Chapter 8:
Dear Ms. Bell,
We have received intelligence that you performed a dangerous spell that caused the death of Cassius Bell.
The severity of this breach of the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery has resulted in your expulsion from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, along with Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unfortunately, Ministry representatives will be ringing at your place of residence shortly to confiscate your wand.
As your offense has resulted in the death of a wizard, we regret to inform you that your presence is required at a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry of Magic at 9 A.M. on the fourteenth of July.
Hoping you are well,
Mafalda Hopkirk
Improper Use of Magic Office
Ministry of Magic
The day of the disciplinary hearing, Katie stood outside waiting patiently with Theodore. After spending a little more than a week at St. Mungo's, he had mostly recovered. The Doctors were doing their best to give him ongoing treatment for his psychological issues. They could not ensure that they would be a hundred percent successful, as the years of mind-altering magic had damaged his prefrontal cortex.
The trial was brutal. When they showed pictures of Katie's dead grandparents she broke down. Theodore was escorted into the room, testifying to what he saw that night. The prosecutor did their best to discredit Katie after she testified, claiming that her story was "convenient" and "a weak cover." Arguing that she didn't have a credible witness as Theodore was a felon.
Ultimately she was only given a warning, once it was found out that Mr. Bell had killed his wife, his fingerprints still all over the knife. Having not had the time to wipe it clean and stage the murder.
Weeks later her Grandparents will was announced; they had left the house and their fortune all to Katie. After a few days, she knew she needed to sell it. How could she live there, if every time Katie walked in the living room she heard the sound of her grandmothers throat being slashed open.
The only decision she had left to make was if she wanted to move to England to live with Theodore or stay in America. Katie wanted an opportunity to get to know him but was also scared because he was like a stranger to her, and he was still recovering his memories.
"Katie? Is that you?" She heard Theodore shout from his kitchen.
He was looking better, the stress no longer wearing his body down. "Capone flew in this morning, with a letter for you…" Katie squealed with excitement, breaking Theodore's train of thought. Smiling he directed her to a door just off from the kitchen. "Capone is in the guest room, well err… your room if you like it." He nervously added giving her a small tentative smile.
Entering the white walled room, she found a queen bed pushed into a corner, the rest of the room was bare besides a perch for her owl. Katie grabbed the letter quickly and began ripping it open.
Princess,
I'm sorry it took so long, but I'm back. I need to see you; hope you can make it. I'll be at the front entrance at 6am.

Inside the envelope was a ticket to the final Quidditch World Cup game, Ireland vs. Bulgaria. He wanted to see her. Elated she threw herself onto the bed.
When they finally reunited, Katie found herself crashing into him hard enough that anyone else may have been knocked back. They met in a rushed kiss; his warm hands clamped around her middle. For the briefest of moments, all their anxiety and tension faded away. In a flash they pulled apart, both catching their breath. "What was that for?" Marcus whispered in her ear, resting his hands on her hips.
"I was worried about you" She clutched the front of his sweater with one hand while lightly thumping his chest with the other. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." he said brushing back a loose strand of her hair, his callused fingers scraped against her cheek in the gentlest caress. The tenderness of it made her choke on another sob. "Why are you crying?" He asked, trying to push her back far enough to read her face.
"I'm crying because you're an asshole." She sniffled.
Marcus let out a roar of laughter that caught the attention of some people who were passing by. "I'm your asshole." He pulled away while flashing a grin and held out the palm of his hand waiting for her. After a moment she slid her fingers through his, interlacing almost perfectly. He tugged her forward and they began walking into the stadium.
While the match went on Katie told him all about her summer, mostly about what happened with her grandparents and the hearing with the Ministry of Magic. While Marcus told her about being accepted onto the Falmouth Falcons.
The match finally ended, Katie and Marcus made their way down the bleachers and towards the bathrooms. While she was rinsing her hands, she heard a memorable voice. "Katie Bell? Is that you?"
Katie looked up in the direction of the voice and noticed her friend Evelyn, a short girl with black hair that flowed over her shoulders in loose curls. Large, slightly up-tilted blue eyes, lush lips, strong cheekbones, and a petite nose combined to create an astounding beauty. "Evelyn!" Katie squealed doing her best to wipe her wet hands on her pants before throwing them around her friend in a tight squeeze.
"I haven't heard from you in forever! Has Hogwarts been making you too good for your old friends?" Evelyn teased.
"Of course not, life's been… well crazy you could say." Katie struggled to explain.
Evelyn cocked her head, her hair shimmering like black silk "I want to hear all about it, but I need to get going. You better owl me tonight and give me some updates. My address hasn't changed Ms. Bell" Evelyn winked at her before hugging her one more time and departing.
As Katie was exiting the bathroom, a massive boom trembled the earth, people began shrieking with horror. A stampede of panicked fans swarmed Katie, shoving her just to reach the exit.
The darkening sky shone red as fires broke out among the tents. That's when she noticed Marcus, Katie ran to him catching his attention when she was a few feet away. He picked her up pulling her tightly to his body "We need to get out of here." He bellowed over the screams, just before they both disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
