I read on the Total Drama wiki that Gwen was dared by her brother to audition for the show so I edited the first chapter to reflect that.
If you would please pardon the pun; that night the Killer Hamsters had a killer victory hot tub party but now they were resting in their beds ready to have all the sleep that they would need to be nice and rested after their first day on the show. Well almost everyone...
Ezekiel was standing in the middle of their cabin with a bow in his hand, a kazoo in his other and wearing a backpack. He then ended up playing the kazoo getting the attention of his teammates as they got up mostly quite grumpy but Katie and Sadie were managing to drown it out with their snoring and Lincoln's response was to place a pillow over his head and ears to drown the noise out.
Gwen was grumpily looking at them with with a glare but it was nothing compared to the furious look on Courtney's face as she got up and then looked at the clock. "10 TO 5? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TIME YOU GOT UP ON YOUR FARM BUT YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND IF YOU THINK AM DOING ANYTHING OTHER THAN GETTING BACK TO SLEEP!" Courtney snapped out loud with a death glare as it didn't deter Ezekiel.
"You are free to stay in bed if you want aye but I was born and raised near the wilderness and I want to show off my skills! I am going to go hunting and show the animals in the forest that I will not be messed with! Anyone who wants to come is welcome aye!" Ezekiel said making what was meant to be a dramatic pose as the girls just blinked.
"Yeah I am in! I have gone hunting with my grandpa! We oneshotted a bear with our shotgun!" Owen said jumping out of bed excitedly and shaking the ground making the girls more agitated.
"You know what... I am down! A perfect chance to show the ladies here just how tough I am and that there is more to me than what meets the eye!" Cody said with a sly smirk as he started making some poses much to the rolled eyes of Gwen.
Ezekiel then climbed up to put his head next to the top bunk of the bed where Lincoln was sleeping and put the pillow up to show Lincoln's asleep face. "What about you Lincoln; are you up for turning the new Wild Men of Wawanakwa from a trio into a quartet aye?"
Lincoln managed to open his eyes enough to get a glimpse of Ezekiel but it was clear to most people that Lincoln was just about a quarter awake at the moment; "Ezekiel what... Yeah sure, whatever..." Lincoln muttered as he closed his eyes with the other boys excitedly jumping up and down as Owen went and picked up Lincoln as Gwen and Courtney watched as they ran out of the cabin.
"Lisa, I am not volunteering for another experiment... It was really painful having that tentacle removed..." Lincoln muttered sleepily as he was carried out of the cabin with his arm draped over Owen's shoulder.
"Great... Larry, Curly and Moe have decided to go out there and probably get themselves eaten alive by this stupid alive; pretty much figuratively and literally! Not only that but they dragged Lincoln into this so we are in danger of losing them!" Gwen muttered in agitation as she was getting up from her bed and noticed Courtney about to go to sleep. "So is it going to be up to me to make sure that they don't get themselves killed?" Gwen asked with her arms folded giving Courtney a judgemental look.
"Look; I would love to help you but my CIT skills and sharp mind requires that I get my full required hours of sleep. If you need more help; just call and I would be happy to help!" Courtney replied as she went back to sleep and Gwen shook her head.
"Glad that we can count on you Ms CIT!" Gwen muttered sarcastically under her breath as she ran out the door.
In the Screaming Beavers' cabin Zoey was resting in her bed but was woken up by the sound of excited chanting coming from outside; she rubbed her eyes and got out of bed as she went to look out the window and saw Ezekiel leading Owen and Cody into the woods with Owen carrying Lincoln, their arms up in the air except for the sleepy Lincoln with Gwen angrily chasing after them.
"You idiots get back here! What do you think Lincoln's going to react when he wakes up to find a bear about to eat him!" Gwen yelled out loud and Zoey was shocked at what she had seen. It wasn't just because of it being a weird scene to be woken up by but also because just the previous night, it looked like the Killer Hamsters were more tight than their team was.
"I was really hoping that this would be a competition where we all could be close friends with our team and nothing more than friendly competitors with the other team. But also far we struggled to work together and now I see the other team looking like they could be fighting about whatever this is about..." Zoey muttered to herself and jumped as she noticed Dawn right behind her looking like she was wide awake with her smile and Zoey never having heard her go out of the bed.
"Don't worry Zoey as friendships and comradery takes time to develop; you shouldn't expect us to be working well right off the bat considering our different background. Give it time and we will be able to get to know eachother quite well in the upcoming challenges." Dawn assured her.
"Thanks Dawn; I guess you are right..." Zoey laughed seeing that Dawn had a point despite how creepy she was just appearing before her.
