When Vincent and Sentinel Lyons stepped out of the front doors of Galaxy news radio, all they saw was blood and chaos, wound civilians and dead caravan guards, all this malice and despair reminded Vincent how the horrors of the wasteland need to be eradicated or else all the good him and the brotherhood have done will just be all for nothing. Anger quickly running through his blood just boiling it up, like a blister ready to explode.
He spotted Glen Clarke blood covered all over just sitting in a corner, Vincent wondering if it's his blood or someone else and he had a bad feeling inside his gut it's someone close, Vincent proceeded to walk over to his corner.
"Glen, What happened?"
" They, the fuckers ambushed us again, we were outnumbered. There was nothing we could do." Glens voice mumbered.
"Fucking savages, Where's Laura is she alright." Vincent said with concern.
Before realising the outcome, Vincent looked up at one of many bloodstained bed rolls laying down on the floor and spotted Glen's loved one lying still covered in blood.
"She's dead, did all i could do but it was not enough. I, i should of left DC before all this happened, DC just been to dangerous lately, maybe she would still be alive and kicking, Fuck." Glens pained voice spoke.
" im, im sorry Glen, I know what it's like losing something so close to you, it makes you appreciate the time you had before. If there's anything I can do, just say the word." Vincent said with sympathy written on his face.
There was only one thing on Glens mind right now, Revenge. and the Lone Wanderer understand that world all so well.
" There is one thing you can do, wherever you're off to hunt raiders, I want in, I want them gone, it's got to be permanent." Vincent could feel Glens anger burst out, it brought back memories of his dad dying in the purifier, the rage he felt that day, all he wanted to do was put down any and all the enclave members he could find. When he finally got his revenge, he thought he would feel more satisfied but all he felt was more Hollow, a shell broken and beaten. but he cant take away the chance for Glen to have his vengeance.
" Well, You can join me and the Lyons pride as we take out the raider compound at Germantown HQ, we've found out that Germantown HQ is their base location. give us five minutes to prepare and we'll be on our way."
"Thank you Lone Wanderer, I'll give them hell."
Germantown HQ
2 days after caravan attack
Lone Wanderer, Glen Clarke,Sentinel Lyons and Knight Captain Colvin
It's been a while since he came here. Last time he was here, it was to rescue Shorty and Red, captured by super mutants. Building full of blood and gore bags, mounted flesh printed on the walls, everytime he stepped into a super mutant encampment or raider encampment, he had to mentally and physically prepare himself for what he would witness. The first time he did, he vomited until there was nothing inside. With every visit he became much more numb to it. After rescuing Red and Shorty, he managed to establish Big Town into a real settlement, growing and growing into a proper town, Merchants, Hotels and apartments, Mercenaries that offer protection throughout the wastes and real bars and diners for wastelanders looking to eat and drink. Its growth made Vincent Harris happy and proud; the future looking brighter and brighter, settlement building and building, maybe in a few years the capital will be called Washington DC once more instead of the Capital Wasteland. He wondered what his father would think of him now, after purifying the water bring water to life freely, ending the enclave threat and trying his best to change this wasteland for the better, if only he could see him again, he wasn't a devout believer in religion but helld believe it if it means he could see his loved ones again. He also remembers an old movie he used to watch Amata back in the vault 101, Gladiator, an old film about a former Roman General sets out to exact vengeance against the corrupt emperor who murdered his family and sent him into slavery. There was a slave, his quote you'll meet them again, but not yet not yet, remembering that scene and quote made him smile. Not yet father, not yet.
On the overlook Scoping out Germantown, the group scouted out the region that used to be home to Super mutants, now to Raiders, or they would have thought. Vincent and Sentinel Lyons spotted no more than 35 unknown heavy armoured soldiers or Mercenaries, green combat armour with a white star painted on the chest. All of them carried well maintained Combat rifles and snipers. This is where the scum must be getting the supplies..
"Fucking Gunners, this is bad" Glen Anounced peeking the interest of Vincent and the sentinel.
"Gunners, you know them." sentinel lyons questioned with a surprised but suspicious gaze looking at Glen.
