Chapter:4 Two Pairs

The bright green foliage of the Emerald Forest can be seen when a black bird is flying slowly and magnificently, right up to the moment it gives a final shriek and Ruby crashes through it in a burst of feathers as she plummets downward.

"Birdie, no!"

Ruby fires off a few rounds from her weapon to slow her down, then turns theweaponinto its scythe form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace.

Weiss, armed with her own weapon, summons a white snowflake circle under her and leaps off of it to the forest below.

A young man descends, with an eccentric girl briefly shown as she was going too fast, and spins in the air, eventually using his weapon's blades to spiral around the trunk of a large tree and hit the ground, brushing off his clothes before looking up to see...

"Woo-hoo! Yeah! Alley-oop!" Yang, soaring right over the treetops, is using her gauntlets and its fiery force to push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashes through the leaves of a tree and leaps off two trunks to tumble to the ground before running off. "Nailed it!"

Pyrrha, her weapon in sword form and armed with a shield, crashes through several trees and rolls on a branch, immediately shifting her blade into a rifle and looking through the scope at Jaune as he continues to scream and fall helplessly. Pyrrha coolly transforms her weapon again to its spear form, takes a moment to evaluate her throw, and rockets the javelin deep into the forest until a "THUNK!" is heard.

"Thank you!" Jaune called out in appreciation.

"I'm sorry!" Pyrrha called out to him with a wave.

In the air, Green soars through the air despite the giant weight on her back before deploying the shield's glider form as she slowly descends to the ground.

"Now it's just smooth sailing," Green said till a bird crashed to her face and she screams. "Aaahhhhhhh!!!"

Blue is currently falling in the air till he saw a tree up ahead, he quickly drew his weapon and quickly stabbed the trunk of the tree as he then held himself in place to look above the canopy.

Yellow meanwhile is nearing the canopy of the forest and quickly used her fishing rod to grab one of the branches and swung to land on another one.

Red is currently running through the forest as he look around for either Blue or Pyrrha.

"Where are you guys," Red mumbled tillhe heard a rustle from somewhere. He began to look around till he saw a bush rustling. He raised his fists so he could prepare for the worst.

He held his breath as he waited for the creature to come out. Then something jump out of the bushes as Red was about to fire to see that it was a...

A squirrel?

Red let out his breathe as he looked around till he saw a familiar straw hat in the distance.

"Hey you! Straw hat kid!" Red called out to her, he doesn't know that, and waved.

Yellow let out a squeak as she looks around and saw Red looking at her and made her sigh in relief. She has a partner now, she doesn't have to worry that much anymore.

Yellow then approached Red with her fishing rod on her shshoulder.

"So we're partners now," Yellow said to him.

"I guess we do," Red said as he offered his hand as Yellow gladly accepted it and let go when it was enough. "So where do you think the relics are uh..."

"Amarillo, Amarillo Caballero, but my friends call me Yellow," Yellow introduced as she began to look in the sky and looked towards to the sky then to her right. She smiled and pointed to that direction. "And the relic is just straight over there."

"How do you know?" Red asked as Yellow just shrug from the question.

"If you wander around in your spare time, you get some skills if ever get lost."

"Sweet. Well let's go dude," Red said as he walk to their designated destination.

"Yeah let's–" Yellow stop talking when she thought back to what Red said and blushed in embarrassment. "D-Dude!"

She look at her body and really began to question how she really look.

Somewhere else, Blue is walking through the Emerald Forest. His eyes ever wander around as if he expects something. When he heard a rustle nearby, he didn't stop moving and just continued forward without a care.

He then heard rustling behind him as he let out a sigh of annoyance.

"If you want to sneak up on me, then make sure that you aren't making so much noise," Blue said as he turn around.

"Oh you're no fun," Then out of bushes came an annoyed Green as she walk over to him with her giant shield on her back.

"Well since we made eye contact, we're pretty much partners," Blue said as he stab his weapon on the ground.

"Well I was going for Yellow, but you guys are also fun," Green admitted.

"That is not a good explanation of why you are following me."

"Isn't that enough?"

"No."

"Man, you're such a party pooper."

"You still didn't answer the question."

"Alright fine, I was lost okay," She admitted in annoyance as Blue nods for the answer.

"Then let's go, we better hope that Red wouldn't get on another team," He said as Green look at him in curiosity.

"How could you tell?"

