Truth and Reconciliation
"Ma'am?" the male guard asked as he and his partner stood at the doorway of Saphron's house.
Saphron looked up at the pictures of Deadpool and Peter. She had made her decision. I'm doing this for you, Jaune. Don't let me down. Saphron took a deep breath and smiled, "Oh, them? No. Never seen these two a day in my life." she lied, "Perhaps the people who told you were mistaken." The two guards looked at each other and nodded before pushing their way into her home, "H-Hey, what do you think you're doing?" Saphron asked as the two guards and then an additional three guards that came out of a van on the street made their way into her home.
"Check the house." the female guard ordered as she twirled a finger in the air.
"It may have been a while since I've helped any form of authority," Maria started with a roll of her fake eyes, "but I'm fairly certain you jar heads still need to have a warrant to check a home."
"Probable cause." the female guard retorted, "These are wanted criminals and we have multiple sources stating that they have been in this home. Whether you like it or not, we're searching the home."
The group heard a knocking and they saw a guard pounding on the bathroom door that Deadpool entered, "We got a locked door here, possible target." the guard knocked again, "Open the door or I will be forced to kick it open!" he ordered.
"That's our uncle!" Ruby said quickly yelled out. The female guard looked at her skeptically and the young huntress laughed nervously, "Yeah, he had a little too much to drink last night and he's been stuck in there all morning."
"Sir, are you alright?" the guard asked as he knocked again. Deadpool, thinking quickly, began making noises like he was throwing up into the toilet and then constantly flushed to make it more realistic. "Ma'am?" the guard looked to the female guard with a confused expression. The female guard looked to him and then to Ruby and nodded. The guard nodded back before smacking the door, "Remember to drink some fluids, sir. You'll be dehydrated."
The guards continued to search the home, looking for anything that could lead to the whereabouts of Deadpool and Spider-Man. All the while Saphron could only stand with her arms crossed, her eye twitching as she watched her home be made a mess of. Guards came down the stairs after searching for some time, "Anything?" the female guard asked.
"Not a thing ma'am." a large guard replied, "House is clean."
"Was clean..." Saphron seethed through her teeth.
The female guard nodded and held her wrist to her mouth, "We're all done here." she said into a communicator, "Move out people. We need to get back to searching the city." the guard turned to Saphron and bowed slightly, "Ma'am. Sorry for the mess." Finally, the guards left the home and piled into a van and drove down the road.
Saphron huffed in annoyance and went to slam her door shut but it was stopped by Terra's foot, who seemed to be coming home on lunch break, "Ah, hold the door!" she chuckled. Terra walked through the door and saw everyone had an upset look on their faces, even Weiss was holding Adrian to try and get him to not cry. "What happened in here? Why the long faces?"
Saphron rushed to Terra and clutched her hands, "Terra it was awful. Soldiers came to our home and started rummaging through our rooms. They were looking for Peter and that mercenary!"
Terra frowned and brought Saphron for a quick hug, "Well...the worst is behind us. After all, you kicked out the kid and the mercenary is nowhere to be seen. So everything should be fine now." Terra looked at Saphron with a confused face as she bit her lip nervously and the teens were collectively inhaling through their teeth nervously. "Saph...kids...what are you hiding."
From the bathroom came Deadpool who was putting his gloves on after seemingly washing his hands, "Ah, and thus my theory continues to be proven correct. Gay couples have the cleanest bathrooms. And those sheep shaped soap bars, adorable!" he laughed.
Then Peter came in through the sliding glass door, wiping snow off his body as he walked in. Terra looked shocked, "Saph..." she said quietly. Saphron could only frown and look down in disappointment thinking she made a bad decision, she then felt a kiss on her cheek causing her to smile. "I'm glad you reconsidered." Terra looked up at Peter and smirked, "You and your friend are gonna have to get into some different clothes, whole city will be looking for you."
