A/N: I. Am. LATE AS HILF! Just...wow. So let's make this a quick explanation.
Between the lack of motivation, rising anxiety during the days at work, work itself, being tired throughout my weekend...well it wasn't a fun time. But I made it through. Eventually...I feel really bad.
But that isn't important, what is important is that this chapter is up and we can continue. So with that, I say enjoy.
(CHAPTER START)
Days Before the Cell Games
(C.C. Island, Living Room) (The Next Day)
The day had passed by quickly with Rukido and Corvus leaving the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, leaving Raidtz and Ranch to head in themselves. The One Year for the duo was beyond helpful, both Warriors being able to be a much more controlled version of Super Saiyan to the same point as Goku and Gohan. It wasn't long for them to return back home, where'd Rukido decided to follow Goku's lead.
In relaxing about they're free time.
"So this...Dende is going to be the new guardian?" Corvus asked, unsure of what to make of it. He was currently wearing a black muscle shirt, light brown cargo pants, and white combat boots.
"Yup! We'll have a whole new set of Dragon Balls once Goku comes back with Dende. After that will just be finding them all over again." Chronoa explained while placing Baby Corvus in his baby seat. He slapped his tiny table as he was closed in, letting loose a series of gibberish. "I hope you built up an appetite while with Rukido. I know he can be a little tiring when he gets into training."
"Ain't that the truth." Corvus mumbled. His father didn't hope back when it came to a full blown sparring match and he used to have the marks to prove it. However where Vegeta seemed to use Trunks to further his own strength, his father actually seemed really excited every time they had fought. He felt...worthy in his presence for the first time since he met him. "...Erm..."
"Hmm? Is something wrong?" Chronoa came up to him and placed a hand upon his forehead, much to his embarrassment. "You didn't get sick while in there did you?"
"N-no! I was just...I was just curious about you, that's all..." He looked away while scratching the side of his cheek, a light blush covering his face.
The Kai looked at him surprised for a moment before her face morphed into a bright smile. "Of course! Ask me anything you want."
"...How did you fall for Father?" Corvus asked, tilting his head while his expression could be desired as child-like. Chronoa blushed a bit at the question before speaking up.
"Well...it involved food." Tha Kai began.
"Food...?" Corvus trailed up with a deadpan expression on his face. This wasn't the start he was expecting, but he listened in nonetheless.
"Hmmm." Chronoa hummed happily, her eyes closed as she rested her head in her hands. "Back then, I was a pretty good chef, you know? Everyone enjoyed my meals so much to the point where they avoided me for days whenever I mentioned I was making something."
'...Doubt.'
"However, your father had the nerve to say it was terrible! Right in my face!" Chronoa complained with a slight pout. "Next thing I know, he's showing me his way and...well...it was only slightly better than my own."
She then saw the look of disbelief on Corvus' face and sighed. "Okay, a lot better than mine."
"How does it lead to you falling for him?" Corvus asked.
"Well, he more or less forced me to cook with him from that point on. Something about not wanting to poison Trunks any longer." Chronoa seemed really dismissive about it while Corvus felt bad for his cousin. "But after that we just...clicked in a way. Nothing crazy, we didn't get together until we were on Earth, but back then he was the closest person that made me feel comfortable being myself."
"...Did you...not like yourself?" Corvus asked uneasily.
"No, nothing like that." Chronoa reassured him with a smile. "For us Kai's, we did not really expect to enjoy mortal-like things. I doubt you'd be surprised with how many of us are actually jerks, especially when it comes to dealing with mortals."
"God's with God-Complexes...personally don't see it." Corvus said with an eye roll, yet smiling.
"But with Rukido, I felt more at peace with myself than I ever did in my life." Chronoa said, a look of content on her face. "He just makes me happier whenever he's around. I feel like I never have to worry about anything, that things will work out so long as he's the one there. Even if he needs some help to do so. I suppose that's why I love him so much."
Corvus looked at the woman with surprise, trying hard to not smile. It was honestly shocking with how well he was taking this, but he didn't mind the Kai being with his father as much as he did previously. Plus his own mother was still with him and he was still born, so no harm done there thankfully.
"That's quite the story M-Chronoa." He cursed himself at saying her name. He tried to call her "mother," but something held him back. He was about to apologize for it before he felt a hand on shoulder.
"It's alright." Chronoa said with a kind smile. "I couldn't imagine how you were feeling about this relationship. Calling me mother isn't something you have to force yourself to do though. Chronoa is just fine to me."
"I-Thank you..." He felt terrible about it still, but was thankful that the Kai had forgiven him so easily. She patted his head and walked towards the kitchen, leaving him to look down with a sigh. 'I have to work on that.'
"Hello?" Corvus perked up at the voice and turned around to see Gohan coming in. The boy was wearing a white, chinese inspired outfit. "Corvus!"
"Gohan, how have you been?" The Time-Traveler asked.
"I'm fine, but I was wondering if you wanted to do some fishing with me?" Gohan asked, surprising his friend.
"Didn't your father want to go with you?" Corvus asked.
"Well he did, but Mom wanted him to stay home today. Something about...bedroom sparing or something?" Gohan said, confused. Corvus choked on his own breath while several plates were heard crashing into the kitchen.
'At least I know for sure Goten will be born for sure.' Chronoa thought as she heard Corvus attempting to catch his breath. With that in mind, she yelled for both of them to hear. "Go on Corvus! In fact, take yourself with you! Maybe You'll learn a thing or two about kids when you have them someday!"
"I-That's the last thing on my mind!" Corvus screamed out, face red. He groaned and sat up from his chair before picking up his younger self. "You're with me...me."
"BAH!"
"Dang right! Come on Gohan, fish await!" Corvus declared, grabbing the confused boy by his free arm and quickly left the house.
Sighing in content, Chronoa was about to make plans for whatever fish were brought back only to let out an epp as a pair of arms wrapped around her waist. However she soon felt calm at recognizing who they belonged to. "Did you really have to sneak up on me like that?"
"What can I say? I wanted to surprise you." Rukido said as he dug his face into her neck. She merely humed at this, but he could feel the heat rising. "It's nice though. Seeing you and Corvus getting along. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't afraid."
"I guess he had a lot to say about me?" Chronoa winced as she asked.
