I hope you all enjoy and have a wonderful day.
Prologue
On a cloudy Saturday morning an adult man was walking the streets of New York, he had crimson red hair that fell to his shoulders, blue eyes, and was six feet tall. This was Naruto Uzumaki, 26 years old and a man of uniqueness with his Asian heritage and red hair.
His outfit consisted of a white T-shirt, a green bomber jacket, jeans, a pair of black Air Force ones, aviators on his face, and dog tags around his neck from his time in the USMC.
He was on his way to his favorite bodega, one he frequented quite a bit, to get his breakfast sandwich.
Turning the corner, he saw his first destination of the morning, Tulio's FoodMart and Deli, a place he had been going to ever since he had moved out of his parent's house outside the city limits. Naruto had become a regular and was friends with the owner and his wife.
Entering the store and taking off his sunglasses, Naruto was greeted with the noise of a bell chiming. To a newcomer, this would be weird considering there was no bell on the door, but Naruto looked over to see two blue Macaws sitting on a perch that was set up for the two, they were the birds of the bodega and made sure to catch any mice that came into their domain.
Walking up to them he rubs the male's head and patted the back of the female, "Hey Blu, hey Jewel, how are you two love birds doing?" He asked, Blu bit his hand lightly at the teasing, causing Naruto to chuckle before walking over to the counter to talk to the owner.
Hey Tulio! How are you doing, my man?" He asked, fist bumping the man.
"Naruto my friend! I'm doing quite well." Tulio replied while pushing up his glasses. Tulio was an immigrant from Rio de Janeiro, he had moved to the United States after marrying his wife Linda who had moved her bookstore from Minnesota to New York since it had better opportunities for the two and their birds.
Leaning on the counter, Naruto spoke in a slightly lower tone of voice, "Good to hear, I see our little blue friends are doing good too. How's Linda?"
"She is alright, a little sad about how slow business can be but she's hanging in there." Tulio said, frowning about his wife's business, something she held much passion and love for. He hated seeing her down about low foot traffic into her store.
Frowning at hearing that, Naruto decided on what to do later that day, "Man…You hate to see it. I'll swing by her store later today to cheer her up."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want our troubles to ruin your day off." Tulio asked, not wanting to impede on his friend's free time.
Giving a grin at the obvious worry that was being shown, Naruto made sure to reassure the store owner, "Of course! You two are my friends, I can't just leave y'all hanging. Why don't I bring Blu with me to help out? We'll grab coffee and some pastries for Linda."
Letting out a small laugh of exuberance, Tulio reached across the counter and grabbed Naruto by the shoulders and gave a small shake, "Haha! Naruto my boy, you are a godsend! Please do so, and give her my love if you would. And make sure to bring Blu with you."
"It'd be my pleasure, Tulio." Naruto said with a wide smile, "Lemme get my usual sandwich and I'll head out." With that said, Tulio gave an affirmative response and began to make a sausage, egg, and cheese topped with bacon and maple syrup.
Wrapping the sandwich in deli paper and placing it in a small brown bag, Tulio handed Naruto his food. Naruto went to pull out his wallet but the store owner waved him off, "No need to pay this time it's on me."
"You sure? Cause I'm perfectly fine with paying." Naruto said with a light frown, he didn't want to just take food from a small business without paying for it.
That brought a small smile to the owner's face, "Of course, besides you're already paying me by checking on Linda." He stated, glad to have such a good friend in the city.
Tucking his wallet back into his pocket, Naruto gave a nod and said thanks before heading towards the door.
Before leaving he whistled and called out, "Blu! I'm going to see Linda, you wanna come?"
Perking up at that, the bird looked at Naruto before turning his head to his mate, as if he was asking permission to leave, at what looked like a nod Blu flew over to Naruto and landed on his shoulder.
Naruto gave a small chuckle at the little play by play, "Heh. Had to ask the wife to leave, did you now?" He said, finding it funny.
The Macaw pecked him in the head at the little jab, causing Naruto to rub the spot lightly, "Ow you little asshole, whatever let's get outta here." With that said Naruto walked outside, putting his shades back on, and began his impromptu plans for today.
