Gonna make a quick update to this chapter: I have to deadass write two 8-page papers for college so I am likely going to be MIA until like April 23. So probably no quick update like this one.
Get The Hell Outta Dodge
Music Queue: Guerrilla Radio -- Rage Against The Machine
Jaune, with the help of Peter and Wade, laid out a large piece of poster paper on the coffee table and began to draw out their plan. Using small models like a pair of dice some paper clips and grass that they pulled from the backyard the group was able to sort of...visualize what would be happening. "Okay, the dice here represent the base." Jaune began, "The paperclips is the airships and the grass here is the cliffside that we'll rendezvous at." the group nodded, "Great, so what we'll have to do is sneak somebody into the gates so that they can get on a transport and commandeer it." Deadpool picked up the paper clip and made airplane sounds as he moved it towards the grass, "Then, once they have control, they'll come over to the cliff side and meet us at the extraction zone."
"Oh yeah, fool proof plan." Qrow said with a roll of his eyes, "Except you forgot the part where they'll have easy communication and notice that the stolen vehicle is veering off course."
"Then we take out the radar box." Blake suggested as she grabbed an eraser and stuck a pencil in it so the pencil would stand up, "The radar box should be in the same vicinity of the communications antenna which, lucky for us, is just outside of town in the forrest. Not too far from the EZ." she smiled. "Shutting that down will get rid of the radar for the base, and like Terra said before, the equipment has been on the fritz lately, they won't suspect a thing."
"Yeah, I like this undetected idea." Peter laughed.
"That's great. Blake, since you seem to know what you're doing, you should be the one to take it down." Jaune said with a nod as he wrote down Blake's name by the 'antenna'.
"But take someone with you." Peter suggested, "Take me."
"Actually Peter, I'll need you for something else." Jaune replied with a saddened expression, "All of us, who already look shady to the military right now, just walking off into the forest. Somebody is going to notice, and we'll need them distracted." Peter slumped his shoulders and he could guess what Jaune was going to say, "I'm sorry, but we'll need everybody off us. And if half the military is focused looking for you in the city we have a better chance."
Peter held his hands against his mouth and he began to nervously shake his legs up in down while in thought. If I'm not there for Blake then she's in danger. But if I can't help my friends they are all screwed. Peter, you heard Adam. Ero reminded, You can't be by her side forever. Have faith in your friends. Have faith in her. You aren't the only one who has gotten stronger you know. Peter stopped shaking his legs and let out a deep breath, "Okay. I'll run rabbit. But Blake still needs someone to go with her."
Blake's eyes seemed to light up and her ears twitched slightly, "I'll take Yang with me." she suggested, "She has the bike, so she's the fastest choice."
"Hell yeah!" Yang cheered with a fist pump, "Let's break some expensive equipment."
Jaune smiled now that his plan seemed to form more and more, "Peter can meet back with us after a couple of minutes, be sure to lose the military first though, huh?" Peter playfully flipped Jaune off leading the teens to laugh. "I think...I think that's our plan."
"Um, not quite." Weiss scoffed, "I think you skipped over an important detail." the teens looked at her with confused expressions leading her eyes to twitch in frustration, "How the hell are we supposed to 'sneak in'?" she asked while making her voice deeper to imitate Jaune, "Do you have any idea how vague that sounds? Who's gonna sneak in? I mean, it's not like any of us can just...walk through the front door!" Jaune and Peter looked at each other and the two smirked, "What? Why are you making that face?"
The Next Day...
Me and my big mouth. Weiss thought with a mental groan as she walked through the front gates of the Argus Military Base with Saphron and Adrian escorting her. Cordovan was nice enough to let Saprhon through "To see me off" as Weiss had put it. To Weiss' chagrin she was being escorted by more than just Saphron as the Dumb and Dumber guards followed them. VERY closely. Even worse, Cordovan was the main escort and she didn't shut up. Oh gods, please stop talking. Your voice sounds like razor blades on a chalkboard. "I was relieved to hear that you came to your senses Miss Schnee." Cordovan stated, "At least that's one piece of good news I've heard today." she said through her teeth. Hopefully that means Peter has already started his part.
