Daddy is always the first thing Jake sees in the morning.

Something was different. He used to sleep in an enclosed space that would only let him see above. Now he slept in one that had bars at the sides that let him see more of the outside world. At first, he wanted his cradle back, but a few days later he warmed up to this one once he learned that he could nibble on the bars.

Jake giggled and reached out for the hanging carousel of small plushies over his head, kicking and gurgling in delight. Then daddy peeked into the crib and smiled down at him. Jake immediately reached out to daddy, giggling.

"Good mornin' to ya too, pup." Daddy picked him up to hold him up in the air. "Did ya have sweet dreams?" Jake gripped daddy's mustache and tugged them playfully. Daddy chuckled and toyed with his fingers. "Today's my free day, so ye and I could spend some quality time together. I was thinkin' we could go for a walk with Bombproof and visit yer grandma. How does that sound?" Jake simply clapped his hands, smiling. "How about we have some tasty breakfast first, my boy? I bet yer starvin'."

Daddy held him close to his chest as he walked out of the room.

Jake snuggled into daddy's embrace. He didn't really mind where daddy took him. He was just happy to be with him.