With the bird still on his shoulder and an empty paper bag that he had scrunched up in hand, Naruto was currently on his way to a local coffee shop, a favorite spot of his for a few years.
Spotting a public trash bin a few yards in front of him, Naruto looked to Blu and handed him the balled up bag before saying, "Throw me a lob buddy." The avian gave a nod before flapping his wings and began hovering before flying forward towards the trash can and pulling up into the air and letting go of the makeshift ball.
Running up to the trash can, Naruto jumped up and grabbed the paper ball, moving it under his leg and into his other hand, and then slamming it into the bin. Landing on the ground, his flying friend landed back on his shoulder as well.
They looked at each other before Naruto raised his hand towards Blu with the bird raising his foot to tap the hand.
"Good work bud." Naruto said with a grin, that had improved his already good day.
After 5 more minutes of walking, they finally made it to a coffee shop that was known for good coffee and even greater pastries.
Opening the door and walking inside, a number of the patrons gave him some stares for the bird on his shoulder before going back to their own business, chalking it up to normal New York weirdness.
Moving to the counter that fortunately had no line, Naruto began to place his order after greeting the barista, "Hey there. Can I get a latte with vanilla creamer and one black coffee to go?" Making sure to get the coffee before anything else.
"Anything else for you today?" The barista asked, "Yeah lemme get four lemon bars and two cheese danishes. Oh, could I also possibly get a large cup of mixed berries for my friend here?" He asked, not wanting to leave out his companion for the day.
Giving her customer a smile for including his animal friend, she nodded and gave him his receipt after he paid.
After a few minutes of waiting, his order was called out. Walking up to the counter, he grabbed the disposable drink holder and the brown bag holding the pastries and turned around.
While he was turning around he ended up bumping into someone, causing his drinks to tip and almost spill their contents onto his white shirt.
Luckily the person he bumped into placed a hand on the opposite side of his drink carrier and leveled it out. Naruto breathed a sigh of relief at his shirt being saved before looking to his apparent savior.
His savior turned out to be a beautiful woman who stood at 5'7, she had neck length black hair and was of Asian descent, Korean if he had to guess.
Naruto handed the bag to Blu who held it in his beak, after handing the bag off he took off his shades and tucked them into a pocket inside his jacket. The woman let go of the drink carrier which allowed him to transfer it to his left hand and held out his right for a handshake.
"Thanks for the save there, I almost ruined my favorite shirt." He stated, wanting to express his gratitude.
Grasping his hand, she gave him a smile and responded, "No problem at all, I was the one who bumped into you by accident anyways."
Releasing the handshake the two stood there for a second, "I'm Naruto Uzumaki by the way, it's nice to meet you…" he said, trailing off at the end, hoping to get her name.
"Oh! My name's Cindy Moon, it's nice to meet you too Naruto." She said with slightly red cheeks at not introducing herself sooner, especially to a handsome man like the one standing before her right now.
"Well I should be going Cindy, but if you wouldn't mind I'd like to pay you back for helping me out." He said, wanting to see her again without making it obvious.
"You don't have to do that. I was just doing the right thing." She said, not wanting to impose on him.
Naruto shook his head at that, "Please I must insist, all good deeds should be rewarded after all."
…Alright, if you insist it's only polite to accept," she replied, hesitant at first, "What do you have in mind?"
Smiling at the acceptance, Naruto began to speak, "Why don't you let me buy you lunch today? I know this family owned Asian restaurant that's just amazing."
Cindy put her index finger on her chin in short contemplation before nodding, "Sure why not? Sounds like a fun time." She said, and grabbed the receipt off the bag of pastries and pulled out a pen from her pocket, and wrote down her phone number before handing it to Naruto who looked at it and put it in his pocket.
"Text me the address and I'll meet you there, say at one o'clock?" She asked, taking charge for the time to arrive.
Nodding, he replied, "I can do that, see you then Cindy." He began to walk off, while she said her goodbyes, "See you later Naruto." With that said she walked up to place her order and prepare for, what seemed like, a date.
