part 1:
Yuuki was asked by Saren to babysit Ayane and Kurumi for the weekend as she had things to take care of in Landsol's capital. Yuuki knew the orphanage where the kids stayed well, at it was where he, Kokkoro, and Pecorine once stayed a long while back.
Upon opening the door, he was greeted by Kurumi.
"Oh, hey Yuuki. I'm glad you're here." Kurumi said shly.
"Did Saren leave already?"
"Yeah. She said she wanted to wait for you to get here, but what she was dealing with was urgent."
"I see. Where's Ayane?" Yuuki asked.
"She's in the kitchen eating some soup Saren made for us before she left."
Yuuki walked into the kitchen to see Ayane eating soup, with her good friend Puukichi standing up in the chair next to her.
"Hey Ayane and Puukichi." Yuuki said.
"Hey Yuuki, glad you're here!" Ayane said with a smile.
"According to Ayane, there's going to be a big storm tonight." Puukichi said, or in this case "said." Yuuki still believed that Puukichi talking was mostly done by Ayane, though he kept that to himself as he knew it would upset the girl greatly. Playing along, Yuuki brought up the storm between the two.
"A storm huh? First I'm hearing of it."
"Well…it's supposed to be a bad, bad thunderstorm tonight." Kurumi said.
"The type that would shake the whole house!" Ayane said, causing Kurumi to tear up a bit.
"Don't say that Ayane! You know I hate thunderstorms!"
"Hey it's OK Kurumi, if you get scared, you can just crawl in bed with me tonight. Or we could both go ahead and crawl into bed with Yuuki."
"I'd rather we not do that, as I don't think Saren would like that very much."
"But Yuuki, doesn't Kokkoro sleep in bed with you?" Puukichi said.
"And I'm pretty sure there was a time when you stayed here that Pecorine and Kokkoro both slept in your bed." Ayane added. This was referring to after the explosion that happened a long while back before Pecorine had rightfully taken her place at the throne. Somehow, someway, not only did Yuuki make it back alive, but he also woke up with Pecorine and Kokkoro by his side.
"That…well, that was kind of different." Yuuki said, scratching his cheek nervously.
"Come on Yuuki, you're like a big brother to Ayane and Kurumi! Don't you want to protect them from the big scary storm tonight?" Puukichi said in a stern tone.
"I do, and I will! It's just, well…I"m sure there are other ways of protecting the girls then by having them sleep in my bed, that's all." Yuuki said. "Specifically, ways that won't get me thrown in jail for being a lolicon." he thought to himself.
"You better be right, mister!" \
"Puukichi is right. We have to have big brother Yuuki protect us both from the storm that's going to happen tonight!" Ayane said.
"Let's just see if this storm is even going to happen. We haven't really gotten too many of these lately, which is a shame as we could really use the rain."
Sadly for the girls, the storm was coming, in more ways than one…
Later that day gray clouds started to roll into the area, and Yuuki could smell the rain in the air.
"Well, it looks like there is going to be a storm tonight." Yuuki said to himself.
Maybe it was because of the dark clouds that blocked out the rain, but Yuuki felt as though it was just a little too dark for the afternoon. Outside it seemed like it was nighttime already, dispute the fact that it was summer, where the sun stayed out later in the day.
"It looks very nasty out there." Puukichi said.
"I agree. It looks like it's going to rain any minute now." Ayane added.
"Not just that…I feel as though something else is going to happen…something not good."
"W-what do you mean by that Puukichi?"
"Something feels off…" Puukichi said in a stern tone. The mood in the room suddenly changed from light to dark in a matter of minutes. Kurumi hung onto Yuuki as though her life depended on it.
"Listen, I'm sure everything is going to be alright." Yuuki said, trying to calm everyone down.
"I don't doubt you'll protect us Yuuki, but I just hope you're made more aware of the situation. This isn't just a thunderstorm…it's something more." Puukuchi said, turning to face Yuuki.
"Alright Puukichi that's enough! You're scaring everyone!' Ayane snapped at the bear.