After some time, Terra was able to get some clothes that fit Deadpool rather well. A pair of sweatpants, a crop top jacket and a black undershirt that he was somehow able to fit over his suit. His weapons were put off to the side in a duffle bag that Terra used to use when she was consistently going to the gym. As for the mask issue, Deadpool had his mask off, but Saphron gave him a green beanie and a cloth face mask. Peter, thankfully, just had to wear his civilian outfit. Of course his face was now recognizable so he too received a cloth face mask that he'd wear if he was to leave the house.
Peter then spent the time explaining the situation so that everybody was on the same page. Some people...took the news worse than others. "ADAM'S HERE!?" Blake yelled out, frustration present in her voice.
"Unfortunately, yes." Peter nodded, "Blake he's...he's a lot different than the last time you saw him. Guy was crazy before, but now? I've heard the tone in his voice before from other people. The way he talks, how he fights. He's a man who only cares about revenge now. Reason left his body a long time ago." Blake could only bite the nail off her thumb, "It...gets worse. Adam is after you. And he's going to keep following us to get you alone. Actually, the whole reason the whole city knows who I am is because he told the military. He's trying to get me away from you, thinking he'll have a better chance."
"Divide and Conquer." Deadpool mumbled.
"Why doesn't the coward attack us directly?" Yang asked, the venom present in her voice as she clutched her arm.
"Adam's crazy, but he isn't stupid." Peter replied, "Guy won't start a fight if he thinks he may lose. He got his ass kicked pretty hard just fighting me alone. But several huntsman? That isn't worth it, even for him."
Yang rolled her shoulders before crossing her arms, "Then what are we supposed to do?"
"If I know the way Peter thinks about things," Ren started, "and I feel I'm only getting better at predicting his ideas, I think he's saying we should stay in groups."
"Right, if you go out, especially if it's Blake, have at least one other person with you." Peter finished. The teens continued to sit and take in the information they've been told.
Jaune, Ren and Nora stood up, "Why don't we make some lunch, so we can...relax." Jaune said with a nervous chuckle.
Deadpool walked up behind Peter and patted his shoulder. Peter looked up in surprise and Deadpool nodded his head to the back door. Peter followed Deadpool outside where they stood on the small concrete patio as Deadpool pulled out a small scrunched and ripped carton of Marlboro cigarettes, "You smoke?"
Peter cocked his head back in surprise, "What? No! D-Do you?"
"Eh, sometimes." Deadpool pulled out a bent and slightly scrunched cigarette and lit it with a small lighter that he had in his pocket. "There was something else you wanted to tell me...right?"
"Yeah, uh, hey before we start. Those are Marlboros." Peter pointed out, "We've been here for a year and a half. Have you just been carrying around a pack of cigarettes this whole time?"
Deadpool shook his head as he exhaled the smoke from his lungs, "Nah, I've had this pack for like six years."
Peter squinted his eyes as he became even more confused, "Why--? How--? You know what, nevermind." Peter frantically scratched his head, the question eating away at him, "SIX YEARS? How do you have a pack of cigarettes for six years?"
Deadpool shrugged, "I smoke once, maybe twice a year. If that." Numerous amounts of questions aside, Peter decided to go ahead and tell Deadpool what was going on. About Salem, about Ozpin, everything.
Back inside JNR had just finished making sandwiches for everyone. "Where's Peter at?" Jaune asked.
"Owshide." Ruby replied with her mouth full of food.
"Gross, don't talk with your mouth full." Weiss said with a disgusted look on her face.
Jaune looked out the sliding glass door and saw both Deadpool and Peter. He went ahead and grabbed two sandwiches and made his way to the door. He opened the door and heard just the tail end of Peter and Deadpool's conversation, "...so what you're saying is that fighting Salem is suicide? That it's impossible for her to die?" Deadpool asked, "Guess we have something in common." The two wanted men quickly turned their heads towards Jaune as they heard what sounded like glass shattering. On the ground was a plate and two sandwiches with Jaune standing above it.
