Chapter 6- Slayer Scrolls
Chapter 5-Chrissy -
Day 7?
River Run
"Hey... Hey... Hey… lady…." A little girl's voice pesters Chrissy until she wakes.
"What?" Chrissy sleepily asks.
"You are in my bed." A little girl about Tommy's age says.
"Oh, sorry Lucus said I could use it."
"That's okay. Lucus is my daddy and he said to get you up and feed you. Here." She says as she hands Chrissy a wood bowl with some food in it. "My name is Lyn."
"Hi Lyn, I am Chrissy and thank you." Chrissy says as she takes the bowl of what looked like oatmeal.
"You are welcome. Daddy would like to see you when you are ready. He is outside. He also says to let Hadvin sleep. He was up half the night throwing up." Lyn says as she leaves with a bucket that Chrissy could tell she didn't like the smell of.
Chrissy eats in quiet so as not to disturb Hadvin. Every so often Chrissy would glance over at snoring Hadvin and thinks. "I only saved one. He is looking good, but he'll need all the rest he can get." Once she is done eating, she gathers her stuff and heads outside. She finds Lucus speaking with a woman she hadn't seen before.
"Chrissy I am glad that you are awake. This is my wife, Saray. Saray this is the woman who brought Hadvin back."
"Thank you. For bringing him back." Saray says as she walks up to Chrissy and gives her a hug.
Chrissy accepts the hug.
"Lay off the lass you are smothering her." Lucus laughs then reminds her. "Don't you need to go back to the Inn and finish baking?"
"Yes. The war has brought more travelers lately. Thank you again." Saray says as she leaves.
"No problem. Have a good day." Chrissy says as she watches Saray leave. "She is a nice lady."
"Chrissy for what you did for my family I would like to thank you so you may choose any one thing from my shop." Lucus tells her.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. It is the least I could do. Considering I would like to ask a favor of you." Lucus says.
"I don't know. I really need to get back on the road and meet my friends." Chrissy says as she looks over some nice stronger looking gauntlets.
"Take them they are my best." Lucus tells her.
"Thanks, but you may not want to give them to me. I have bad news about Helena." Chrissy says.
"Hadvin has already told us. In fact, I have several men coming by later today to go and deal with the dead. That is why I need your help. We need someone to inform the yarl of White Run about what happened. He'll send aid while we are gone." Lucus tells her.
"Speaking of the dead. I found these on some of them." Chrissy says as she pulls out the items she found and hands them to him. "I hope you can get them to their families."
"I will try. You are our best choice to go to White run. As Hadvin still needs at least a week to fully recover and he plans on going directly to the General and not White Run."
"Alright I'll go. I'll take the gauntlets but how much for this bow and that quiver full of arrows.?" Chrissy says then asks while putting the gauntlets on.
"I usually get 200 gold for the bow, 30 gold the quiver, and 5 gold for each arrow." Lucus says as he pretends to think about it.
"I'll trade you my old bow, gauntlets and 175 gold for everything.?" Chrissy says knowing that bartering was the way of things here.
"I only see one gauntlet."
"Genny has the other I don't know if it is salvageable as a spider kind of mangled it and left it covered in venom."
"Let me look at the old bow? This is the older imperial bow, but it looks to be in good condition. 190 for the bow and I'll take in trade for my arrows and quiver your old bow and gauntlets." Lucus replies with a little bit of delay just to make it look like he was playing hard. He knew that if he sold it to someone else, he could have easily gotten 500 gold just for the bow as it was one of the more valuable items he had. He but figures it would do the most good in her hands.
"Here than but I'll need to see Genny before I leave, I would like to see if she has anymore health potions just in case." Chrissy says as she gets the gold to give to him.
"That is not necessary I have already put the ones she gave last night in your backpack."
"Are you sure."
"Saray insisted."
"Be sure to thank her for me. You need to be careful I killed three spiders underneath in the cave so if you search there its possible there maybe more. The good news is that there is only one way for the spiders to get out and that is through the cave entrance." Chrissy tells him as she heads out towards White Run.
