The Leviathan continued it's advance towards the city. The waters practically splitting as it walked. Without Cordovan the soldiers on the Argus Military Base immediately went to action. Many soldiers loading up into Attack Bullheads and heading out over the ocean to try and take down as many of the flying Grimm as possible as well as stop the Leviathan from reaching the shore. The Bullheads flew over the ocean shooting down as many Grimm as possible. Despite having what was probably a whole battalion fighting against the invading Grimm the soldiers were still outnumbered 2:1. But with the threat of the Leviathan that may as well be a 4:1 ratio, especially without the help of Cordovan and her Colossus.
Despite that, it is still the duty of the soldiers to try. A couple different Bullheads flew overhead and fired several missiles into it's side only for them to have little or no effect. The Leviathan let out a mighty screech that could be heard even from the shore, which was still several miles away. The creature then flailed its left arm out and managed to hit one of the Bullheads and knocked it down into the water, it was unsure if the pilot and passenger controlling the weapons made it out, however if they did it is possible they would have been picked off by the other Grimm. The Leviathan then submerged itself under water and began to swim towards the shore.
Back with the group, they stood in stunned silence as they could hear the struggle that the soldiers were going through, "All units be advised, Leviathan-class Grimm has submerged but is still on approach. Preparing Hardlight shields, over!"
After Air Traffic Control gave its warning another transmission came through by one of the pilots, "Dammit, we're getting slammed by hostiles over here. Where is Cordovan?"
The transmission cut off, but the group still see the battle unfold out in the distance. If nothing was done then the city would be done for. "This is your fault! Do you hear me!" Cordovan shouted over the intercom, shaking her free fist.
"Ruby/Spidey!" Ruby and the rest of the group turned to see Yang and Deadpool running towards them with Blake being carried on Deadpool's back.
"Yang, Blake!" Ruby yelled out. She ran up and quickly gave Yang a hug while Deadpool set Blake down, "Blake are you okay?" she asked worriedly.
"Yeah," Blake smiled, "Just a slight sprain. We had to get here quickly, so we opted for Deadpool to carry me."
"And I didn't even grab ass!" Deadpool said proudly as he pointed to himself. Blake, Yang and Deadpool looked past Ruby and saw the giant mech incapacitated, "Holy hell, you guys actually beat that thing? And here I thought I was gonna have to resort to using the fifty kilo of C4 I left inside that things engine." The group looked to Deadpool with varying expressions of disbelief, irritation, and astonishment, "What? I was in that base for a long time, and considering the trouble I get into I figure they'd use this knockoff Megazord against me eventually."
Peter shook his head and rubbed his temples, "Your telling me I strained and probably tore my muscles...when you could have just blown up her engine THIS WHOLE TIME!" Peter snapped his head up, Blake's cat ears twitched and everyone else turned towards the city when the massive screech of the Leviathan was heard, "Also we have THAT to deal with now." Peter slumped his shoulders and face palmed, "Can't we get a break at least once!?"
Blake and Yang looked at each other confused, "Sorry to ask but...what the hell is going on? What was that screeching, some sort of Grimm?"
"Yes." Weiss said with a gulp, "And not just any big Grimm, but a BIG Grimm. A Leviathan...And we just destroyed the only thing that can beat it."
Yang blinked a few times before patting Peter on his shoulder a few times, "Geez Pete, maybe we should have had you sit this fight out. We always seem to catch your bad luck."
Peter turned to Yang and squinted his lenses so they were barely slits, "I'm not massaging you anymore." he replied quietly causing Yang gasp dissapointedly.
"Enough dilly dallying!" Maria yelled out from the Transport, "If we are going to have any hope of getting to Atlas without opposition we need to get our kiesters into the air. So hurry up, if you lag behind I'll leave your ass here, ESPECIALLY if your name is Qrow." she chortled.
Qrow let out a long groan as he began walking to the transport, "She hasn't even met Deadpool yet." he mumbled.
