A/N: The story's not dead! Let's get that out there right now. I know there haven't been any complaints so far, but I feel like I should make that clear before it starts becoming an idea. I just...needed a break from the story. Not because I thought it was going bad, I have plenty planned out, but with what they're doing with Dragon Ball? It's just not good.

DBS has annoyed me before, rarely angry me, but I don't think I've ever raged until I saw the end of the Granolah Arc. Frieza popping out of nowhere, transforming into Frieza Black(Lame by the way), explains he found another Hyperbolic Time Chamber basically, beats Goku and Vegeta in one shot, doesn't kill them and just leaves.

No proper build up, no knowledge of Frieza finding that before, it was so left field and yet so many people are hyping it up. It just hurts to see that this is what it's become. Just one event after another with no good reason to exist. Dragon Ball grew into a cash grab with "fancy" gimmicks to show off and be flashy.

But hey, it wasn't all bad. I actually started up a small idea for a story that eventually did start up. Its' name is "Dragon Ball: Chronicles of a New World" and it already has two chapters by now. I needed something fresh for Dragon Ball and knowing that mess is part of the timeline just made me need something new. Couldn't give up on Dragon Ball, so I made a new one. Regardless it doesn't mean I'm gonna be ending this story, I just needed something fresh and wanted to see where it goes.

But I've wasted enough of your time, enjoy the chapter, but don't expect too much. It is only 3,000 words. Now onto the chapter.

The Otherworld Tournament!

(Otherworld, King Kai's Planet) (Three Months Later)

King Kai hummed to himself as he watched Goku shadow fighting while carrying 40 tons, 10 on each limb. While he wasn't going as fast as he normally would, he was reaching that point with each and every day that passed. It wouldn't be long until he'd have to upgrade to the next set.

He would be the first to say that he was proud of how far Goku had come since he first arrived. From learning the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb, to defeating Frieza and even going as far to sacrifice himself to ensure the safety of his friends and family. It was hard for a master like himself to not respect someone like Goku. Even now he was preparing for what was coming, either from the Universe itself or the Demon Realm.

On the matter of the Demon Realm, he had tried getting help from his fellow Kais, but they were less than willing. If only because they have their own problem across the Universe to worry about. Even the Grand Kai claimed he couldn't do much outside of speaking to the Supreme Kais on the matter and they themselves were busy with a whole different matter. That Shin always held a bit of stubbornness about him, even a bit of arrogance when it came to mortal matters.

Despite that, King Kai himself was gonna keep helping his student anyway he can. If that means cooking for him and helping him advance his power then so be it. Perhaps he could get the help of other warriors and their techniques. He had heard of Metamoran's having a rather interesting technique.

"Hey boss!" King Kai looked up to see Gregory flying up to him with a paper in hand. "Guess who got qualified for the Tournament!"

"Really! Let me see!" King Kai snatched the paper out of his hands and gave it a look over. A wide grin settled on his face before he called out for his student. "Goku! Come down here!"

"Huh?" Goku stopped his training and landed in front of King Kai. "What's up? Did you wanna tell me something?"

"You qualified for the tournament, Goku! It starts in one week's time!" King Kai declared with Goku's eyes going wide.

"Really! That's awesome King Kai!" Goku said excitedly. There were bound to be some pretty powerful fighters there after all. "I got up my training then! Let's go for 50 Tons!"

"Heh, actually let's see you handle 70!" King Kai said while raising his hand. Goku almost dropped by the sudden weight change, but kept himself standing with a wide grin. "Still standing I see?"

"Yeah, I can work with this!" Goku declared before forcing himself up in the air to continue his training.

"That Goku, he never fails to impress." King Kai said before laughing to himself. He was gonna like this tournament, he could feel it!

(Otherworld, Grand Kai's Planet) (One Week Later)

Grand Kai's Planet was huge in comparison to King Kai's, almost being the size of a full blown city. It was understandable given his position, but it was amazing nonetheless. It was here where the Other World Tournament would take place and currently where Goku was to get a good read of the fighters here. He learned that most of them were actually here to observe the fights of the students, much to his disappointment. Still there were plenty of strong people taking part which meant he was at least gonna face them.