"I saw how lonely you were in your aura and how desperate for friends you seemed to be and was hoping to rush through it so I wanted to help out. Still activities between teammates could help; I plan on waking up early to pick up the litter on the beach and you are welcome to join me." Dawn offered and Zoey gave a big smile and nodded quietly.
"Dawn is kind of creepy but she is being friendly; still I think she could be a wizard..." Zoey thought in her head as they saw Lightning wake up agitated as he put his head up from his pillow.
"Are you going to let Lightning go back to sleep because Lightning needs enough sleep before his morning exercise!" Lightning asked as they silently nodded their heads as Lightning went back to sleep. "I'm not trying to fake it and I ain't the one to blame..." Lightning sang in his sleep underneath his breath.
Owen had Lincoln seated next to a door as they set up traps and a net with Ezekiel loading up his bow and arrow with Cody camouflaging himself with leaves. Owen was trying to mask his scent with a jar of personally collected 'liquid', "is that what I think it is?" Gwen asked as she came into view and took the bow from a protesting Ezekiel. "Do you even know what you are doing with this?" Gwen demanded refusing to let Ezekiel take it back from him.
"Off course aye! I have been practicing my archery and I even made an attempt to hunt a moose for my audition... I did hit my Mum instead but still..." Ezekiel answered as Gwen gave a humorless laugh.
"Great; I have validation to my think that you shouldn't get this!" Gwen replied as she went and picked Lincoln up. "Come on big guy, let's get you back to bed..." Gwen said going in a direction.
"Wait Gwen; stop..." Ezekiel yelled as he went to push them away but Gwen ended up activated a hidden net trap pulling them all into a net and Owen was freaked out and ended up being held up into the air by the ankle from a trap connected to a top branch.
"What the... WHERE AM I?" Lincoln asked waking up only to freak out when he noticed that he was up close to Gwen and Ezekiel in a net.
"These geniuses decided to want to go hunting early in the morning and in your sleep deprived state, you ended up agreeing!" Gwen explained and Lincoln made a deadly glare as he tried to meet Ezekiel in the face.
"Ezekiel... I know you are sheltered and all but still I am in the right mind to do my best to see if I can shove my foot right into your butt!" Lincoln thundered about to move about with Gwen managing to stop him.
"I am sorry Lincoln aye; I promise that I will make it up to ya!" Ezekiel ranted as Lincoln did his best to calm down.
"You know what Ezekiel; as long as we don't get into danger of being found by deadly animals... Once we are out of the net, I will make an attempt to forget all about this!" Lincoln managed to say but still was clearly mad with his new friend.
"Let's try and calm down; you two just watch where you move your hands..." Gwen said as they then noticed Owen moving about trying to free himself on to be end up falling and knocking himself out when he hit the ground. "Great... This just keeps getting better and better..." Gwen muttered shaking her head thinking that if Owen was conscious then he could at least help to free them.
"Don't worry guys; I am going to go back and get help!" Cody said running away in a direction before they could response.
"Gwen... Please tell me that he was at least heading in the direction from which we came..." Lincoln pleaded and groaned when he realised that Gwen was shaking her head as their heads were not far apart.
It was a little over an hour ago and Cody was lost and kept changing directions when he thought that he had seen a bear; he had ended up at the beach where he spotted there was Dawn and Zoey collecting litter to pick up into a black bag. "Hello there Cody; I saw my teammates get up early so I thought why not start my tan as soon as the sun gets onto the beach." Lindsay said next to him.
"That's nice Lindsay but the guys in the Hamsters were out being wildmen and going to hunt but..." Cody replied in a panic but then was open jawed to see Lindsay smiling at him sweetly in her swimsuit.
"Wow; a strong wildman? I don't suppose you could use your strong hands to help with my sunscreen and give my shoulders a massage please?" Lindsay asked with a sweet smile and Cody was under her spell and couldn't refuse.
Zoey and Dawn looked at Lindsay lying down on the sand with Cody being her help; "Wasn't Cody with the other Hamsters boys and Gwen? What could have happened?" Dawn asked concerned as Zoey put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, thinking that it was her turn to reassure her.
"I am sure that they are all fine with their little camping trip and Cody just decided to explore!" Zoey said trying to reassure herself at the moment with her words as well as Dawn.
"How long have we been here... Will we get breakfast... Chef's food was terrible but anything would be better than nothing..." Gwen muttered with the trio feeling their lack of full sleep and being stuck in the net for at least an hour getting to them. Gwen ended up imagining food and sinking her teeth at Lincoln's neck with him giving a yelp waking Gwen up to realise what she was doing before she could really get into a bite. "Lincoln, I am so sorry... I was imagining food and it felt too real..." Gwen yelled apologetically as Lincoln smiled as he tried to wave it off.
