It had been three days since I woke up in the infirmary of the X-mansion. It was decided that I'd be working with the team on exercises in the afternoon and with Logun in the mornings with an hour alone with Professor Xavier before lights out. Sundays would be days off to do with what everyone would. And today was the day I'd be starting out at school. I wasn't looking forward to it at all. Currently I was sitting in the shadows looking through a pair of binoculars and watching Logun and Ororo doing patrols in the warehouse district. We were currently in a danger room simulation. And it continued to go as it was right now, then I would be sure that I was in the episode that rogue joined the X-teens.

"Target's schedule is consistent at 30 second intervals." I said into a headset. "You are a go for interception over."

"Roger." Scott confirmed shortly. "Mission start. Over and out."

I watched in anticipation as Scott dropped from the edge of the roof beside Logun and came up with a knockout spray canister. Logun got a full spray right in the face and collapsed into a heap. I had to admit if the canister actually knocked the feral mutant out that it was probably the best knockout agent ever invented. And if it wasn't then he was a damned good actor. Either way I was on the lookout, so I had to keep watch. I switched the binoculars to Ororo just in time to see her go down to Kurt. I then scanned the perimeter as Kurt popped Scott to the roof. They went in and it was confirmed for me within a minute. The simulation was cut off and Xavier was explaining to Scott why he had Rogue as an enemy. I already knew the answer, as well as the likely outcome.

I merely headed for the shower. Getting clothes to change into. After washing up and getting ready I trudged my way towards Professor Xavier's van. I was honestly not looking forward to this. The drive to the school was quick enough, and I felt a sense of annoyance rising. When Logun parked the van and let Charles out, I exited sullenly beside him. He of course seemed to find my mood to be hilarious. The walk towards the principal's office had my nerves on edge and my eyebrow twitching. When we got there, I was ushered in under the watchful eye of Mystique. I tried to ignore the back and forth between Charles and Raven. It seemed that after he explained my knowledge of her true nature Mystique's body melted back to her real body. I looked at the blue skinned naked woman in front of me with wide eyes. Then I turned to Charles.

"I might leave your team for hers if I thought I'd actually learn to control my power without dying." I told him seriously.

Charles gave an amused chuckle, but Mystique merely arched an eyebrow and leveled an unimpressed stare. "Do you think that I'd really start something with a teenager?" she asked in an acidic tone.

"Not a teenager." I said with a sulky frown. "I'm thirty-one years old."

"Irrelevant." Mystique said negligently. "You are in the body of an, at best, Fifteen-year-old."

"Oh that's bullshit." I said sulkily. Charles smirked smugly. "Just wait till I can control my powers; I'll find a significant other."

"Significant other?" Raven asked with an arched eyebrow. "Why phrase it that way?"

"I'm gender fluid on top of being a switch." I told her matter of factly. "I don't care about the gender of my partner. I just want someone who wants me and can click with me."

Raven and Charles shared a look that had me frowning. "What?" I asked defensively.

Raven fielded this one. "It is just a bit unsettling to see a teenager speak so confidently about their sexuality."

"Especially if it is something other than norm." Charles added.

"Oh, great this is before the LGBTQ stood up and said we are here get used to it," I grumbled to myself. "Oh well not my problem. I'll be honest with you then. I'm here as a mediator between Charles' team and yours. I will not suffer from hormonal teens thinking they can bully the gay kid. So, if there are any issues, I'll bring them to you. But if nothing gets done, I WILL handle it myself."

"If you cause problems, I will be forced to expel you." Raven said firmly.

I just gave her an unimpressed look back. "If you actually enforce the no bullying policy then there will be no problems."

"And if things go, shall we say unaddressed?" she asked evenly.

I smirked at that. "Well considering that I want to get strong enough to fight Gods. To paraphrase Bruce Wayne, they're practice." Then I smiled with all the feral intent I was capable of. "I have The Goddamn Wolverine as a teacher. And when I learn all I can from Charles to control my powers, I'm going to go to other Universes and fight everything from peak human to Gods of Destruction."

"Dakota these are just children who are learning their place in the world." Charles said placatingly. "You may have the body of a teenager, but you have actually lived your life for over a decade as an adult."