As he was walking around, he was thinking about how things back home we're going. 'Heh, heh. I bet they're all working hard too. Gohan and Chi-Chi should be fine too...Goten as well.' Yes he knew of his second son, who was born just the other day! He looked just like him too, much to my surprise. A small frown settled on his face as thought back to them. 'It's almost been a whole year since I died. I know I promised to stay in the otherworld, but it's kinda hard without actually seeing them. Even for a moment.'

However he shook these thoughts away and slapped his cheeks. "I'll see them again one day. Maybe not any time soon, but if it keeps them safe then it's all worth it. They deserve to have some form of peace."

Instead he decided to put his focus on some of the participating fights. So far Goku wasn't overly impressed, if a bit disappointed. It was clear that some of them were trying to flex their power, but that wouldn't even be a threat to Frieza. However it was clear that a rare few were actually restraining their power, much to his excitement. He then saw a rather tall figure, one that he recognized.

"Wait, isn't that-" Goku was interrupted once someone stepped in front of him.

He was a few inches taller than Goku, having green skin, thick pink lips with big red irises with black pupils, and no visible nose. He wore a long blue-sleeved shirt with white gi pants secured with a red sash, brown boots with beige footing and a tall turban-like hat that has a matching golden circle in the middle.

"You are the Saiyan known as Son Goku, am I correct?" The green warrior asked.

"Yeah that's me. Who are you?" Goku asked, confused.

"My name is Pikkon, I am a student of the West Kai as you are to the North Kai." Pikkon introduced himself. "I was told that you were the one who dealt the final blow on Frieza. Is that true?"

"Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I was proud of that. I even tried to spare him at one point, but he didn't listen." Goku admitted with a frown while Pikkon seemed surprised.

"You tried to spare Frieza despite what he's done?" Pikkon asked, a focused glare settling on his face. "Especially when it comes to your homeworld?"

"H-hey don't get me wrong. It was kinda in the heat of the moment and we were fighting on a planet ready to explode. Not to mention I wasn't exactly all there myself." Goku defended himself with a weak chuckle. Who knew what would happen if Frieza actually accepted that offer. He'd probably come back for revenge or something most likely. "Besides, it's not like I actually knew anyone from that planet. I'm just a Saiyan from Earth."

"Interesting...you're different from the Saiyan I met." Pikkon said, his stare relaxing while confusing Goku.

"What Saiyan?" Goku asked, wondering if it was someone he knew.

"A horrible one. You could say he was the reason I died." Pikkon said, making it very clear that he didn't want to go any further into it.

"Right...Well if it makes you feel any better, I died because I teleported an enemy of mine off world before he could blow himself up." Goku said before scratching his cheek. "But I kinda took King Kai and his friends with me though...and Cell didn't exactly die from his own explosion."

"But your home is safe?" Pikkon asked.

"Yup. We have a lot of powerful fighters on Earth. Even my son surpassed me." Goku said while letting out a chuckle. "I gotta work to get on his level."

"You sound like you have a good family. I'm sure they miss you." Pikkon said respectfully.

"I know they do, but I gotta keep getting stronger for them. Even in the afterlife." Goku said with a wide grin. Pikkon matched it, though he held a bit more cockyness.

"You have a strong will about you. Unfortunately it will not help you during this Tournament." Pikkon declared, giving a smirk before walking away. Goku couldn't help to chuckle, his excitement showing.

"No doubt about it. He's definitely stronger than he looks." Goku wasn't sure where to scale Pikkon due to his suppression, but it was safe to assume that he was way out of Frieza's league. "This is gonna be fun. Oh wait! I thought I saw someone I knew here!"

With a kick to his step, he rushed off to see if he could find said person. Unaware of a cloaked figure watching him from a distance. Meanwhile Goku was approaching a fairly tall woman, but not anywhere close to how tall he remembered her. She had pale skin, long black hair and onyx colored eyes. She also wore a large red and white robe over her body and a strange bandana around her head with fluffy balls sticking to it.