"More like a few questions." Rukido said, thinking back to the Time Chamber.
(Flashback: Time Chamber)(3 Months In)
Rukido and Corvus had just finished another sparing session, forcing themselves to stay as Super Saiyans for as long as possible. Even as they took a break, in order to reach the highest level of control possible for the form.
"So how's it coming along?" Rukido asked, slurping down some noodles.
"It's...getting easier, but not by much." Corvus said as he carefully picked up a cup as gently as he could.
"If Goku and Gohan could do this, then we can too." Rukido said determined. "We'll need this level if we're gonna stand a chance against Cell."
"Yeah..." Corvus was deep in thought about the being of Cell. He wondered what kind of monster could surpass the Android's level of cruelty and now he had it. And still he wondered... "...Father...can I ask about...Chronoa?"
"Hmm? Sure." Rukido said, stopping eating.
"...I don't wanna sound rude, but...why did she allow the timeline to flow freely? To allow things like the Androids, like Cell exist?" Corvus asked, once filled with confidence before it started to drain with each word that left. He quickly regretted it and shook his head. "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that."
"No it's fine. You're more than right to ask that kind of question." Rukido said calmly. The son looked up to see his father smiling softly. "I ask the same question you know?"
"Y-you did?"
"Hmm. I lived pretty peacefully in the timeline before Cooler destroyed my planet. I only ever survived because of her choosing to save me. Even if it was just to work with her." Rukido confessed while Corvus frowned. That was different than what he was told...then again, Time-Travel was BS to understand to begin with. "When I asked her why she didn't save the planet, she said that it had to remain that way in order for time to travel normally."
"But that's not all you want to hear. I'll give you a proper answer now...when it comes to Chronoa's people, they aren't born, but rather created for the purpose of keeping the Universe in Balance. Not to support nor good or evil, just to make sure that there's a balance. When it comes to her, it's a lot more complicated. She has to make sure that the bad things that happen, stay that way or else things like...well all of this happens. Becoming worse than before. It was the only way to ensure that some peace can be maintained."
"I see..."Great, now he felt bad for how he acted before.
"...But you should know she did break her own oath."
"She did? When?"
"When Bulma first created the Time Machine and Trunks used it. She could have easily dealt with them with her own power, but instead she allowed time to go on and see what it could become. Because of that, it went far further than it should have been and all for the better. I don't need to tell you what would have happened if she did fix it." Rukido said.
"The Androids killing Trunks...and Cell absorbing them." Corvus said, looking down.
"Exactly...But none of that matters now. We're here now." Rukido said with a wide grin.
"Yeah, we are here." Corvus said, his own grin growing. Setting his cup down, he powered right back up. "Come on, let's go another round!"
"Already? Man you're gonna be like this when your younger self is gonna grow up. No doubt about that." Rukido chuckled as he placed his food to the side and looked at him with a smirk. "Well then, let's get started."
"YEAH!" Corvus dashed up to the air with a wide grin. "COME ON OLD MAN!"
"Old? Well, you're definitely gonna get it now!" Rukido declared as he dashed straight up to Corvus' level. "It's time for a very harsh punishment."
"Bring it on then!" Corvus mocked before charging forward, his father doing the same. They roared as they're elbows clashed as a shockwave echoed throughout the dimension.
Smirks still on their faces.
(Present)
"He's gotten a lot stronger. The Androids won't know what hit them." Rukido said with a confident grin.
"What? Do you think we already have Cell beat?" Chronoa asked, a hint of worry in her tone. This was definitely a big change, not even one she had ever had to deal with herself. It was scary to say the least.
"Yup."
"Just yup?"
"Yup."
"I was kinda expecting more." Chronoa said, a nervous smile on her face.
"Well...how about a promise." Rukido grabbed her and turned her around as he said this. He pulled her close so she would be forced to look up at his grinning face. "I promise when Cell's defeated...we'll have our own child."
"...Eh...EHHH!" The Kai screamed out, her face completely red. "I-YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!"
"Too bad, I did." Rukido laughed as he did this.
"I-I don't even know if we can even have children!I-I mean it wouldn't be impossible...GAH WHAT HAVE YOU GOT ME SAYING!" Chronoa was beyond embarrassed at this point, but it was going to get worse.
"...Don't say that it's impossible." Rukido said seriously. He held her chin and pulled her close, giving her a primal look. "I won't stop until I breed with you."
"B-breed...?" Die. She was gonna die.
"Hmmm. I'll obliterate every inch of you, even when you're left into a moaning mess I won't stop. Especially when you make the whole world know my name when I'm with you." Rukido's voice was husky and his eyes were dim, but the lust was there alright. "And most importantly, not until I'm sure you're pregnant with my child."
"I-I-I-I." Dying-No. She was already dead.
"Until then." Rukido kissed her on top of her head and let her go. She placed a hand on the counter and the other between her breast, struggling to catch her breath as she looked up to see his face back to normal. "Just wait for now. I'm keeping that promise for sure."
...Otherworld was gonna be nice this time of year.
(Kami's Lookout)
As Raditz's and Ranch's day within the time chamber went by, Piccolo and Polar awaited outside for their chance for more training. However this didn't mean they weren't going to train until then.
For now they were doing light sparring to get a feel for each other's skill.
No ki, no flight.
Just hand to hand martial arts firmly planted on the lookout floor.
Piccolo grunted, blocking a pair of jabs and attempting to retaliate with an elbow to the frost demon's head. Polar raised his own elbow to intercept and lashed out with a kick that sent his sparring partner leaping back.
He immediately launched himself after the namekian, Piccolo meeting Polar half way. The two vanished for a moment, brief flickers of the two trading blows appearing around the lookout before appearing where they began. The two had their respective fists inches away from their opponents faces, a draw.
Piccolo was impressed. There was a minor, but not insignificant, power difference between him and the frost demon now after he had absorbed Kami. Technically speaking, at the level the two were clashing Piccolo should have held an advantage for most of the spar. Instead, Polar was quite handily operating at the same speed and power.
The frost demon didn't quite have the same power as Piccolo did now. But from how he fought, he had much, much more experience than Piccolo did.
Even if Polar half assed it by being lazy most of the time.