"Be safe." He says as he watches her leave.
As she passes through the gate the new Warden just waves as she leaves, and she waves back.
Road?
Chrissy had been traveling for a few minutes and was starting to cross the stone bridge when someone came racing after her. "Hey wait up!"
Chrissy stops ready to fight buts holds as she sees the man is unarmed.
"Are you the girl who saved Hadvin?" The man asks.
"I maybe why?" Chrissy asks still not trusting the man.
"My name is Valnor I run the general goods store."
"Okay but what do you want?"
"The same bandits that took my golden claw have now also taken my sister Camrea. With the men heading to Helena no one will go and save her. I can't go because I am no fighter. Would you please save her?"
"I am heading to White Run." Chrissy tells him.
"Please she is my sister, and they took her to Bleak Falls Barrow." Valnor says as he points to the ruins on the mountain.
"You got to be kidding." Chrissy says in disgust realizing it's the place that gave her the Wiggins.
"No! I can pay you if you bring the claw and her back. There is no telling what horrors they are doing to her."
"Fine I'll do it but let Lucus know where I am going and that I'll head to White run after I save your sister." Chrissy tells him. "But how the hell do I get up there?"
"Thank you. There is a path to the left just on the other side of the river." He says as he points to the path. "That will take you to the old watch tower. Be careful part of the bandits stay there as a look out."
"Do you possibly know how many bandits there are?"
"No, but I'm pretty sure that they are the same ones that broke into my shop and stole my claw."
"Was that the only thing of value you had in your shop?"
"No but it's strange that is the only thing they took."
"Is there anything special about it?"
"Other than being very old no. I must go back to my shop be safe and please come back quickly." He tells her as he heads back for town.
"Okay. What the hell did I just get myself into? Doesn't matter, I have to help or at least try. If that was Tommy, I sure would want someone to help." Chrissy mutters as she heads for the path to the left after she crosses the bridge. "So that means I don't play nice." Chrissy says as she pulls out her sword.
Road Bleak Falls Barrow
Heading up the path at a brisk pace she comes to her first bend in the path and is about to take it when a wolf jumps out at her. Chrissy is in no mood to fight, using her shield she bashes it back down the path she had come up. Chrissy stops for a few minutes, while watching the wolf roll down the hill until it hits the bottom with a painful whine. Once there it gets up, looks up at her then just limps away realizing it wasn't a good idea to take her on. Seeing it was fine and wasn't coming back Chrissy continues her pace until she sees the Watch tower far off in the distance. Movement puts her on immediate alert causing her to slow her pace while sticking close to the mountain wall she is next to. The closer she got the more people she was able to count.
"Damn there is three. There is no way I can take them all on at once. Maybe I can..." Chrissy says as she puts her sword away and takes up her new bow and arrows. Taking aim at the one just standing against a tree while watching the other talking to him and waits for the right moment. "Come on leave…" Chrissy mutters chattering teeth as the cold was starting to get to her.
After a few moments the other leaves while the one next to the tree just stands there. Chrissy almost feels guilty about how easy of a target he is but thinks about how many innocents he may have killed and lets the releases the arrow. The arrow flies true and impales the bandit directly through the throat embedding itself into the tree the bandit had been leaning against. He twitches for a few moments in desperation but eventually collapses in death even while the arrow holds him pinned to the tree. Chrissy holds her breath and waits to see if any of the others had seen what she had done. Luckily the arrow had been quiet and the aim perfect, none of them suspected a thing. Before notching a new arrow Chrissy blows on her fingers to warms them up then waits for her next target. After a few long tense minutes, she is given the chance as a female bandit comes out of the tower and starts to walk towards the one Chrissy had already killed. Chrissy lets the arrow fly. The aim is perfect but at the last moment the Bandit had seen her dead companion and ran ahead so the arrow flew past with not so much as a glancing blow. Chrissy curses under her breath and goes to take another shot but unfortunately, they know she's there now and she doesn't have a clear aim at either the female or the one in the tower. They on the other hand can aim at her and they let their arrows fly. Chrissy has no place to go except for rolling forward taking cover behind a large boulder to avoid being hit.