Meanwhile...
"Man, imagine being a military unit and not being able to fire your guns!" Peter laughed as he ran across rooftops and gunked up the guns of the soldiers who tried shooting at him. "Oh look at me, just a wittle spider waiting to get stomped on by a giant boot!" he laughed as he shot a webline and took off into the air, "If you guys need me I'm gonna be heading to the other side of the city!"
"Get us back up in the East end if the city!" a guard yelled as he ran after Peter, "We'll flank him and capture that way!"
The Base...
"Many of us were devastated when we heard that you would be attending...Beacon Academy." Cordovan continued, sounding almost like she was going to throw up from saying it. Weiss looked around the airfield and took note of how many Bullheads there were. Awful lot of airships for so little flight activity. "Knowing you'll be returning just warms my old heart." Cordovan smiled and let out a breath.
Weiss rolled her eyes, "It was time to get my act together and go back to my roots." she replied.
Cordovan waved her body back and forth with a smile, "Oh I can't wait to follow in your sister's footsteps."
"Ab-so-lute-ly." Weiss said through her teeth as she turned away from the small Officer so she didn't see the ex-heiress repeatedly punch her palm in frustration.
"I'm sending two of my best guards to escort you." Cordovan said proudly before leaning closer to Weiss and nudging her a hew times, "Make sure General Ironwood hears that part." Cordovan turned on her heel and left her guards to do the rest of the work.
The guard on the right, Dumb, hurried over to Weiss and began lifting her large suitcase, "Allow me to assist you with your bag!" he exclaimed before lifting the back half up while Weiss held the handle at the front, "Oh, your bag is heavy!"
"No, it's quite fine." Weiss protested.
"Nonsense," the left guard, Dumber, said as he too rushed over, "Here, allow me to assist as well."
Weiss looked back to Saphron and nodded. Saphron did the same and looked at Adrian, "Alright, just like we practiced." In that moment Adrian let out a monsterous wail and began crying, "Oh no!" Saphron said in...an admittedly not very believable sounding voice, "He's so rowdy, I guess he's just going to really miss you. You should leave here quickly." The guards left Weiss' side to assist with the crying Adrian and Weiss was able to quickly board the airship.
Weiss let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding in as she set down her suit case, "That was close." she mumbled.
"Is everything okay?" Ruby asked over a communicator.
"Call me heavy." the bag said as it shook back and forth. The bag, of course, was Maria. "It's all muscle, I'll show you a thing or two about heavy!"
Weiss rolled her eyes and pressed her fingers against her ear, "We're in."
With the group...
Ruby nodded as Weiss gave the confirmation that she made it on board the airship, "Alright." she turned to JNR, Oscar, Qrow and Deadpool (now back in costume) as they awaited the next orders, "We'll all watch our scrolls. The moment that Weiss is out of range of the Comm Tower, that'll mean she's out of range of the radar too."
"And that's when Blake and I step in." Yang added over the comms. "We're almost at the drop off."
"Can we hurry this up? I'm getting bored of running away from the military. I'd like to actually disappear sooner rather than later." Peter whined.
"Oh cry me a river, you have the easiest job!" Weiss yelled over the radio.
"Weiss, what have we said about yelling on comms?" Peter teased, "Your mic peaks super hard and it sounds like a webcam mic."
With Yang...
Yang rolled her eyes and immediately muted Peter and Weiss' argument as she drove through the forest on her way to the communications antenna. The dirt kicked up in the air as she sped to her destination with Blake gripping tightly to Yang's abdomen region so she didn't all off. Blake used her other hand to hold her scroll so she could communicate with Terra who was willing to give some extra information the group may not know, that and she wanted to make sure the whole city wasn't without comms. "Okay, remember," Terra began, "One, the radar box is separate from the rest of the communications equipment. So if you disconnect it properly it shouldn't take out comms for the rest of the city." Blake nodded in understanding, she at least knew that part for when she did similar jobs with the White Fang, "Two, this conversation NEVER happened." Terra gained a very serious, one that the teens hadn't seen the whole time they stayed with her and Saphron.