Eventually, the group all piled onto the transport and Maria got them back into the air again. As the Transport lifted off the ground and began to fly towards the city the group looked down below one last time to Cordovan and her Colossus only to see her still struggling and still grunting hoping she can break the extra weight off her cannon and go help her people again. "Sorry." Ruby mumbled.
Inside the mech Cordovan thrashed and jerked the different levers trying to break off all the rock and ice that now covered the massive cannon on her mech, "This is YOUR FAULT!" she shouted angrily as she tried using both hands to move the lever for the cannon, "YOUR FAULT! This is..." as she saw the transport fly away, all Cordovan could do was hang her head in shame, "...what have I done." she said lowly.
"Ma'am what's your status? We need an answer, over." a pilot called over comms. Cordovan couldn't respond, instead she slammed her head against the control panel as she let out a frustrated cry.
"YOU DID WHAT!?" Peter yelled out, gripping his head in frustration, as well as taking deep breaths to try and calm his nerves. The reason why he was so frustrated was because he had just been told by Blake and Yang what their plan was and why they intentionally baited Adam into a trap, "Of all things--All you had to do was stay together and Adam would have never made a move. What if something happened?"
"But nothing did happen." Yang replied. She then looked down to Blake's broken Gambul Shroud and thought of some of the hits she had taken, "Well...almost." Yang looked up to Peter who was now squinting his lenses as he looked down at the two, "Look, it was Blake's idea anyways. And, she was right!" she argued, "If we let Adam just roam free who knows how many people he would hurt. What if he followed us to Atlas? What then? You know he'd just keep following, waiting until Blake was alone. She can't always be around us...and you couldn't always be around her." Peter crossed his arms and didn't say anything else. He knew Yang was right, but he still didn't like the methods her and Blake used. Especially since they didn't even know of they'd win.
Ruby, seeing Peter's disapproval, elbowed him in the chest and gave him an upset look. She then crouched down and cupped Blake's hands into her own, "You're safe. That's all that matters." she said with a smile. Blake returned the smile before her and Ruby embraced in a hug. Yang snorted slightly at the two before she was also pulled into the hug by both Ruby and Blake.
"Pfft. 'All that matters' she says." Deadpool mumbled, "I'm the one who offed the guy, where's my hug? Where's my smoking hot babe?" Distracting Cinder so she doesn't catch up? "Besides that."
There was a slight silence throughout the Transport before they heard Maria clicking her tongue, "I...hate to be the bad guy and state the bad news, but getting the lamp to Atlas is still our top priority." she stated, "And right now we have the perfect opportunity to head straight for it. We may never get another chance like this." The group looked at each other, some with nervous expressions, others with upset expressions over the idea of just leaving the people of Argus to suffer from the Grimm.
"No way/Are you insane!?" Yang and Peter yelled out respectively. "We have to help those people down there!" Yang added.
Weiss folded her arms and scoffed, "Honestly, saying something like that. Around us? We can't just leave like this."
"No way am I about to let my big sis get hurt if there was something we could do about it!" Jaune added receiving a nod and a cheer from Ren and Nora.
Blake also nodded, "Isn't this what you said makes a true huntress? To protect others to the bitter end?"
"Ruby said it best," Peter said lowly, "protecting those who can't protect themselves is our responsibility. And...well...we kinda messed up the only thing this city has on taking down this Leviathan. So, it's kinda doubly our responsibility."
Maria looked back at Ruby who just smiled and shrugged. Maria let out a chuckle of her own before diverting course and moving towards the Grimm. Ruby turned back to her friends and immediately faced Jaune, "Jaune, can you and Ren be ready to mask our ship?" she asked.
Ren and Jaune looked at each other before nodding, "I think we can manage." Ren stated confidently.
"Yeah, WAY smaller than a train." Jaune joked, he then quickly cleared his throat and became serious again, "So...you got any ideas?"
"I've got one." Ruby smirked.
"Eyes up everybody. It's back." Qrow stated as the group watched the Leviathan re-emerge from the water. Group looked ahead as the large creature stood up in the water and let out a mighty roar, the water falling off its body and out its mouth like some sort of waterfall.