Naruto walked into an almost empty bookstore, the only other person there was the owner who was at the front desk, reading a book. Walking up to her, he placed the bag and drinks down in front of her which caused her to look up.
He smiled down at her before speaking, "Hey there Linda, I brought you coffee and some snacks."
Linda gained a big smile and stood up, "Naruto! What are you doing here?" She said and hugged, which he reciprocated, pulling back she noticed the bird she had raised since she was a child, who was sitting on Naruto's shoulder still, "You brought Blu as well? You're amazing."
Grinning at her excitement, "Tulio sends his love by the way," He said while grabbing a chair and placing it next to her desk while Blu flew to the desk and opened his cup of berries, and began to eat them.
Naruto grabbed the cup of berries and removed it from the carrier to make it easier for the bird to eat. After doing so he grabbed the two coffees and handed the latte to Linda and brought his black coffee closer to himself.
Taking a sip of the latte, Linda gave a sigh of satisfaction. After a few seconds of silence and a few more sips of her latte, she asked her question once again, "So, what are you doing here?"
He shrugged his shoulders at the question before answering, "Me and Tulio-" "Tulio and I." Linda had cut him off to correct his sentence. He rolled his eyes at that before continuing his sentence.
"Whatever. We were talking and I asked how you were doing so he told me about the low foot traffic here so I decided to stop by and bring Blu with me."
She frowned ever so slightly at the hidden concern from her husband and her friend. Though she did start to smile knowing how caring her friend could be and the well meaning behind her husband's intentions.
She looked around the shop, not finding what she was looking for, she decided to go a different route, "Hey Naruto," She said, grabbing his attention, "Where's Riley at? Did you leave him at home?"
He nodded his head at the question before answering, "Yeah, the old boy was feeling lazy today. I understand that though he's retired, I'll probably take him to the park after lunch today."
With no context on who Riley was, most people would be wondering why Naruto had to take an old man to the park. That old man was a retired military working dog. Naruto was his handler while in the Marine Corp and decided to adopt Riley since the dog was being retired and needed a home while Naruto had been honorably discharged already and wanted his old friend with him. Riley was a German Shepherd who had seen plenty of action in his time.
Linda perked up slightly, curious about why it had to be after lunch, "Oh? Why does it have to be after lunch if you have no plans today?"
He scratched his head lightly at the question, "Well," he said, dragging out the word, "I might or might not be having a date for lunch today."
"Is that so?" She said, taking a sip of her coffee before setting it down, in a flash she was on her feet and shaking Naruto, "Why didn't you say so sooner?! Tell me who, why, where, and how! I need to know everything!"
He grabbed her arms and pried them off of him, "Christ woman, what is wrong with you? I've been on dates before."
After calming down she had her arms released from his large grip, she blushed in embarrassment for her excitement. She still smiled but it wasn't as big as before, she sat back down and began to speak with more composure.
"I know you've dated before but you haven't gone on one ever since… her." She said, with a great deal of malice in her voice towards that last word, "She caused you so much pain, Tulio and I thought we wouldn't see you again."
Naruto frowned lightly at the reminder of his ex-girlfriend, but it was wiped away with a smile that had come from the woman's concern.
"Please Linda, you don't have to worry about something like that happening again, I've learned from the experience," He said, before quoting his favorite writer, "Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility." After finishing the quote he took a sip of his coffee and leaned back in his chair with a small smile.
…
Linda pushed her glasses up considering they had fallen slightly while he was speaking, "That's Kahlil Gibran right? I didn't know you read his work." She stated, if she had known that information before she would have gotten him a better gift for his birthday instead of a gift card for fucking Applebees.
"Yep. That quote and a few others actually helped with the pain I was going through. I don't know what might've happened if I never read that quote." He said, after saying that they sat in a somewhat awkward silence for a short time before his female companion broke it with a question.
"So you never answered my question earlier, how did you get a date and with who?" She asked, very much wanting an answer to her inquiry.