"What?" Jaune asked, an angered expression beginning to form, "What do you mean? That's just some sick joke right? Typical Deadpool stuff, right? Right!?" Peter and Deadpool looked at each other, both silent. Jaune gritted his teeth in anger before he punched the wall leading the others to come towards the commotion.
With Jaune now hearing everything it seemed best to Peter if everybody heard the truth. Everyone went inside and sat down where Peter and Ruby explained what they saw and heard from Jinn. "So what you are saying is that everything we've done is for nothing." Jaune seethed.
"T-That's not true." Blake said, though she sounded more like she was trying to convince herself and not Jaune.
Nora slumped her shoulders and scoffed, "Really? Because it sure does sound like it." Blake wanted to say something, anything that could convince them that everything would be fine...but in truth she still wasn't sure if she believed that herself.
Ren sighed as he leaned against the staircase, "If Salem can't be killed, then how are we supposed to win this?"
The room fell silent, nobody knew how to respond. Even Peter hadn't completely thought that out yet. We'd have to prove that mankind is worthy but...they really aren't. "Wow." Jaune finally said to break the silence, "Great plan everyone." his sarcastic tone wasn't lost on anyone.
"Not like you said anything either you little smartass, don't pin this all on us." Deadpool said with an aggressive tone.
Oscar gulped slightly, "Look, none of this is great. I know. But we aren't the bad guys here." Oscar tried his best to be the peace maker, but as he would quickly find out, that wouldn't come easy.
"Are we sure about that?" Jaune asked quietly, his back turned from Oscar. Jaune then turned to Oscar with a menacing expression on his face, "He's in your head right? Have you known about this the whole time?" Jaune became more and more hostile until he finally walked up to Oscar, gripped him by his collar and slammed him against the wall.
"Jaune, stop!" Weiss pleaded, "He doesn't know anything!"
"How do you know?" Jaune asked as he slammed Oscar against the wall, "What if he's not in control, what if we've been taking to the liar this whole time!?"
"Jaune relax!" Yang yelled out.
Peter went to move but to his surprise, and everyone else's, it was Deadpool who moved quickly his right hand mysteriously hidden in his sleeve. When Deadpool reached Jaune he grabbed him by the back of the head and slammed his face against the wall causing the blonde to let go of the young farmhand. Deadpool continued to grip the back of Jaune's head as he slipped his arm through his sleeve revealing a small pistol that he concealed and pointed it under Jaune's chin while he got close to his ear.
Peter could only slide his hands down his face and groan before he began banging his head against the wall. Is it worse that we know he won't hurt Jaune? Ero asked. I know Wade is making a point, but come on! Peter thought.
Deadpool leaned close to Jaune's ear so that he could whisper. "So, you think you're a big man, huh?" Deadpool said as he pushed his gun deeper into the underside of Jaune's chin, "Think that because you got kissed and lost someone close to that makes you a more tragic character than everybody else here? Well I have a news flash for you, it doesn't. This kid lost the rest of his life because some old fart is trying to take over his soul. The whole world is at risk because of some witch who's been PMSing for the last couple hundred years." Jaune couldn't reply, he could only grunt in pain, "I get you're angry, believe me, I do. But if you hurt this kid I won't be afraid to hurt you. And you know I'm not lying. I've killed so many people at this point I've lost count. But you know what? Despite all that...I don't hurt kids you jackass." Deadpool let go of Jaune and the teen frowned when he realized he may have taken things too far. Jaune looked up and gasped as Deadpool pointed his gun at Jaune's face. Deadpool pulled the trigger and clicked signaling that it was out of ammo, "What, you think I'd actually have it loaded?" Deadpool chuckled.
Jaune took a couple deep breaths coming to terms with what happened and he walked upstairs, a door could be heard closing behind him. The other teens sat still, Ren and Nora still trying to provess everything much like their leader. "Will he be alright?" Yang asked.
Nora threw her hands in the air, "Who knows!" she too began to walk upstairs to comfort her leader.
"I think we just need some time to ourselves." Ren stated as he soon followed Nora.
