Ch 89: Make a Park

Izuku stood on a small hill that overlooked an island that was currently under heavy construction and terraforming. This island was not a naturally occurring one in the ocean of the Atlantic but instead another man-made one. This new island was going to be the home base of the new Triassic Park. Construction was able to start almost immediately after the island had been created, and Izuku was looking over in pride at everything going on. It was nice to see both humans and machines working together in order to make something amazing and it was also nice to be continuing to use the services of Uraraka Construction Co. Before he could continue to marvel at his creation. He got a call on his phone that he picked up and heard the voice of Dr. Hammond's on the other end.

"Doctor Midoriya. How is the island coming along?", the old man cheerfully asked on the other end of the line.

Izuku smiled and informed him, "The modified Island Bloom has reached its epoch, reaching full size and the construction and terraforming crew are hard at work as we speak."

The old man gave a jovial chuckle and said back, "Excellent! Once you have a Warp Pad made I will begin to send over the material with your robots."

"Good to hear Doctor Hammond. I'll check on the progress of the dinosaurs.", Izuku told him before hanging up and dialing a new number. As it rang he looked over to see a warp pad quickly being installed and once it was answered Izuku asked, "Professor Genus, how are the dinosaurs coming along?"

"Perfectly! I already have 37 babies from different spices at the ready with another 28 on the way. All from different parts of history.", He answered back happily as the sound of baby dinosaur sounds came in the background. "By the way, we showed some of our investors the dinosaurs and you wouldn't believe the reactions and comments I got.", he told him with an irritated tone and an eye roll that could be felt through the phone signal.

Izuku signs inwardly and says, "Lemme guess. They were surprised to see something that didn't have its skin pulled over its skeleton, something with lips, feathers, and bigger than what they were?"

He could hear Genus shaking his head in agreement as he exclaimed, "Exactly! Bigger, louder, more teeth! Like a lion with a roar as loud as it can when trying to sneak up on prey that's bigger, stronger, and faster than they are. They said they weren't "cool" enough. They don't want feathers on an aquatic dinosaur and I want hair on a naked mole rat, but we all can't make nature do our bidding, now can we? Who do they think they are, God?! That's just how they look.", Genus paused for a moment before admitting in a small tone, "Now that I say it out loud, we kinda can."

"I understand your frustration. But that's what this park is for. Entertainment and education.", Izuku tried to assure him.

Genus gave a loud groan before saying, "For big-time investors, you'd think they'd have a bit more of the last thing.", with that they hung up as the morph pad was activated and several dozen crews with enormous amounts of building material came through.

Sometime later as land was being leveled out for buildings, Izuku got another call on his phone. Going to a quieter spot he answered it and heard Josie on the other end say, "Doctor Midoriya. You just got a call from the American Government."

Izuku was surprised by this news and stated back, "Kinda surprised no other countries have contacted us by now. What do they want? A chance to shove more prisoners on Pacifica like Russia tried to do with that missile threat?"

Josie shook her head on the other end and answered, "No sir. They want to buy the technology and techniques for making dinosaurs."

Izuku sighs in exasperation at this and grips, "No doubt genetically modified dinosaurs used for war is the goal. Tell them no, and if they ask again, tell them we'll leak why Pearl Harbor was a success during World War 2."

"Yes sir.", Josie replied before hanging up.

One Month Later

Izuku walked down one of the finished roads and admired the hard work done in such a short time. The park was already at 80% completion, it was almost hard to believe this place was little more than a stretch of Ocean not long ago, and now was a hustling and bustling theme park already chock-full of dinosaurs. He was proud to see it come to fruition much like the facilities and all the changes and discoveries he's made.

While he was lost in his mind, he saw a familiar face walking and calling out to him. It was Hammond and he said to him, once he got close enough, "Doctor Midoriya! It is so good to see you face to face."

"Doctor Hammond. Likewise.", Izuku greeted back with a bow.

Hammond slung his arm around the teen's shoulder as the two of them looked over the park where the old man told him, "Isn't it beautiful? And to think this was just another stretch of open ocean in the Atlantic."

Izuku smiled lightly at the sight and replied in agreement, "It is quite something. I think we should both feel proud of what we've done here. In just a few more weeks, the park will be open to the public."

"And I truly couldn't have done it without your amazing support, science, and ancient technology.", Hammond thanked him while slapping his back. The two of them started to walk together and the old man prompted, "So tell me. What's your favorite exhibit to be shown?"

"It's two things. The aviary and the…", Izuku trailed off with his cheeks dusting red with embarrassment.

"T-rex?", Hammond guessed as Izuku looked away to hide his grinning face. "Still a child at heart I see.", Hammond says with a chuckle.

"Technically I am still a child.", Izuku told him, making Hammond laugh even harder.

"Then let us both be children for a moment.", he said as he motioned for them to go towards the T-Rex exhibit.

A Few Weeks Later

Izuku stood before a large crowd of reporters in front of the facility building where a large floating screen stood behind him. Clearing his throat he said into the mic as pictures flashed around him, "Ladies and Gentlemen of the press. It is with great honor that I come to you to display what is perhaps one of history's greatest achievements. But NIP can't take full credit for this. This project, both funded and promoted, has been the work of the amazing Doctor Thomas Hammond, who I will allow to present it to you all."

People clapped as the old man carefully made his way up the stage and took the mic from Izuku. Cameras flashed as the man took off his hat and set his cane beside the podium. He coughed into the mic and then said to the crowd, "Thank you Doctor Midoriya, staff of NIP, people of the press. For nearly my entire life, I have had one single dream. A dream I'm sure many of you had in your first dinosaur movie, book, or theoretical documentary. Bring long-extinct giants to our modern ear. And through many years I have finally made that dream a reality!", he motions to the floating board behind him where a sequence of pictures came up showing the entryway to the park, as he said, "Ladies and gentlemen I give you the world's first live Dinosaur theme park, Triassic Park!", more pictures flashed on the screen and Hammond gave a brief description behind each one, "Come and view the rolling mountains, run through the long fields, swim in the lagoon, try out several restaurants and rides. And most of all, come see real-life dinosaurs!", as he says all this, Izuku sneakily comes back onto the stage and from behind, places a baby T-Rex in his hand, which the old man holds out in front of him as he says, "As of now, we have 50 different species of dinosaur and other extinct creatures from all over earth's history with more on the way. Only at Triassic Park."

With that, the crowd went crazy with pictures and questions as the windy baby began to cry and screech from the bright light and loud sounds.