Still, behind that lazy gaze and attitude was a competent fighter, a dangerously smart one at that, Piccolo mused with a grin.
Polar himself grinned back.
"So then, another draw?"
"Mhmm."
It was… nice, having someone remotely similar to himself around. Polar was thankfully silent and focused when it came to this, at least compared to someone like Goku. Gohan was silent, but he easily allowed thoughts to overpower his mind and tended to mutter...it also didn't help that he actually spent too much time with the others.
Vegeta was never going to be an option. Speaking of which...
(Mountains)
Explosions could be heard going off within the mountains, all of which could be heard from nearby towns that feared to go towards the source. In the center of these Explosions was Vegeta, alone.
"RAAAAAAA!" Vegeta roared out, currently as a Super Saiyan as he reduced another mountain to ashes. He huffed out as he reverted back to base. "Bastard…"
He felt like complete shit and not the "I've trained all day" kind of shit either. No. This was something far, far worse. He was feeling…
'No! I'm far from being wrong!' Vegeta shook his head angrily as he tried to push away his doubts. Being a Saiyan, a proud one at that, meant challenging themselves to the very limit no matter the cost. Despite this thinking, the doubt remained and came in at full force. 'Why...why am I feeling this way?!'
Suddenly a picture of Cell came to mind, leaning down to catch Bulma and Trunks with a sick grin on his face. He quickly shook that image away in favor of holding out a hand and firing off a Big Bang Attack in the distance. Not caring for the damage he had done, he turned away while trembleling.
"What...what the hell is going on?" He wasn't asking about Cell or the situation at hand, but rather with himself.
...He needed to keep training. Now!
(Son-Household) (The Next Day)
Raditz and Ranch had achieved their goal within the Time Chamber, allowing Polar and Piccolo to enter it themselves. With that, Father and Daughter returned home in ope to enjoy their time. If only.
"SO YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD BE OKAY TO NOT TELL ME YOURSELVES THAT YOU WEREN'T COMING HOME WITH TRAINING DID YA?!" Launch screamed in the Saiyan's face, the woman currently in her blonde state. Father and Daughter shivered in fear as Ranch held her Father's stiff arm. "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW PISSED I AM!"
"W-"
"I. Didn't. Say. Talk." Raditz clamped his mouth hole as she let out an irritated sigh. "With all this Android and Cell business, you couldn't have said anything at all, not even a phone call? Fuck, I had to hear it from Goku! THE DAY YOU APPARENTLY WENT INTO THAT...that..."
"Tim-"
"Whatever the fuck it is, I don't care. I...crap." She stopped her rant, most of her anger gone. Instead she forced them into a hug, pulling them down to her level. "Forget it, I'm just glad to see you. Honestly...I regret not spending enough time with my daughter, even with all this bullcrap going on now."
"D-don't worry mom. We already made plans for us to spend time together!" Ranch said quickly, earning a shocked stare from her father.
"You did didja?" Launch asked, a narrow glare coming across her face. A smirk soon came up right after as she crossed her arms. "Well, care to share those plans?"
"W-well, dad wanted to keep it a secret! Ya know, until we actually got back to enjoy it with the whole family!" Ranch exclaimed quickly as her mother quickly looked towards her father for an explanation.
"It was nothing special really, just a picnic of sorts with no interuptions." Raditz claimed while looking away nervously. This was all a damn lie and he was being inspected for it greatly!
"Hmmmm..." Launch seemed skeptical, making them sweat harder only to sigh relief with her head nod. "Fine, we'll get that done later. You're not getting to Goku and Chi-Chi anytime soon."
"Yeah, we heard." Raditz mumbled while Ranch blushed in embarrassment. Living next door to family was never gonna be an issue, but by Dende they were loud during their...activities. "I say we leave before they notice us."
"Agreed."
(Capsule Corp, Lab)
"Mother, are you sure that this is a good idea?" Trunks asked, the boy currently back in his old clothes from before. Currently it was him, his mother and his Aunty Tights. There was also Android 16, currently repaired and his inner bomb removed.
"Trunks, am I ever wrong?" Bulma asked sweetly.
'This is a trick question.' Trunks though with a sweatdrop. However his Aunt was far more braver than he ever was.
"Do you want that answer Numerically or Alphabetically?" Tights asked with a smile while Bulma's hand twitched. Her sister even went as far as patting her on the head as she continued. "We love you either way."
"I don't make that many mistakes." Bulma said, a small pout forming on her face. Pushing her sister's hand away, she turned back to the computer with a confident smile. "Besides, I know I cracked this guy quite well. Surprisingly enough, he meant a lot to Gero."
"It did?" Trunks asked with a frown.
"Apparently it's based on his Son, Gebo who was a part of the Red Ribbon Army before he was shot down by one of the King's men. He's honestly programmed to be non-violent, outside his mission to kill Goku." Bulma explained, not showing any sympathy towards Gero's loss. Gebo was also stated to be extremely violent and ruthless, plus him being a part of the Red Ribbon Army that attacked her so long ago wasn't helping much either. "Regardless, the only issue is that programming. It's tied deep down to 16's core."
"So he'll still try to kill Goku." Trunks could only look down at the machine, his fist clenched tightly. He was more than ready to destroy it now.
"Maybe." Bulma said, catching her son off guard. "I remember way back then we actually ran into another Android...Eighter was his name."
"Eighter? As in an Android 8?" Trunks asked, shocked.
"Yup! He completely refused to fight Goku altogether despite his programming. If he can do it, then it shouldn't be impossible for this guy to do the same." Bulma said confidently, noticing her son's unsure stare. "...Look to be honest, with Cell here we'll need all the help we can get. Even if 16 may not look at it, he's strong enough to at least fight with you guys."
"...I trust you, mother." Trunks was still beyond unsure, but the reward was far greater than the risk if everything went well. "Though if he does anything."
"You and the others are way past his level. There really isn't any reason to worry." Tights reassured the Purplette. "If he acts up, just blow him up."
Trunks remained silent, not trusting himself to speak further about his feelings on the matter. Instead he nodded, giving his mother the go-ahead on turning 16 back on. She smiled and instantly began the process of waking 16, merely taking a few seconds before she finished. It was a moment before the Android's eyes flickered with life, slowly rising from his place.