"Base, this is Manta 3-4." the group listened in to the open comms that were coming in from other pilots, "Leviathan has reached the shallows and has resurfaced. We need those shields up NOW, over." Almost as soon as it was commanded the group could see different spires rise up from the water, lights began to flash on the spires and hardlight shields began to connect the spires together forming two different defense perimeters.
The Leviathan ran face first into the shields as the last of the hardlight shields came online. It roared in frustration and slammed its arm forward. "Target stopped! Engaging now." a pilot called out. The group watched as two Bullheads flying side-by-side swooped down and launched several missiles at the face of the Leviathan. The creature shook its head as the smoke cleared and it looked as if a missile had just gone off in its mouth. However, the explosion continued to persist.
"What the hell is going on over there?" Peter asked as he leaned his face over Qrow's seat to get a better look out the front window. The explosion in the creature's mouth seemed to get bigger and bigger until it opened it's mouth all the way and a giant yellow beam blasted out and began melting the shields. "HOLY CRAP! IT'S A GODZILLA!" The Leviathan moved its beam blast along the hardlight shield until it hit one of the spires and destroyed it, causing a disconnection and the shield to shut down.
"Oh, shit." Deadpool, Qrow, Maria and Jaune said in unison.
Oscar gulped as he and the others watched the events unfold, "It...it just tore through it." Peter looked back and he could see the mix of horror and anxiety on the boy's face.
"All squadrons," Air Control called out on the comms once again, "Fall back to evacuation procedures. Disengage Leviathan. I repea: Disengage Leviathan!"
"WAIT!" Ruby shouted as she pushed past Peter into the cockpit and opened the comms. "We can stop it!"
"Who is this? Identify yourself!"
"I'm a huntress." Ruby stated, "My team and I are heading towards the Leviathan and can weaken it for you to attack."
It was quiet and no response had been given, "Um...we can?" Jaune asked.
Ruby turned to Jaune, with a determined expression, "I can." Ruby then looked at Peter who had an obvious worried expression, "I. Can." she said with more determination. Peter smirked and turned back to Qrow where his smirk turned into a nervous smile.
"Ruby," Maria started with an unsure tone herself, "When I said 'trial by fire' I didn't mean--"
"I did it at Beacon." Ruby interrupted, "And I used it to help my friends at the farm."
"But..." Weiss hesitated slightly, "Do you really think you could do it now?"
"I don't exactly have a choice...do I?" Ruby replied with a slight smile.
"Manta 5-1," Air Control finally got back to the group, though it wasn't necessarily with good news, "Your ship is currently marked as 'hostile.' You'll receive no help."
The group collectively felt frustrated as they can't seem to catch a break. "Fine." Ruby replied with a frustrated tone, "Guess we'll just do it ourselves. We'll hit it while it stops at the next barrier. Ren, you're up. Weiss, I'll need your help. Those who are able...give the city some support. Don't let the Grimm fly over."
"Did somebody call for AIR SUPPORT!" Deadpool shouted. The group turned to the mercenary to see the sleeves of his suit were ripped off, showing his bare arms. He had a torn, green bandana wrapped around his head. He had an LMG in his right hand and his left hand carried belts upon belts of ammunition.
Qrow cocked an eyebrow rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things, "Where the hell did he--"
"Shhhhhh." Peter said as he pinched Qrows lips together, "Trust me...it's best if you just go with it."
Jaune looked at Ren and nodded. He then placed his hand on his friend's shoulder and began to enhance his aura while Ren did his thing. Ren took a deep breath and crouched to a knee and placed his hands on the floor. The ship began to get covered in a gray hue, it even started covering the passengers. Because of this Maria was able to fly through the thick of the battle. Around the group they could see Grimm being shot down as well as Bullheads having their engines blown up from Grimm crashing into them. Maria was able to weave in and out and avoid the battle, but she had some help too with Deadpool shooting down Grimm that happened to get too close.
