Hey Everyone, Miles here to say, like every fanfic, I don't own any of the media that I use or reference. I'm just telling a story and that's all there is to it.

ll

ll

Episode 5: ...The End of Peace.

ll

ll

ll

Everyone watched the news later that day, it made it look like a freak accident. That Sailor Moon "accidentally" killed an injured civilian that looked like a hostile threat. There was no mention of undead or infected. Just that there was one dead in an "accident'.

ll

ll

It seemed that the military had taken over the news, because the only witnesses interviewed were disguised soldiers pretending to be local civilians, saying that they "never liked the Sailor Guardians" because "they're people dressed like idols who have super powers."

ll

ll

But the military wasn't fooling anyone. The entire district regarded the Sailor Guardians as heroes for their community and the world. On some radio stations, at certain times of the day, there would be people speaking highly of the Sailor Guardians and condemning the military.

ll

The next day, Usagi's transceiver was buzzing constantly from Haruka and Michiru. After school, in the privacy of her room, she answered their calls.

ll

(Usagi) Hey guys, sorry I didn't-

ll

ll

(Haruka) USAGI, what the hell happened!? Why is the news calling you a murderer? Everyone I talk to is talking about the news and about YOU!

ll

ll

(Michiru) Haruka, cool off for a second! You're too emotional right now!

ll

(Haruka) Okay, fine! I'll be right back.

ll

After hearing a door slam from the transceiver, Michiru tried her best to stay calm. Her tone gave that away though as it was a deadly serious tone that couldn't hide her emotions.

ll

(Michiru) Usagi. What. Happened.

ll

(Usagi) It's a long story that you both need to hear.

ll

(Michiru) I see.

ll

A minute later, Haruka came back, this time, quieter, but still looking just as frustrated.

ll

(Usagi) Do you two remember when we went to the hospital, what we saw there?

ll

(Haruka) We do.

ll

(Usagi) One of those patients was Mamoru's friend, Akari...

ll

Usagi was trying to keep it together, but all of the blurry memories of that afternoon came rushing back like a tidal wave.

ll

Hearing the sickening sound as the Moon Tiara sliced through the skull.

ll

The sound of Mamoru calling her a murderer and the look in his eyes of pure rage, malice and mourning.

ll

Haruka and Michiru saw the tears form and felt bad for the girl.

ll

(Usagi) We were in the park, studying. Then we hear a scream for help and we went.

ll

(Usagi) And there he was. A broken version of himself... He tried to talk to us, but he couldn't say more than a few words after he had decayed for so long. He was also crawling because he had jumped out of his window and broke both of his legs. We have no idea how he made it so far from the hospital, but we think he just crawled using pure instinct. After that, he started to crawl towards me and I...I...

ll

Usagi was breaking down, but she kept going regardless. Through tears, she continued her story.

ll

(Usagi) I panicked! I hadn't realized what happened until I instinctively put the tiara back on my head. Makoto had to carry me away because I just froze... I didn't... I didn't know what to DO! I had just taken the life of a living being!

ll

Haruka and Michiru believed her. They felt it in their hearts that Usagi was telling the truth because she was always the one to spare others, unless they threatened peace on Earth. It was something that took them a while to learn.

ll

(Haruka) I don't know if anyone else has told you this yet, but I thought we'd tell you. It's not your fault. He was already dead to begin with, you were doing him justice by not letting him infect others.

ll

(Michiru) My thoughts exactly. You also showed him mercy by killing him before he could kill innocent people.

ll

Usagi seemed to calm down a little.

ll

(Usagi) Thanks for believing me you guys. Just letting you know that, unless something major happens, me and the rest of the Sailor Guardians are going to hang back for a while until things calm down. They do want to arrest Sailor Moon for murder.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Yeah, we get it. Stay safe out there Bun Head.

ll

ll

(Usagi) Seriously!?

ll

The three chuckled for a second.

ll

(Michiru) If you guys need any help at all, don't be afraid to call us.

ll

(Haruka) Yeah, we'll be there in a flash!

ll

(Usagi) Thanks guys, talk soon.

ll

The call ended.

ll

Usagi sighed at the name calling, but felt better overall.

ll

So far, only the other Sailor Guardians had reassured her over and over again that it wasn't her fault.

ll

This was something she was grateful for. But they were there, of course they would know it wasn't her fault. But hearing it from people who weren't even there made her feel a little better about the situation.

ll

That night she asked her parents about it after Shingo had gone to bed and they were watching the late night news.

ll

Ikuko and Kenji were sitting in the living room like they always had.