"Crap this means I have to go head-to-head!" Chrissy hisses as she puts back the bow and retrieves her shield from her backpack and pulls her sword from its sheath. "It's always harder to hit a moving target." Chrissy thinks while she darts out from cover when she sees an arrow hit. Pouring on the slayer speed she weaves back and forth while dodging for cover as she makes her way to them. The metallic smacking ding sound of arrows directly hitting her shield startles Chrissy.
"Come on they got to run out of arrows soon." Chrissy hisses as she barely manages to avoid an arrow that hits right in front of her. "Me and my big mouth!" Chrissy berates herself as the female bandit comes running at her with a war hatchet in each hand.
"Run away so I can shoot you in the back." The archer from the tower calls out.
"I am going to enjoy." The female bandit laughs as she attacks Chrissy.
"You don't want to do this." Chrissy hissed back while using her shield to block the blows from the hatchets.
Coming down with both hatchets the female bandit sneers. "Oh, but I do!"
"Shit!" Chrissy yells as the hatchets manage to break into her shield and get stuck.
"You don't stand a chance." The female taunts as she pushes down on the hatchets forcing their sharp blades even deeper through her shield.
Seeing her chance Chrissy uses her sword and slices across her opponents' legs. The bandit screams out in pain as the sword makes contact causing her to fall backwards onto her rear. "Who doesn't stand, now." Chrissy snidely remarks as she then takes her sword and shoves it through the bandit's chest killing her instantly.
Chrissy has no time for a breather as an arrow slice through her bicep. Luckily it was only a glancing hit, but it hurt like hell and served to piss Chrissy off even more. "BASTARD!" Chrissy yells as she rushes the tower while using her damaged shield as cover. Chrissy is moving so fast she doesn't realize when she crosses a frozen stone bridge until she tries to stop but slides through the open door and lands face first on the stone floor of the old run-down tower.
"That was swift." Chrissy berates while picking herself up and scans the area for her opponent.
"I know you are there, Bitch!" The bandit calls out from the next level. "You will pay for what you have done."
"Bring it Bitch!" Chriss tells him.
"Why don't you come and it, Bitch."
"Crap." Chrissy mutters as she realizes that the layout of this tower was similar in design to the last towers she was in and had to face bandits. She was not looking forward to heading up another ramp with no rails. Her only saving grace is there were no arrows coming at her as she did. Slowly making her way up the slippery incline of the wooden ramp Chrissy made sure not to look down but focused on where her target may be. He wasn't on the second floor which contained very bare necessities such as a few bedrolls, a stone fireplace, some barrels, a table with some chairs around it. Chrissy has to dodge next to the stone fireplace as an arrow comes down from above.
"You murder!" The bandit jeered back at her
"You're one to talk I'm not going around kidnapping innocent people, killing and stealing." Chrissy says as she hides just on the other side of the stone fireplace with her back towards it. Using her shield like a mirror she scans the room without being hit. Chrissy is able to determine from the direction of the last arrow that he is above her and off to the right. She uses the shield to confirm the location his location. Removing her knife, she waits patiently. He lets another arrow fly. As the arrow embeds itself into the wall next to Chrissy. In one fluid motion Chrissy steps out just enough to throw her knife at him then slips back against the stone wall before she can be hit with another arrow.
The knife sails threw the air with deadly accuracy as it pierced the bow he was drawing back, busting it in half. The breaking bow flies apart in different directions even as the knife embeds itself into the man's face. Waiting and listening Chrissy hears the man screams in pain as he falls back cracking his unprotected head on the crumbling wall behind him, killing him. Before leaving the room Chrissy looks inside the barrels for supplies. She finds several pieces of dried meat, a few apples, and small bags of dried herbs. She fits what she thinks she can into her pack then goes to leave. Chrissy stops at the door and decides it was best if she went and got her knife that was still in the guy up the stairs. Knowing that she may need it she fights her fear of heights by crawling up the old rickety wooden stairs step by step.
