When Logic Sinks In 4 - or 'From Soulless Nerd, to Mighty Lich God' (Pre-Kuroinu, Kin!SI)

Geofu, Chloe rationalized, was a dreadful place.

Albeit many were taken by the distant view of the emerald-tipped towers within the rich quarters of the capital, Kin's own words had resonated with a harsh truth anyone could spot once through the front gates of the city: the stench of the slums reminded the locals that the capital was rotten.

To the young dark elf, it was a bit of a surprise. Just a tiny and brief one considering that her previous 'master' was someone that had been known as a 'pious man'.

So, for the capital of this 'holy nation', it made sense that the lies were all wrapped 'beneath the rug'. It was even more evident through the sight of fellow 'imprisoned dark elves' being moved around as people sneered and snarled at them for 'everything they did against their goddess'.

Chloe felt glad that Kin had casted a disguise spell to change the perception of others over her skin color. She appeared to be now as pallid as Kin, and her ears were 'changed' into human round ones. She was kept the same for what was left, with them both now wandering by foot as to go around the major controls in the city by exploiting an opening leading to the slums and then to the 'poor quarters'.

"In most cities, there's just two slices- rich and poor. In this one, there's the rich, the poor, and the subhumans."

A term Chloe loathed on the spot. It was vexing to know this was where the behavior that hurt her so much, that took so much from her young life, stemmed from this very place. A place which was meant to be an example of 'goodness', but that actually bore the sins that cursed the land itself.

Still, the girl didn't understand why they were passing by it. And a quick question got a fairly simple answer.

"We can't exactly enter here by chariot as they would perceive the foul magic to sustain the charioteers. No, we have to pay for service to a reliable 'safe' ride through our destination."

A tragic circumstance, but not one that annoyed Chloe much as they were pacing fast without paying much attention around as they were focusing on the only goal why they were there- get to where the other gates were, and leave Geofu for good.

As they were getting closer to the gates, Kin stopped as he spotted something strange happening near one of the market square's corners. They approached despite the fact this wasn't a matter that concerned them but... Chloe took notice of something that could be of their interest- the source of the commotion which saw a large crowd around a small battle unfolding, was a fat-looking man holding a knife as he attacked two children.

One of those was cloaked, but by her voice she could tell it was a girl- same for the red-haired red-eyed girl that was getting wrecked by the better-trained fat man. The unpleasant grin on his face had her remember the many unpleasant nights before she was saved by Kin and, almost instinctively, she found her answer to the quizzical look her first friend was giving her.

Should we save them?

Chloe nodded. It felt risky since it was clearly going to involve magic, but she was taken aback by the tricks used by Kin in this specific instance.

With a snap of fingers, a small portal opened by the ground where the fat man was now rushing towards to get to the wounded redhead, a skeleton's hand manifesting and easily grasping the man's leg, causing him to trip and, with a second snap, the blade was redirected so that his face landed right onto it.

It was an immediate death, and one that elicited panicked yells as the crown grew agitated at the sight of such demise. Chloe tensed up as two more snaps caught her attention, with the first one detonating what appeared to be a smoke blast that shrouded the entire area, while the second one pulling the girls through the crowd and towards them.

Chloe was suddenly carrying the injured redhead, her eyes and hair now morphing into a light blue as she carried her away from that place. She followed Kin as he was now dragging the cloaked girl while holding her hand. There was not a single hint of chase but-

"Better safe than sorry," He grumbled as they rushed the process of getting them all out.

"W-Wait, what are you-"

"If you stay behind, they will put you in trial for killing that guy," Kin interrupted the wounded girl, surprising her with that development. "Hence why you need to leave Geofu. Now."

"It's- It's alright, Maia. They seem like nice people."

"...I-I see." The redhead nodded, saddened but clearly not bound to this place by family. By a glance alone, Chloe could tell she was an orphan- just like them. But as they all went through the process of paying for a chariot and having it hastily readied to depart Geofu, the Dark Elf's attention was directed towards the cloaked girl as she could tell that something was up with her.

And as the chariot rushed out of the gates, gaining no interest from the guards as the lack of magic used in that premise failed to alert them about this escape, Chloe found herself floored as the other girl dropped her hood and revealed her blonde hair, her green eyes and her... elven ears.

But while that revelation unfolded, her disguise fell and-

"Wow, you are a Dark Elf! Are you, like, related to Tia?" Maia asked giddily, leaving Chloe a bit awkward at being called a 'relative' to a normal elf but... Kin's smile lessened the unease.

"No."

"N-Nice to meet you all. I am Tio and... I was a slave to that merchant before Maia saved me," the blonde elf remarked. "And I have to thank you both for rescuing me. I swear my life to you both!"

...

AN

Diary of a Lolified Goddess: Day 1 - Plan proceeds as intended. Time to enjoy some freedom thanks to lil Necromancer-kun.

And this is... back! At the request of the Patrons as they requested this as an option in the latest poll so we are so back. And Maia is a loli at this point! This means that she doesn't meet Vult but will still get adorably stuck to 'want to spar' with Kin. Even though he is not a Warrior/Barbarian.

With that being said. Do Check the Pxtreon to make your input known there!