"yeah , i know them, used to be with them back in the commonwealth, what used to be called Boston. Yeah they are a Mercenary outfit that's gone bigger and bigger over the years. They are ruthless, well armed and well organised, more similar to an army. If they made it out this far, it's nothing good." Glen explained.
Glen's reply got the Sentinel thinking of getting part of the puzzles to interlink before looking at her compatriot.
"This must be what that dying raider at Dupont Circle Knight Captain Colvin, these gunners must be supplying and organising these raiders with weapons, ammo maybe even drugs then send them to attack caravans and brotherhood soldiers. Weakening out forces enough so they come and attack us in our weakened state, Shit." Sentinel Lyons Anger rose like dynamite. Determination to end this threat to her brothers in arms.
The lone Wanderer went into his backpack and pulled his binoculars out. With his binoculars, Vincent Harris scoped the area spotting at least 34 Raiders and about 15 of the gunners their latest companion spoke of before spotting a gasoline pump the raiders set up, probably to fill up any raider with a flamer. an idea formed in his mind and to his luck spotted where they stored all they're munitions and more vital, food and water. His luck relied on the stupidity of the Vermin, all they essential items they've collected are right next to the fuel pumps.
" I've got an idea but it might take a while for reinforcements to arrive but we can strike now while we wait for reinforcement to come."
The Sentinel held a large grin on her face, usually when Vincent forms a plan, it always ends in success so when she hears those words, almost instantly she goes with it. She would of made him her second in command after Vargas heroic death at the battle of Project purity if only for two reasons, First reason is that Vincent is more independent from the pride, not because he thought he was too good, he had nothing but respect for every member in her squad but it was very rarely does he Join on a mission with the pride since his busy trying to end the threat to the capital wasteland of raiders, Mutants or crazy lunatics coming from maryland. That or spending time with his lover, Amata, the girl that brought her Friend, no, best friend to the bottle of the bottle, dragged him in then spat him out with no time, all those times she spent tending to his wounds after a bar fight, knocking every dealer trying to supply him with drugs and finding him almost putting his pistol to his head trying to commit suicide. The sentinel heard he got back with her when he went back to the Vault from Star Paladin Cross, her mentor she looked up to ever since her basic training. Her feelings when he said how it was going with Amata when they crossed back at chevy chase. Surprised was an understatement but she was slightly happy everything was going well for them but she still had doubts about if Amatas the one. Sarahs always been the one and done type, she had suitors her father requested for her but she never felt she would ever find somebody to love that way. It was always in the battlefield with her, well hoped it was in the battlefield. Another reason for not picking him as second in command was of his background, it would be unfair to the others if she appointed him over the rest, instead she picked Paladin Glade after Tristion went back to his usual duty. Experienced, well rounded and well liked. Good combo.
During the course of scouting, the team formed a plan of action, Knight captain Colvin and Glen Clarke will act as a distraction, drawing the raiders and gunners away for Sentinel Lyons and Vincent Harris to plant explosives in key locations around camp. Key points like fuel pumps, food and water and munitions. A plan of which would send the raiders and gunners to panic, we'll take pot shots to take as many as possible until backup arrives. Once backup has arrived we hit them with everything we got. The group nodded in agreement looking confident and understanding of the plan.
The plan was going perfectly, so far Glenn and Colvin distraition hooked the raiders and gunners like a fish, setting off alarms in different locations just outside the Hq peeking all the interest. Vincent and the sentinel planted all the explosives in precise locations before regrouping back with the group. All we had to do now was wait for both of the Groups of enemies to go back to camp so they could create maximum amount of damage, taking out as many as they can before backup arrives.
Reilly's Rangers. Merc group the lone wanderer helped back before project purity, Riley was their fierce leader with tied back orange hair, Butcher was lover and her second in command, the team consisted of three new members since then. Sydney and her very close friend Emaline. And Charon, a companion of the lone wanderer who freed him. They all worked and got on with the team very well, all skilled.
It's been almost two hours since she received a request for backup from the lone wanderer, if he's asking for help, it definitely means trouble. She showed no reluctance and insisted on bringing the whole team on the vertibird they acquired from the enclave invasion.
