Super Smash Bros Adventures chapter 19

Mario and Fox are having a battle on the stage, Corneria. Fox shoots out Lasers with his Blaster from the other side of the stage. Mario runs side to side to avoid the Lasers and attacks with his Punch-Punch-Kick Combo. Fox blocks each attack coming at him and strikes back with a Crescent Kick, knocking Mario away from him, and then rushes in with a Flying Kick. Mario dodges the Kick, grabs both of Fox's legs, spins him around like a tornado, and throws him off the stage. Fox recovers back using his Fox Illusion technique, charges up his Blaster, and shoots it right away. Mario reflects it back with his Super Leaf Cape and charges right in. Fox uses his Reflector to reflect it back again, hitting Mario into the air, jumps towards him and drags him down with a barrage of Air Kicks, and follows it with a Smash Split Kick, sending Mario off stage. Mario jumps up to grab onto the ledge, but Fox blocks him by hitting him with his Reflector, then he tries to recover again with his double jump, but was knocked away further by Fox's Air Spin Kick, then finally Mario recovers back on stage with his Super Jump Punch, knocking Fox away. Fox rushes in and attacks with some Punches and a flurry of Kicks. Mario blocks his attacks, then lands a strong Punch on his stomach, knocking Fox away from him, sends him flying again with another strong Punch, and follows it with an Air Punch, knocking him down off the stage. Fox was about to recover with his Fire Fox, but suddenly the turrets of the Great Fox shot at him toward the blast zone , ended up making him lose the match and making Mario the winner.

...

The two Smashers return back to the Smash Mansion and shake hands after a nice battle.

"Never thought I would be shot at by my own ship." Fox says.

"The irony isn't it?" Mario says.

"Yeah. If Falco saw this, he would've laughed at me and be all like, I'm the captain now!" Fox mocks.

"Who said I wouldn't?" Falco greeted them.

Fox sighs. "You saw the fight didn't you?"

"That's right. I couldn't help myself laughing. It was hilarious!" Falco says, as he laughs again.

"Falco… Wouldn't be funny if that were you instead of me?" Fox asks.

"Umm no…" Falco answers.

"Exactly. Now stop laughing." Fox says.

"Calm down. Sometimes you can have a bad temper sometimes. I don't understand why Krystal likes someone like you." Falco wonders.

"Because, I'm a respectful captain who always do everything he can for the team with good looks. You're just jealous you don't have a girlfriend." Fox says, smirking.

"Yeah right… I decided to go solo, remember?" Falco reminds.

"You knew Katt had feelings for you. Why didn't accept them? You would've gotten a girlfriend before me." Fox asks.

"I don't know. Just want to be on my own for now. You know, it's not that bad being single since you don't have to worry about losing someone and your wallet. Isn't that right, Mario?" Falco asks.

"Yeah… I guess…" Mario answers, slowly remembering how he lost Peach to someone else.

"Falco!" Fox angrily says.

"What? I was just… Oh… Sorry, kind of went out of hand. Didn't mean to offend you or anything." Falco apologizes.

"It's all right. I thought that I would get over it by now, but seems like I have a lot to work on." Mario sighs.

"You know, Falco's right on one thing. If I don't want to lose someone I care for a lot, I should send Krystal a letter to see how she's doing." Fox says.

"Why not just see her in person?" Falco asks.

"I would, but Sakurai said that he hasn't finished making something for us to go back to our worlds freely yet and that it'll take some time. I also asked him if he can make one for us, but he already made a Smash Portal for someone else. The best thing we can do is just find a mission for us to go back to our world." Fox says.

"Luckily for us, I found one before someone took it." Falco says, showing Mario and Fox the mission post.

"Let's see here… "New volunteers to test out Arwing."" Mario reads the mission post.

"Who posted this mission?" Fox wonders.

"Who cares? This is a chance we can see Slippi, Peppy, and Krystal again." Falco says.

"And I'm actually interested in trying out the Arwing you guys always use for missions." Mario says.

"Ok then. I'll teach you some basics when we arrive. Just don't be reckless like Falco here." Fox says.

"Reckless is my middle name." Falco says smirking.