As Maria flew the group closer and closer Ruby began to take deep breaths to try and psych herself up for the feat at hand. It looks...way bigger up close, huh? Ruby thought with a worried gulp. "Pull up beside it!" Ruby ordered. Maria nodded and charged forward towards the creature's snout. However, as the group got closer they saw it was charging up for another blast.
"We're too late, pull up!" Qrow yelled and Maria complied, quickly yanked up on the controls having the group narrowly avoid running headfirst into the blast. The transport then skid its bottom across the snout as Maria evaded. The Leviathan's blast the went forward and fizzled against the second hardlight shield barrier. Once again, the Leviathan moved it's blast until it hit one of the spires and disabled the shields. Once the shield was down the creature's blast continued and took a tower off one of the buildings on the mainland--breaking off and falling to the streets below.
Ren and Jaune collapsed after the sudden evasion and tried to catch their breaths, "Sorry. That's all I've got left in me." Ren said.
"It's on the move again." Blake warned as she looked at the creature from out the window, "We need to stop it now before it hits the land!"
"What's the plan now, Ruby?" Yang asked.
Ruby looked to Weiss and smirked, "Weiss, be ready." she then turned to the others in the group, "Yang, Nora--be ready to be distractions. Peter, keep the Grimm off the transport." Peter nodded in response before he climbed out of the transport and clung himself to the roof, "And Deadpool," Deadpool turned to Ruby and pointed to himself with a confused look, "just be you."
Deadpool nodded and racked his gun, "COME ON, SOLDIERS!" he shouted to Nora and Yang, "Today we dine on the blood of our enemies! So get ready! Get psyched! RIP AND TEAR! Live for nothing, or die for something! YOU ARE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Deadpool began to open fire at the Leviathan's skull, yelling at the top of his lungs as the belts of ammo unloaded and fell into the waters below.
"What is he saying?" Yang asked.
"WHO CARES!" Nora laughed as she cocked her launcher, "HEY, UGLY!" she shouted as she and Yang joined Deadpool in firing at the Leviathan's head.
Blake looked over the trio's shoulder's and grimaced, "Is it working?" she asked.
"Unfortunately." Maria replied with a grunt, "Better hang on, we're gonna make some evasive maneuvers!" Maria jerked the controls right and she moved the transport quickly so the creature will stop moving towards land and hopefully focus on them for a while. Blake, losing balance slightly herself, she moved over to Weiss who was on the ground, focusing on a glyph. Blake gripped her shoulders and held the former heiress in place. Ruby...I hope this plan works. Blake thought worriedly.
Down below, Ruby had jumped off the transport and was riding on Weiss' summoned Queen Lancer as her way to stealthily get closer to the Leviathan. Ruby gained her balance and stood up on the Lancer. "Okay. I can do this...I have to do this." she said with a nod. The lancer flew forward so Ruby could face the creature, she gulped and closed her eyes and took a few breaths to try and focus.
With Peter, he was fighting off the flying Grimm that tried attacking the transport. He didn't have a lot of wiggle room, but he ended up with a solid strategy of webbing the wings of the creatures so that they'd fall into the waters below. Be careful! If you ruin your body two much we'll both die! Ero warned. "Yeah, yeah." Peter replied as he dodged a slash from a flying Grimm. Peter's head jerked up in confusion when he realized his Spider Sense was no longer alerting him to danger coming at him. "What the?" he turned his head and saw the Grimm began to move to Ruby who was just standing still. Peter jumped down and swung himself back into the bay of the transport, "The Grimm are moving towards Ruby, try and distract them, Wade!"
Deadpool immediately began focusing on the flying Grimm, shooting them down one by one. "Ruby?" Yang called out on comms as she held her hand to her ear, "Ruby, try and hurry! Something's wrong with the Grimm they're--" Yang heard a click and she dropped her mouth in bewilderment, "She hung up on me!" Peter looked back to Ruby and his arm began to tense up.
