Chapter Eight.
At Collinwood, in her bedroom, Vicki was in Juliet's bedroom and Mathews was lying down on her left side and her head rested on the Governess' lap, crying her eyes out. Winters was sitting right next to her and she rubbed her friend's back, trying to sooth her. Victoria then looked towards the door when Liz walked in to the painter's room, gazing at Juliet and she felt terrible for her. She needed to do something to help prevent Eric from going to kill Mathews. "Vicki, go to the Old House and tell Barnabas that Juliet needs him and also tell him what is going on please?" She asked her.
Winters said that she would and she did what she was told. Vicki told Juliet that she had to get up. Mathews nearly sat up when Vicki stood up from the bed and she walked out of the bedroom. Juliet needed Barnabas. Elizabeth went over to the bed and she sat down and Mathews laid her head back down on to her lap while she cried. "I need Barnabas." She cried tearfully. She was scared for her life and she now knew that Eric was coming for her to kill her. "Oh, Mrs. Stoddard, what am I going to do?" She cried as she clutched on to Elizabeth. Liz rubbed her back and pulled her hair back to comfort her. She would do anything in her power to get Eric. She would tell Roger about this whole situation later when he gets back from the Collins Cannery.
At the Old House in the basement, in his coffin, Barnabas knew it was not the time to open his coffin just yet. He opened his eyes and he could sense that his Juliet was in distress. "Later on, my dearest Juliet. I will come to you and protect you. You will be all right, my dearest. I will come to you later tonight." The vampire said as he felt her crying about something. He could also feel her emotions were bouncing off the walls and the vampire could feel that there was danger coming to his beloved Juliet and the feel of her being scared for her life. Barnabas wanted to come out at that moment, but he knew that could not just yet though.
Moments later at the Old House, Victoria walked over to the front door and she knocked a little frantically. Willie Loomis opened the door after a moment of her knocking. Loomis saw Winters with concern. "Oh, hi, Miss Winters. Is there anything you need while you're here?" He asked her when he let her in to the house.
Victoria looked at Willie with the look of concern on her face and Loomis noticed this. "Willie, is Mr. Collins here? My good friend, Juliet Mathews is asking for him. She needs him." She asked him.
Willie raised his eyebrows in surprise. "You mean she's the painter from New York that everyone is talking about?" He asked and Winters nodded yes. Willie was smiling at this, but then, he becomes serious. "I'm sorry, Miss Winters, Mr. Collins is out of town on for the day and he won't be back here until later on this evening. What's going on?" He asked her. He knew that Barnabas was in his coffin sleeping for the time being. Vicki told Loomis that Juliet was crying about her former boyfriend coming up to Collinsport after her with a gun to kill her.
Willie was shocked of this information about Mathews was in grave danger. He noticed from the night before then after when Barnabas climbed out of his coffin, thinking and planning about Juliet would become his bride sometime, if she would come to him willingly, in which he knew that she would come to him. Mathews loves the vampire very much as he loves her and he would give her eternal life. Loomis told Vicki that Barnabas would come back later on this evening and he would tell him of what was going on. The vampire would do anything to love and protect his Juliet from anything or anyone, who would harm her in any way possible.
After they spoke some more, Victoria left to go back to Collinwood to take care of Mathews' distress and Willie closed the door behind him. He knew that he needed to tell Barnabas the minute he climbs out of his coffin about what Vicki had told him. He hoped that Juliet would be all right. Willie went on to do his duties around the Old House before Barnabas wakes from his slumber.
Later on at six thirty in the evening, the sun was setting right below the trees, the vampire opened his coffin. He saw Willie the minute he walked down the stairs to meet him. Loomis saw the worried look on his face. "Willie, I must go to Collinwood to help Juliet. I can feel her distress."
Barnabas said to him. He must go to her to comfort her.
Willie looked at him in the eyes. "Barnabas, Miss Winters told me that Miss Mathews' former boyfriend is coming up here to kill her with a gun. It sounds like he wants revenge on her." He told the vampire. Barnabas knew that his servant was pretty serious about what had been going on. Now he would do anything in his power to protect his Juliet and he would get Eric for what he was going to do to his soon to be his bride.
Barnabas' eyes widened from what Loomis just told him. His soon to be bride. His dearest Juliet was really in grave danger. Loomis was just about to say something when the vampire gave him the look on his face to tell him not to argue with him. Barnabas went up the stairs to grab his cape coat and his wolf's head cane hanging by the front door. "Go do your duties out side while I go to Collinwood to stay with Juliet. Do what you can and then, come back here. Her life is now in danger and I must protect her from this man." He said and Barnabas finally opened up and he told his servant that he really loves Mathews. The vampire then opened the door and he walked out going towards Collinwood to comfort Juliet.
Willie was afraid that if Juliet finds out that Barnabas was a vampire, he might kill. Or maybe, Juliet would not be afraid of him. But she would be afraid of losing him, thinking that he may disappear. Barnabas would know for sure that he and Mathews are soulmates. Juliet felt the pull when she moved to Collinsport. Perhaps that feeling of the pull had brought Juliet to the vampire. We will soon find out.
