Chapter Three.
While Juliet was fast sound asleep, her music box was still playing and that was when it lulled her to sleep by the peaceful and loving music. Mathews fell asleep with tears down on her face. The music tune reminded her of her parents and she missed them greatly since that tragic day when she was eleven years old. She was exhausted and overwhelmed from all the stress from her former boyfriend and the long train ride going north bound. It was a very good thing that she had gotten out of there. Just then, there was the sound of a squeaking sound coming from outside of the window. It was a giant bat with brown eyes and he is out for more blood. His needing urge for more blood was getting the best of him.
Just then a moment later, Barnabas appeared in to Juliet's hotel room. He looked down at Mathews in between the look of content kindness, love and the urging need for blood. To him, she looked so very beautiful in the moon light was shining on her face and he saw that her music box top was opened and it was still playing. Hearing this music was beautiful to his sharp hearing ears. He was just about to get her next for blood. The vampire stared down at her and he began when he bent down, baring his fangs. And just as Juliet turned her head in her sleep, her face was towards the vampire. Something within Barnabas clicked. He actually stopped himself from biting her. He could not bring himself to bite her.
Something about this woman to the vampire was that he sensed her love, generosity, innocence, shy, sadness and loneliness. He wondered as to why she felt so sad and lonely. He also felt very drawn to her and he read her mind that she had lost her family at a young age when he saw her tear stained face. She cried herself to sleep every night. Barnabas did remembered what Victoria told him about when she was raised at an Orphanage. The vampire then realized that Winters and Juliet both have a lot in common. Barnabas eyes softened even more as he lifted his hand towards her and he gently caressed her hair without waking her up. 'I would like to see you again some time.' The vampire thought to himself.
His unbeating heart went out to Mathews and he knew how she felt. The vampire knew that he would lose Vicki to Burke, but now, he wants something or someone he wanted more right in front of him, under his very nose. It was Juliet J. Mathews that Barnabas Collins wants and not Victoria Winters. The vampire wants to know more about this woman soon enough. The perfume of Jasmine coming from Mathews was very intoxicating to Barnabas and he knew that smell any where.
The vampire caressed her hair some more without waking her up before he stepped away from her and he stood in front of the window and he just stared at her with a loving look on his face towards her. Barnabas knew that he was falling in love with this woman. He felt that he needed someone to take Josette's place as his bride and he felt that this woman was the one for him. He was hoping that no one would get in the way of his happiness once again. Barnabas would have his bride soon. The vampire looked at her for a moment before he disappeared from her room and he turned into a bat outside of her window and he flew out into the night. Barnabas had a lot of thinking and planning to do about her.
The next morning, Juliet woke up and she felt that she had a dream that some one was there in her hotel room from the night before and she was wondering why. She got up out of bed and she freshened up before she got dressed. She came down stairs and she told the owner that she was going to the Collinsport restaurant next doorto ge some breakfast and coffee and orange juice and then she would be right back. The owner was okay with this and he remembered from what Mathews told him that she had the movers coming to drop off her paintings and her things in the early afternoon. Juliet felt something that pull her to coming to Collinsport for a reason.
At the restaurant, Maggie Evens was there working and she saw a woman walked in. "Good morning and what can I get you on this pretty sunny morning?" Maggie asked her.
Juliet smiled at her when she sat down on the stool at the counter. "Yes, some coffee, a glass of orange juice and an egg and cheese sandwich on rye, please." She said.
Maggie gave her a warm smile as she placed her order in for the cook to make her breakfast and she got her a glass and a mug and she poured her coffee in a long with cream and surgar and her orange juice. She placed the drinks on the counter in front of Mathews. Evans was rather curious about this woman. "So, ma' am, where are you from and why are you around here in Collinsport?" She asked her with wondering why she was her in a small town.
Juliet placed her coffee down after drinking a few sips. She chuckled at her question. She knew that Collinsport was a very small town. "Well, it's a very long story. I'm here from New York and I just want to come live here for some peace and quiet. I also feel that something pulled me here for some reason." She said as Maggie nodded in understanding. Evans wondered at this as well about this pull that Juliet was feeling. "I live here now, so I can visit Vicki Winters." Maggie then realized that her and Victoria were good friends. "I had to get out of Manhattan, from my former boyfriend." She added. Evans felt sympathy for this woman for what she was going through before she came to live in Collinsport.
Maggie introduced herself to her. Juliet and Evans shook hands and she told her what her name was and Maggie was laughing with joy that she finally met the Juliet J. Mathews herself in person. Mathews told Evans that her and Vicki were waised in an Orphanage and also told her what had happened to her parents. Maggie felt bad that she had to go through with that. But everything else is all well. Maggie told her that her father, Sam Evans was an artist himself and Juliet was interested in this. She would like to meet her father some time.
After she ate her delicious breakfast, Juliet paid for her meal and gave Maggie a good tip and Evans was very pleased about this indeed. She gave her a twenty dollar bill. Her and Maggie became friends. Mathews bid her a good day and walked straight back to the Inn.
Later on before the afternoon struck the hour, Juliet saw the movers driving the truck and coming to a stop on the side of the road and the owner saw this and he a long with his helper moved some things out of the way for them to go up the stairs to her hotel room. One by one, the movers walked up stairs and placed her things and her paintings into her room.
Just before the movers left, Mathews gave them each twenty five dollars for a tip. they were very pleased when Juliet told them to get something to eat and drink on their way back to New York. And after the movers left, the owner went back to do his work routine at the desk and Juliet went back up the stairs to sort out her paintings and her things to get herself settled.
After twelve in the afternoon, Juliet had some lunch at the restaurant and she saw Maggie once again and they talked in what was going on before she walked back to the Inn and she was sorting out her things and she heard the phone ringing and she answered it and it was Victoria, calling her from Collinwood. Vicki asked her if she could come over for a visit and possibly staying for dinner. "I would like that, Vicki, very much." She said over the phone. "What time are you and Burke coming to pick me up?" Juliet asked her friend. Winters told her they would come and get her around six in the evening. "Okay, I'll see you then, Vicki." She said happily before she hung up the phone.
Juliet was so happy that she would spend some time with Victoria. She wondered about what the Collins family at Collinwood would think about her coming over to meet the family she wondered. She hoped that they would like her. So, she went over to the closet to pick out a dress to wear to visit Vicki at Collinwood and she picked out a dress that had light purple and gold that went passed her knees and a pair of shoes to go with her dress. This would be an interesting day for Juliet J. Mathews.