Just then, there was a knock on the door of the house, causing everyone to jump. Ayane ran over to Yuuki, now holding onto him for dear life just like Kurumi was. Yuuki tried to get the girls off his sides, but they clung onto him tightly.
"Don't go, Yuuki!" Kurumi said, tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, what if there's a scary monster out there?" Ayane said.
"Look guys, it will be alright, if a monster is at that door, I'll defeat it." Yuuki said, drawing his sword from his side."
"You promise?"
"I promise everything will be alright Kurumi…" Yuuki said, patting the girl on the head. Kurumi and Ayane stood back as Yuuki slowly but surely made his way to the door, prepared to take care of any monster that was standing there, ready to cause trouble. The weather didn't help ease tensions, as Yuuki could hear the sound of thunder roll in as he made his way closer and closer to the door, alongside the wind picking up.
He reached for the handle, and slowly turned it. There, standing before him was…Ilya.
Yuuki let out a sigh of relief as he saw the vampire girl standing before him.
"Hey Illya."
"Hello servant. Nice day outside isn't it?"
"Would be if it wasn't so rainy out. Come on in before it starts to storm." Yuuki said, inviting the girl inside.
Tensions in the house died down when the two girls saw a girl their age enter the room.
"Who's this?" Ayane asked.
"This is my friend Illya."
"Hey." Illya said, waving to the two girls.
Though the tensions died down, the storm outside was picking up…
part 2
Back at Landsol's castle, Saren had just gotten out of a meeting with Pecorine and other representatives of Landsol. She leaned on the balcony railing that looked over Landsol. The sky matched her mood, dark and depressing.
"Ugh, even with Pecorine in charge it's still hard to get certain things done." she said to herself.
"Hello lady Saren."
Coming up to Saren was Jun, equipt in her heavy armor that kept anybody from seeing her body.
"Oh hey Jun." Saren said. "Taking a break from patrolling the castle grounds?"
"Only momentarily. I have to be on high alert tonight. Apparently there's supposed to be a big storm tonight."
"A big storm huh?"
"Yeah. I wouldn't blame you for thinking it silly of me to be on high alert because of a mere thunderstorm, however, from what I've heard, this storm isn't like most storms. It's controlled by a monster."
"A monster?"
Jun nodded.
Saren looked back over the balcony railing at the sight that laid before her. Over Landsol was a dark gray storm cloud, with lightning flashing from it every now and then. The longer Saren looked at it, the more a sinking feeling in her stomach grew.
"Um Jun, I know we're in recess but I have to go back to my orphanage…" she said, trying not to sound panicked.
"Mind if I tag along?"
"Fine by me…" She said, taking off down the hall with Jun following from behind.
Back at the orphanage, Yuuki had just let in a young Illya who was sitting at the table eating soup. Ayane and Kurumi couldn't help but be fascinated by her clothes.
"That's an interesting attire you got there Illya." Puukichi said.
"Thank you Ayane."
"That wasn't me who said it, that was my friend Puukichi."
"My apologies…" the girl said, before filling her mouth up with more soup. While Illya and the girls were sitting at the table, Yuuki had lit up some candles to bring light into the orphanage.
"Say Illya, how do you know Yuuki?" Kurumi asked.
"Oh Yuuki? He's my servant."
"Servant!?" Kurumi and Ayane said at the same time, surprised by Illya's answer.
"Yuuki! What's the meaning of this?" Puukichi said, getting into Yuuki's face.
Yuuki didn't know what to say or do. He was hoping that Illya wouldn't bring up the fact that she was a vampire, which would in turn cause the kids to freak out. He tried to play it off as best as he could.
"That's just her way of saying I'm her friend, that's all…" Yuuki said.
"That's quite a strange way of calling someone a friend…"
"What exactly is a servant Illya?" Ayane asked.
Illya thought for a moment. As she was thinking, Yuuki tried to stop her, but it was too late.
"Someone who serves someone else and stays with them forever."
