St. Petersburg, Russia

Pulkovo Airport

Abbey had just landed in Russia and was waiting for her single bag to appear on the conveyer belt in front of her. The airport wasn't very busy and rightly so. Most people don't have the urge to fly to Russia in January with the freezing temperatures. Her bag rumbled across the belt in front of her and she quickly grabbed it.

Walking through the airport she pulled her coat around her tighter. The large building was very drafty and her coat just wasn't doing the trick. She stuffed the hand that wasn't toting her bag into her pocket and her fingers brushed against something. She pulled it out to examine it. She rubbed the smooth, familiar edge of the large coin that always brought her comfort. It was the challenge coin that she received when she officially became a special agent at the BAU. She always kept the coin with her, especially when flying. It always brought her good luck.

Abbey closed her fist around the coin and sighed. She knew that she couldn't keep it with her or it would quickly blow her cover. With one last look she paused in front of an indoor fountain and tossed it in, silently vowing to come back for it after all of this was over.

She gathered her bag and made to the exit to wave down a taxi. She didn't even care what condition her cover apartment was going to be found in. She just hoped for a few hours of sleep before her mission began.