At the top she doesn't look down but focuses on checking the body. Chrissy cuts his pouch off and shoves it into her bandolier. Chrissy gags reflex acts up while she is ripping the knife from his face then takes what's left of his arrows. She happens to notice just behind him was an old wooden chest. Finding it locked she slips the lock picks from her bracers and proceeds to pick it. After two broken lock picks later, she opens the chest to find a few health potions, about 400 gold, a few gems, 5 lock picks and a book of archery. As Chrissy is opening the book it makes her hands tingle and then it disappears. Quickly shoving the items into her bag Chrissy crawls backwards down the stairs without looking. At the bottom she gives herself a moment to catch her breath.
A stinging sensation from her bicep grabs Chrissy's attention and she realizes it could possibly get infected. She decides at this point that it is a good time to try the healing effect she had learned. Closing her eyes, she focuses on the wound and thinks about how it should heal. At first nothing happens but then her hands start to glow, and the wound starts to seal. It only takes Chrissy a few minutes to heal the wound. Almost cutting herself on the still embedded hatchets Chrissy yanks them free from her shield. Tossing the hatchets on the floor, she debates on leaving the shield but decides to keep it.
"Okay now that's done, how the hell do I get down from here?" Chrissy questions looking out the door to leave while her fear comes rushing back. "Alright girl you can do this just focus on something else." Chrissy encourages herself. She then turns her back on the landscape and focuses on the wall of the building while painstakingly, slowly, sideways down the ramp. Chrissy is only about halfway down the ramp when she missteps and hits ice causing her to fall onto her side while sliding down the rest of the way. Chrissy manages to grab the edge of the door and pull herself up into the room before she falls off. "I swear if I ever meet the person that engineered this, I'm going to kill him slowly." Chrissy sneers as she gets up and heads back down the stone stairs.
After leaving the tower Chrissy checks both bandits. On the one still stuck to the tree, she got a full quiver of arrows, 100 gold coins and a few uncut gems. On the second bandit she finds 60 gold, more arrows and another necklace. Thinking she can't carry anything else she leaves them with their armor and weapons and heads up the path to the Barrow.
Pulling her cloak even tighter Chrissy realizes that the higher she climbs the more the temperature drops. Not even the snow coming down stops her as she marches through it at an even pace. The ancient ruins of Bleak Falls Barrow comes into view about an hour later. She takes a moment to observe the ancient ruins when she notices movement. Staying low Chrissy hugs the human size boulders she was walking close to and pulls out her bow and waits for a target. Her fingers were about to go numb when a bandit walked out onto an overhang of the structure and Chrissy lets loose the arrow. The arrow sails true threw the air hitting its target as the target was turning causing him to stumble and fall off the high overhang of the ruin to his death. Seeing him fall Chrissy ducks behind a boulder and waits to see if the others notice. They do just not how she thought they would.
"Crap Keatch fell off." Chrissy heard a bandit say.
"That's the second one this month." Another bandit snapped.
"I get his stuff."
"What?"
"It's only fair you got the last ones."
"Fine but I would go get his stuff now before it freezes on him."
"True. By the way I also get the stuff in the tent so don't even think about taking it." A bandit says as he walks down the stone stairs.
Chrissy takes a chance and sees him coming down all the while looking over his shoulder towards where the other bandit fell. She notches another arrow, takes and lets it fly. The arrow hits the bandit in the chest knocking him backwards against the stairs while killing him instantly. Unfortunately, his death was not noiseless causing the other bandit to run over to the stairs and see his fallen comrade.
"You will pay for that!" The huge green bandit roars as he rushes down the stairs not giving Chrissy enough time for a shot.