ll

(Usagi) Mom? Dad? Can I ask you guys about something that happened a few days ago?

ll

(Ikuko) You mean that accident with Sailor Moon and that boy from the hospital?

ll

(Kenji) I'm surprised Usagi. Usually, I wouldn't pin you for the type of person who wants to talk about these things, but then again, you have changed since school started. For the better even.

ll

(Kenji) So, whats up?

ll

(Usagi) I want to know what you guys think about the whole situation. Do you guys think that it was an accident or a murder?

ll

Both hand stern looks on their faces as they thought about their answers. The first one to respond was Ikuko.

ll

(Ikuko) I don't know about you two, but I believe it was definitely an accident. You have to remember, these girls are the police or military. They deal with things like invaders from outer space and protect the world from them. They do not attack unless they are attacked. I heard on the radio that the boy was about to attack a woman before she and the other Sailor Guardians arrived. But when they arrived, the boy started becoming hostile towards Sailor Moon. Now if they hadn't showed up, that boy would've hurt somebody. Even with that in mind. If it was a murder, why were there reports on the radio that said that the boy didn't look normal, that he looked like a zombie? Also, why did the military try so hard to cover it up as a murder and not even try to figure out if it was murder?

ll

(Ikuko) In the end though, I say the girl's innocent and she did nothing but defend herself in one of the only ways she knew how.

ll

After hearing her explanation, she felt joy, but she held her breath as her father said his answer.

ll

(Kenji) Unfortunately murder just isn't as simple as that. Think about it, let's say for the moment that she didn't premeditate the boys murder and it was completely unintentional. That's still murder of the third degree. I understand that the people are in her favor, but unless we know everything that happened at that moment, we just can't be sure. I'm on the fence really. I support the girls for protecting us, but we cannot allow people like that to just do things like this and skip judgement entirely and walk free because they are our heroines. If we don't hold them accountable for their crimes, they may just do whatever they want, thinking that they are above the law.

ll

This was the same argument that the military imposed. Except that they believed that Sailor Moon was a ruthless killer.

ll

But Usagi was a little nervous when they asked her in return.

ll

(Kenji) What do you think Usagi?

ll

(Ikuko) Yeah, we want to hear what you think, because to us, you represent yourself, your friends and all the other people you go to school with.

ll

She was freaking out internally, but was trying to keep a cool exterior.

ll

(Usagi) Oh! Uh.. Um... Let me think about it for a moment.

ll

Usagi sat in the living room with her parents, thinking of what to tell them.

ll

ll

ll

(Usagi) (Uh oh. What do I do? I can't just say I think shes innocent and leave! They want details! I also can't just tell them that I'm Sailor Moon! Or could I? Wait NO, why would I put them through that? Okay, lets just ad lib it and hopefully it goes well.)

ll

ll

(Usagi) I agree with mom, I think she's innocent. This is because, why would she go out of her way to just kill someone after everything she has done to protect this community and the world? I believe that it was an accident and that there is information that's missing from the whole story, so there's no real way to say flat out that she's guilty...

ll

ll

She trailed off on her last sentence because her parents were just staring at her, completely entranced by her ad lib argument.

ll

(Usagi) Is.. something wrong?

ll

(Kenji) Well, we just expected you to just say that she's either guilty or innocent and that's it, but you have a very interesting view.

ll

Usagi was satisfied, but she wanted one more thing.

ll

(Usagi) I have an interesting question for all of us to answer though. What would you ask Sailor Moon if she were here right now?

ll

(Usagi) I'll start. I would ask her how she is doing, because taking a person's like can't be easy, no matter how you do it.

ll

(Ikuko) Interesting. I would ask her, what really happened at that moment, because I would want her testimony as to what happened because I trust her.

ll

(Kenji) Nice! I would ask her, What's her real identity.

ll

His answer made Usagi a little nervous. Because here she was, Sailor Moon, and her Dad was asking her to her face, not knowing that he was talking to the Sailor Moon!

ll

(Ikuko) Why would you ask her that? Would you tell everyone who she was?

ll

(Kenji) Of course not! I would be the only person on the planet that knew who she was, that sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

ll

(Ikuko) Okay you child.

ll

ll

ll

Later on, when her parents went to bed, she stayed up for a bit thinking about their questions. Thinking about how she would answer them, except for Kenji's, she would never reveal her identity to anyone, not even her family. She could just imagine Shingo bragging at school about how his sister was Sailor Moon. Ugh, no thanks!

ll

She later fell asleep, letting everything go for now until tomorrow.

ll

ll

She was at lunch with the other girls when the PA system activated.

