As the World Caves In
Rainbow Haired Girl
Summary: Loki and Everleigh disappear from Stark Tower in 2012 when Tony makes a mistake and they get the tesseract. Now Loki and Everleigh must face the dangerous path of being variants and help catch another Loki that is causing a lot of trouble. Side story to God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces.
Disclaimer: I don't own the series Loki, but I do own Everleigh in this story.
Authoress Note: I want to thank everyone who has kept up with the original story God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. I can't wait to see what you guys think of this story and how this is going to play out with 2012 Loki and Everleigh together. Granted Loki does need to grow in this story just like he did in the series, but I think it is also going to give him a chance to have Everleigh grow differently. I can't wait to show you guys how she'll grow in this story. Hopefully, y'all will enjoy this story as much as you guys enjoyed God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. I am constantly trying to make my stories better and hopefully, this story will be a long one. Granted not as long as what God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces is, but long enough. I think once Season 2 hits on Disney+ perhaps I'll add that in as well. But I want to know if you guys would like to see me cover season 2 of Loki in this story as well because there is no reason to have a separate story for Season 2 of Loki. I kind of like to have one story for the Loki series. Enough of my rambling. I've been going on long enough about my excitement about writing this story and showing how the 2012 versions of Loki and Everleigh will grow through this story. Hopefully, I will do this story justice by trying to write different versions of Loki and Everleigh. Without further ado the Prologue of As the World Caves In. ENJOY!
Prologue
Loki crawled over to a stair and turned to see the Avengers surrounding him.
Clint had an arrow aimed at his face keeping it rather steady with narrowed eyes at the god. He wasn't about to allow the man to escape from justice.
Natasha held his scepter, her eyes narrowed at the god. She knew what would happen if Loki got his hands back onto the scepter.
Hulk growled, making Loki kind of shrink down.
"If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now," Loki said softly trying to deflect the fact that he had lost. And without the scepter, he knew that he wasn't going to be able to get anywhere.
"All right, get him on his feet. We can all stand around posing up a storm later. By the way, feel free to clean up." Tony said, looking at the fallen god. Not caring that Loki wanted a drink. That time had come and gone and he wasn't going to honor it now.
Everleigh moved forward tiredly and pulled him up off of the ground not noticing the look that Loki had on his face seeing how tired she was and how her magic was weakly calling to him.
Loki's brows furrowed together as he looked at her. "Why would she let her magic deplete so terribly?" He thought as he tore his eyes away from her before turning his attention to his oaf of a brother.
Thor put a set of cuffs on his brother.
Everleigh looked at Loki's eyes and saw that they were finally green. She pursed her lips knowing that it wasn't all that easy to have his brother arrest him.
"Who gets the, uh, magic wand?" Natasha questioned holding it in her hand.
"STRIKE team's coming to secure it," Tony said, waving his hand as he moved away from the team to finish off the glass of whiskey that he had prior.
A team with Rumlow and Sitwell entered the room.
"We can take that off your hands," Sitwell said as he took it from Natasha.
"By all means. Careful with that thing." Natasha said handing it to him not wanting to be responsible for the thing anymore.
"Unless you want your mind erased. And not in a fun way." Clint said, shaking his head, shuddering on the inside remembering what had happened to him.
"We promise to be careful," Sitwell said with a firm nod of his head.
"On my way down to coordinate search and rescue," Steve said as he headed towards the elevator and stairs to check if there were any people trapped among other things.
Loki suddenly transformed into Steve. "On my way down to coordinate search and rescue!" He transformed back into his normal self. "I mean, honestly! How do you think you'll be…"
Suddenly Thor slapped a device on Loki's mouth to keep him quiet. "Shut up."
Everleigh simply shook her head. She knew that there was no way that Loki would have kept his mouth shut about what Steve had said and kind of went bantering back with his brother like it was a normal thing for him to do. "Shall we?" She slowly walked as Thor dragged his brother towards the elevator.
The Avengers got into the elevator to go down to the main lobby.
Hulk went to follow but found it was full. "Move."
"Whoa!" Thor said, holding up his hands.
"Whoa, whoa. Hey! Buddy. What do you think? Maximum occupancy has been reached." Tony said, looking up at the green fighting machine.
"Take the stairs."
"Yeah."
Hulk drew his fist back as the elevator closed.
"Stop. Stop!"