Chrissy drops the bow and pulls her sword just in time to block a blow from the orcs battle axe. Chrissy loses her footing and slides a little bit, but she is smart enough to continue rolling away from her aggressor as he swings down with his battle axe just barely missing her. Unfortunately, she loses her sword in the roll. The orc laughs at her loss of a weapon but that doesn't stop Chrissy as she grabs one of her arrows as he's about to come down with his axe on her head and shoves it into his knee. This action causes him to scream and fall to one knee. Chrissy kicks him in the groin as he is falling causing him both to be in more pain and anger. Chrissy barely manages to grab up her sword just as he gets up only to be greeted by it in a downward blow taking his head completely off.
Chrissy takes a few moments to check his body and discovers a pouch of about 60 gold pieces, a nice-looking knife but nothing more usable. Chrissy retrieves her bow then heads over to the one she shot off the edge. She was unable to reach him because his body had slid down the mountain. The sight of which makes Chrissy feel uneven, so she backs away to the stairs. There she checks the last bandit and finds 50 gold, more arrows, but finds nothing else she can use.
Chrissy easily climbs the stairs and discovers a flat area where the bandits had made a little camp consisting of 3 tents and a cookfire. After checking the tents Chrissy finds 100 gold in each of them but nothing else useful. Warming her hands over the fire Chrissy is glancing around, notices a set of large doors that go into the building. Once she's warm Chrissy heads over to the double doors with sword drawn and shield ready. Carefully opening the door, she slips in and closes them as quietly as possible.
Inside Bleak Falls Barrow
On stealthy feet she makes her way forward but stops as she hears two people arguing. Across the poorly lit room she makes out two figures standing by a cooking fire. Quietly Chrissy switches to her bow and notches an arrow. Taking careful aim from the shadows Chrissy waits for the other Bandit to look away. At the right moment Chrissy fires the arrow sending it through the darkness. Even before the arrow hit its mark in the right eye of the Bandit killing him, Chrissy switches back to her sword and shield while silently moving to a different location in the darkness.
"Whoever did this I am going to kill you?!" The Bandit calls out while grabbing his claymore then runs towards the darkness where Chrissy had been.
The Bandit takes a few swipes at the darkness but hits nothing. With her training from Master Splinter Chrissy easily sneaks up to the bandit, killing him by slicing his throat from behind. Chrissy lets his body fall to the floor while she scans the room and waits to see if there is anyone else. Turning on her travel lantern she shakes off the feeling of death that is coming from below.
Chrissy set to work checking the body on the floor in front of her has 50 gold, some gems but nothing else. Chrissy then heads for the next body but along the way finds more dead bandits and huge freaky rats. Chrissy checks the bandits but finds nothing figuring that the others must have taken their stuff she moves on to the first one she killed but only finds about 60 gold. She tries to retrieve her arrow, but it breaks. Seeing an average wooden chest not too far from the cooking fire she goes to it. This time she is able to pick the lock without breaking a pick. Inside she finds weapons, several furs and gold. The first weapon is a nicely weighted battle axe, but she leaves it. The second weapon is a short sword glass sword like hers but doesn't have a spell on it. Chrissy ties it to her pack as she figures that she could either use it as a backup piece or sell it. For a few short moments she considers taking the furs for a couple of reasons. First it was starting to get cold, secondly, they are easy to trade for gold. Unrolling her bed roll she lays the 2 large ones on it then rolls it back up leaving the smaller ones. The gold she places at the bottom of her backpack. As she is picking up her backpack there was something bugging her, and she just couldn't quite place it.
"What the hell? This can't be." Chrissy says while taking off and putting on her pack several times it finally dawns on her what it is. "This should be heavier." Taking it off one more time she looks inside and checks the supplies. They were all there and should have weighed a lot more than the pack felt. Emptying her backpack out completely onto a bedroll of one of the bandits Chrissy tests her theory. Chrissy picks up the bed roll with all of its contents and checks the weight.