"Someone who serves someone for a long time and stays with them forever…doesn't that sound like marriage!?"
"What, Yuuki and Illya are married?" Kurumi said in shock.
"Aw man, I want to marry Yuuki!"
"Ayane! Don't say that, you're not old enough to marry me and I don't want to go to jail!"
"Why would you go to jail for marrying Ayane when she becomes of age? Are you saying you'd rather go to jail than marry Ayane wise guy?" Puukichi said, once again getting into Yuuki's face.
"No, no! I'm saying if Saren heard that she'd be very upset with me and think I'm some kind of loli-con!"
"You already are a loli-con Yuuki! Look at that girl who claims you're her servant. She's around the same age as Ayane and Kurumi! Who are you trying to fool?"
Before things could get even more out of hand, thunder shook the orphanage, causing Ayane and Kurumi to jump onto Yuuki. Once again, the girls were clinging to him for dear life.
"I must say, I'm quite a fan of this weather. Can't say the same about the monsters outside though…"
Yuuki looked outside the window of the orphanage to see an army of cave bats coming towards the orphanage. This was pretty unusual as like their name implies, cave bats could only be found in the caves outside of Landsol, not outside in the open.
"I was hoping I wouldn't have to fight any monsters while watching over you guys…" Yuuki said.
"Well, we're not gonna let you fight alone are we?" Puukichi said.
"Guys, I appreciate the help but-"
"But nothing Yuuki! You've done a lot for us in the past and just today alone! We're going out there to fight the monsters with you!" Ayane said.
Yuuki looked at Kurumi, who also seemed to be putting on a brave face, grabbing her giant bell.
"Alright guys…let's get out there…"
Once outside, the gang was hit by rain and wind, making it hard to fight. Not wanting to blow her cover of being a vampire, Yuuki tried his best to hold his own without powering up the other girls, slashing away at the army of cave bats quickly. Illya used her staff to blast the bats, and Ayane and Kurumi did what they could to hold the monsters at bay.
"Get away you stinking cave bats!" Ayane said, swinging Puukichi around and hitting the bats that came in all directions.
The gang was able to hold the bats at bay, taking them out one by one. Finally, they were down to the last bat, which Yuuki slayed quickly. Yuuki got down on one knee and started panting.
"I gotta do this on my own…" he thought to himself. "I know that if the kids see that Illya is a vampire, they'll freak out, and I can't have that. That said…"
Yuuki's thoughts were interrupted with the sound of a giant roar that echoed throughout the sky.
"W-w-what was that?" Kurumi said, starting to shiver.
The sound of giant wings flapping could be heard as Yuuki and co turned around to see a giant cave bat, bigger than the orphanage standing behind them…
part 3:
The atmosphere was intense as Yuuki, Illya, Kurumi and Ayane stood facing a giant cave bat. The cave bat once again let out a roar, causing Kurumi and Ayane to shiver and cry. Yuuki wanted to use his powers to boost everyone, but he knew that if he did, it would expose Illya as a vampire.
"Yuuki…you should."
"No, I got this…" he told Illya. Yuuki rushed in quickly and took a swing at the giant cave bat. He was able to make contact, but it didn't do him much good, as the bat was barely affected by the attack. Yuuki took another swing, but this time the bat blocked it using his giant wings, knocking Yuuki back.
"Come on Yuuki! You can't do this on your own!" Puukichi said. Yuuki got up on one knee with the help of his sword and tried to go for another attack, but was knocked back once more. Illya used her staff to throw projectiles at the bat to try and distract it, but the bat had its eyes on Yuuki.
The bat grabbed the boy and threw him to the ground hard, almost knocking him out.
"I…I can do this…" Yuuki said, struggling to get back up. The bat then grabbed Yuuki once more, and tossed him right into the side of the orphanage, much to the horror of Ayane and Kurumi.
"Yuuki!" they both shouted. That was the last thing Yuuki heard as he blacked out at that moment. Illya stood there motionless for a second, before finally making her way over to Yuuki. Ayane and Kurumi were already there tending to Yuuki, the two of them sobbing.