"Yo! You're Annin right?" Goku called out while the tall woman smirked.

"Son Goku, it's been quite some time." Annin said while leaning down to face him. "You've grown into quite the warrior since I saw you at Mount Five Element."

"You bet I did! I've gone up against a lot of strong warriors since then." Goku said before looking confused. "But what are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be making sure Earth and the Otherworld stay disconnected?"

"Oh worry not little warrior, I merely split myself into two so I can watch this tournament." Annin explained with Goku nodding. She was a Goddess of some kind so it was believable. "I came mostly out of curiosity of the warriors participating this time around."

"Well it's good to meet you again regardless." Goku said with his normal grin.

"The same to you, Goku. However, I think there's someone else you must meet." Annin said, confusing him for a moment. Before he could get an answer a voice called out for him from behind.

"It's some time hasn't it, Goku."

'That voice!' Goku turned around with shock and surprise clear on his face. "G-Grandpa!"

His grandfather hadn't changed one bit, being the same short, stubby old man with small dark eyes and a bushy white mustache and eyebrows. He was even dressed in the same clothes that he saw him in too!

"Grandpa!" Goku couldn't help himself when he picked up his Grandfather in a tight hug. Spinning around and laughing without a care in the world. Once he finally settled down, Goku let Gohan down with a very tearful smile. "I haven't seen you in forever! How have you been!"

"I've been quite fine, my boy. Quite fine indeed." Gohan said with a kind smile. "Though I think you've had quite the exciting time since we've last met."

"Yeah, it's been a wild ride." Goku said, sitting down across from his grandfather with a wide grin. "I have so much to tell you!"

"Well we certainly have the time." Gohan said, sitting down as well.

From there Goku told him about all of his adventures, the friends he made, the enemies he faced and the family he made. It had been a long few years for him, but he was willing to go into detail for all of it. Gohan listened intently, expressing a flurry of emotions during each tale. Happiness, fear, shock, even a bit of pride. By the end of it, Goku was grinning widely.

"I gotta say, I really didn't expect Goten to look like me, but at least Gohan has a little brother now so that's cool." Goku said.

"I'm still honored to have a great grandson named after myself. I still appreciate it." Gohan said however a small frown settled on his face. "I ask that you forgive me though. I had wanted to tell you about your origins for the longest time, but there just never was a good time."

"It's okay Grandpa, I understand. It really doesn't matter to me that much." Goku said before looking down solemnly. "If anything I should be asking you to forgive me. I did...ya know."

"No need to blame yourself my boy. You had no control over such power back then." Gohan said, waving him off. "Don't keep such dark thoughts in your head, it'll only hold you back."

"I know. I just really wanted to apologize for that." Goku said while rubbing the back of his head. "Guess I was worried for nothing huh?"

Gohan merely chuckled in response, more than happy to have this moment with his grandson. However he soon patted Goku on his head much to his confusion.

"I'm proud of you, Goku. You've come further than I could ever dream to achieve." Gohan said softly with Goku smiling back at him.

"Well I did have a pretty cool Grandpa to raise me!" Goku exclaimed, snickering all the while. Gohan joined him, having a wide grin on his face while Annin watched this with her own smile.

However Gohan soon noticed a cloaked figure approaching them, making him narrow his eyes. 'So you've decided to come along. Let's see if Goku will remember you.'

"Hey." Goku blinked at the rough voice before turning around. It was clearly another guy, standing as tall as Goku with his entire body covered by his clock. "You're called Kakarot, right?"

'A Saiyan? In Otherworld?' Goku thought as he stood up, trying to get a good look at the man. "Kakarot is my Saiyan name, but I go by Goku."

"Goku...Heh, I think I'll stick to Kakarot. As for me." The man pulled the cloak as Goku widened in surprise. He almost looked exactly like himself, his eyes being a bit more focused like Vegeta's, a slightly darker complexion and a cross scar on his cheek. Other than that, he was an exact replica. Even had a cool looking badanda. "You can call me Bardock."