"The Headmaster might set up the team by how the two pairs perform together, I thought about when we got launched, so I had the idea for a while."

"Well aren't you a smart guy."

"Flattery ain't getting you nowhere woman."

"Well I–"

They then heard loud step from somewhere, followed by a loud rattle, then a loud growl. Green looked behind Blue with a look of shock on her face. He just sighs when he saw it.

"There's a Grimm behind me isn't there?"

"Yep."

"How big?"

"Twice your size."

"What does it look like?"

"A wolf."

"How many feet does it stand on?"

"Four."

"How many heads?"

"Just one."

"Does its eyes looks like its glowing bright?"

"Bright red."

"Well shit," Blue cursed as he turned around and saw the Grimm.

It was a giant wolf Grimm with glowing red eyes and sharp fangs. It's head is covered by plae black plates that resembles a canine skull which give the Grimm two sets of teeth. More pale black plates runs through out its body with black spikes piercing out of its skin, sharp claws, and a rattle on its tail.

"Nigeranis!" Blue shouted to Green as the massive Grimm pounce towards them.

The two rolled away from the attack as Blue faced it. He then charge in when he saw its face as he readied his sword to strike. The beast also charge at him as it went for another pounce but Blue quickly jump and landed on its back as he tries to strike its spine but the spikes on its back make it a little difficult to get some momentum on his swings. The Nigeranis then tried to get Blue of its back as the sword wielder went to pierce the more softer tissue of the Grimm to hold himself in place. Green meanwhile changed her shield into its sword form as she drag the giant blade on the ground and with a mighty heave, she got her blade off the ground as it heads straight to the Grimm. It quickly noticed the attack and quickly jump away to avoid it and made Blue struggle harder to stand up. Green kept swinging her blade as each swing made a large cut on the ground and cleave nearby rocks and trees, yet always misses the Nigeranis.

The Grimm then succeeded to get Blue off it as the young man teen quickly rolled to minimize the damage, but quickly saw the Grimm pouncing at him

He quickly slide under it, followed by a strike to the belly. It barely got a scratch as Blue saw segments of plate armor on the Grimms belly. As Blue stands up to look at the snarling Grimm, Green approached him.

"What do we do?" She asked as she quickly shift her sword back to the shield.

Blue looked at the Grimm more and said, "We need to run."

"What why?" Green asked him.

"The forest gave it an advantage in stealth, it would probably also know more about the forest than us. So we must go somewhere that we could get an advantage," Blue explained.

"Well if you say so smart guy," She said as the two quickly ran to somewhere while the Grimm chases them.

Back with Red and Yellow, the two are walking through the forest as they warily look around for any danger.

'How would Red think if he saw what I really look like?' Yellow thought as she keeps looking around but the thought never left her mind. She looked at her 'assets' and couldn't help but groan. 'Why can't I have something more my age? I already saw Green but the others are just in another level. At least there is someone I could relate to. I think it was that white haired girl.'

"Hey Yellow, what are you thinking about?" Red asked as Yellow looked embarrassed because of her spacing out.

"J-Just thinking of something," She said as Red scratches the back of his head.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Well..." She needs to think of something. What would he think? Would he freak out accept it, or make him look at her in a different view. All three are so embarrassing that she doesn't know what to do.

"RUBY!!" The quickly look up to see a large corvid Grimm and saw both Ruby and Weiss hanging on one of its talons.

"What are they doing on a Nevermore?" Yellow thought out.

"The hell if I know, but they are heading to the same direction," Red said as he watch the Grimm flying away with both Ruby and Weiss. "We should follow them, we might find the relic and save them."

"Well that's a good idea," Yellow commented as Red puff his chest, but he must focus on the task in hand.

The two then gave chase as they kept their gaze on the flying Grimm.

And that is it for that chapter.

I know that this is really short but the long ones are nearing.

This parts are only the introduction for the characters and you could already guess their personalities.

Also on my OC Grimm, the Nigeranis is based on Barghest, the Black Dog of Northern English Folklore. The name comes from the combination of the words nigre and canis which means "black dog". The characteristics are my own so I didn't copy any fake Grimms in the internet.

The Grimm might be shown during the team's adventure together as I really need it to be relevant unlike the Basilisk in Victory through Remnant, who has no relevance in my story.

I might think of other Grimms for this story that only Team RABG can encounter since I do want to show case my own Grimm in the mix.

But for now, I think that is enough for this chapter and I hope that you guys can wait for the next one.