"...Systems Online..." 16 said, looking around the room and scanning his surroundings. He instantly took noitce of the group around him before noticing himself. "I have been repaired...Improved even."
"Yeah, you can thank me for that. Gero may be smart, but I'm a total genius compared to him." Bulma said smugly while Trunks and Tights gave her deadpanned stares.
"I see. Thank you, Bulma Briefs." 16 said, his face still expressionless. He looked across the room, until his eyes landed on Trunks. "...You are..."
"...Can you scan my power?" Trunks asked coldly, earning worried stares from the girls.
"I can." 16's scanners came to life as Trunks instantly powered up into Super Saiyan, his sleeves ripping off in the process.
"Trunks!" Bulma called out, but was ultimately ignored.
"You know for a fact that I can destroy you, correct?" Trunks asked the Android before him.
"That is a fact." 16 said, his tone never changing.
"Then you should know that if you do anything, anything at all to harm any of my friends, my family, I will do it in a heartbeat." Trunks said, his glare never fading. "Goku is still very much alive, I advise you not to go after him if you value your existence."
"...That will be problematic. My sole purpose is the death of Son Goku." 16 confessed as Trunks clenched his fist. However before he could act, he felt Tights grab his shoulder to calm him down. The Android took this as a sign to continue. "I however do not desire his destruction. He is a benefit to this world and all the life that exists on it. He is a good man as far as I'm concerned."
"..." Trunks kept his glare upon the machine before him, no doubt rethinking on if it really deserved the chance. But...he wasn't heartless, not like they were. "...You're safe...for now."
He wasn't stupid either.
Trunks powered back down to base, much to the relfie of the others there. Not long after the door opened up wide as Krillin came in with a panicked expression. "Hey, is everything okay?!"
"Y-yeah, Trunks just had to explain something to 16, that's all." Bulma gave Trunks a side glare to which he at least looked sheepish about. Shaking her head, she stood up and walked over to Krillin. "Which reminds me."
"Huh-OUCH!" He was then slapped upside his head hard enough to knock him to the ground. "What was that for!"
"Oh I don't know...maybe it has something to do with the Remote you destroyed." Bulma's glare instantly put in a fear that would have made the likes of Frieza shiver in fear. "I don't even care that you didn't use it, but I worked days on that to make sure that it worked properly and you just broke it! ON PURPOSE!"
"S-sorry. Really I am." Krillin said weakly, yet having no regrets. He had generally wanted to help 16 and 18, they were just so...human. Still he helped make things worse, something the world was paying for. "Man, I really screwed things up didn't I?"
"Oh don't put yourself down Krillin. We can blame all of this on Gero and Cell as far as I'm concerned." Tights said, placing an arm around her sister's neck. "Bedies, I'm sure Bulma here isn't that mad. Right sis?"
"...No." Bulma sighed out, any real anger gone. "You obviously saw something in them that the others didn't. Heck I bet Goku would've done the same thing."
"Yeah. He would, wouldn't he." Krillin said, feeling a bit better. He then turned to the Android with them with a smile. "So you're back in working order, 16?"
"Affirmative." 16 confirmed with his own smile.
"Well that's good at least." Krillin chuckled. "I can't say I wasn't worried about ya when I brought you to Bulma, but I guess it was for nothing."
"...May I ask what the plan for Cell is?" 16 asked, concerned for what was happening. The others looked at one another for a moment before explaining all that Cell has done since he latest evolution and what everyone was doing. "I see..."
"Can we count on your help?" Krillin asked.
"Of course. Cell must be punished for his actions." 16 said, a glare forming on his face.
"YES! One more for the team!" Bulma and Tights cheered while Krillin sighed in relief. The whole time Trunks remained silent, more than mixed on what's going on here. The memory of the Androids from his time remained in his mind, but he could tell that 16 was being honest with how he felt. Yet he couldn't bring himself to find joy in it...that was probalry bad.
"If you'll excuse me. I'm going to see if Father is willing to train with me." Trunks excused himself as he left the room, leaving his mother to look at the door concerned.
"Trunks..."
"Don't worry, he'll come around. He's just a little stubborn." Tights said, earning a groan from the Scientist.
"Great. He has both mine and Vegeta's genes. He's gonna take forever." Bulma expressed with a whine.
"Well…yeah." Tights couldn't defend that one sadly. But she still managed a smile as she spoke. "I know it will take some time for all of them, but Trunks is trying right now. He knows how important it is that Cell is gone before anything else."
"I know." Bulma said, allowing herself to smile. Her baby was still a genius after all and he would be smart enough to understand...eventually. 'I just hope the Vegeta in him shows up any time soon.'
(With Trunks, Ice-Lands)(Later)
Trunks did not go visit his father. Instead he had flown off in a random direction, deep in thought. So much so, he didn't notice he was flying towards a tree and instantly crashed into it. He shivered as he pulled himself out of the snow, cursing himself for being so distracted.
"Dragonball for your thoughts?" Trunks looked up in shock to see Rukido in front of him while holding his hand up. Taking it, he was lifted up and saw that the Saiyan was wearing a black winter coat over him with orange lining. He was also carrying the Dragon Radar.
"Uncle Rukido. What are you-Wait...the Dragon Balls are back?" Trunks asked, surprised.
"More or less. Apparently Goku went to New Namek and brought back an old friend to be Earth's Guardian. Dende's a bit shy, but he's adjusting well enough." Rukido explained, as Trunks nodded with a shiver. "What brings you all the way out here anyway?"
"I um..got lost in thought. That's all." Trunks said, natural awkwardness coming to him.
"Really? Gotta be some thought if you went Super Saiyan earlier." He took note of the wince on the Hybrid's face. "So what's the issue?"
"...Do you think...think that the Androids could have been good?" Trunks asked, not sure on any better way to word it all.
"Oh. We're having this talk. Hindsight says I should have seen it coming, but at the same time anyone else would have done." Rukido said, rubbing the back of his head with a deadpan expression.
"Huh?" Trunks seemed confused.
"Nothing, nothing. Well...yeah." Rukido said simply, earning a look of disbelief.
"But the deduction they caused, the people they murdered. Even in this timeline. It's unforgivable." Trunks argued, glaring at the ground.