"Bardock huh?" Goku said, feeling...strange for whatever reason while being in front of Bardock. Like a form of familiarity. "Well it's good to meet you!"

"Tch. You're not the normal Saiyan, that much is true. But even I can tell that you have some experience." Bardock said before punching Goku in the shoulder. "Just don't get a big head because I am the one who's gonna beat you."

"We'll see about that." Goku challenged with a smirk. Bardock returned it before he started walking away and disappearing into the crowd. "Man...I wonder who that is?"

'Ah Goku.' Gohan thought while shaking his head. Still it worked out for Bardock's plan in the end, so he wouldn't say anything. "I would like us to keep talking, but I believe the Grand Kai will be coming soon and I must attend Annin's needs still."

"Don't worry, we can talk after the tournament." Goku said with a wide grin.

"Just remember to stay focused, my boy. These warriors are quite powerful." Gohan reminded him with Goku nodding. "I wish you the best."

"I won't let you down then." Goku decided.

"Come along now Gohan, we have to get to our seats." Annin said with Gohan chuckling.

"Of course, Lady Annin." Gohan said, walking with her to the stands. Goku watched them leave while thinking about his opponents. More specifically, Pikkon and Bardock.

Those two were definitely hiding their current strength and it made Goku wonder how far both of them had gotten. He didn't think they were close to Cell's level, but he had a feeling that even the Androids would have been beaten by them. It only added to his curiosity.

It was then where the Grand Kai appeared with a rather...interesting look. He looked like an old man with the exception of the pointy ears, but he was wearing a jean vest with a white shirt underneath, jean pants, a pair of biker boots and sunglasses. He was even carrying a boombox with the widest smile on his face.

"Hello warriors of Otherworld! Are you ready to battle!" Grand Kai announced loudly. An awkward silence came forth, the only thing audible being the music playing from the boombox. Grand Kai sweatdrop at the lack of reaction as a puff of smoke appeared around him revealing himself to be wearing the normal kai attire and his boombox gone. "Well I was trying to make it interesting at least."

'He was trying too hard.' Almost everyone thought.

"Regardless, I welcome all warriors to the Tournament. Unfortunately I wasn't expecting so many of you to actually take part. Which is why I devised a little back up plan in case such an event happened. Eyes in the sky!" Grand Kai announced while pointing up in the air. They all followed his gaze as four fairly large planets came into view, just over the size of King Kai's planet. "You will be split up into groups of four and teleported onto a random planet. After that you all must face each other until there is only one warrior left! Afterwards our final four will face another one vs. one style. Finally the last two will face each other in a battle unlike any other!"

That was...well thought out at least.

"Now let's get this party started!" Grand Kai announced while raising his hand up. The Warriors looked down as the ground shined brightly before vanishing altogether. "Let the Battle Royal begin!"

With Goku he instantly looked around the vast amount of warriors and was disappointed that neither Pikkon or Bardock were here. 'All well, I guess we probably would have gone overkill and hurt these guys if we were all pitted in the same area. I better end these guys fast.'

Still, he could at least test a few techniques he came up with.

Pikkon was sharing a similar feeling, desiring to face Goku due to his deed. Unfortunately he was stuck with decent warriors, but none that could actually make him use his full power. 'You best be ready Goku. Your Saiyan abilities won't help you against me.'

Bardock on the other hand didn't care. To him they were just stepping stones towards the real fight. "Alright come on already. I got more important things to worry about than a bunch of pansies who got used to their afterlife."

The Tournament had officially begun.

(Chapter End)

A/N: Well that's the first chapter for the Otherworld Tournament. Yes, Grandpa Gohan is there. Figured it was a good opportunity to have that reunion happen and with a Dragon Ball reason that works. It goes the same for Bardock, which I wasn't even gonna treat as a surprise. You're smarter than that. As for why he's in otherworld, I guess you'll have to wait till next time.