"Damn how is that possible? Do I really care? Nope. It helps though." Pleasantly surprised Chrissy says when she realizes that there is a weight difference versus when they're in her backpack and when they're outside of her backpack. She comes to the conclusion that her backpack's weight does not change no matter what she puts in. After putting all of her stuff back in her backpack, she realizes that she might be able to fit the furs into her bag and she does. "Okay that is just weird, but I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth."
The roar of an empty stomach makes itself known at the smell of the stew cooking on the fire. Chrissy takes an empty bowl that was sitting on a flat stone the bandit seemed to have been using as a table and fills it with the stew. Not wanting to waste her lamp oil Chrissy puts out her travel lantern while using the light of the fire to eat by. Taking the next few minutes to let the stew in her bowl cool while the bowl warms her fingers, she observes her surroundings, yet her eyes always avoided the bandit she had killed. After finishing off three bowls Chrissy heads down some stairs she seen while eating.
Even with her slayer eyesight she had to turn on her travel lantern halfway down the stone stairs. The light revealed more dead bodies but only of rats. With each step the wigging feeling got worse. She passes by several web covered empty shelves. Chrissy wasn't sure how long she had been down in the darkness when she finally comes across another light source. She starts to run to it but stops as she sees a bandit in the room ahead of her who was about to push a lever. Quickly shutting off her light to hide, she readies her bow and is about to notch it when she watches him push the lever and a multitude of darts come from several different directions killing him instantly.
"Damn he looks worse than a porcupine." Chrissy remarks as she cautiously walks into the room to check the body and stops as he is too full of darts. "I don't know what those things are best not to touch them."
Chrissy proceeds to look around the room and finds that the only way forward was through the closed gate in front of the lever. "Well, that sucks. How the hell Am I going to get through that? Wait a minute, this looks like one of Tommy's video games. The pictures…." Chrissy continues as she walks over to sculpted design pictures on the wall above the gate. "I wonder..." Chrissy says seeing similar designs on the same floor as the lever. After investigating the pictures below, she finds that they were movable. "Oh yeah this is got to work." Chrissy says as she matches up the pictures on the main level to the ones above the gate. "Well here goes nothing." Chrissy says as she pushes the lever and ready to run if the darts fly. "Yes!" Chrissy yells as the gate opens then does a small dance at her little accomplishment.
Glancing in the room determines that because it was a lot smaller than the last her best weapon to use was her sword and shield. Inside the torch-lit room Chrissy finds a stone table with a few scrolls, a strange gem. Under the table she found a large, locked chest. Chrissy breaks 2 of her lock picks but manages to open it. She finds 300 gold, 6 new lock picks, a strange looking silky black metal helm and matching shield. Testing the shield, she really likes how much lighter it was than her current partially damaged shield. Not sensing any magic on it she gives in and puts the helm on. Chrissy is impressed by the fits the comb like design slides and tucks her hair behind her while small dragon head comes down between her eyes, without blocking her vision but does reflect some of the travel lantern's light. Leaving her shield she takes the other and heads down a spiral wooden staircase in the middle of the room. The only thing good about going down these wooden stairs was the fact that she could only see walls.
Unfortunately, she does hear the squeaking scratching noise coming up the stairs. Chrissy was thankful more now than ever that she had switched the Shields because this one was slightly larger and protected more of her lower body even though it was similar in dimension, as a large rat came jumping up it went to attack her but was greeted by the shield. The rat fell a little dazed and as it did Chrissy came down with the sword killing it. Chrissy barely had enough time to raise her sword when another rat came jumping up at her. Bashing, blocking with the shield and killing with the sword went on for about five more rats until she reaches the bottom. At the bottom she discovers a room that has several shelves with linen wrappings, some strange looking tools and a large ornate stone table.
"This place looks similar to the embalming room I went with my class to at the New York Natural History Museum." Chrissy remarks as she looks at one of the tools. While examining another tool she hears someone in the distance crying for help. Tossing down the tool she was looking at she takes off at a run towards the voice.