Mario, Fox, and Falco arrived at the Great Fox, the main ship they use as their base/home.

"Mario, welcome to the Great Fox. This Aircraft is our main Base where we store our vehicles such as the Arwings, Landmasters and go on missions." Fox introduces, showing him around.

"Wow! Everything is so high tech!" Mario says amusingly.

"This place is basically our home. If I could name it, the Perfect Falco would be a better name." Falco says with a grin.

"No way! My father was the one that made this so we're going to be keeping this name." Fox argued.

"Pfft. Whatever you say, "Leader"." Falco teases.

As Fox is about to throw a fit, two of Fox and Falco's companions Peppy and Slippy appear to greet the three Smashers.

"Hello there fellow-. Wait, Fox, Falco?!" Peppy and Slippy say at the same time.

"Ah. Peppy, Slippy, it's good seeing you again." Fox happily greeted.

"How's things going while we're gone?" Falco asks.

"Things have been going great! Me and Peppy have been doing some missions for General Pepper and we've been helping out the civilians around Corneria." Slippy happily says.

"So how's it been with the two of you? Have you been doing well in your fighting exhibition?" Peppy asks.

"Yeah. It's a lot of fun being over there. We get to fight many different fighters from different worlds with their own unique way of fighting styles." Fox explains.

"Hmm… You must be one of these fighters Fox is talking about." Peppy wonders.

"That's right! The name's Mario!" Mario happily greeted.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Peppy." Peppy greeted.

"And I'm Slippy! It's nice having you here." Peppy happily greeted.

Falco smirks. "Funny sorry to tell you two. Mario and Fox were having a battle on top of the Great Fox. It was a close battle until Mario knocks Fox off the ship and suddenly, he got shot by the ship's turrets and lost the match."

Peppy and Slippy look at Fox, who looks really embarrassed and bursts out laughing.

"That was really unlucky of you, Fox. Maybe you should've gone for a Barrel Roll." Peppy teases.

"And I thought I was clumsy!" Slippy says.

"You're always clumsy in our battles." Fox reminds.

"You're right about that!" Slippy says as he starts laughing.

"So Mario, are you interested in flying the Arwing?" Peppy asks.

"Of course! Sounds like fun." Mario replies.

"Then allow us to teach you the basics." Slippy says.

"By the way, where's Krystal?" Fox asks.

"Oh she went out to Corneria City to buy some groceries." Peppy replies.

"She really miss seeing you, Fox. Why not go there and surprise her?" Slippy suggests.

"It's been months since I've last seen her. I'll go and say hello to her." Fox says.

"Heh, maybe Panther used the chance we were gone to make a move on her." Falco jokes.

"Don't you dare mention him taking Krystal away from me like that!" Fox angrily says.

"Just joking. Seriously, you really can't take some jokes." Falco teases.

Peppy and Slippy takes Mario to the garage of the Great Fox where they store all the vehicles they use for combat such as the Arwings and the Landmaster. Mario was really amused as he looks up close to the Arwing that Peppy and Slippy are going to teach him to fly.

"Wow! Look at this beauty! Even though I was shot by this from Fox during our battles, it's still awesome to see it in person!" Mario happily says.

"The Arwing is our main vehicle when we go on missions." Peppy explains.

"How about we let you get inside?" Slippy suggests.

"Sound great!" Mario excitingly says.

Peppy opens up the door of the Arwing and Mario's hops inside and notice a lot of buttons.

"Wow, look at all these buttons. Must be really hard to fly this." Mario says.

"Don't worry. When I first flew the Arwing, I had trouble getting use to. After doing practice runs with Fox and the others, I'm a master pro in it." Slippy says.

"But you still get far behind after all these years together." Peppy mentions.

"You're right about that." Slippy says, as he giggles.

"Now let me explain on how to fly the Arwing." Peppy explains the basic rules on how to start the Arwing, how to fly it upwards and downwards, how to shoot the weapons, and a lot more. "Do you understand what I'm explaining, Mario?"

"I got most of it I guess. There's just a lot of buttons I don't think I need to use. But I think I know what I'm doing." Mario says.

"Great! I'll be riding with you just in case something goes wrong, I'll be here to assist." Slippy says, as he gets on.