I turned from Mystique to look at him. "Charles." I began calmly. "Teenagers are singularly the most hateful beings on the planet. All the Stress of growing up, the Hormone changes, the rapid body growth. And they don't seem to care who they hurt because they are selfish self-centered little pricks. You may not remember what that was like, But I'm not in my 50s. I will do my best to be the bigger person. I promise you that I won't attack someone for running their mouths. However, I will not stand for some stupid teenager to lay a hand on me. That is not negotiable. If you can't accept that then you're going to have to give up on this idea of me going to high school."

This seemed to bring him up short. I shot him a look that clearly showed just how little I wanted to be here. "So yeah Charles, I'm not going to put up with a bunch of bullshit. That is the price you pay for putting a grown man into a high school."

"I had hoped that with your adult perspective you would be a calming influence on the students." Charles said hesitantly.

I gave him a complete deadpanned look. "Charles, you have been in my mind. I'm an introvert. Unless they come to me for advice I'm probably not going to help."

"That is patently untrue." Charles said sternly. "I saw time and again when you went out of your way to help people around you."

"You're right I did." I told him flatly. "And I never got anything but more pain and drama in my life for my troubles."

"I think I like this one Charles." Raven said with a self-satisfied grin. "I don't think he will back your dream."

"I won't be much help with yours either." I told her with an eye roll. "There are much more important things than trying to take over the world."

"And you think that humans are going to allow mutants to live in peace?" she asked sarcastically.

"Not without mutants giving them a reason to care about the issue." I told her flatly. "Look a person can be smart. But people, as a whole, are just sheep listening to the loudest voice. I saw it happen firsthand at a BLM rally that took place in my hometown. People who I know for a fact weren't racist were screaming racial slurs and stupid rhetoric."

"BLM?" she asked with narrowed eyes. "What does that mean?"

"Black Lives Matter." I told her with a frown. "It is a political movement in my old home. It was a really sensitive topic that I'd rather not go into. But the point is, if you don't give them a reason why they should make the bigots shut up then the majority of people just won't care because it doesn't affect them and their lives. Make mutants something that are NEEDED by the common man, and you will win. You're not thinking things through. It isn't a physical fight. It is a fight for the hearts and minds of the people. If all you do is destroy, then everyone is going to hate you."

"You think we should, what become civil servants?!" Raven asked agitated. "Market mutants to be the biggest whores of humankind?!"

"Look," I said with a sigh. "I could give you examples all day long. If Pyro used his power to stop wildfires out in the Midwest. If Storm used her powers to bring rain to areas affected by drought. The X-men as a whole could be the best natural disaster relief workers to ever exist. Avalanche could stop earthquakes. The list goes on and on. But you're all so busy fight you can't look up to see the big picture." I threw my hands up in a huff. "I swear if it wasn't for getting to fight more people and learn more things in this universe, I'd leave as soon as I figured out my powers. Now I've said my piece. I believe I need a schedule and a guide."

Charles looked to be deep in thought, and Mystique looked like she was trying to find a counter argument. I gave her an expectant look; she huffed but handed over. She then reaches down on her desk and presses the intercom. "Serrina please show our new student to his first class." I nodded and left the room. Serrina turned out to be an older lady she seemed nice enough. She led me down a hallway to my first class. Alegbra 1 with Mr. Pierson. From there I followed a jock (he was wearing a letterman jacket) to World History with Ms. Lype. Next had me following rogue to Advanced Biology with Dr. McCoy. I tried to ignore my future knowledge there. Next was following jean to Spanish with Mr. Sanchez. Then I followed Jean to Lunch. From there I followed Evan to the gym. Then from there it was following a perky girl named Sarah to the English lit, classroom, lucky for me that was the last class of the day. As soon as I was able, I decided to leave. When the bell rang, I exited the class without looking back. It was a mile and a half between the school and Xavier's mansion. I planned to make the most of that space to unwind from the utter boredom of the hell I'd just endured. I made my way towards the city park and sat on the bank of the pond. The calming atmosphere was made more so when I pulled out a pack of cigarettes and took one out. The smoke burned my lungs pleasantly as I lit it up. I looked out over the pond as I inhaled the smoke. This was going to be a pain in my ass. Idly I wondered if Scott was ok out in the wilds with Rogue. It was chilly out with the snow on the ground, and I honestly was enjoying it. I had a small smile on my face thinking for a moment 'i wonder if mom's enjoying the snow?' Then it hit me like a runaway Freightliner. I'm never going to see my family again. My mind stalled at this. I could never see my family again. Even if I managed to find my way back to my old world, how would I explain to them that I'd been reincarnated. It would be too cruel to do to them. I'd never see my mom, or my siblings. My nieces and nephews wouldn't have me there to see them grow up. I could never see my best friend again... It felt like my body was going into shock. My nerves were electric, my muscles ached, and I felt hot tears leak down my face. My mind was a whirl of pain. I couldn't think about anything other than the need to be anywhere else. If I just had my car, I could just go and go and let the speed drain away my mood. I reached blindly for my headphones before grabbing my phone off my coffee table and connecting them with the blue tooth button. As soon as the music began to play in my ear, I covered my head with the hood of my jacket and cried along to the silence around me and the music in my ears.