ll

ll

(Teacher) Good afternoon students and faculty, can everyone please gather in the School auditorium.

ll

(Ami) Now what?

ll

(Makoto) Well, if it isn't one thing, it's another.

ll

(Minako) UGHHHH! Let's just get this over with, I just want to go home right now.

ll

When the girls arrived in the auditorium, they saw that a teacher was on the stage along with four armored soldiers.

ll

After everyone arrived, one of the soldiers went up to the microphone.

ll

(Soldier) Afternoon everyone. I am here to inform you, that for about two weeks, everyone will have to learn from home.

ll

Students and teachers alike were whispering to each other.

ll

(Soldier) Settle down everyone. We are arranging how the school will send students the work they need for class. Are there any questions?

ll

A student raised his hand.

ll

(Soldier) Yes, you.

ll

(Student) Why are we being sent home again.

ll

(Soldier) Well there are two reasons. The first reason is because we found a small animal that had been infected with the virus near the school, so we have to sanitize the school in order to make it safe again. The other is because there is going to be another stay at home order going out due to a recent protest that became a deadly riot. Unfortunately, I cannot share the details of the incident due to them being classified information.

ll

Minako whispered to Usagi.

ll

(Minako) I know I said I wanted to go home, but this wasn't how I pictured it happening.

ll

After the announcement, students were sent home immediately. This was the case for every non-essential worker. Everyone that wasn't absolutely essential to the district was sent home after their shifts ended.

ll

ll

Later that night, Usagi listened to one of the information radio stations from her room. Apparently, there were reports saying that there were dead animals all around the Juban district that were being found dead or dying with mushrooms growing out of them. When people reported these incidents, they called the police, which was taken over by the military. This was so that the military could take the dead animal back to the hospital to burn the corpse. They would also pay the person who called in the report a small sum of money to keep them quiet. The animals that were found, they weren't limited to things like mice, rats, large bugs, dogs or cats. The military would also find dead pigeons and owls lying on the ground. Each sighting was covered up, but people started to distrust the military and ask each other that was happening. But since they didn't want to anger armed military personnel, everyone felt that it was a better idea to stay quiet for now.

ll

ll

A week after the stay at home order was established, the late night radio told everyone what the riot that the military talked about really was. It was one man.

ll

ll

It began as a peaceful protest. Personnel showed up with guns and armor, but they didn't attack the protesters as long as they were peaceful. But the peace was broken by a man who ate an entire handful of the mushrooms that the military was finding on dead animals. He also wasn't wearing his gas mask, but it was filled up with the mushrooms as well. The man tried to throw the mushrooms on the personnel, but he was tased, shot and killed before he could break through the riot shields that the armed personnel was wearing. But unfortunately, since they didn't know how it spread, they had to spend two hours decontaminating themselves and their gear.

ll

ll

ll

Usagi went home thinking that maybe Rei would let her relax at home for at least a couple days, but the girl had other plans.

ll

Getting up, Usagi tried to shut off her alarm, but then she realized it was her transceiver buzzing. It was Rei calling her.

ll

ll

(Usagi) Morning Rei, what's up?

ll

ll

(Rei) Morning Usagi, have you started studying yet?

ll

(Usagi) I mean, no, not yet...

ll

She looked at the clock, it read 4:00 A.M. in large red analog numbers.

ll

It was crazy, Rei sounded like she was fully awake and full of energy.

ll

(Rei) Hey, are you still there?

ll

(Usagi) Rei, do you even know what time it is?

ll

(Rei) No.. Not really. Why?

ll

Everyone was confused by why Rei would just call people in the middle of the night like this. The problem though was that when they asked her, she wouldn't answer or she would change the subject. It would later be learned that Rei would call one of their friends at random times at night to see what they were doing, with Usagi though, she only asked if she was studying. She did it to make sure her friends were okay to calm herself. With everything going on, she was afraid that if she fell asleep at the wrong time, infected patients would get into her home and kill her.

ll

(Usagi) Rei, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here you know.

ll

Rei calmed down, seemingly understanding what was wrong but not wanting to say it out loud.

ll

(Rei) Yeah... Yeah, I know I can. Thanks for picking up anyway

ll

The call ended and Usagi went back to sleep.

ll

ll

Again though, she was awoken again by a buzzing noise. She looked to see that her phone was ringing. She answered half asleep. Again she looked at the clock, it was 6:40 A.M. now.

ll

ll

(Usagi) Hello?

ll

(Mamoru) Hello? Usako?

ll

ll

Immediately, she hung up the phone. She still wasn't ready to talk to someone who had accused her of murder and even tried to kill her.