"Don't worry," Blake assured with a smile, "this isn't my first time disabling Atlas security."
Terra stared at Blake through the scroll, blinking only once before reiterating, "NEVER. HAPPENED." and with that she hung up.
Yang slid to a halt about a quarter mile away from the antenna, still hidden through the trees and brush. Blake got off the bike and Yang did the same but before the blonde brawler could take two steps Blake had turned on her heels and stopped Yang by putting her hand on her shoulder. "Yang...I haven't been completely upfront with you."
"What do you mean?" Yang asked with a confused expression.
Blake sighed and folded her arms, her ears drooping slightly, "Look, there was a reason why I didn't want Peter to come with me. I had just gotten lucky that he was needed for something else." she frowned, "Yang, if what Peter said is true, if Adam is really waiting for me to be alone...we can't keep running from him. I, can't keep running from him. This time he leaks Peter's name and face to the military. But what about next time? What if he starts to hurt everyone else just to get to me. And where does it end? After me who does he go after? Peter? Weiss and her family?"
Yang's eyes widened as she started picking up on what Blake was saying, "So what you saying is..."
Blake nodded, "If Adam wants me. Then he can come and get me. I'm not running anymore." she gulped, "I just...don't know if I can do this alone."
Yang gripped her arm which had been shaking the moment Blake mentioned Adam. No more running, huh? Yang thought. Before she had nightmares of The Fall. That if she saw Adam again she wouldn't know what to do. But now that the opportunity is presenting itself and Blake is willing to fight? Well, she'll have to fight to. Yang's eyes turned red and a smile formed on her face, "A chance to show the punk how strong we've really gotten? Yeah, I'll jump at that chance."
Blake nodded, "Yeah. I'll go alone and give you the word when the time is right." she frowned and looked to the ground, "Yang, I'll be honest...I don't know if we'll win...but we have to try. And we can't keep relying on Peter to just swoop in and save the day. He won't always be there and...and I think that's the point. I think now Adam just wants a true battle."
Yang nodded and both girls had a look of determination before giving each other a hug. "I've got your back."
The two broke apart and Blake began dashing into the forest towards the antenna, "Heading in on foot. Won't be long."
With the group...
"YES!" Jaune exclaimed as he jumped in the air, "Everything is going according to plan." he held his hand to his ear and made a call on the comms, "Pete, we're looking good. Go ahead and lose those clowns and join the group."
"FINALLY!" Peter yelled out, "I was honestly getting bored out here. SORRY BOYS, LOOKS LIKE I HAVE A DATE!" Peter's comms cut off, but it sounded like he'd be fine.
Ren and Nora smiled at their leader who, probably, was getting a little too excited, but it seemed to be the happiest he's been in a few days. Ruby and Oscar smiled too, but then Ruby looked over to Qrow to see his less then thrilled expression while he leaned against a tree. Ruby seemed to pick up on his uneasiness and that reminded her that there was a possibility that none of this works. "Hey, this'll work out."
Ruby nodded, "Yeah...it has to."
Hey, while we have some downtime you wanna like, I don't know, flip through the script? "Script? What script?" Deadpool asked, "All these chapters are first drafts, written on the fly. There's no script." It's to keep with that authentic Rooster Teeth experience. Uncharacteristic dig at RT. Hey, I calls it how I sees it.
With Weiss...
Weiss sat on one of the benches of the airship as she waited to get out of communication range. The airship had taken off a few minutes prior so she was now a good distance from the city. Eagerly looking at her scroll, she watched as the connection bars that were next to her friends names slowly went down. Once they hit zero Weiss took a deep breath. The next part would be easier, but she still wouldn't feel good about it. She had to knock out the guards flying the ship.
Weiss stood up and walked to the cockpit, grabbing Myrtenaster on her way up. She opened the sliding door, surprising the guards. "Miss Schnee," one of the guards gasped, "Please, for your safety remain in your seat until--"
"No, I don't think I will." Weiss said with half lidded eyes. There was a slight struggle, but thanks to the guards not suspecting anything, Weiss was able to bind them in a glyph and kick them out the door of the airship with a parachute. Weiss watched the men fall and smiled as the parachute opened, "Glad that won't be on my conscience." While Weiss had closed the door to the drop ship, Maria had already let herself out of Weiss' suitcase and made herself at home in the cockpit, cracking her knuckles before taking the controls. "And you're sure you know how to fly this?" Weiss asked with concern as she took a seat in the co-pilot's chair.