He scratched his cheek at the question before answering, "Well when I was getting the coffee and pastries I knocked into someone and almost spilled our drinks on myself before this absolutely beautiful, and I'm being serious here she was stunning, woman who grabbed the carrier before it tipped too far." He stated, still grateful for it.
"We're meeting for lunch today so I can thank her." He said, remembering he still needed to text her the restaurant location.
"Well that's nice of you," she said while leaning forward and lightly pushing his shoulder, he chuckled at that before replying, "Yeah I guess you could say I have… W rizz." He said, while biting his lip and squinting his eyes.
Linda blinked slowly before saying, "I don't know what that is." Naruto waved her off before saying it was an internet thing.
He looked at his phone to check the time before telling her he had to take off to finish a few things before meeting Cindy.
Waving goodbye he opened the door before she stopped him, "Wait! Before you go, what's this girl's name?"
"Her name's Cindy, Cindy Moon, wish me luck." He said, giving her a two finger salute, he left the shop to be on his way.
Having already sent the meeting location to his date, Naruto had finished all his preparations and was now waiting outside for her while scrolling through social media.
He didn't wait long before he saw Cindy approach from the corner of his eye, she had changed clothes going from an obvious low effort outfit from the morning to one meant for a casual lunch date. A lunch date that both participants hoped would turn out great.
He put his phone away and walked her way as well, once they were close enough Cindy spoke before he had a chance to, "Hey Naruto! I'm glad you got here before me, I wasn't sure if I was heading to the right place or not."
"Good thing the military instilled a sense of being early in me," He said, contributing his time of arrival to his training.
"You were in the military?" She asked, wanting to know more about the subject and about Naruto as well.
He grabbed his dog tags and brought them forward to show the engravings, "Yep, United States Marine Corps, I enlisted at 18 and served for five years," He said, proud of his time served, "I was promoted to Sergeant before I was honorably discharged and they paid for my college and I still get disability checks from them for some injuries I got while deployed."
Cindy was in a bit of awe at his achievements before he decided to change the subject, "So you ready to go in my lady?" He said jokingly, holding his arm out to emphasize the joke though she surprised him by wrapping her arms around his significantly larger one.
She tilted her head up in a pretentious way before replying, "Indeed I am my dear sir, I'm quite famished." She said, playing along with the joke before they bursted out in laughter.
"Heh, well let's go get a table then," Naruto said before they went inside, with Cindy not letting go of his arm, though he didn't mind that.
Naruto and Cindy had spent the last two hours eating and chatting to get to know each other better, it had at first been a little awkward but they eventually got the ball rolling and had been having a grand time together.
The two had learned a lot about each other so far, Naruto had found she was two years older than him putting her at 28 and how she's been working for J. Jonah Jameson and his clickbait driven news site. It had some dumb name he couldn't remember.
Cindy had learned he studied at Empire State University and majored in zoology which allowed him to work at the Central Park Zoo and spent most of his time with the leopards since he had raised the ones in the exhibit when he started there.
She had also found out he owned a dog named Riley he had known since his Marine days, a fun fact she was told about military dogs is that they're always one rank higher than their handlers to prevent possible abuse.
The two had been inside the restaurant for almost two hours even after they had finished their food, they had loved talking to each other and didn't want it to end too soon.
Unfortunately Naruto still had to take his dog on walk otherwise he might end up ruining his carpeting, 'I should invest in puppy pads just in case I run late one day' he thought to himself absently.
Naruto and Cindy had left the restaurant and were now standing outside facing each other and saying their goodbyes.
"I enjoyed this Naruto, I don't normally get to do this kind of thing." Cindy said, pushing some hair behind her ear to keep it out her face, she had truly enjoyed the lunch she shared with the man.
He had a small smile at those words, grateful that their lunch date had gone well, "I'm glad you had a good time Cindy," He said before scratching the back of his head a little in nervousness, "Do you uh… Do you wanna maybe do this again sometime?"
"Yes!" She said very enthusiastically, too much enthusiasm if you ask her, she coughed and said it once again only with more composure this time, "Yes, I'd like that."