RWBY stood silent as they came to turns with the emotions their friends were feeling. Peter looked to Deadpool with a frustrated expression and the mercenary only shrugged, "Hey, relax, kid." Deadpool said as he pat Oscar on his shoulder, "Nobody here actually blames you." Deadpool looked back at the teens, "Try to relax yourselves. Get some air if you need to."
Ruby sighed and she opened up her scroll to try and contact Qrow, perhaps he could help them with their situation. She walked out the back door and onto the patio as her the line rang but ultimately she gained no answer. Ruby growled in annoyance as she looked at the picture of Qrow on her scroll with "No Answer" above his head. "GYAA! Where. Are. You!" Ruby yelled in frustration as she tossed her scroll across the grass.
"You know, I came out here to avoid the yelling." Ruby looked up with a saddened face to see Maria sitting on a rocking chair in the grass.
"I'm sorry." Ruby said quietly, "I think Yang, Weiss and Blake went with Saphron to get food for tonight."
Maria rocked slowly back and forth in her chair, "Why didn't you want to go with them?"
Ruby sighed and shook her head, "I don't know." she sat down on the patio and dug her face into her hands, "I don't know anything. I mean, what do I tell Jaune and his team when we don't even have a plan?" Maria began rubbing her chin in thought, "Qrow's out drinking, Ozpin hasn't come back, Deadpool just walked out the front door." she sighed again, "I guess there's always Jinn, but we only have one question we can ask her. It just...It just feels like I'm letting everyone down." Ruby said as she began to tightly grip her cape.
Maria took a deep breath and nodded, "You know, you don't give yourself enough credit."
Ruby chuckled, "Oh, thanks."
"That wasn't a compliment." Maria replied coldly. Ruby looked at Maria with a confused expression which caused the old huntress to sigh, "If I have to explain it to you then that defeats the purpose. But if you're tired of not knowing anything, how about we discuss those eyes of yours?" Maria emphasized her point by tapping her fake eyes.
Ruby straightened up in surprise, "Oh, yes ma'am! I would be honored." In her excitement Ruby hadn't realized that she jumped to her feet.
"Sit back down." Maria ordered, "Pete's sake." she mumbled. Ruby smiled and she sat on the ground causing Maria to roll her fake eyes, "Let's start with what you do know, hm?"
"Um...I know that people with Silver Eyes are supposed to be legendary warriors. I know that there is almost no information on them annnnnd during The Fall of Beacon I kinda turned a giant wyvern into stone?" Ruby chuckled.
Maria groaned, "This may take a while."
Inside the house Peter tried to find something, anything, to keep him from succumbing to boredom. "Books, books, books. That's all I really see. No comics, no graphic novels just different regular novels like," Peter pulled a random book from the bookshelf and read the cover, "'Heat of Passion: A Forbidden Love Story Between a Faunus and a Human'? Okay, first of all, barf. Second of all, how outdated is this book?" Peter set the book back and groaned. He then looked on the small coffee table and saw Adrian's crayons and a few pieces of paper. "Maybe I should try to take up drawing again?" he asked as he picked up a crayon, "Nah, that's lame. Plus drawing hands is hard." Peter picked up the remote for the holoscreen and flopped on the couch, "I guess I'll just watch tv...not like anything will be on anyway."
Peter seemed to lose track of time as he watched tv and the brain dead comedy shows that were running. He heard the door opening to see the girls all return with groceries in hand as well as Saphron. "Hey gals, welcome back. You need help?" Peter asked.
"We're fine." Weiss called out.
Blake poked her head out from the kitchen and looked around the room with a confused expression, "Peter?"
"Yeah?"
"Where's Oscar?" Blake asked as she walked out into the room and folded her arms.
Peter looked around and shrugged, "Was he not with you? I saw him walk out the door like a minute after you guys left, then Deadpool left a little bit after that."
Blake rubbed her temples, "Oh my gods."
Now Yang popped her head out from the kitchen as Peter quickly got off the couch, "What's wrong?"