Maria rolled her fake eyes, "Missy, I was the Grimm Reaper." she boasted as she adjusted the seat to work for her, "What part of 'Best Huntress of her Generation' don't you understand?"
Weiss cocked an eye in confusion before shaking her head slightly, "R-Right, but...your eyes." she clarified.
Maria chuckled and pulled out some sort of transceiver mechanism from the dash. She plugged it into the the top of her fake eyes. The power from the plugin allowed her eyes to open up completely and give her better sight. "You were saying?" Maria said smugly.
"That you said your eyes were in desperate need of repair!"
"Bup, bup, bup." Maria held her hand up to keep Weiss from asking more question, "Not another word about it." It was clear to Weiss that she wasn't going to convince Maria to not fly otherwise, so she did the only sane thing and buckled her seat belt.
The group...
Meanwhile, while waiting for Weiss to do her part, Ruby had just spotted that she was out of range. Ruby let out a deep breath and got on the comms, "Blake, you guys are up." There was no response which caused Ruby to get a little worried, "Yang, what's going on?"
"Uh...uh...fine, everything's fine. We're all fine. Here...now...how are you?" Yang, not wanting to let the group in on Blake's side plan, tried her best to lie, "Blake has got this. Trust me. Maybe she's just trying to not draw attention to herself?"
Ruby frowned, she didn't like the answer. It made her nervous especially when she saw a bar come back on Weiss' name. "Ruby, we have an issue." Weiss called over the comms, her sentence making Ruby's heart sink. "Cordo is onto us and Maria isn't helping." she said with a frustrated tone, "Why is the radar still up?"
"I don't know." Ruby's voice began to sound more and more worried, "Blake isn't responding!"
"What are we going to do?" Oscar asked.
"Just make sure the ship stays in one piece." Yang replied over comms. "I'll go check on Blake, now."
"WHAT?!?" Peter yelled on comms, the teens looked up and could see him approaching the group. He landed on the ground by Ruby and continued talking to Yang, "You aren't with her? What are you thinking! Blake could be in trouble, what if--" Peter's lenses widened as he heard a click on his comm link, "She hung up on me!"
"Dammit." Qrow grunted, "Cordo's gonna scramble her fighters. We've got maybe 90 seconds before they're in the air and all over Weiss and Maria." Qrow gritted his teeth and punch the tree he was leaning on, "This is all my fault."
Deadpool looked up from the script he was reading and cocked an eye, "Dude, what the hell are you talking about? You're semblance screwed us?"
Qrow wiped his face with his palm and sighed, "Every choice I've ever made has led me to here. To this moment. And I've dragged you all along with me. Oz myself the others. We're responsible for the mess the world is in now." he swallowed a lump in his throat, "And kid," he said looking at Peter, "it's even worse for you. You were brought into this world, not even by your own accord. You've done nothing but try to help the people here...to fix what I've left broken. And I've done nothing but spit in your face. So for that, I'm sorry." Peter was dumbfounded, he didn't think Qrow actually respected him, but he was willing to take it. Qrow shook his head, "No, I shouldn'tve come, I shouldn'tve let you come."
The group fell silent, mostly due to Qrow being the most vocal he's been in the last week. "We're all in this together." Ruby said with a determined tone. "And we're going to do the best we can. That's all anyone can do. And I know it's what you've always aimed for. We would've come whether or not you told us, so stop acting like we're your responsibility." Qrow looked at Ruby and he seemed to have come to the conclusion that she isn't the same little girl he watched grow up. Not her and not Yang, in his eyes these girls were definitely what it meant to be a huntress. "But...despite that, we could still use Qrow Branwen on our side. And we'd love the help."
Qrow looked down, his somber, frustrated expression changing to one of amusement and determination. He chuckled as he looked back up to look into his niece's eyes, "How'd you grow up so fast?"