Ruby tossed out her ear piece so she didn't have any distractions while she tried to bring out the power of her silver eyes. Focus. she thought, Deep breaths. Go deep into my thoughts. Remember who I want to protect. Ruby's mind went back and she began thinking back to her early years of just her, Yang and her dad on Patch. She then thought forward to Beacon and the fun times the group had, including: her and Peter teasing Weiss, her and the girls teasing Peter, RWBYS and JNPR hanging out in town, the massive food fight they had...but her good thoughts didn't last. She began thinking of what happened later, Yang being tricked and getting mentally toyed with, her team beaten and separated, Yang losing her arm and being in a depressive state at home, seemingly never seeing anyone again...Pyrrha...Penny.
Ruby seethed as the bad memories came back. She opened her eyes, expecting to unleash the silver eyes like she did at the farm, but instead she was face-to-face with the Leviathan. The creature let out a growl and its breath was strong enough to act as a gust of wind for Ruby who almost lost her balance on the Lancer. "W-What!?" she began to hyperventilate as the creature opened its mouth and motioned to eat Ruby. "No, no, no, no!" Without any other choicr, Ruby thought of the solution she could come up with, "JINN!" she shouted, her voice echoing as everything around her came to a screeching halt.
Ruby took several deep breaths, looking around at her surroundings. The creature was stopped several yards away from her, ships were stuck in the middle of combat, the waves stopped moving. But most of all, to her right was a web line shot by Peter who was now stuck to the side of the transport as he had both his arms extended. "I'm sorry." she apologized as the large blue woman of the lamp floated next to her, "I don't have a question for you I just...I just needed time."
Jinn floated with her hand against her face, a slight frown on her face...but it had hints of a smirk showing. "I know." she replied, "And while you don't seek knowledge, just this once, I will give it freely." Jinn leaned forward and a serious expression formed on her face, "I will not allow you to use me without a question again." despite her frustration, Jinn couldn't help but let her smirk slip back and let out a slight chuckle, "Even if this was clever."
Ruby nodded and turned back around. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath once again. Remember. Good thoughts. Remember those who I wish to protect. Her thoughts went to Beacon again, and instead of remembering all the bad things that ended up happening, she began thinking about the good things. Her team bonding together, when Weiss accepted her as their leader, the dance and how it led to Yang and Peter getting together, the time she spent with JNR on their way to Mistral and, the reunion with her friends, her new friends, Maria, Oscar, and the memory of her mom.
Time began to slowly return to normal as Ruby opened her eyes and an extremely bright light shone from her eyes. The light was bright enough it flashed towards town and even a little bit more out to sea. When the light subsided, and Ruby regained her vision, she noticed she was off the Lancer and could hear a loud whirring sound. She looked behind her to see Peter's mask looking at her while his arms wrapped around her, "I've got your back." Peter said with a nod.
"I know." Ruby smiled and kissed Peter on his cheek, "Thanks for the trust, Spidey." Looking ahead the group could see the Leviathan turned to stone just a half-mile from the military base. However, the excitement didn't last long as it turned out the Leviathan wasn't completely covered in stone. The top of its head was completely uncovered, giving it enough movement to break free down to its shoulders. "No way..." Ruby muttered with a disappointed tone.
"I'll take it from here!" The group looked to the cliffside where they initially came from to see Cordovan approaching the Leviathan, now missing the cannon arm. The mech began to pick up it's pace as the left hand turned into a massive drill, "After all...I was sworn to protect these people!" she cried out as she charged forward with the drill and pierced the Leviathan dead-on in its chest. Cordovan continued her battle cry as she shoved the drill deeper into the Leviathan's chest until it eventually disintegrated into a large puff of black ash.
The mech turned to the transport ship the group was on and Maria received a private communication from Cordovan. "This is Cordovan." she announced.
"Cordo!" Ruby yelled as Peter placed her in the bay, "Thank you...and I'm sorry." she said with a bow, a gesture, while nice, wouldn't have the same effect if Cordovan couldn't see her.