"Oscar is missing." Blake replied, "Peter go get Jaune and the others. Yang get Ruby." the two nodded and went the way they were told.
"RUBY!" Yang called as she poked her head outside, "Come quick." Ruby quickly stood up from the grass and walked inside along with Maria.
"What's going on?" Jaune asked as he, his team and Peter gathered with the others.
"Oscar's missing." Blake, Peter and Yang said in unison. Jaune frowned and clenched his teeth, the thought that he was probably the reason Oscar left ate away at him.
Peter smacked Jaune on the shoulder, "Hey, chin up. Now's not the time for guilt. We have to get out there and find the kid. All of us."
"What about you?" Ren asked, "It's extremely dangerous for you to leave the house...irresponsible even."
Peter shrugged, "Yeah, but--"
"Yeah, but nothing." Weiss stated, "If you leave the house either you get in trouble or the military comes knocking back here looking for you." Weiss folded her arms, "I think it's best, for everyone, that you stay here and we search for Oscar. Besides, what if he comes back? I'm sure he'll be happy to see you of all people first."
"Why?" Peter asked.
"In the short time I've talked to Oscar he seems to really look up to you Peter." Ren explained, "If he were to come back before we find him, surely he'd be more at ease with you." Peter nodded in response and the group got set to head out and search for Oscar.
Jaune, Nora, Ren and Saphron formed a group and patrolled the city. Already it had gotten late and the sun was going down. The group had ended up walking to the other side of town searching for the boy. "Oscar!" Nora yelled out. She slumped her shoulders and held her throat, already she was getting tired of calling out to the boy for so long.
"This city is huge, he could've gone anywhere." Ren noted which only made Jaune slump his shoulders more.
"Ah, geez." Jaune groaned, "This is all my fault. I way overreacted."
Saphron scratched the back of her head, "I still don't understand what happened. Was it about the mission?"
The teens tried to avoid eye contact as they continued walking, "It's...kinda hard to talk about." Nora stated.
"I know, I know, 'Top Secret'." Saphron replied with a wave of her hands, "But like, did he do something wrong?"
Jaune seemed to sink his head even farther as he walked, the guilt weighing down harder on his shoulders. "No, he didn't. We just...we just got some new information and realized that this is going to be A LOT harder than we thought."
Saphron nodded as the crew continued down the street and began passing a history museum. On the gate was a quote by the first mayor that resided in office when Argus was first established. Saphron continued to glance to her right and quoted the quote word for word because of how relevant it seemed, "If it were easy, it wouldn't be important. Right?"
Ren nodded, "I think we are just a bit unsure on what to do next. Also I saw that you got that off the plaque, I read it as we past by too."
Saphron blushed in embarrassment as she realized she had been caught red handed. "Well," she began again, clearing her throat, "you could always stay in Mistral, get your licenses at Haven and come back to Argus." she suggested with a hopeful look in her eyes, "There's a lot of good you can do here. Besides, in light of recent events, we could use some huntsman over military soldiers to help out." The three teens looked at each other and they all had the same look of uncertainty, "I know your mission is important to you. But it's not like you're the only ones who can do it. What I mean, is that there are other missions that need doing."
Jaune shook his head, "Sorry sis, but it isn't that simple. Especially now with Peter being wanted."
Jaune's words made Saphron stop in her tracks, "Ah, well...I should go pick up Adrian from Daycare. And I'll tell Terr what happened too. Though, I'm sure Peter's already explained the situation." she looked up at Jaune and smiled, "Good luck."
The trio stood in silence, pedestrians walking past them going about their day. Nora and Ren looked at each other and then to Jaune, "Hey, there's a small café just over there," Nora pointed down the road, "maybe we should warm ourselves up?"