"...Trunks, what do you know about your father?" Rukido asked, confusing the boy. "Right, not much probably, at least not as much Bulma would tell you. Listen...your father wasn't the best man. Not good in the slightest...even now."
"W-what are you talking about?" Trunks asked. His father may have made a mistake with Cell, but...
"Trunks...Your father makes whatever the Androids did in your timeline look like child's play." Rukido said bluntly, not caring for the boy's shocked reaction. "He's helped commit mass genocide and took joy in the lives he's taken, even if it was in the name of Frieza. Goku, Raditz, Gohan, even myself were on his list for beating him the first time. He wanted to kill us."
"That, that can't be true! Father is a-"
"A lot of things right now, but not a good man." Rukido said with a glare. Soon enough Trunks glared as well, their ki's slowly rising. "Quit acting like you haven't seen it, that you have to try and make him proud. He was a cold blooded killer, many Saiyans on Planet Vegeta were because that's how it was."
"That...can't be true. It just can't!" Trunks declared, his clenched fist drawing blood. His father couldn't have been that much of a monster, not as much as the Androids...right?
"It is, but that's besides the point. He's still the same cocky bastard who will risk it all for the sake of satisfying his own ego." Rukido cared little for the glare he was receiving and went on. "You asked if the Androids could've been good. Well obviously so, just like your father."
That caught the Hybrid off guard, not expecting it with how much his father was insulted. "H-huh?"
"Listen. Your father was a lot worse than he was back then, that's a fact. At the same time however, he's getting better. Little by little, but it's happening. You can thank your mother for that one." The Saiyan explained. "The Androids themselves were forced to become what they are thanks to Gero and they're attitude comes from the fact they're practically teenagers with rough experiences and a lot of power."
"They can be good, it just takes time...but that doesn't matter right now." Rukido declared, taking back out the Dragon Radar. "Mind joining us for a Dragon Ball Hunt?"
Wait, us?
"FOUND IT!" They looked up to see Corvus and Gohan landing near them, both with their own coats. In Corvus' hand was a three-star ball, looking annoyed. "Can't believe we ran into a Yeti."
"I can't believe he was so nice about it!" Gohan added.
"I'm still trying to figure out how he has a family." Corvus muttered, only taken out of his deep thoughts by seeing Trunks. "Wait, when did you get here Trunks...and sleeveless?"
"I-it's a new look." Trunks said embarrassed.
"Probably should have worn something longer." Corvus mocked as Trunks let out a weak chuckle. "Anyway, five out seven done. Where to next?"
"Hmmmm...West." Rukido said, looking down at the Radar before floating in the air. "Let's move out, crew!"
"Right behind you!" Gohan yelled, flying up after him. Corvus playful shoulder bumped Trunks before taking off with them. Trunks remained in place for a moment before dashing up to join them.
He always did want to see Shenron after all.
(Kami's Lookout)(Next Day)
Dende looked out from the edge of the lookout, still getting used to his new position as Guardian of Earth. He jumped at the chance to help Goku and the others as thanks for everything they had done for Namek, and didn't regret it one bit. Restoring their Dragon Balls was easier than he expected, even giving it a small upgrade for two wishes.
But that wasn't the important part. What was important was when he accepted the role as Guardian. He felt different upon doing so, new power's coming to him as if they had always been there. Right now, he could see everything. Every living person, every moving object, every sign of natural life, just...everything.
Even...Cell.
'H-his energy, it feels so evil. And his power...it dwarfs Frieza's as if it was nothing!' Dende thought, his eyes widening as he felt multiple people going towards Cell. it didn't take for all of them to vanish either as explosions could be heard far off in the distance. 'All those lives gone in an instant...but it won't be for long. We'll bring them back. We have too.'
He had faith that things would work out once everything with Cell was done and over with. Definitely with the others around Earth. Speaking of which...
Turning around, he felt the newly empowered of both Polar and Piccolo coming from the Time Chamber, more than happy to see them. Judging by they're new power, they were more than satisfied with it. "You guys!"
"Dende, it's been a while." Piccolo greeted while Polar merely stayed silent. "Are you adjusting well in Kami's place?"
"It's...taking some getting used to, but I'm fine for right now." Dende said, only slightly reserved. "You should know that the others are gathering the Dragon Balls right now. Or at least, they should be done by now."
"I see. We'll be able to bring back Cell's victims soon enough." Piccolo said, trying his best to ignore the guilty feeling in his chest. He should have done more, killing 18 would've helped, but Kami still believed in her and thus so did he. "...So Cell's been inactive up till now."
"Seems like he's taking these games seriously. Don't know why he chose to wait like this however." Polar said, not caring for the Android's methods. "Think anyone else will show up?"
"Don't count on it. No one would be stupid enough to actually to go and take up Cell's Challenge." Piccolo scoffed. Meanwhile Dende stayed silent, sweat dripping at the memory of a man with a funny looking...afro came to mind when he was looking over the Earth. "For now though, this is where we part ways."
"Oh? Have any plans?"
"..." Piccolo remained silent, looking away awkwardly as he mumbled something.
"Speak up."
"Fine, Gohan's Birthday is today, that's all." Piccolo managed to get out, doing all he could to avoid the burning sensation on his face. He could feel the old man in him smiling and growled. "If you don't mind, I'm leaving."
"Fine with me. Have fun." Polar said dismissively, watching as the Namekian huffed before taking off to the air. As soon as he was gone Polar turned to Dende, who yelped at the intense stare that he received from the Frost Demon. "...I take it you're adjusting well."
"O-oh! Yes, I am." The Young Namekian said quickly. He wasn't gonna lie, he was scared of Polar. Mostly thanks to his previous experience with Frieza and Cooler, but he wasn't stupid. The Frost Demon was good...as far as he was concerned.
"Good...I'm gonna...just go." Polar said, taking a step back before turning around and floating off the lookout. Dende blinked in confusion before signing and returning to his visual training.
That was...extremely awkward.
(Son-Household)(Later)
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOHAN!" Gohan could only grin ever so widely as he looked at the massive group of people. Naturally his family was here, including his normally busy Grandfather, but also the Future Trio and Piccolo as well. Sadly not everyone could make it, something he could understand and was satisfied for who had made it.