"Yuuki! Yuuki! Please be OK!" Kurumi said.
"Stand aside you two…" Illya said calmly.
"Illya? What are you going to do?" Ayane asked.
"Girls, I have a confession to make." Illya said, before wrapping her arms around Yuuki in a tight hug. As soon as she did this, both her and Yuuki glowed. Before the girls eyes, Illya went from looking the same age as them, to looking like a full grown adult.
"I'm a vampire." she said, now with Yuuki in her arms. "My guess is that Yuuki here didn't want to power us up because if he did, that would expose me as one, causing you two to freak out. That said, I mean to harm to Yuuki…" she said, kissing Yuuki on the forehead. She put Yuuki down in front of the girls, before turning to face the cave bat, who didn't look so confident anymore.
"This bat however…that is a different story…" she said, pulling out her staff. With one powerful blast, shot the bat right through the chest, causing it to let out a painful cry. Just like that, the bat was down, and with the bat gone, so was the storm.
Quickly, the clouds in the sky went away, with the only thing left in the sky being the sunset.
Yuuki woke up to find himself tucked in bed. Beside him to his left was Ayane, and to his right Kurumi. Yuuki's body felt sore, especially around his ribs, but other than that he was mostly fine.
"You really need to be careful…"
Yuuki's eyes followed the voice over to Illya, who was standing next to the bed, now in her small girl form.
"I know you mean well servant, and you didn't want the girls to freak out over the fact that I was a vampire, but you could have gotten yourself killed!" Illya said in a harsh hushed tone.
"I'm sorry." Yuuki said.
Illya sighed and went over to Yuuki to pat his head, making her turn back into her adult form.
"You need to be more self-aware my servant. A lot of us in Landsol care about you. You've done a good amount of good for us, whether it just be help with chores, or saving us from monsters. If anything were to happen to you, a lot of us would be heart broken." Illya said. "Especially those who have feelings for you. Dispute popular belief, I think you know exactly who those people are…" she said, before leaving the orphanage and disappearing in the night.
Yuuki stayed up for a bit, thinking about the events of the day and especially of what Illya told her, before the soft breathing of Ayane and Kurumi got him back to sleep.
It was the next day and Saren was back, alongside Jun who had stayed the night at the orphanage. Yuuki was at the table eating with Ayane and Kurumi glued to his side.
"So, from what I understand young man you tried to take on the bat monster by yourself, but got defeated?"
"Yeah…" Yuuki said, not realzing how stupid it was of him to try and take on the giant monster by himself.
"Luckily for Yuuki, the vampire Illya was there to save him by turning into an adult!" Ayane said.
"I didn't know Yuuki's powers could turn people into adults." Puukichi said.
"That's because Illya is a vampire. My powers wouldn't make you guys grow older, just stronger."
"And thank goodness…I don't think I'm ready for the day you two grow up to be adults." Saren said.
"Aw, but why not?" Ayane said in a whiny tone.
"Now, now children. There's no need to rush into adulthood, you should enjoy your time now while you can. Once you grow older, you'll have a lot more responsibilities to take care of." Jun said.
"Is that why Yuuki is always so busy?" Kurumi chimed in.
"Yeah…you could say that."
"I do wish you were more careful though Yuuki. The kids were quite upset seeing you get beat up like that yesterday, and they refused to leave your side." Saren said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry I did that to you guys. I didn't mean to upset anyone…" Yuuki said, patting the two girls on the head.
"Well, you did say you would protect us from any monsters…" Kurumi said in a shy voice.
"How about this, to make it up to you two, I'll take you out to go get ice cream."
"Really!" Ayane said with excitement. Yuuki nodded.
"Alright Yuuki, you can take them out for ice cream, just don't go running into any bat monsters this time OK?"
"Will do Saren."
While on their way to get ice cream, Yuuki promised himself to be more careful in the future. He didn't want anyone to be upset over him getting beaten up again…