Ruby smiled, "I had good role models. Not you though, I hope you understand."
Qrow nodded, "That's fair. As long as your role model wasn't this lunatic." the two looked over to Deadpool who was cleaning out the barrel of his gun with his pinky.
"Um...guys." Weiss again was on the comms, but she sounded much more worried than before, "She's not sending fighters."
The teens felt a rumble as they could barely see something happening at the Military Base. Deadpool tossed the script he was reading into the ocean and nodded. "I'm going, good luck with the robot." he said as he pat Peter's back.
"What? Going?" Peter asked, "Where the hell are you going?"
Deadpool looked to Peter and even though he wore a mask Peter could just tell that Deadpool had a serious expression. "You want your friends alive, right? You want to help them? Well then you stay here. You'll be of more help this way. I'll go make sure Blake and Yang are okay." As Deadpool started to walk into the forest towards Blake and Yang he turned back to Peter, "You know, this whole thing, when we started, it was really fun. It felt like a massive vacation. But now? Now it feels like business as usual, and people made things personal. Honestly, I kinda want to go home. But I'm not going back feeling like all I did the whole time was rub one out into a tube sock. I'm actually going to go home feeling accomplished of something. And just like rubbing one out in a sock, if you want something done right, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty." with that...oddly specific and cryptic statement, Deadpool left into the forest.
Finally the rumbling stopped and in the distance, even though it was so far away, the teens could definitely make out what looked to be a giant mech come from the rock spire that hid the base. "Guys...I think Cordovan is piloting that thing." Weiss said over the comms.
"Clearly the people have forgotten that they live in peace thanks to the awesome might of Atlas!" Cordovan proclaimed, her voice echoing across the entire city and even farther thanks to the large speakers that seemed to be on the mech. The mech's arm raised in the air as a show of Atlas might. The mech took a few steps forward and rose its right arm into the air, "Consider this a reminder!" as she said that the mech let out a huge energy blast that barely missed Maria and Weiss' transport. "And that was merely a warning shot!" Cordovan declared, "All Atlas personnel standby, and watch how your leader maintains order."
The group looked off in the distance and, aside from just Weiss and Maria quickly approaching them, Cordovan was on their tail with the mech. "Holy crap, that thing is huge!" Peter yelled out.
"I believe it's time you asked yourselves, children," Cordovan started as she got closer to the group, "Do you truly wish to defy me?"
Ruby gulped and pressed her fingers to her ear, "Hurry back Weiss. We're gonna need you on the ground if we're going to defeat this thing."
Peter began rolling his shoulders and let out a deep breath, "Man, figures Deadpool would leave the heavy lifting to me."
Blake...
"Damn." Blake quickly moved out of the way of a gunshot and ended up crushing her scroll in the process. He got here quicker than I imagined. He must have figured out we'd try sneaking out of here with a transport. Blake hid behind a small crate and got startled by the dead body of an Atlas soldier that Adam had undoubtedly killed while waiting for her. Blake ran out from cover to get a better vantage and looked down to the next level on the antenna where Adam stood, sheething his sword. He's in the way. I couldn't take out the radar before he attacked.
The antenna itself was a tall structure, closer to a tower really. It was an antenna, but after The Fall of Beacon many relay stations like this one had turned into guard posts. Of course, not every antenna is protected by Atlas Military, some smaller cities that have one have to resort to mercenaries or huntsman willing to have a day job. This antenna was technically one of the best equipped and well guarded antennas on Anima, perhaps even on all of Remnant. However, that doesn't mean anything to a man who has lost everything and the only thing he has left to live for is revenge against those who have wronged him. Did Adam want to kill the soldiers? Yes and no. Yes because he believes all humans should perish, no because they were not crucial in completing his objective but they just...got in his way.
"It's nice that we can finally have time to ourselves." Adam chuckled, "Your spider friend was awfully nice entrusting you with this mission...alone. Perhaps he knew you were the only one who could do it? Perhaps his plan was to jump out and fight me but, to my luck, his name was all over Military comms." Adam held up an earpiece that he had taken from one of the soldiers and crushed it in his fingers. "So where is he, is he waiting for you to call him, hm?"