I have no idea how long I sat there crying, but I felt a brush on my shoulder, I looked up to see Storm looking down at me. She had a look of sad understanding on her face. I just looked at her and huffed in discontent.

"Dakota are you alright?" She asked gently.

I laughed with ill humor. "It just hit me that I'll likely never see any of my family again." I told her with a strained smile.

"I am sorry." She said softly looking at me with more understanding. "I know how you feel in that regard."

It took me a moment to remember her background then I nodded despondently, yes, I imagined that she did understand how I was feeling. I nodded and got to my feet. I followed her to the Campus van, unlike the time it took me to get from the school to the park, it took all of two minutes. When we arrived at the mansion, I decided to forgo dinner. I really didn't want to deal with judgy or even sympathetic teenagers at the moment. So instead, I swung by the kitchen and grabbed a pair of apples before disappearing into my room. I set my phone and headphones on the dresser only to freeze in my tracks. These weren't the ones I got after coming to this world. These were my android and my skullcandy headphones from before.

I turned and exited the room before going to Charles' study hoping to catch him before dinner. I knocked on the door and waited to hear him saying 'come in.'

I opened the door and strode in with a smile on my face despite my earlier feelings. "I made it work!" I told him happily.

The surprised look on his face was priceless. "How did you do that?" He asked dumbfounded looking for signs of damage to my eyes and ears.

"I just reached for something that I knew was there and grabbed it." I told him excitedly. Then it was my turn to get thoughtful. Come to that, all I had done was focus on one thing specifically. My phone then my headphones.

"And do you believe this could work again?" He asked me seriously. This brought me up short. Could I? It was possible of course. But I just reached blindly for something that I already knew existed and exactly where it was at. Like I knew exactly where the weapon that the gamer gave me was. I closed my eyes and pictured the weapon in my mind. It had been a Golden bow. It was sitting on a desk under a large Nazi flag. That was the easy part. But what did I do to get it? I just grabbed my headphones, right? I just focused on the bow, reached out and wrapped my fingers around the grip and then opened my eyes. I was still standing in front of Professor Xavier, but I was holding out the replica holy weapon in my outstretched hand.

"I take it that is the weapon that you received from the 'gamer'?" Charles asked, looking at the weapon with serious scrutiny. "And you plan on using it? Even though this gamer is likely to be keeping track of you thanks to it?"

That made me laugh. "Charles they don't need to do anything to keep track of me. If they want to all they have to do is compete a quest and that's if they can't already play voyeur across the multiverse." I told him still chuckling.

His uncomfortable frown only made me laugh harder. "Charles the note said that they felt personally responsible. She likely accidently destroyed my home planet."

"And you don't think I should be worried about such beings?" He asked skeptically.

I grinned ruefully at him then spoke. "Charles there is literally nothing we could do against a fully realized gamer. Not one thing at all. So there is no reason to worry. It won't do any good."

This caused Charles to grimace in acceptance. He knew I was right after all. "Well it seems that you can at least collect things from the multiverse."

"True and that's my first step too getting to adventure throughout the multiverse." I said with a happy grin.
