Summary: Striker reads a letter from Jane.

Clayton

If you're reading this, you're probably reading my diary right now. I want you to keep it for our child. Give it to him when the time is right. Hopefully, I'll still be around and it won't get to that, but just in case, keep it somewhere safe. If something were to happen to me, take good care of our baby. Love him, be there for him and let him know that he's not alone.

When I learned I was pregnant, I was the happiest woman in the 7 rings. Not only about the idea of being a mother, but also because I knew that there was a little piece of you growing within my entrails. The consummation of our love.

Ever since we kissed for the first time as kids, I knew you were the one I wanted as my life partner, my best friend, and the man who'd make me a woman. It seems like yesterday when we were just children at play, once when we watched a lazy world go by. How fast those moments flee.

I love you with all of my being, Clayton. Never forget it.

Forever yours, Jane.

Striker was brought back to the present by a small tug on his pants. He quickly wiped his tears with his sleeves before looking down. Jake's little hand was grasping him while the other held a storybook by the cover and dragged it on the floor.

"Why are you up so late, pup?" he didn't actually need to ask. It was evident what Jake wanted.

Striker smiled as he picked up the little one and went to tuck him back into bed. Then he skipped through the storybook's pages until he found Jake's favorite story.