He gave a muffled laugh at her slip up, hoping she wouldn't catch his amusement at her blunder. Unfortunately for him she did, causing her to narrow her eyes at him menacingly.
He held up his hands in a surrender and apologized, once given an apology she let up on her glare.
"How about I arrange our next date?" Cindy said teasingly, though she was serious about wanting to go on an actual date with him.
"Oh? A date huh? Well that certainly sounds interesting," Naruto said, glad she was the first one to call it a date, "Let me know when and where, I'll be there."
With that said Naruto turned around to leave but stopped halfway before turning back around to face his female companion, "Actually Cindy before I go, do you wanna maybe join me and Riley for our walk in the park? I'm sure he'd love to meet you. Between you and me, he doesn't get out much." He said the last part jokingly but was serious about the invite.
Cindy gained a bright smile at the invite before nodding her head, she once again wrapped her arms around his arm and said, "Lead the way my good sir." Causing him to chuckle before doing what she commanded, heading towards his apartment.
It had been three years since Naruto and Cindy went on that first date, Cindy was now 31 and Naruto was 29, they had made it official after the fifth date and eventually moved in with each other after a year and a half of being together.
Cindy had yet to tell him about her alter ego, the spider themed superhero Silk. She felt terrible about hiding such a thing from her boyfriend for so long but she had resolved herself to tell him today when he got home later.
Naruto was currently on his way back to the shared apartment of him and his girlfriend Cindy. He was coming back from work and had changed out of his work clothes into a pair of cargo shorts, red T-shirt, a pair of gray and dark red Nike Dunk High Retro shoes, and his favorite green bomber jacket. It had become his favorite because he met Cindy while wearing it. He knew it was a bit cheesy but no else needed to know why it was his favorite.
While he was walking he was also thinking over the relationship he somehow managed to make and maintain with a wonderful woman who was only slightly older than him. Everything just felt when he was with her, like he was on top of the world and nothing could stop him.
They had a few fights every now and then over stupid things, like how he had a collection of guns which she did not approve of but that was just who he was and she accepted that eventually. They had another fight over Cindy randomly disappearing at times without saying anything because of her work. That had given him severe anxiety when he was left alone with his thoughts, she could be lying and meeting someone.
He had eventually killed that line of thinking and talked to her about it, he even opened up about the girlfriend before her who had broken his heart with how she treated him. That had brought the two closer and made their relationship stronger.
'I guess I really do have W rizz.' he thought humorously to himself with a small grin.
Naruto walked past a building and to his left was an alley, normally he would keep on walking but he had heard a low screech of some kind come from the darkness of the alley. He could barely hear it but it still caught his attention.
He stopped and looked around, noticing he seemed to be the only one who heard it. Deciding to investigate, he took the first step into the alley and moved forward slowly, once deep enough he pulled back his right jacket flap revealing a holster with a pistol in it.
Grabbing the grip, he slid it out and revealed a Smith & Wesson SD9VE that was loaded with 9 millimeter, he would've preferred something that shot .45 acp but he decided to pack light today.
He creeped further into the dark alley when he reached a corner, he could hear a whimpering of some kind from around the corner.
Naruto posted up against the wall and took his phone, he saw a missed text from Cindy but decided to respond later. He selected the camera app and switched the camera as if he was about to take a selfie. Rather than take a picture of himself, he moved the screen around the corner to take a peek with his camera.
On the screen he saw a moving black blob of some kind, possibly a cat or small dog. He placed his gun back in its holster and put his phone in his pocket before turning the corner and going to check on the small creature.
As he got closer he saw that it wasn't a cat or dog by rather a moving mass of black goo, "What… the… fuck?" He said aloud, catching the attention of seemingly alive goo. It had two completely white eyes and a mouth but no limbs of any kind. It looked like an alien.
The being looked up at him and recoiled before hissing at the human that was much larger than it. He raised his hands in a non threatening way and kneeled down on one knee.
"Hey, hey, it's okay… I'm not here to hurt you, I just wanna help." He said gently, despite his original apprehension, he didn't want to leave an injured being by itself when he could do something.