The party itself was small and peaceful, having a large cake and a bunch of presents. A Pricey Telescope, a large amount of books, really cool superhero comics and um...lettuce...his uncle really needed to work on his gift skills. Either way, he had gotten some amazing gifts and was still enjoying it. Even with...Cell.
'...Maybe I should see about training some more...' Gohan knew that he should be relaxing, but the more he thought of Cell, the more angrier he had gotten about him. So many lives lost, choosing to do so with no remorse. In his own way, he was worse than Frieza. 'Mom won't let me go out without a reason...unless I have one already!'
Meanwhile Ranch was awkwardly using an Axe to chop down wood. Chi-Chi wouldn't allow her to punch them to pieces so she forced her to use an Axe much to her dismay. "I can literally break it with my hands!"
"It's not that bad." Trunks said, easily using the Axe to cut down the wood.
"Gee, I wonder why. Sword-Boy." Ranch growled out, earning a weak chuckle from the boy.
"Actually that does bring up a question. Where is that thing anyway?" Corvus asked, just now noticing the lack of the weapon. "I know you found it randomly, but you liked that thing a lot."
"Well..." Trunks looked away while scratching his cheek.
"...Vegeta destroyed it, didn't he?" Corvus asked while the Purplette's shoulders slumped, a depressed cloud over his head. Patting his cousin's back, he let out a remorseful sigh. "We'll give it a funeral."
"It'll have to be a close-casket, nothing was left behind." Trunks mumbled.
"Oh Kami, you two are stupid." Ranch groaned while dropping her Axe.
"HA! Like you're one to talk!" Corvus said with a wide grin. "When Aunty Bulma was giving us "The Talk" you said "My Battle Armor is my Protection!"
"CORVUS! I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU!" Ranch yelled, picking back up the Axe before lunging at Corvus. He didn't even react as it slammed down on his head and shattered. Silently she looked down at the Axe along with Corvus before they felt a dark presence behind them.
Turning their heads slowly, they were greeted with the sight of Chi-Chi with a dark red aura around, blazing with fury as she glared at them. "YOU BROKE MY AXE!"
"Oh...SHIT!" Corvus didn't heisatie as he pushed Ranch towards the ragging Son-Woman and made a run for it. "Not today!"
"CORVUS! WHAT THE-EPP! A-AUNT CHI-CHI! I-I-IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, HONEST!" The Hybrid Scrambled onto her feet, barely avoiding a frying pan thrown by the woman. "GAH! MOM! DAD! HELP!"
"Nope." Raditz said instantly, refusing to get involved with that. Ranch looked towards her mother for help, but unfortunately she had sneezed once more and was now her blue haired self.
"S-sorry dearie." Launch apoligzed softly while Baby Ranch was laughing at the sight. The Future girl would have said more, but she was quickly struck down by a frying pan and left on the floor. "Ranch!"
"YOU ARE GONNA PAY!" Chi-Chi declared, pulling out her Father's Axe from seemingly nowhere.
"SWEET HONEY ICED TEA! TRUNKS! HELP!" Ranch scrambled onto her feet and jumped on the Brief, crying the whole time. "I DON'T WANNA DIE!"
"RANCH CALM DOWN!" Trunks couldn't see a thing as he stepped back. A large stump got in his way, tripping over it, knocking them both over and leaving them in a rather intimate position. Ranch was currently straddling Trunks, the boy having his hands around her and dangerously close to touching her ass. The girl herself had her hands pressed against Trunks' chest, pushed past his vest and gripped on tightly.
Blushes formed on their faces, too shocked and embarrassed to move from the position. Then a yellow flashed shot up from behind them, forcing them to look behind to see Raditz fully transformed as a Super Saiyan, his aura shooting up in the air for all to see.
"HOW DARE YOU! NOW I'M GIVING YOU TWENTY ACROSS YOUR ASS!" Raditz roared out in pure, utter rage. Trunks paled greatly as Ranch hopped off him, her embarrassment growing with every moment that passed. "THEN I'M NEUTERING YOU!"
Oh...oh no!
Trunks hopped to his feet, transforming into Super and flew-no he was running. Running as far, far as he could from the ragging father that had to run after him. Forcing herself to move, Ranch transformed as well and took off after them to make sure Trunks would survive. Right behind her was Chi-Chi, using a Capsule-Copter to chase after them, the axe still in hand. All guests who remained could only look at the scene with sweat going down their faces.
"Tch. I'll never understand how you people operate." Piccolo declared, having no idea what the big deal was.
"Well at least the party is interesting." Goku laughed out weakly. He really didn't think there was a point to explaining it to Piccolo. Feeling a tug on his coat, he turned to see Gohan with his telescope in hand. "Huh? Something wrong buddy?"
"I just wanted to go use my new Telescope somewhere. Would it be okay if I go off on my own?" Gohan asked.
"Well...oh alright." Goku said with a chuckle. Gohan beamed with joy before taking off from them as soon as he could. "Wow, he really wanted to get going huh?"
"Maybe I'll join him." Piccolo mumbled, preparing to fly off as well.
"Hang on Piccolo! I wanna talk to you about something real quick!" Goku said, grabbing the Namekian's shoulder. Piccolo didn't get the chance to respond as he was gripped by his cloak and yanked back, pulled away. "It'll be quick."
"Goku, let go! GOKU!" Piccolo and Goku disappeared in the household. Launch could only sigh with a smile while playing with her child.
What a family she had.
(Forest Clearing)(With Gohan)
"Here should be good enough." Gohan said aloud, placing his telescope in front of a tree. He didn't want to break it after all. Walking into the center of the clearing, he took a deep breath and allowed his energy to flow naturally around him.
.
.
.
He then fired a ki-blast off towards the trees...before it stopped altogether. Gohan smiled as he moved his hand as the ki-blast separated into two before flying away from one another. Motioning his hands, Gohan made the blasts dance in the air with perfect control. Soon enough he made the blasts come together as one before it exploded into a brilliant light and let loose a large flurry of tiny fire-fly ki-blast. They had soon enough evaporated into nothing as Gohan smiled at the sight.
"What a beautiful display."
Gohan yelped at the sudden voice before turning around. Shocked, he could only look on with wide eyes at the sight of Android 16 of all people here. He didn't hear him come up behind him. "Forgive me. I didn't mean to startle you."