Blake turned Gambul Shroud into its pistol form and aimed it at Adam, "He's not coming. He doesn't know I'm alone." Adam gave a slight smile, seemingly impressed with Blake, "I know he can't be there to protect me forever. That's what you wanted me to realize, right? That's why you outed him to the military, it's why you were waiting until I was alone." Adam could only laugh and clap his hands. "Well guess what, I've told you before. I'm done running. All I want right now is for you to leave me and my friends alone!" Blake fired off a few shots that Adam absorbed with his sword having it lightly glow red.
"I'm proud of you Blake." Adam laughed, "I bided by time just waiting, watching, learning. I see the yellow one is still alive. The heiress is in your group too, perhaps when I'm done with you I'll go after her next. I'm no longer interested in Spider-Man, I'll let him play cat and mouse with the military for the rest of his life. But that doesn't matter now. What matters now is this battle between you and me."
Blake sprinted to her right and wrapped the ribbon of Gambul Shroud around a large wire that connected power from the lower level to the upper level she was on. She then grabbed Gambul Shroud by the hilt and zip-lined down, taking a few potshots to try and keep Adam off her back while she was defenseless. Adam blocked a few more of the shots then used a weak Moon Slice to cut through the wire which caused Blake to fall and land flat on her back on the lower level that Adam was on.
Blake groaned in pain but was quick to get up and switch Gambul Shroud to its sword form and blocked a downward slice from Adam. From her lowered position, Blake tried for a horizontal slice at Adam's waist but he had jumped up and tried for a powerful overhead strike. Blake dodge rolled to her left and used her momentum to jump off the wall and go for a slice of her own. Adam narrowly dodged by leaning his body back and went for a quick slice to his right which Blake blocked by holding Gambul Shroud behind her shoulder causing Wilt to skid across it, sparks flying as the metal collided with each other. After Blake parried she rolled behind Adam and sent a round house kick which made him roll across the grated floor.
Adam stood up and rubbed his chin, "You've gotten better. I suppose what you said to me at Haven wasn't just talk." Adam began to strafe to his right and Blake followed suit both getting ready for the next strike. "You once believed in our cause, Blake. You said that you couldn't sit on the sideline like your parents and just wait for things to happen." Adam gritted his teeth, "But when things started getting hard you left! Ran away like a coward. You betrayed me, wronged me. Your actions caused the White Fang to turn on me, halted my progress!"
"You did that to yourself, you've became too enamored with revenge and hatred, you weren't the mentor I thought you were!" Blake argued, "Everything that's happened to you, you can blame yourself." Adam growled and moved first sending a slash that Blake was able to parry. Then, using her momentum, she flipped herself onto the railing behind her where she parried another slash. She then jumped off the railing and used her shadow clones to her advantage so she could get back up to the next platform.
When Blake landed back on the platform above she immediately looked over the railing and aimed her pistol down. However, when she looked over Adam was mysteriously missing. "Wha--AGH!" Blake was caught off guard as Adam had fired Wilt from his scabbard, Blush, and nailed her in the side of the head. Adam laughed sadisticaly as he caught his sword in air. Blake frowned and and fired a few rounds at Adam before throwing Gambul Shroud to the rafters and using her momentum to swing kick Adam in the chest, a move she learned from watching Peter.
The two engaged in sword clashes trading blows back and forth. Eventually the two got in a clash struggle. Adam grabbed Blake's left wrist which was the hand her sword was in and Blake grabbed Adam's left wrist, which was the hand his sword was in. Blake had the advantage as she could still use her pistol function and she was able to get a fee rounds off to make Adam let go of her.
Blake dodge rolled back and jumped onto the railing. Her eyes widened as she saw Adam about to sen another Moon Slice. Blake quickly jumped up and used her shadow clone to help her boost to the top platform. When she landed though she couldn't even get a breather as Adam had already followed her and placed his hand on her throat. Adam pushed Blake back against the railing and held tight as he began choking her out. Dammit, not like this. Blake used all the strength she had and made it so that both of them fell over the railing.