"Kind of a tight fit, but that's ok." Mario says.

"Now then, you have fun now. And make sure you don't fly recklessly like Falco." Peppy says.

"Don't worry, I won't." Mario says.

Mario flies around the Arwing in moderate speed, slowly learning how to get use to flying it.

"This is pretty fun to fly." Mario says.

"It really is. It's nice to fly around with it when you have free time to goof off or grab something to eat with." Slippy says.

"Where should I fly to?" Mario asks.

"Hmm… fly straight and turn right." Slippy orders.

Mario does what he told and continues flying straight after turning right. "What now?"

"Hmm… How about a backflip? That's a nice trick you can do." Slippy suggests.

"If you say so." Mario does what he was asked too and did a backflip, surprising Slippy. "How's that?"

"That was awesome! You did great for your first time! Are you sure you're a beginner of piloting the Arwing?" Slippy asks.

"I actually know how to pilot a plane in my world. So I got some experience on other flying vehicles." Mario says.

"Well then there's no problem for you flying the Arwing. You can fly as freely now then." Slippy says.

As soon as Mario is about to fly around more, their screen detected something dangerous around then.

"What's this?" Mario asks.

"Oh no, we're under attack!" Slippy says, looking at the screen.

Slippy looks out the window and sees some Venom Fighters, Invader III Fighters, and Bolse Fighters flying straight towards them.

"Slippy, Mario, you got to get out of there quickly!" Peppy says.

"Already on it. You know the drill, Mario." Slippy says.

"I'm not leaving without a fight. To be honest, this is exciting." Mario says.

"What are you thinking? You just started flying the Arwing and you want to take on all those enemies by yourself?! Slippy, take the wheel and head back to the Great Fox." Peppy worryingly says.

"I believe in him, Peppy. Mario said that he has experience flying other vehicles, so I'll let him be the one to fly. If anything goes bad I'll take over." Slippy says.

Peppy sighs. "If you say so. I'll assist from here then."

"Don't worry, I'll have it under control." Mario says.

"Show us what you got." Slippy says.

"And again, don't be reckless like Falco." Peppy says.

The Enemy attacks Mario and Slippy with a barrage of Lasers. Mario quickly fly around the Lasers and shoots back with their own Lasers, taking out two Venom, Invader III, and Bolse Fighters.

"Nice shooting, Mario. Watch out behind you." Peppy warns.

Mario looks back at the enemy jets chasing after him, does a huge backflip to get behind the enemy, and shoots down five more enemy jets down. Two Venom Fighters and Bolse Fighters each got on the side of the Arwing and prepare to shoot together.

"Do a Barrel Roll!" Peppy exclaims.

Mario smirks and does a quick Barrel Roll, avoiding the Lasers and having the enemies take down each other. Only a few more enemies left, Mario follows after them, charges up the Laser and fires a strong blast, taking care of the rest of the enemies.

"Yahoo!" Mario cheered.

"Way to go, Mario!" Slippy cheered.

"Magnificent job out there. I really thought you were just a beginner." Peppy surprisingly says.

"Now that's over, let's get out of-" Mario got interrupted by a hit on the left wing of the Arwing.

Out of nowhere, hordes Venom, Invader III, and Bolse Fighters appeared, surrounding Mario and Slippy.

"Oh no! We're trapped!" Slippy exclaims.

"This is too much for my standards." Mario says.

"Slippy, Mario, I'm coming!" Peppy exclaims.

"Don't worry, leave it to us."

"Just sit back and let us have the fun."

Suddenly, two more Arwings appeared and shoots down the hordes of enemies.

"What was that?" Mario asks, watching the enemy ships explode.

"It's Fox and Falco. They're here!" Slippy says, with a sigh of relief.

"Looks like you got yourself in a tight spot, Mario." Fox says.

"Let us do the rest and show you how we do our job." Falco says.

Mario watches as the two of them fly around, shooting the enemy jets down. He was amazed how Fox flies the Arwing in a professional style, while Falco flies around recklessly, but in sync when taking down the enemies together. Enemies were shot down left to right, Fox and Falco fly around like they were the birds flowing through the skies and after just a few minutes, all the enemy ships are gone.