The radio was silent for some time before Cordovan finally replied, "The Atlas Military will handle the stragglers."
Ruby blinked several times, "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"I'm saying that I don't think anybody would notice if one more ship ended up missing in my lengthy report." she chuckled, "However...That isn't to say I won't report the arrival of Peter Parker and Wade Wilson to Atlas. I'm still part of the Atlesian Military after all."
"If it gets us the hell outta here, deal." Peter said quickly.
And with that, Cordovan ended the communication and the group was free to leave. "Everybody get in and strap up, close those doors, and get comfortable. We've got a long road ahead of us." Maria announce.
"Roads? Where we're going we won't need roads." Deadpool replied as the doors closed causing Peter to let out a laugh that he DESPERATELY needed after the last few days.
Peter sat down and let out a long breath as he took off his mask showing his sweaty and, quite frankly, greasy hair. "Finally." he chuckled as Yang, Ruby, Weiss and Blake all came and sat beside him with JNR and Oscar sitting not to far away either, "Just a bit of forewarning, the moment we see him, I'm going to punch Ironwood in the face. Not for forgetting to take me off most wanted, or for putting me in the Top Ten. No, no. I'm going to punch him for closing travel to Atlas making us go through this whole ordeal."
"Hey," Qrow poked his head back from the passenger seat and pointed at Peter, "you better get in line." he chuckled before leaning in his seat again, trying to get comfortable.
Nightmare...
"Uuuuuuuuugh." Nightmare let out a long groan as he stretched his arms. Currently he was in Atlas, where he had been for a few weeks now. Specifically, he was in Ironwood's office. Because he was the Lord of the Dreamworld, as well as now having much more power than before thanks to the gift from Mephisto and Grimm abilities given to him by Salem. This meant he could essentially walk around virtually unseen unless he wants to actually be seen. With his new powers, he was able to have a view of most anything in the world if he focused, the catch was he still needed something he could peer into. Luckily he had swiped a scroll not to long after arriving.
Currently he was checking to see how his obstacle was doing in slowing down Peter. "Damn that kid." he groaned, "He and his friends are more capable than I thought. How the hell would I know that Rose brat could Medusa the Grimm? Damn that Salem, this is what happens when you don't tell your allies what they're dealing with!" he complained to no one. The room was silent, only the ticking of the clock could be heard. "No matter, I can slow them down while they're here. Just long enough so that my plans can get ready. I still need months!" Nightmare scratched his head and clicked his tongue several times. "I mean...I could try and kill him, but that makes my revenge kind if boring. It needs spectacle, it needs audience!" as he said that, Nightmare heard the door open and he quickly left the chair.
Ironwood stepped into his office and sighed. He placed his hand on his face and rubbed his eyes, he had been working for too long. Ironwood reached down and opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a small glass and a bottle of bourbon. "What am I going to do? The materials that Octavious is requesting is both hard to come by and necessary to our satellite project." he rubbed his eyebrows in frustration before taking a drink. Ironwood's appearance has...some would say deteriorated. Gone was his usual clean shaven and serious demeanor, now was a man with a bit of a scraggly beard, and tired face.
Oh, this may be a good opportunity. Nightmare thought. Nightmare approached Ironwood and held his hands near his head, subconsciously implementing the idea into Iroonwood's head to get drunk. That's right, drink up James. It's time to help me out again. "Hahahahaha."
Peter...
Back on the transport, Peter was fast asleep, his head resting on Yang's lap while he finally was able to relax. It had already been several hours since they left Argus and it had already become dark out. "We should have just enough fuel to make it." Maria said happily to Ruby who had come up to the cockpit to see how their situation was going.
"Thanks Miss Calavera." Ruby said with a nod before she turned to walk back to the bay with her friends before Qrow stopped her.
"Hey, Ruby." Qrow called out, "You did great out there today." he laughed, "Just don't go giving me heart attacks like that again." Qrow lifted up his flask as if to go for a drink but considering everything they had gone through, he thought best of it.