"You guys go on ahead," Jaune sighed, "I'm good." Jaune walked over to a bench and took a seat so he could be with his thoughts. Ren and Nora looked at each other and nodded, deciding to leave Jaune on his own. Dammit. Jaune thought as he scratched his head, Why...why does it never get any easier? While Jaune had his head looking towards the ground he saw a red leaf land in front of him. The wind began to lift the leaf up and carry it into the nearby park. Jaune looked up only briefly, but when he did he saw a slight glimmer. What is that? Jaune stood up and walked across the street to the park. He past by flower covered pergolas and made it to the center of the Parker where their stood a fifteen foot tall statue of Pyrrha. Oh, yeah sure, thanks world. Wanna kick me a little harder while you're at it?
Jaune slowly approached the statue and looked down to the plaque that accompanied it. He crouched down and wiped the snow off the plaque and read it, "In honor of Pyrrha Nikos. One of the many students that fought valiantly at The Fall of Beacon." Jaune felt a tear forming in his eye and he quickly wiped it away, Dammit.
Jaune got up to leave when he heard the footsteps of someone else approaching, but stopped when she said something that practically called out to him. "It's beautiful isn't it?" the woman asked.
"Uh, yeah." Jaune said quickly replied, "W-Why here?"
"She trained here," the woman replied, "at Sanctum. Everyone was devastated when she chose Beacon over Haven but...that's where she wanted to be." the woman smiled as she clutched the flowers in her hands tighter. As Jaune looked at her he realized she had short red hair, emerald green eyes and wore rectangle framed glasses. She also wore a brown parka.
Jaune looked down in disappointment, "She should have been here."
"She is." the woman replied, "She knew that the only choice in that situation was...there was no choice. She did what she thought was best. She knew she had to try because that's what a huntress would do. And if Pyrrha wanted to be anything, it was a huntress."
Jaune nodded, "Pyrrha never graduated, but she was a huntress through and through. She was the ideal of what us students should strive for. Someone who put the lives of others before her own. Someone who never gave up."
The woman wiped some tears that formed in her eyes, "Thank you."
"JAUNE!" Jaune turned to the entrance of the park to see Ren and Nora searching for him. He turned back to the woman but it seems she had already left, leaving her flowers at the statue. "Jaune, what are you doing? Why'd you--Oh gods..." Nora was speechless as she and Ren stared at the statue with Jaune.
"I'm sorry." Jaune said with a sad tone. "I've been a terrible leader, and a terrible friend and--"
"Jaune, this has to stop." Ren interrupted.
Nora gave Jaune a sad expression, "We heard what you said to Cinder at Haven. You're not being fair to yourself, we love you just like we love Pyrrha!" Nora said with a shake of her head for emphasis. "We're teammates, family."
Ren shook his head, "We don't want to lose you too."
Jaune turned away from his friends and back to the Pyrrha statue and nodded in understanding, "I think...I think she knew she was going to lose. That she wouldn't come out alive." he explained, "But, she also knew she was the only one who could try."
Getting at what Jaune was trying to say, Ren nodded, "So she did."
"So...maybe we should too?" Nora suggested. "Pyrrha may not be by our side anymore, but we can fight like she is." Nora finished with a determined smile. Jaune nodded in agreement and Nora handed him his favorite, White Hot Chocolate, knowing he's want something in the end.
"C'mon, let's check back with the house. Maybe Oscar came back." Ren suggested, "If not we can try again in a few hours."
As the group started to leave, Jaune stopped and looked back one last time at the statue, "Thank you. Even now you're still pushing us forward."
Ruby stood with a disappointed expression as she, WBY, Maria and civilian Wade stood staring at the unconscious form of Qrow who was passed out drunk on the stairs of Saphron's home. "So you brought him home yourself?" Ruby asked Wade.
"Yeah, dude was hella sloshed by the time I got there." Wade explained, "I tried picking his wallet, but the cash was already gone."
Yang shook her head, "This is bad. Like, worse than its ever been." Yang and Ruby both looked at each other as they tried to get Qrow to his feet.
"Ugh, wha--" Qrow groaned and he broke himself out of his nieces grasp, "What the hell is going on?" he rubbed his back as he felt a soreness, "Why am I asleep on the stairs?"