He tried his best to look it over without touching it but couldn't find anything wrong, Naruto decided to try to gain the possible aliens' trust. He slowly moved his hand towards it to allow the goo with a head to sniff his hand.
The creature was curious but wary at the action, once the hand was close enough it gave a tiny sniff, then a few more sniffs before it began to rub its head against the human's hand and seemed to let out a purring of some kind.
"Haha, there we go my friend, no need to be scared of me." Naruto said in a gentle and calming voice, making sure to not aggravate it. He started patting its head and continued talking in a comforting voice.
A crash of some kind happened behind Naruto causing both him and his new friend to jump. He turned around to see a cat playing with a tin can, causing him to give a light chuckle before turning back to face the blob.
Only to notice that it had gotten smaller… and his hand was black for some reason… Why was his hand black?! And why was his new friend attached to said black hand?!
He grabbed it with his other hand and try to peel it off but it started spreading to his other hand too, he quickly stood up and stumbled backwards in a panic.
No… no… no… no get off of me! GET OFF!" He yelled, but he was eventually covered entirely by the being, causing him to black out.
Cindy was worried now, she had texted Naruto two hours ago asking when he was getting home and he still hadn't responded. Their dog Riley had become restless as well, he was laying on the couch next to his new mom that his dad had brought one day and he had his head on her lap and whimpering. Causing Cindy to rub his head to calm him down.
She felt something was wrong and decided to go looking for him in her alter ego, so she walked into their room and opened the closet. She searched for a few seconds before finding a locked box, she pulled a key from her pocket and unlocked it, opening the box to reveal her super suit. It had black limbs with white stripes, two red fingers on both gloves, a white torso with red spiderweb patterns and had a sorta red curved bolt, and finally it had a red half mask that covered the lower part of the face.
Once putting on the suit, she made sure Riley had food and water before petting him one last time and running to the open window in the living room to dive out. She went into a free fall, a long one considering how high up the apartment was from the ground, and shot out a web to swing towards the normal path that her boyfriend usually took to get home.
After ten minutes of swinging she heard screams of fear coming from a street to the left. She didn't want to change trajectory but she still had a duty to protect the weak and innocent.
She shot a web at the corner of a building and used her momentum to turn and launch herself down the street. Landing on a flag pole she saw what looked like a man in all black ripping off a car door and throwing it at a lamp post.
Deciding she'd seen enough, she shot a web from each hand and pulled back to slingshot herself towards the man to shoulder bash him in the back causing him to launch forward and roll while Silk landed on her feet.
The man turned around to reveal big white eyes, a large mouth full of sharp teeth, and he had claws that could cut through steel. Currently he was growling at her and crouching down, he was almost on all fours.
Silk had never encountered him before but from what Spider-Man had told her, it looked like the guy was infected with a symbiote. At first glance people would think it would be Venom but there was no giant white spider on the chest or back, only giant white eyes while the rest of the body was black.
While she was looking him over, the possessed man leapt at her and tried to claw her face off, luckily she was able to react in time and ducked, causing him to fly over her.
'What the fuck?! Why didn't my spider-sense go off?' She thought while turning around, before she remembered that Peter Parker, her ex AKA Spider-Man, told her that spider-sense didn't work on symbiotes, 'Damn, this fight is gonna be a pain in the ass for sure.'
The symbiote let out an intimidating roar towards his opponent but the roar wasn't deep like a lion but it was high pitched and sounded like a screech as well as roar.
"Now is really not the time for this dude!" Silk yelled, irritated both because this hindered her search for Naruto and because her spider-sense would be useless during this fight, "You wanna play with me? Well let's go! Let's get this over with!"
The street was dead silent while the two had a face off, the citizens off to the side recording didn't dare say a word less the superpowered beings decided to turn their attention to the spectators.
What felt like minutes were only seconds before the two rushed at each other, the symbiote infected man running on all fours like a beast while Silk was running on her two feets when suddenly they both jumped into the air.
The beast had a hand poised to claw at her while the hero pulled her fist back for a punch.
The true fight had finally started.
