, you know what happened. Carina, Sirius was surprised to find about you and he hopes to be an active part of your life."

Harry asked, "Where is he?"

Andromeda explained, "Last night, the Department of Law Enforcement issued Sirius' exoneration considering that the victim of the main crime he was accused of, was found alive, that meant that the crime he was accused of, didn't exist," Andromeda showed the edition of the Midnight Prophet to Harry and Carina.

Peter Pettigrew found alive! Sirius Black free!

The article described the incident at the feast where Pettigrew was exposed and the subsequent interrogation of him by the head of the DMLE Amelia Bones. Sirius Black was given reparations, and was recommended to go to St. Mungo's to check himself for the effects of Azkaban.

Andromeda continued, "I sent a letter to Sirius after those news, with the paper. Two hours later, he sent me a letter to me asking me to help him go to St. Mungo's. Now he's there and we are going to see him. He wanted to see both of you."

The group went to the fireplace in Dumbledore's office and one by one flooed to St. Mungo's. There they saw Sirius waiting for them in the lobby. Andromeda and Aster ran to hug Sirius.

Andromeda said, "Sirius, I always knew you were innocent, but I didn't have the power to do anything."

Aster said, "This horrible justice system. You couldn't meet your daughter."

Sirius then approached Harry and Carina and presented himself. Harry and Carina both hugged him as well.

Sirius then said, "Harry, as you know, I'm your magical guardian. I'm your regent in the council of the seventy."

Harry commented, "About that, the Boot family wants to discuss business with us."

Sirius said, "There's a lot of house business that we have to deal with. We have to go to Gringotts to deal with our finances."

The group took the floo to Diagon Alley. Where they went to Gringotts. Sirius first decided to take the inheritance test.

"A lord can't be regent of another house. Harry, you must designate a regent yourself."

"I don't know many people I can trust. Sirius, do you have any proposal? Who do you trust?"

"I think Andy should be your regent. That way we would show that our houses are allies! If Aster's original identity wasn't legally dead, she would have been my first option."

Aster said, "I think Andy should be the regent. But I'll reveal my identity to the general public. If they are acting like Voldemort is dead, we should act like that as well. I can reverse the identity change ritual."

Sirius approached the goblin, "We need the ritual room. We have many rituals to do."

Harry, Carina, Sirius, Andromeda, Aster, Ted, and Dora were led to a big room used for ceremonies.

Sirius explained "We need to deal with our families magics because of the long time they haven't been used. I finally reclaimed the Black lordship and with that. First, I have to deal with some issues. I'll call the family magic to show me the line of succession of the House of Black. The fact that Aunt Lucretia, Grandfather Arcturus, and Uncle Cygnus all died last year, makes this all easier."

Sirius slashed his hand and some drops of blood fell over a basin, then he recited some latin verses. Sirius then smeared his blood on a quill and the quill started to write in a roll of parchment.

Carina asked, "What are you going to do next?"

"Carina, kneel in the circle at the center of the room. It's time to legitimize you!"

Carina did as told.

Sirius smeared his blood on his wand and waved it in a star shape, "I, Sirius Black, head of the house of Black, legitimize my natural daughter, Carina Columba Kent, as a member of the house of Black. Rise, Carina Columba Black."

Carina stood up, but instantly fainted.

Sirius commented, "The effects of the Black family magic."

Sirius then went and wrote with a blood quill in another piece of parchment. He cast some charms on it and sent it away. He then recited more incantations.

Andromeda and Nymphadora fainted as well. Ted asked, "What did you do now?"

"I welcomed all of the blood traitors and squib lines to the family. I also disowned some lines, like Andy's sisters and the Crouch line. The line of succession of the Black family should be better now. I'll summon the family magic again to write the first twenty places of the line of succession."

Sirius did the ritual again. A quill started to write the effect of Sirius' rituals in the line of succession.

Carina woke up and read the parchment, "Look, your best friend and your girlfriend are on this list!"

Harry flustered pushed Carina, "Are you still going to call her my girlfriend?"

Carina stuck out her tongue, "You like her, even if you can't admit it to yourself."

Sirius then told Harry, "You told me that you have a claim to an extinct family?"

"Yeah! My friend's brother told me I could take their family magic."

"Yes, you can do that."

"Speaking of that, which is the Potter magical affinity?"

"Potions and flying."

"Wait, why do I suck so much on potions?"

"I've heard that Snivellus is your teacher. He won't let you brew potions in peace because he hates me and hates James as well. Try to brew a potion outside of class. Which family do you want to claim?"

"The Gaunts."

"I don't know any Gaunts marrying into the Potters."

"That's because my mum is the one that is a Gaunt descendant from a squib line."

"Hahaha! I give you that." Sirius handed Harry a parchment and explained how to claim a family.

Harry cut his hand and smeared blood on his wand, "I, Harry James Potter, claim the headship of the House of Gaunt."

Harry glowed green and fainted.

When Harry woke up, he felt a little different. Like he had more control of his mind. "What happened?"

"Is your new family magic, the one you usurped and now combined with your existing family magic. You probably earned their affinities as well. The only way to know the magical affinities is trying to learn new things. Magical affinities tend to be a reflection of the affinities of many generations of descendants of the family founder."

"So, I'll have to investigate the Gaunt family in order to know their affinities?"

"It's not necessary. You'll notice instantly when you try to learn new things. "

"Make space, now I must do my ritual," Aster said.

Aster took her wand and drew a four pointed star in the ground, then she took some of her blood and drew a heart, then she pointed her wand to her heart and said, "I, Aster Sophie Kent, am not in grave peril anymore, so I return to my birth identity, Marlene Elizabeth McKinnon." She fainted when he finished the ritual.

Harry, Sirius, and the others, noticed that Marlene's face changed.

Sirius commented, "That new face is her natural face. As you see, Carina, she looks a lot like you."

Harry asked, "Do we need to do another ritual?"

Sirius answered, "No, we did the most important ones for now. Now we just need to send a letter to the Department of Records registering Andy as your regent."

Ted said, "Don't worry, while you were doing those rituals. I was writing the letter and writing a press statement."

Sirius said, "Great! We are all set! Harry, Carina, you need to be careful at school. Some people won't like what happened now. You'll have to return to school tomorrow, you need to be careful.