Ruby held her hands to her hips and stomped in frustration, "Maybe because nobody is home, and like hell Peter would let you inside after what you did." Ruby puffed out her cheeks in anger, "We were out looking for Oscar.
"Oscar?" Qrow asked causing Ruby to roll her eyes. Hearing footsteps the group turned to see JNR, Saphron, and Terra with Adrian in her arms approach the house.
Terra groaned in embarrassment, "I'm sure this looks great to the neighbors." she mumbled, receiving a jab in her side from Saphron.
"We're harboring fugitives, now's not the time to be worried about the drunk." Saphron whispered.
"No luck?" Jaune asked as he, Ren and Nora approached the group. Blake shook her head and he clicked his tongue, "Well, don't worry. We aren't going to Atlas without him."
Ruby, as she was helping Qrow to his feet, "We?" she asked with a hopeful expression.
JNR looked to everyone and smiled as they each gave a nod. Jaune then turned to his sister with an apologetic expression, "Sorry we won't be staying."
Saphron rolled her eyes and smirked, "No you aren't."
Jaune let out a laugh and clicked his tongue, "No, I'm not."
It was at that moment that the door to Saphron's home opened and there standing in the doorway waiting to greet everyone was Oscar, now adorned in new clothing. "Oh, we were wondering when you'd get back." Oscar chuckled. The group looked at him and saw that he had new clothes adorned. He now wore orange boots, brown pants, a orange belt, a white button up with a green jacket over it and orange gloves.
"OSCAR!" the teens shouted as they all quickly dashed through the door and dog piled the poor child.
Inside Peter sat eating chips and wiping tears from his face with a tissue as he watched some Soap Opera that he found. He didn't really seem to understand a lot of it, but he got the gist. "Oh, hey guys." he greeted as he quickly tossed the box of tissues across the house so it didn't seem like he was actually tearing up while watching a Soap. "Hey, I found Oscar. AND I didn't leave the house. Did I do good? Are ya' gonna praise me for being a good boy?"
Weiss stood up and looked at Peter with a disgusted look on her face, "What, is that like, your kink or something? Gross."
"No!" Peter became pale and he clutched his head in embarrassment, "Man, why'd you have to make my bit weird?"
After the celebration that Oscar was found the adults walked in and it was Terra who noticed that something was off, "Wait...is something cooking?" she asked as she smelled something good coming from her kitchen.
Oscar rubbed tha back of his head, "Y-Yeah, I figured you'd all want something to eat after...apparently spending all day looking for me." he chuckled.
Jaune stepped forward, "It's my fault we were out there in the first place we thought you..." he stopped mid sentence when a thought came to him, "Wait a minute...dinner is almost done. You've been here awhile." Oscar nodded, "If you were here then...PETER! Why didn't you call us?"
"What if the scrolls get wire tapped?" Peter defended, "You guys said not to bring the military to us, so I didn't bring the military to us."
Deadpool chuckled, "You guys were looking for Oscar? I ran into the guy like ten times when I was in town. Hell, I'm the one who bought his clothes."
Oscar laughed a little bit before straightening himself up, "It's okay, Jaune. I get what you mean." he nodded, "These last few days I've been scared like everyone else. And, after thinking it over a bit, I realized that despite how impossible things may be, I still want to help out as much as I can...with whatever time I have left."
Jaune smiled and nodded, "Good, we wouldn't be the same without you." Jaune then turned to Deadpool and nodded, "And thank you, Wade. You're kinda harsh but...well, I was kinda being a dick about it."
Qrow began pushing past the teens and began trudging up the stairs, stumbling on the first step as he did so. "Celebrate all you want. But in case you all forgot we aren't a single step closer to Atlas."
"No, but with the way you've been going to the bars it sounds like we're just down the road from an AA Clinic. HEYYO!" Peter quipped as Deadpool ran up and gave him a high five for the roast.
Jaune, trying not to laugh, got the attention of the group by clearing his throat. "Actually, I think I have an idea." the teens and Qrow all looked at Jaune with curious expression...well, Qrow was more annoyed than curious, but that's beside the point. "But...it's sort of a No-Going-Back kind of idea." Jaune said nervously.
