Present Day
Outside of St. Petersburg, Russia
Inside an abandoned barn
Abbey woke with a start as a rough hand closed over her mouth. Her eyes widened and her hands flew up to yank the other one off.
"It's me." A familiar voice next to her said.
She relaxed and Gibbs took his hand from her mouth. She saw the look in his eyes that told her something was wrong.
"There's someone outside." He quietly stood up and pulled his gun from the holster on his hip.
Abbey stood and did the same. Her tiredness quickly left her as her training kicked in. Gibbs pointed to a large tractor near the back of the barn and they made their way over; crouching down behind the large machine and they waited in silence. Abbey heard the barn door roll open and shut effectively trapping them with whoever entered. Boots shuffled around the dusty barn. Tapping Gibbs on the shoulder she held up four fingers. He nodded in agreement. Four people had entered leaving them outnumbered two to one.
"You are sure they are in here?" A Russian accented voice asked.
"Yes." A second voice replied. "The farmer saw two people crossing the field earlier tonight. This is the only place they could have gone."
Abbey recognized the second speaker. It was one of the hired thugs that worked under Viktor, Dimitri. Gibbs pointed to one end of the tractor and then the other. Abbey nodded and they split up. Once they were in position Abbey counted to three in her head and jumped out from behind the tractor, gun drawn.
The four men who entered the barn must not have expected them to be armed as all of their weapons were still holstered. As they struggled to draw their guns shots rang out. The man Abbey was aiming for went down without a sound; a direct hit to the heart. Gibbs clipped Dimitri's arm as he dove behind a stack of hay bales. The other two men took cover as well and Abbey went back behind one of the large wheels of the tractor.
She glanced at Gibbs and he nodded. They both popped back up and fired once again. This time the other men returned fire. A bullet hit the tire and started hissing air. Abbey ducked down and waited for them to stop shooting. She looked back at Gibbs again with wide eyes. They both knew that they were cornered. Bullets continue to whiz their way. As soon as Abbey figured out they were creating cover one of the men appeared behind Gibbs.
"Gibbs!" Abbey shouted a second too late.
The man tackled Gibbs to the ground kicking up a cloud of dirt. Abbey stood to go help him but someone smashed into her from behind and she choked in a mouth full of dirt. As she struggled to get the man off of her, who had to be twice her size, she felt a pinch on her arm and immediately her body started failing her.
Unable to fight back her attacker stood over her and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder. Abbey managed to lift her head up just enough to see Gibbs pinned to the ground by Dimitri and the other man.
"Gibbs…" She whispered and fell unconscious unable to help him.