When they hovered over Germantown HQ, all they saw was fire and chaos, raiders and gunners scrambling to organise the mess that had happened while firing shots from a distance. "Rangers ready, FIRE"
After her order they quickly decimated the raiders and gunners in a matter of minutes feeling like seconds, while hovering over germantown HQ, Reily spotted in a distance, The lone wanderer, two brotherhood soldiers and a wastelander from the looks of him, rushing ahead towards the remaining enemies like the old world game of American football. Blitz, a tactic used more aggressively varying from sport to real life, life or death scenarios meaning it giving them all or nothing, something Reilly noticed about the lone wanderer when they first met, the fire, the determination and the all or nothing attitude he possessed.
The battle raged on for minutes before the enemies were no more, Brick was disappointed it didn't last longer, they lowered their longitude to safely land, finding an open area just outside the fences of the old police station.
" Well well Lone Wanderer, long time no see and I see you have friends." Reily eagerly introduced them.
"Reily, thanks for the help, honestly went better than expected, these are my friends, Sentinel lyons of Lyons pride, Knight captain Colvin and Glenn Clarke." Vincent introduced them to the rangers.
"glad we could be of assistance," Riley said before a familiar figure approached.
"If only it was the best relic hunter in the waste, it's good to see you again," sydney said with a smile.
"second best, good to see you join the rangers." Vincent said before noticing Glenn walk to a chair just outside the fences, slumped over.
As they all made their introductions, Charon introduced himself like charon usual demeanour, with a few words and a respectful nod, man of few words, he always had respect in charon, tall, strong and extremely disciplined and loyal.
As everyone went about their own business, scavenging the rotting corpses for ammo and supplies, Vincent Harris went inside to enter the police station, maybe reminisce on his time saving the kids from big town or just see inside for clues on the raiders and the recently informed of gunners.
Sarah watched him as he entered before maintaining her laser rifle while observing Colvin by her side sending prayers to the raider scum and gunners, Sarah just shrugged. Monsters like them don't deserve prayers, she's mentioned why he prays for all the people and even monsters they put down.
Inside the police station, Vincent searched for any documents or any survivors fled inside during the attack, finding none he sat down on a chair in the police station kitchen. Stuck in thought over last few week or two, he's been that hectic and busy, he didn't realise how long its been since see last contacted Amata, great husband materiel Vincent, Vincent went into his bag and pulled out a walkie talkie he found a few months ago while scavenging up north at a abandoned radio station. Found a bunch of them, kept one for himself and one for Amata so they can keep in touch when he is out in the wastes, he gives the rest to the brotherhood and Sarah Lyons. Finding the right frequency he started calling her name till he got a reply, almost five seconds after calling her name she responded.
"Hello Vincent, I thought you've lost your walkie talkie or have you just been neglecting your fiance." Amata replies both softly but firmly.
"I know Amata, I know, the past few weeks have been really hectic and you deserve an apology, I should have at least contacted you sooner. I'll make it up to you, I swear." desperate apology and hopeful.
"Well one way to make it up to me is to make it to me Vince, i am getting awfully lonely and sad at the vault. Amata's teasing voice sent shivers into Vincent. Damn he really missed hearing her voice.
"I've missed you, i'll be home soon babe, just finishing up business out here first then i'll tend to your loneliness your highness." smirking as he talked.
"If you dont mind your highness requesting the reason you've been really busy, you owe me that." Amata eager to hear what Vincent has been upto.
"Well, the Raiders have been attacking caravans and even brotherhood outposts as well. Me and Lyon's pride and a victim from one of the caravans have learned from Three dog that they've got a compound in an old police station up north. Found out they've been getting supplied by a dangerous merc group out of Boston, We attacked and dealt with them just now, that's when I decided to give you a ring, my schedule should be clear to get back to you my love." Vincent not spurring any information to her.
"Well you have been busy haven't you, well, when you get back i have a surprise waiting for you."
Before he was about to respond, he heard what sounded almost like the warhead used at Adams air force base during the attack of the base, with no time he heard it contact the building before seeing rubble fall down onto him. Before he fell unconscious, he could hear Amata's desperate screams and cries. Please not like this, shit.