Peter clapped his hands together and laughed, "Jaune, the military knows my face and name. Both me and Wade are fugitives, and your sister and sis-in-law are harboring us in their home. Trust me, we are WAAAAY past No-Going-Back."
Jaune nodded in understanding, "With Cordo on watch only Atlas airships have the clearance to leave for Solitas." he explained, "We've already tried bribing our way...that failed. We tried voyaging our way by sea. That failed. So...by process of elimination, desperate measures are needed...um..." Jaune gulped and clapped his hands together as he tried to put on a convincing smile, "So, who wants to steal an airship?"
The room was silent for some time before Weiss spoke up, "That isn't just breaking the law that's...that's definitely worse."
"How would we even get onto the airfield?" Yang asked.
Deadpool shrugged, "I mean, I got a couple pounds of C4, I could probably make a distraction and steal the airship myself."
"Denied!" Peter replied making an 'X' with his arms.
Jaune frowned, "Well, I haven't quite figured that part out yet."
"Stop right there!" Qrow yelled out, "Just...stop. If this thing goes south it's not something we can fight our way out of." Debatable. "This is the Atlas Military we're talking about not some...hodunk mercenaries, losers in tights, or some two-bit criminal with a cane. These are real stakes." Qrow sighed, "Please, for your sakes...just end it here."
The teens seem disparaged, Ruby looked around the room and already she could see Deadpool and Peter talking as if they would build off the plan themselves if nobody else would. "I want to hear him out." Peter fist pumped and Deadpool slapped Twenty Lien in his hand. "Look, Qrow, I know you're just trying to protect us. That you're afraid we can't do it, but right now I don't really care what you think!" she yelled, a slight laugh coming out as she thought back on the past few days and just how much a pain in the ass Qrow has been. "Ever since we found out what was happening, what was really happening, you've been nothing but unsupportive and, frankly, you've just been a massive prick!" the teens gasped at Ruby's language, "You do nothing but go to the bar, you didn't bother to help us look for transportation, you didn't contribute to helping us loom for Oscar, and you had Peter kicked out of the house of some stupid rivalry you made with him for no reason!" she squinted her eyes and frowned, "Just because you have no idea what to do doesn't mean we're out of options. Oz hasn't been here to tell us what to do, but we've made it this far anyways. We've been in bad situations before and we didn't an adult to tell us what to do or save us, we just did it our way!" she smiled and looked at her friends, "And I say we keep doing it our way."
Peter let out a few claps as he stood up, "Yes! I love it when you girls get feisty." he laughed.
Ruby smirked and looked to Qrow again, "Now, if you want to help, if you want to try. Then we'll gladly take you with us."
Qrow looked at the teens and then to Peter who gave him a big grin. Qrow sighed and massaged his temples, "I'm going to regret this, I know I will."
To be continued...
A/N: Ah, the end of the chapter. Here we see the author try to think of something, anything meaningful to say.
Okay, so this is a big exposition chapter, really, but I do like the premise that the show set up. Like, Jaune and the rest of JNR only helped because it was feasible and it was partially to not have Pyrrha's death be in vain. However he has this moment of clarity when he sees the Pyrrha memorial and it's actually really sweet and well executed, actually it may be the best written scene in the whole volume, ngl. When Miles and Kerry do well they do well and I will give them props for that.
But let's talk about what some people will see as a controversial scene. The Deadpool is a fucking asshole and of course he'd do this, scene. Like, if people are surprised at this scene I won't know what to say. I've constantly had Deadpool do less than reputable shit, the dude is a loose cannon and he does what he thinks will get results. Overall, he's just trying to make a point that even he, a murderous dickhead, didn't hurt kids and Jaune should feel bad for getting aggressive with (what we know as) a 14 and/or 15 year old.
Anyways, I don't have much to say after that. Follow, Favorite and Review and PM for questions, see you next chapter.