"Don't worry Gwen; you know funny story you are only like the 2nd goth girl to try that... When I was 10; my sister Lucy who is really into being a goth herself got bit by a bat at the cemetery when she was looking for new pet bats. She thought that she could turn into a vampire so she decided to try and turn her favourite big brother so that we could both be immortal creatures of the night. She was stopped but when she explained, I felt kind of flattered and went to help Lucy with her poems to pass the time for the grounding that she had gotten." Lincoln said trying to lighten the mood as Gwen and Ezekiel just blinked.
"That is a bit too overboard for goths..." Gwen muttered as they then heard footsteps and the sounds of someone chanting a mantra to himself. They called out and they saw Lightning going for an exercise mantra who jumped when he noticed them up in the tent.
"What are you 3 doing up here?" Lightning asked and Lincoln and Gwen just glared at the direction of Ezekiel as best as they could as Ezekiel just whistled to himself. "Don't you worry; you maybe Lightning's sworn rival team but Lightning is not going to let you hang in there!" Lightning said determined as he helped Owen up and then climbed up the tree to dismantle the net as they went down to the ground not too soft a landing and gave a quick thanks.
"So this never happened right..." Ezekiel asked sheepishly as they got themselves up and Owen noticed them; Lincoln and Gwen looked at eachother and gave a stern look towards Ezekiel before sighing and nodding.
"You still have a lot to learn Ezekiel..." Lincoln muttered as they walked off together.
Dawn and Zoey were now picking up the litter on the other side of the beach as Cody was massaging Lindsay. "You sure look like you are having a fun time Cody." said Lincoln as Cody got up and went to face them.
"Thanks Lincoln; yeah the Codmeister..." Cody said but then noticed Lincoln, Gwen and Ezekiel were glaring at them with their tired eyes and Lightning had took Owen back to the cabins. "Oh yeah, sorry guys... I forgot..." Cody mutter with a fake smile as he shrank. "Look, I will make it up to you... Did an animal bite you Lincoln?" Cody asked concerned as Lincoln shook his head and Gwen sighed.
"No, that was Gwen..." Lincoln said and then Cody blinked and then gave a sly smirk with Lincoln and Gwen's face reddening when they realised what he was thinking. "No! Not like that... You see..." Lincoln tried to explain but Cody put his arm around his shoulder.
"No need to explain anything you sly dog; don't worry I know the 'bro code' and I will support you and Gwen." Cody said assuringly as the two just groaned.
"You all look like you have had a hard morning already; why don't you just go back to the cabins and rest Codykins... I can just sunbathe here!" Lindsay said getting up and giggling with Cody having lovestruck eyes with Lincoln and Gwen shaking their heads as the three went back to the cabins. "So Lincoln and Gwen, I wonder how I can use this... They could be so cute and so fun to play around with..." Lindsay whispered to herself as she went back to her sunbathe.
At the lodge the Killer Hamsters were at their table with 5/8ths of them looking quite tired and quiet except for Owen as he was tucking into his food. "Courtney said that you guys went out hunting. Did you catch anything?" Sadie asked as there were slow shakes of the heads.
"Glad that you all look to be safe but are we just going to file this under 'never speak of this again'?" Courtney asked and there were mutters of agreement. "So ends this the Wild Men of Wawanakwa' then..." Courtney said as she used her iron stomach to start on her breakfast.
Dawn was eating her vegetarian breakfast next to Zoey at the Screaming Beavers' table; "It was nice spending this time with you Dawn; I admit I am weirded out with your magic aura stuff but you are quite nice. I am glad that we have this chance to be friends!" Zoey told Dawn with a smile and Dawn returned it but Zoey noticed the Killer Hamsters' table. "They sure looked like they had been through a lot this morning..." Zoey asked concerned.
"Their auras read mostly just tired and eager to just leave it all behind them..." Dawn commented but it looked like she was concerned as well. "Through Lincoln's aura; I read that he has been through quite a lot with his misadventures with his sisters. So to be dragged into this little escapade... Perhaps when he is rested; we could invite him to join in an activity..." Dawn suggested and Zoey thought that it sounded like a good idea.
A group activity could be what both of their teams needed...
While the 3rd episode of TDI said that they had only been there a day and yet the idea ws that the challenges are every 3 days and we hardly hear anything about what happens on those intermediate days.
The inspiration for the 'Wild Men of Wawanakwa' comes from the CGI revival seasons of Fireman Sam (as someone who was an infant watching the original show, I consider the CGI seasons a fun guilty pleasure) where Moose Roberts the mountain climber and Tom Thomas the rescue helicopter pilot forms their own 2 man wilderness group with PC Malcolm I believe joining in with the latest season.