ll

Back when Mamoru had visions of Usagi dying if they stayed together, sure it made sense for him to avoid her and hurt her feelings. But this time, he went too far. Sure she would get mad at some of the things he did to her, but this... This was the breaking point for her. He was ready to kill her right then and there, no way was she just letting that get swept under the rug.

ll

She decided that instead of going to bed again, she would just stay awake in case another person called her again.

ll

ll

Day by day for a month, this was completely normal. Usagi and Shingo would do homework in their rooms, Kenji would get permission to go to work since he was essential and Ikuko would take care of the house since her job was non-essential for the time being.

ll

Every couple of days, you would hear about another protest or riot going on and people getting arrested or killed in the process. You would also hear about the occasional animals or even people with this mushroom sticking out of them in some places. But before anyone could investigate, there would be entire families that suddenly passed away from some odd event. In some cases, the house would burn down with the family inside, the house would have a poisonous gas leak or something similar. People began to distrust each other because some supported the military and others were against them.

ll

ll

This went on for an entire month before everything came undone.

ll

ll

ll

It was a weekday and Usagi was doing her homework for the day which she dreaded because it was her worst subject, Pre-calculus. In the middle of finally figuring out the problem, her transceiver started to buzz.

ll

She was annoyed, but answered. It was Minako and Makoto.

ll

(Usagi) Hey you two what's up, I'm doing pre-calc right now, what's up?

ll

Something was wrong though, she sensed it immediately. She could see that Minako and Makoto were panting as if they were out of breath and their faces spelled fear.

ll

(Makoto) Usagi, get you family to the Shrine NOW!

ll

(Minako) Yeah, Makoto's are going to help you get your family to the Shrine.

ll

(Usagi) Help? What do you mean? What's going on!?

ll

(Minako) They're everywhere Usagi! Some of the patients got out! There's not a lot of them, but unlike Akari, some of them are mobile. Now transform so we can get your family.

ll

(Usagi) Got it!

ll

ll

Before she transformed she forced Shingo and Ikuko into the common room for transport.

ll

(Ikuko) Usagi, what's going on?

ll

ll

Right in front of them, Usagi became Sailor Moon.

ll

ll

Both were speechless. But there was no time since Minako (Sailor Venus) and Makoto (Sailor Jupiter) had arrived.

ll

ll

(Usagi) Go with them, they're gonna take you somewhere safe.

ll

(Ikuko) But what about you!?

ll

(Usagi) I'm going to get dad from his job.

ll

ll

Her mother, brother and even her friends looked at her with worry. She was going to be alone with no one to back her up if she gets into trouble.

ll

Understanding this, Usagi gave her best smile and told them.

ll

(Usagi) Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I promise, I'll come back in one piece!

ll

Before anyone left though, Minako took Usagi to the side.

ll

(Minako) Sailor Moon. Something's different about our powers.

ll

(Usagi) What do you mean?

ll

(Minako) Just watch.

ll

Minako took out her transforming pen and transformed it and it became a... GUN!?

ll

(Usagi) What the fuck!?

ll

(Minako) I know. But this has been happening to everyone. For me it became a shotgun. For Ami, it became a pair of pistols. For Rei, it became a semiautomatic rifle. For Makoto, it transformed into a machine gun.

ll

(Minako) So wherever you're going, you're gonna need yours, so we should see what it is, just in case. Usagi then summoned her Sword of Sealing to see what would happen, and sure enough, it too became a gun.

ll

(Usagi) How is this even possible!? We've had our powers for so long, why are they changing all of a sudden?

ll

(Minako) I don't know. But what I do know is that these... are effective against those things out there.

ll

(Usagi) What...? No...nonono I can't do that again, those are people out there.

ll

Minako shook the poor girl.

ll

(Minako) USAGI! Wake UP! This isn't like that time, he had just turned and nobody understood at the time. But now, everyone is panicking and all hell is breaking out of the hospital. So use this to get your father, or don't.

ll

Minako knew it was harsh, even for someone like her, but she felt that this was needed to get Usagi, Sailor Moon, prepared for what was to come. Hopefully it worked...

ll

ll

(Usagi) I see... You guys head to the Shrine. I'm gonna be there a little later.

ll

(Minako) We'll be waiting.

ll

Makoto and Minako, weapons drawn, rushed out of the house towards the Shrine and Usagi rushed out with her golden pistol in the direction of her father.

ll

(Makoto) (Be safe out there Usagi.)

ll
(Minako) (You better come back safe dammit.)

ll