He followed through with the punch making a dent right in the door. "Take the stairs! Hate the stairs!"
Everleigh let out a breath leaning back against the wall. She felt so exhausted that her whole body ached and on top of those aches were even more aches. She knew that it was going to be something to take her a while to heal from. She had to admit that it was probably one of the better fights that she had been in.
Clint looked over at Everleigh with a concerned look on his face. "You alright there kid?"
Everleigh let out a breathless laugh. "Yeah, I'll be alright once I catch my breath." She said looking over at him and meeting blue questioning eyes.
Clint let out a soft breath. "You've used a lot of magic. I'm just concerned that you used too much of it."
"I'll be alright old man," Everleigh said, giving him a slight smile. She wasn't used to the fussing from Clint. She closed her eyes tiredly leaning back against the wall. Her arms ached as she moved like knives in the muscles as she moved.
The elevator opened up and they all got out of it and headed toward the exit.
Everleigh tiredly walked next to where Loki was to make sure that he didn't do anything by trying to get away.
Loki's eyes shifted towards the young blonde-haired woman who proved that she was a warrior and then some. He had to admit that she was a formidable warrior and very talented in what she did. Her magic needed some work, but with time she would be a talented witch. Perhaps if things would have been different he would've taken the young witch under his wing and taught her everything that she needed to know about her powers and perhaps more.
"May I ask you where you're going?" Pierce questioned looking at them.
"To lunch and then Asgard. I'm sorry, you are?" Thor questioned as he looked at the man.
"Alexander Pierce. He's the man, one of the folks behind Nick Fury." Tony replied to Thor letting him know who the man was before them.
"My friends call me Mr. Secretary. I'm gonna have to ask you to turn that prisoner over to me."
"Loki will be answering to Odin himself," Thor said, grasping his hammer tighter in his hand.
"Oh, he's gonna answer us. Odin can have what's left. And I'm gonna need that case, that's been SHIELD property for over 70 years."
"Hand over the case, Stark." One of the agents said, narrowing his eyes at Tony.
"I'm not gonna argue who's got the higher authority here, all right?" Tony questioned looking at the agent that was trying to get the case from him.
"I need the case," Pierce said, looking at them.
"I know you got a lotta pull. I'm just saying…" Tony said, rolling his eyes not liking the fact that Pierce was trying to order him around.
"Okay. Then give me the case."
"Get your hands off!" Tony suddenly dropped the case.
"Stark?" Pierce questioned rather concerned.
"Stark!" Thor said in alarm.
Tony fell to the ground hard.
"Look, he's convulsing. Give him air! Medic!" Pierce shouted.
"MEDIC! You guys, some help!" A man called out.
"Stark, you- your chest machine?" Pierce questioned as they tried to help Tony.
Suddenly the case was pushed in a direction that was away from them.
Loki looked at the case rather befuddled about what was going on.
A man dressed in Shield gear grabbed the case. "Good job. Meet me in the alley. I'm gonna grab a quick slice."
"Tony watch…" A woman said as suddenly the Hulk came from the staircase slamming into the man knocking him to the ground and causing him to lose the tesseract.
"NO STAIRS!"
Loki felt something hit his feet and looked down seeing the tesseract there. He leaned down picking it up.
Everleigh grabbed onto the tesseract trying to get it out of his hold before the both of them disappeared.
"You'll be fine, Stark. Stay with us! I'll try something, okay? I have no idea if it's gonna work." Thor said as he used Mjolnir as a defibrillator on the younger version of Tony. "YES!"
Tony groaned softly. "That worked a treat. That was so crazy!"
"I had no idea if that was gonna work."
"The case?"
"The case. It's, uhh... Where's the case? Where's Loki? Loki!" Thor then looked around even more, noticing that Everleigh wasn't there. "Lady Everleigh?!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This is the end of the Prologue. I know that there is quite a bit from my story already in here for the prologue but trust me I wanted to do it this way. I just added a few extra things to transition into the Loki series. I'm excited to write this story out. Granted I'm writing this as of February 9th of 2023 and this probably won't be posted for a bit. Just since I'm waiting until I post the chapter that coincides with the Prologue. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I know that the Prologue is fairly long which is surprising. But I'm excited that it is fairly good in length meaning that I have to do fairly well with the chapters. I hopefully will update you next week with a brand new chapter. Until next time.