"Good job, Falco." Fox says.

"Peace of cake." Falco says.

"Thank goodness!" Slippy happily says.

"That's a relief. Head back to the Great Fox." Peppy says.

"Not a problem. Let's head back to base." Fox says.

As the group fly back together to the Great Fox, a surprise Bolse Fighter fly in and charges straight at Fox's Arwing by surprise. Then suddenly, a Laser out of nowhere took it out.

"What now?" Mario asks.

"Did either of you shoot that Laser?" Slippy asks.

"Not me." Falco says.

"Same here. Where did it come from?" Fox wonders.

"Whatever that is saved you, Fox." Peppy says.

"Whoever did that will have my thanks. If I ever get to meet that person." Fox says, as the group fly to the Great Fox.

In a far distance a red a gray looking Arwing ship is watching as the three Arwings get back to their base safely. And the one who's flying it is no other than Fox's rival, Wolf.

"If there's one person that is going to take you down, it's me." Wolf says, as he flies away.

Mario followed Fox and Falco back to the Great Fox safely and parked the Arwing into the garage.

"Phew, I thought we were goners until you guys showed up." Mario says.

"Thanks for saving us!" Slippy thanked.

"No need to thank us. That's what friends are for." Fox says.

"By the way, you did really good for flying the Arwing the first time, Mario." Falco says.

"Yeah, I was impressed. The way you were flying it was a lot better than I expected." Fox says.

"And the way you fought the enemy ships was sick too." Falco stated.

"Wait… how did you know all this? I thought you two went to see Krystal." Mario asks.

"Well the truth is, we were watching from a far distance." Fox admits.

"We wanted to judge how well you're going to pilot the Arwing. And if I want to be honest, you did better than Slippy when he first tried." Falco compliments.

"Wow… thanks Falco…" Slippy says.

"You're still a good pilot Slippy. Don't let Falco bring you down." Fox says.

"I'm not upset. I also think Mario did a great job. Better than me." Slippy admits.

"Thanks guys." Mario thanked.

"I'm glad that everything went well. By the way Fox, Krystal will be here soon. She's on her way back right now." Peppy says.

Fox's face turns red. "Really? Umm… what do I say to her? It's been a while since we've been on contact."

"What would you say, Mario?" Falco asks.

"Huh? Why asking me?" Mario asks.

"You were in a relationship with a girl before. What would you do in this kind of situation?" Falco asks.

"Maybe something simple like how are you doing or what have you been up to?" Mario replies.

"You're right about that, mister."

The familiar voice was heard by the Star Fox crew. They turn around and see their blue Fox female friend, Krystal who just got back from shopping.

"Fox, Falco, it's been a while." Krystal happily greeted.

Fox stares at Krystal and slowly remembers how beautiful she is. "Ahh… Hello again, Krystal… H… how are-"

"I'm doing just fine, Fox. We haven't contact each other for a while." Krystal says, looking a bit angry.

"Krystal, I'm sorry we haven't seen each other for a while. Right now, the host of the tournament we're in is making something for us so we can see each other more often. But it'll take a while so if you can just wait a little longer, I promise that I'll come visit you a lot more." Fox says.

Krystal smiles. "I know you would. That's why I'll be waiting so we can get together more often again. She goes up to him and hugs him tightly. "I'm so happy to see you again, Fox."

Fox's face turns really red as everyone around them smile, while Falco smirks and gives him a thumb up. He places his arms around Krystal and hugs her tightly. "Me too, Krystal. Me too."

"Get a room, you two!" Falco teases.

Fox and Krystal let go of each other and turn the other direction of each other, feeling embarrassed.

"Since we have a special guest here, allow me to make something special for today's dinner." Krystal says.

"That'll be great." Mario says.

"We got to tell you how he did on the Arwing." Slippy says.

"We could recruit him to the team." Peppy says.

"Nah, four is enough." Falco says.

"What's wrong with having another member to the team? I say Mario could be a great addition." Fox says.

"Can't wait to hear what he experienced." Krystal says.

As everyone head to the kitchen together, Mario sees Fox and Krystal holding hands together, making him miss the old times he did that with Peach, but happy at the same time for them.