"It's no problem, really!" Gohan managed to get over his shock. However he was still shocked. "You're the Android Krillin saved."
"Correct and you are Son-Gohan." 16 confirmed as Gohan nodded.
"Sorry if I'm being rude, but why are you here?" The Hybrid asked.
"I am 100% operationally now thanks to Bulma Briefs and her father. There was no need for me to stay within the facility." 16 explained with an expressionless face. That was until he smiled. "But I do enjoy being out here. It's quite peaceful, is it not?"
"Oh yeah...it really is." Gohan said, taking a look around the area. He mostly chose this place because he knew it was far enough away from everyone, but it really was a nice, silent place to be.
"And what of you? Are you preparing for Cell?" 16 asked while Gohan flinched a bit.
"Y-yeah. It's really hard not too, knowing he's just waiting for us. We only have so much time left before we have to..." Gohan grimaced as he thought of fighting Cell. It was terrifying to say the least.
"...Do you not desire to battle with him?"
"I-it's not that really!"
"You have no need to lie to me." 16 said, honestly. He slowly saw himself down on the grass and looked at Gohan. "Please, relax yourself. It is not good for one so young to be under such stress."
The so-called, soulless machine was reading him like a book. Silently he sat down in front of the machine, not sure what else to do. They sat in silence for what felt like hours before the Android spoke up once again.
"You are like me in a way." 16 began, catching the Android's attention. "While having great power, we do not use it to seek the fights ahead. Rather we would sooner choose to be left at peace, not finding any joy in battle. Am I wrong?"
"...No...you're not." Gohan confessed. He had been avoiding letting it all out for so long, but he couldn't hold it in anymore. "I just...I can't find the same joy in fighting that dad does. Every fight feels like the entire world is on my shoulders and it scares me knowing that I can fail...like I did in the past."
Piccolo's limp body came to mind first, followed up with the one armed corpse of Tien and the faint explosion of Chaoitzu. Another memory came up with Krillin screaming out for his father before being blown up by Frieza. Finally was something that wasn't a memory, but a thought. The thought of all his friends on the ground, dying and bleeding out while his father was the last to fall. The entire time he could imagine Cell's laughter, just as cruel as he thought of.
He hated it.
"...I believe I understand what you mean." 16 said, looking through his records as the boy spoke. "However if you intend to face Cell, you must not allow such thoughts to fill your head. They will hold you back...unless you choose not to participate."
"No, I have to do it." Gohan decided. There was no choice, not when Cell was holding everyone hostage. "I just wish I could be like dad and face this head on."
"Perhaps that is the problem. You are trying to be like your father and take on his reasoning for battle rather than finding your own reason for it." 16 explained, earning a confused stare from the boy. "You have lost friends in the past, haven't you?"
"Y-yeah..."
"Then you have your reason for fighting."
"Huh?"
"You have the same desire as I do. To protect those you care about. That is why you feel the need to take part in the Cell Games to make sure that you can never lose anyone ever again." 16 said it with focus, making sure every word was clear to the young warrior before him. "It may be a sin to fight without cause, but it is not a sin when you fight for what you wish to protect."
"...You're...really wise you know that?" Gohan didn't have any better way to say it. Android 16 despite just being a Machine he seemed Human.
"Hmmm, I suppose it comes with my programming." 16 said, a growing smile on his face. "Which is also why I tell you to relax rather than train."
"But-"
"I do not know how our confirmation with Cell will go. Neither do you nor your father, that is why your father is choosing to rest." 16 explained simply. "Cell is a force of nature that is willing to do anything to safety his needs and has the power to back it up. These days are limited so long as he resides within this world, it best to enjoy those times while we still have them."
Cell at the end of the day had yet to show off his true power and it was unknown if they would be able to take it. Maybe that's why almost everyone seemed to be taking it easy. 'I guess...we really don't know, do we...but...'
"Um...is there anyone you're fighting for? Outside the Earth I mean?" Gohan asked, curiously.
"In a way. I desire to save 17 and 18 from Cell's body. Though that will prove difficult." The Android said honestly. Gohan nodded his head in agreement. "Should it come down to destroying Cell, then I can only hope that they can be brought back with the Dragon Balls...should it allow me to make such a request."
"...I'll help you save them." Gohan said suddenly, catching 16 off guard. "They're your friends right? And you're already going to help us, so it's only fair that I help you as well."
"..That is very much appreciated. Thank you." 16 said, his smile coming in full force. Gohan smiled as well, more than happy to help out a friend. "I thank you for accompanying me, but it is quite late. You should head back home."
"Will you be okay?"
"Yes, I wish to enjoy this place a while longer." 16 confirmed.
"Alright then. We'll meet again later, I promise!" Gohan declared before standing up. He floated off the ground and waved down at the Android, earning a wave back before he took off back home. The Android watched as he disappeared in sight before allowing himself to get comfortable as he closed his eyes.
"He is a good person...same to you for watching over him." 16 didn't bother to open his eyes. From behind the trees was Corvus within his base form and his power suppressed, though there was a hint of green in his eyes.
"..." Corvus said nothing as he looked at the machine for a moment. "...You're not half bad for a machine. Keep it that way for your sake."
The Android could only nod as Corvus took off from the area...
The silence was nice.
(Son-Household)
Piccolo grumbled as he sat across from Goku, annoyed by the fact he was forced to wait for the man to finish up eating. "Are you gonna talk or what Goku?"
"Ah right! Sorry about that, I got a little distracted." Goku chuckled.
"So help me Goku, I will-"
"Piccolo." The Namekian stopped short, hearing the tone the Saiyan was using. It sounded serious, matching the look upon his face. "I really need to talk to someone about this."
"About what exactly?" Piccolo asked, curiosity getting to him.
"...It's about Gohan."
(Chapter End)
Next Time on A Change in Time!
Hello! It's me, Gohan. It's finally time to face off against Cell in his tournament, but it looks like he's had his own very special rules set. I don't know who the guy in the afro is, but they're not strong enough to be here. I hope we can finish Cell before he gets bored!
Next Time: The Cell Games Begin!