That's all I have to say, I've said my piece at the top if your curious. Reminder of the new story, "Dragon Ball: Chronicles of a New World." is up right now so don't miss it. Otherise, I hope you enjoyed it, that you return for more and that you have a great day. Until next we meet.

Reviews

denisegalante1009: Have you seen the new episode of Ultra God Mission? What did you think? Like the battle between Goku and the Warrior in Black and the Female Warrior in Black falling in love with Yamcha? Do you think you may do those things in this story?

Answer: Yeah, I've seen it. Not as great as I thought it would be, but it's decent at least. Battle was good and Yamcha needed some sort of win, not sure if I'll do it for the story.

Guest: So are we able to read the old story?

Answer: No, that's been gone for over a year now.

owenwilden: If there was an abridged version of this timeline, what do you think a running gag about Rukido would be?

Answer: I actually don't know, take a crack at it if you want.

Misaka Phenex:bruh stop doing the reply thing it eats chapter

Answer: I've been honest about that since the start and you can easily skip over it.

Answer: Maybe, I don't know yet.

anon9919: the harem is cringe.

Answer: Don't read it then.

Ushindi: Your right, Bojack and his gang was disappointing in this chapter though Bojack's power up was intriguing. At least Polar got warmed up and the prize money. I'm happy for Rukido and Chronoa having a child, I'm excited on what he or she will look like and their power. Cool chapter.

Answers:

1: Hate it, expressed why uptop.

2: Vegeta's. Nuff said.

3: He's the only reason I made it through.

4: Just A. Vegeta yelling at Super Vegeta, who is just waiting to knock him out.

5: Just a lot of british laughter followed up by Saiyan squealing.

6: Erasa: Dumb. Sharpener: Very Sexist and has issues about being forgotten. Videl: Very demanding.

7: More entertaining than his normal self.

8: Just some sort of dumb energy that nearly all the characters express. Sorry, but I would rather not name each and everyone.

9: I definitely wouldn't expect a 5th War to be happening, I know that much.

10: Naruto. He's always held a certain level of strength above Sasuke, there's just a difference between coming at someone with the intent to kill and coming at someone with the intent to knock down.

11: Yeah, it is armor and can be used to enhance attacks. Plus certain enemies who have some bs ability could be touched.

12: Goku, I don't think I need to go any further for that.

13: He should be able to beat down the entire lot of the Chunin Exams. He'd get some real training to prepare him for combat.

14: It is considered Nigh Omnipotence, that alone beats anything in DB. It is a force of nature not some child with a random ability to erase things. I can't really say anyone from DB can handle such a force.

15: ...I'm only gonna do Beat. Red and Black. Fourarms, Feedback, Diamondhead, Waybig, Swampfire, Humungousaur, Rath, Ghostfreak, Heatblast and...The Worst.

Thanks as usual, sorry if the answers weren't too long for some of them, but I don't wanna extend the page any longer than it needs to be.

Guest: I would think that those in charge of those rules would be able to tell the difference between a non-Time Patroller and an actual Time Patroller.

And that rule... when it's a permanent change, especially one that isn't the fault of the Time Patroller? That could easily end up in resentment. And possibly a new Time Breaker. Made even worse that Rukido being kicked out is apparently part of a bigger plan of the Time Breakers.

But nooo, Chronoa apparently is unable to make exceptions, despite being the one in charge.

Elder Kai is an asshole. He insisted on them sending a newbie. I really hope he eats crow later on.

The rule is kind of even stupider when it's "You can't come back ever, but how dare you make changes!"

Answers: She's following rules that I made up and made it her reaction in comparison of her cannon self. I had to start up the story after all and this is far more reasonable compared to other ideas I had.

Guest: I can see Chronoa being VERY angry at Elder Kai. Since he pushed for the 'send the newbie in anyways to an unusual situation'.

Probably going to be a very unpleasant time for him.

Answer: He normally is.

denisegalante1009: Think you might use Ize from Dragon Ball AF?

Answer: I'll think about it. It's a matter of when and at what time, most importantly if I can fit him in the story.