"Anyone out there? Come on I hear someone. Amir is that you? Come cut me down!" A male voice calls out. "Come cut me down before it comes back."
"It?" Chrissy mouths not liking the sound of it only to have to stop in her run as she comes to a dead end covered in cobwebs that looked all too familiar. "You got to be kidding. I am really hating spiders."
"I know someone is there. Hurry and cut me down!" The voice pleads.
Knowing she cannot turn down someone in jeopardy Chrissy starts hacking away at the spider webs. Her sword easily slices and dices through the thick webs.
"Oh no it's coming back! Help!" The man screams.
She is almost through when she notices a spider larger than the last one she faced repelling down from the ceiling, towards a person at the other end of the room she was trying to hack into. Realizing the creature had not seen her, Chrissy puts her sword away and pulls out her bow and 3 arrows. Holding two arrows with her hand that held the bow she notches the last arrow. Smirking Chrissy takes aim directly at the spider's backside. She can't help but let out a laugh when she lets the arrow fly, and it hits its target right up the creature's backside. The creature screams in anger and pain.! It turns to where Chrissy is, rushing at her. Chrissy has enough time with the way she placed the arrows to take aim and fire the next two arrows. Each hitting its target but unfortunately the exoskeleton was too strong and one of them bounced off. Chrissy backs up and grabs three more arrows and kept shooting at the creature through the hole she had made. The spider is too large to make it through the hole but now is close enough for Chrissy to nail in the eyes, sending the creature into a frenzy trying to get at her. Quickly putting back her bow Chrissy grabs her sword and aims for the creature's head making sure to keep her new shield between her and the creature's fangs and any venom it may spit at her.
Using the same technique she employed on the rats from earlier, Chrissy kept thrusting her sword down into the spider's head while bashing it in the face with her shield. The fighting was intense, and Chrissy wasn't sure if she was gaining any headway until the creature finally collapses to the floor. She gave off a sigh of relief while still watching the area to see if there were any other spiders. After a few long-drawn-out moments the only movement Chrissy saw was struggling from the guy who was almost completely cocooned attached to the wall, she calls out to him. "Hey, mister do you know if there's anymore?"
"No, it was the only one I saw." He calls back.
Taking him at his word Chrissy starts climbing over the dead spider while thinking. "Genny may need more spider venom for her supplies." She steps back down off the spider, reaches into her bandolier and takes out a small empty bluish green glass bottle and let's some of the venom drip into it until it was full. Once it is full, she wraps it up in some of the webbing that was on the wall and places it into a side pouch on her backpack. She than tries to retrieve her arrows out of the spider but they were useless.
"Hey what are you doing? What's taking so long!? Hurry up!" The man demeaning orders which only serves to piss Chrissy off.
Making a split-second decision Chrissy instead of using violence she decides to irritate the man, so she coolly walks around the room examining it. She discovers several large egg sacs and opens them up, to find smaller egg sacks. She takes a few wraps them up in the same webbing on the walls and places them next to the bottle of venom she had just got. When she finishes she coldly walks over to him, looks up and asks with a sinister voice "Are you the one who took Camrea?"
"What? Huh. Just cut me down." He dumbly answers back.
"OK let me verify just exactly who you are. Did you or did you not steal a golden claw from the general merchant in river run?"
"Yes, and I know how it works if you cut me down, I'll show you."
"So that means you also came back and kidnapped Camrea the owner's sister."
"No. What why would I do that?
"Well first you took the golden claw and then you come back for his sister and now you're telling me you know how to work this golden claw. Maybe she had the information you needed. Where is she?"
"I didn't take her I admitted to taking the claw, but I didn't take her. He lied to you so you would come after the claw."
"Why do you think he would lie to me about it?"
"Because I bet you are a do-gooder and since you ask about the sister first you didn't come because of the money. Now just cut me down."