A/N: Well that was a lot. Way more than intended, but it works for me. Now I'll be honest, I don't have much to say at this point, other than the fact that I had at least allowed Gohan and 16 to meet properly beforehand. They kinda just bonded over their natures and that was it. Hopefully this makes it a bit better.
But...actually, yeah. That's it. As per usual, I hope you enjoyed, that you reviewed and that you overall had a wonderful Holiday. Until next time and Happy New Years!
Reviews
RARE2000: I'm liking it so far. But Chronoa kicking him out of the time patrol because an enemy empowered by someone who wanted to change time destroyed it is sort of bullshit. If he was just trapped there, and not "kicked out of the time patrol." It would make more sense, he didn't trap himself there. Aside from being caught off guard when an enemy seemingly returned from death, he did nothing wrong. It seems a bit draconian. And if he's part of the time-line and was removed from the time patrol, then Chronoa has no authority over him. He's not an outsider anymore. This is his world now,
Answer: Well I'm at least glad you're liking it. Can't really agree with the "His World" thing, the only help he has is from Time Patrol and their knowledge.
denisegalante1009: When Ultra God Mission comes out next year is it possible Agios who is said to be the previous Supreme Kai of Time before Chronoa will be in this story?
Answer: I will have to see more of her before I determine a role for her in the story.
denisegalante1009: What did you think of the new trailer for Super Hero?
Answer: It's...alright I guess. Glad it isn't Goku focused at least. Not sure how I feel about the new Androids yet, but we'll see.
denisegalante1009: What do you think of the new episode of Big Bang Mission?
Answer: It was...meh. It could have been a lot better.
Guest: What do you think of the new chapter of Dragon Ball Super?
Answer: As of this moment, alright. Just glad Granola isn't sticking to his vengeance, it really wasn't justified when it came to Goku and Vegeta...Frieza's free game however.
Guest: So what do you think of the new Dragon Ball the Breakers game?
Answer: Can't really say I care for it, there are many games like it that I can say that I'd play sooner.
Ushindi: Awesome chapter! So Towa was the one made that orb, she can either make Cell even more powerful and even kill him with her power alone. She's truly one smart and dangerous demon.
Your going to reboot your Fairy Tail story, that is fine. I'm quite curious and exciting to see it coming.

Frieza: What do you mean? You said it's done, what do you mean?
Goku: Your energy level is decreasing with every blow. In fact, you're not even a challenge to me anymore. It wouldn't be fair for me to keep fighting you. I'm satisfied now. Answers:Thank you, glad you like it.
1: Well...Naruto at best could go against Goku from the Ginyu force if I'm being honest. Maybe when he first faces Frieza, but thats it.
2: Well the thing about Celestialsapiens, is that anyone else that is new and comes in is instantly taken to their mindscape. At least that's how it works with Ben and that's the closest thing related to this situation. So yes, he would have to vote, as far as I know.
3: Celestialsapien, at least that's what I think. They just have so many feats under their names that actually make them God-Like. Zeno, to me, is just a "Super Powerful Guy" and that's all he's shown. All he has done is Erase and that's really it. Celestialsapiens are capable of restoring such things and take them as well.
4: I liked it, the episode was meh though. But her name is Agios and she was the former Supreme Kai of Time from what I understand given my sources. As for the Warriors in Black, well one of them called Goku "Son." I shouldn't need to tell you who that is.
5: Disbelief, but after thinking more on it, it was for the best. Not because of the fairness bit, but because of how Zenkai's work within Z. From what I understand, faster healing for Saiyans means a little Zenkai boost. That was proven with Goku on Namek. However OP healing abilities bring out a lot. Cell did not need that Senzu really, regeneration is all a part of him and could easily use it to bring himself back to full power with ease and go far beyond that as shown when he returned from his own explosion. But thats just my observation, not really something to take seriously due to how plot convineces stand above all.
6: Best Friends, maybe not enough to make their identities known, but still friends.
7: There are...so many to go over. So many. But I'll do 3 for right now.
"With Great Power comes Great Responsibility." (Ben Parker: Spiderman)
"...No, you move..." (Steve Rogers: Marvel)(Note: Technically a speech, but I love it)
"War never changes, men do. Through the roads they walk on." (Ulysses: Fallout NV, The Divide)
8: If the whole Universe was there, majorly. Magic there is actually more versatile and useful while also not relying on basic tricks and tom foolery. Not to mention how it would affect Dragon Ball's story as well.
9: Much, much stronger than he is. Back in Dragon Ball these Humans were causally running at 80 Miles Per Hours. Imagine what would happen if current Goku taught Izuku.
10: Well...there's a lot of religious importance with that question, but to simplify it. The Devil is the one who rules over all Demons of Hell. That's the best way to explain it without going off too much.
11: Meh. She exists.
12: Love it. Just love it. Frieza getting what he deserves while actually making it believable thanks to Fu being there.
13: He's Goop-Geta.
14: Well, it depends on the version of the Hulk, but in terms of Banner it would be friendly at the very least.
15: Mostly questions on where their parents are and using the wishing system to attempt to bring them there.
And that's all of them, thank you!
animewatcher202: i get excited for every update to this story. keep up the good work
I am curious about Piccolo and Polar, they don't have any bad blood and can certainly keep up with the saiyand
Answer: Yup, thats pretty much them.
Guest: Will Fu be in this story? If so how will you use him?
Answer: Yup, but I can't say how I'll use him for plot reasons.
Guest: So how many chapters do you think are left for tris version of the Cell Saga?
Answer: Not many, probably around five or so.
animewatcher202: TfS Reference Prt 2:
Trunks: there's literally nothing he can do to make this situation worse...save blowing up the planet
*Vegeta still charging*
He's going to blow up the planet
Krillian: But I live Here!
Cell: Thats much better I can actually feel that
Vegeta: In mere moments all You'll be feeling is OBLIVION!
Cell: That or disappoinment, go ahead and flip that coin
Answer: Yup.
animewatcher202: Poor Trunks, he never stood a chance. Vegeta's pride is the most infuriating yet satisfying thing.
TFS Reference:
Cell: but since I know you're hard of hearing, I'm going to give you one last chance.
You. Me. Hard as you can. Are we Clear?
Vegeta: Crystal! *Starts charging Final Flash*
Answer: Vegeta normally is...