The two fell the four stories to the ground, the branches of the trees slowing their descent until they both landed with a thud on the ground. Both Adam and Blake slowly stood up, both grabbing parts of their body that began to ache because of the hard fall. "Let go of your past, Adam." Blake warned, "It isn't worth it. A life based on revenge and hatred will only end in turmoil."
"Just forget the past?" Adam asked, "After all this time?" he laughed, "Yeah, I'll forget the past. I'll kill it. I've killed my brothers and sisters in the White Fang for failing to move forward. I'll kill you and I'll kill everyone else that has wronged me. Everyone that kicked me into the dirt and spat on my face!" Adam gripped the hilt of Wilt and pulled it slightly out of the sheeth and got in a ready position.
Blake gripped Gambul Shroud with both hands and she did the same. "Then you better make sure I'm dead. Because the last time you thought you killed someone they came back to beat your ass and break your arm." she smirked.
To be continued...
A/N: Okay, I really liked this chapter. IDK why, it just felt like I could blow through it. Anyways let's talk about some of the scenes in this chapter.
...
Actually, that's a lie, I want to only talk about one scene in particular and that's the Blake and Adam fight. What the fuck was Adam talking about in the show? He says something like "Why do you always have to ruin my life" what the fuck is he talking about? Like, she 'beat' him once before that. Why's he a whiny bitch all of a sudden? Adam shows up for like 4 episodes in the whole series and in half of them he's a poorly written character, lmao. Like, why the fuck did he only take five White Fang members with him to Haven?
At least this fight is pretty cool though, but it kinda does that thing that bothered me in the Blake and Ilia fight in Volume 5 where it has like these close up shots at times. Zoom that shit out, let us see the whole fight. Other than that you do see that Blake is trying to play it smart in the fight, like she knows with range attacks Adam will only absorb the damage so she doesn't fire at him except the initial two times. Though, missed opportunity to get a few pot shots off in that sword class though. Like, there's a gun on your sword, pull the trigger a few times into the dudes chest.
The worst part about this scene is Blake's seeming change of attitude towards Adam from the previous volume. Like in canon she's freaking out to see him again, which sure makes sense, but she doesn't have that same attitude that she wasn't scared of him anymore that she seemed to come to at the end of V5. But that's my two cents, again, at least we get one of the two good fights of the volume out of it.
Okay, enough of my show review let's talk about light hearted stuff. You guys ever watch Eddsworld? So like, when I was in elementary school, like 3rd and 4th grade, Eddsworld was like starting to get pretty big. I think at one point it was like the biggest animation channel besides maybe Ebolaworld and Egoraptor (pre-Game Grumps of course). Anyways, the creator, Edd Gould, past away due to cancer in like 2012 and that always bummed me out. Not just because he was a content creator I really liked, but because he lasted for so long and was an inspiration of mine to get into drawing. I stopped drawing in high school, but it was a hobby I had from 3rd grade to Junior year, so at least I kept with it for a while.
Anyways the channel continued to make videos with Tom Ska at the helm. The videos were still quality and in like 2016 the show ended with the account going to Edd's family. It was so surreal to me, but it ended on a high note I think. Like, a perfect ending for pretty much a perfect series. Then I remember that Matt Hargreaves, the third member of the group, had gotten the blessing of Edd's family to continue. Nothing really came from it, just some comics here and there and con appearances. Then, out of nowhere, Eddsworld released a new video. The first one in four and a half years titled "Fan Mail #2" or something like that. And it blew me away, not that it was an outstanding video or anything, like it was classic Eddsworld humor, but I'm bot gonna compare it to Shakespeare or something. But the mere fact that Edd's creation continued not only for four years after his passing, but that it's get a revival four years after that.
It just brings a tear to my eye, like it's one of the last remaining gems of that era you know? It just makes me happy, and they posted another video on Easter. Not like a short but a full blown Eddisode, the first full Eddisode since "The End (Part2)" five years prior. Eddsworld may not have left a huge cultural impact or something, but they were big enough and they're probably one of the only channel's that 'ended' that kept a similar amount of subscribers wishing, hoping, they'd return. And the wait paid off. Not only a happy ending, but a joyous beginning to a new era.