There was something about how he admitted to taking the claw but not the girl that rang true with Chrissy, but she still needed to be sure. "If I cut you down you will give me the golden claw and Camrea. And you won't try anything. If you do, I'll kill you. Deal?"
"Whatever just cut me down now."
The "Whatever" remark tips Chrissy into knowing that he is going to try something as soon as he can. So, while cutting him down she made sure to keep equal footing. His feet hadn't even hit the ground when he tried to hit Chrissy in the face but she turned just in time, so his fist connected with her new helm.
"Fucking bitch that hurt." He sneered while trying to tackle her only to meet the pointy end of her sword the hard way.
"And you are a dead dumb ass for not believing me." Chrissy responds as she withdrew her sword from his chest. "Now where is Camrea?"
"I didn't take her you came here for nothing." He laughs through a bloody mouth as he slowly drowns on his own blood.
Chrissy checks his corpse and hits pay dirt. She finds a golden claw, Dumbass's journal and 150 gold. Using the lanterns light Chrissy reads his journal.
"Okay so he told the truth that about stealing the claw….hmm… the answers to power are in the palm of your hand…. Aahhh so if this map is right, I am not too far away from this thing of power he wanted…. Maybe Camrea is there.." Chrissy mutters while reading the journal than puts it in her backpack and remarks. "But there is nothing about him kidnapping her…. I have to be sure. Well, it looks like I get to go deeper into the dark that is really giving me the Wiggins."
After putting her backpack on Chrissy hacks her way threw the rest of the webbing to find she is at the top of a large stone stairway with stone shelves that were large enough for a body. As Chrissy slowly makes her way down the stairs, she sees that some of the shelves did have decaying corpses. The wiggins feels makes her want to hurl so bad she stops halfway down the stairs. It was a good thing she had stopped as she sees two rats run into view as they are being chased by a corpse, wearing slightly more clothing on than the others still on the shelves, wielding an old claymore. Thinking quickly Chrissy presses herself against the wall area next to an empty shelf, while the rats and the walking corpse fight. A few solid slices by the corpse the fight is over with the corpse winning. After wards the corpse patrols the small area the floor it's on.
Chrissy observes the W.C. for a few minutes until it goes to one of the empty shelves and lays down. She quietly wonders how many there are of those things but suddenly she can tell from her wiggin feels that there are three in the immediate area. she can also tell by those same feelings that the one she had been watching is the closest and that there are two around the corner. As carefully as she can she places the sword back into its scabbard then quietly retrieves her bow and 3 arrows. Using the same technique, she had used on the spider she holds two of the arrows with her bow hand while notching the third. Taking aim at the one she had been observing she fires. After firing she immediately notches the next arrow. The aim is true and so is the mark releasing the creature from its bound form so that it may go to wherever it's soul belongs. Chrissy can tell this as when the corpse collapses and her wiggin feeling lessons. Thankfully with this instant kill didn't awaken the other two that were close by.
On her way down the stairs she switching from side to side to observing the corpses on the other side to make sure they didn't rise. She almost was at the bottom sees another the corpse partially dressed laying on a shelf. She knows from the pit of her stomach that that's another one of The Walking corpses. Taking aim, she lets her arrow fly, hitting the mark and kills it instantly. Even while the arrow is sailing Chrissy has notched the third arrow.
After reaching the first one she killed she checks it only to find the sword he had used to kill the rats. Chrissy side steps over to the second one and goes to check it but suddenly stops as she feels the third walking corpse across the room. In one fluid movement Chrissy turns around and without even aiming she lets the arrow fly. The arrow sailed threw the air but fails to hit is mark. The corpse raises and rushes towards Chrissy only to be slapped back dead by a spiked steal swinging wall when it steps on a weight sensitive metal plate.
"Okay this is way too much like one of Tommy's video games." Chrissy remarks with a raised eyebrow at what had just happen. She checks the second one she had killed to find two old war hatches. Chrissy moves on to the third making sure to avoid the metal plate on the floor.