Ruby quickly wrapped her arms around Qrow's neck for a hug, "I love you too."
Ruby let go and began walking to the back before Qrow stopped her again, "And, Ruby? Let that kid know...well, let him know I said 'Thanks.' You know, for always having your back." Ruby smiled and nodded and finally made her way to her friends.
"You know, you weren't half bad today yourself, Qrow." Maria complimented.
Qrow only sighed, "I feel like they did all the heavy lifting. I mean...even Peter, did you see him lift the hand of the mech? I've never seen a huntsman that strong. Feels like they were the ones protecting me today."
Maria smirked, "Ah, but you still helped when they asked for it. And you were there to catch them if they fell."
Qrow gave a genuine smile for what seemed to be the first time in years, "Thanks." he nodded, "You know, it was pretty incredible getting to see the Grimm Reaper in action."
"HA! You should have seen me at your age."
"Thanks for being there for them, Deadpool." Weiss said before she started gagging, "Oh gods...I just thanked Deadpool."
Deadpool stretched himself popped his neck a few times, "Eh, they could have dealt with it themselves I'm sure." he chuckled, "But I had some unfinished business to take care of and I wasn't going to let anybody take that from me. Hell, you kids are of age now, if you got in my way I probably would have shot you." the group looked at Deadpool with varying faces of concern and worry, "Hahahahahah-HAHAHAHA, is he joking? who knows!" Spoiler alert: We likely aren't.
"Regardless," Blake said as she looked to the mercenary, "Thanks."
The group turned their attention to Ruby who was just standing there. The different looks caused the young huntress to get nervous, "Hey, w-what's with those looks?"
"You petrified a Leviathan." Ren pointed out, "And you had Peter forcefully open up the missile silo of the mech!"
Peter quickly shot his head up, "I heard my name, are we there yet?" looking around he saw the various looks he was getting, "No? Okay, back to sleep I guess." Peter then shot a webline to the ceiling and began to hang upside down.
"Come on," Ruby chuckled, "We all do crazy things. Peter was able to single-handedly lift the arm of the mech!"
"Wait, he did what?" Yang and Blake asked in unison.
"And-and, OSCAR!" Ruby yelled, "He made a successful crash landing! He's a fourteen year old farm hand!"
"O-Oh, please." Oscar chuckled, "Actually...I've been meaning to mention it...Um, I didn't land the ship on my own." upon hearing the news the group grew intrigued at what the farm hand meant, "You see...when we were going down, I was freaking out. I wasn't sure we'd make it. But...then 'he' told me everything would be fine." Oscar said as he pointed to his head.
"Ozpin took control?" Nora asked.
"No, he only guided me. Then he was gone again." Oscar said with a sad expression.
"Does that mean he's been watching us this whole time?" Yang asked.
"He can't exactly leave, Yang, he's kinda attached to Oscar if you hadn't noticed." Peter let out a slight chuckle and received a punch in the shoulder.
"Hey," Qrow called back, "If you've never seen Atlas in person before, you don't wanna miss this."
The group walked to the front and looked out the window to see a giant floating city above another city. Everyone was in awe except for Peter who seemed concerned. Looking to the city below he could see what was very clearly plumes of smoke. I have a bad feeling about this. Ero stated. Yeah, maybe Mantle is in worse shape than we thought. Weiss leaned herself forward and squinted, "What's wrong?" Peter asked.
"It's the Atlas Air Fleet." Weiss mentioned. Looking higher into the sky the group could see dozens of airships surrounding Atlas and in what looked to be some sort of defensive position, 'I-I knew they were all called back but..."
"It looks like they're expecting an attack." Qrow said in disbelief.
"Manta 5-1. Welcome home." an Air Traffic Controller said over the comms.
"Hey, kid." Qrow said as he grabbed Peter's shoulder, "What's that ability you have? Danger Sense?"
"Spider Sense." Peter corrected.
"Whatever. What us it telling you right now?"
Peter let out a long sigh, "It's not going to be good."
To be continued...
