Jette thought she knew what she wanted from life. At 57, she thought she wouldn't make the same mistakes that she did in her 20s. But alas, here she is.

It's not like she hadn't thought about Wolfgang on and off over the years. They had even started working together again 5 years ago and everything was fine. Well, as fine as two exs working together could be. And she had her captain. The man waiting for her back on the Island. Or at least she did last time she was in .

" It's obvious to everyone that he still has feelings for you! Why are you going back?" The Captain exclaimed. Since Jette came back from Munich, all they did was fight. She did not sign up for this.

" We are colleagues! That's all!" She would reply. A lie that she would tell her captain and herself.

" I'm done. I have the sea, you can have what you want."

And that was it. A five year relationship down the drain in a single night. But maybe that was just how it worked. Wolfgang and her also broke up very quickly, but she knew they had too. At least she had her own room in and far away from Wolfgang. She couldn't revisit this again. She needed to be professional and polite. Nothing more.

She looked over at the bedside table. 7 am. It was time to head downstairs to the conference room for a debrief of the day and then the performance. Wolfgang would be there. But so would Edina and Heinz. At least they weren't alone. Maybe that's how she could survive this trip, never be alone with him.

" Guten Morgan, everyone." Jette said, making eye contact with everyone at the table except Wolfgang. Although he was much older now, he still had a smile that made her weak in the knees. The smile that caught the corner of her eye and she nearly melted. His hair was gray, but somehow made him even more handsome. Wolfang stood up and immediately pulled out the chair next to him.

" I saved you a spot and some coffee."

Dam, she couldn't avoid him any longer. Not sitting next to him now would be more weird than sitting next to him. She slowly walked over and sat next to him. He was still smiling at her. Why did he have to smile at her? The meeting began. Thank god! She wouldn't have to look at him at least.

She definitely wasn't listening to what Hainz was saying at all. Her head was on another planet. She tried to at least pretend. She picked up the pen on the long table and started writing whatever words she could comprehend. Her hand was shaking. Why was her hand shaking?

I need to snap out of this! Nothing can happen! She thought to herself.

Then, she could smell it. His cologne. THe same musky one he always wore. He had come closer to her. His head was next to her ear.

" You all good, Jette?"

All she could do was nod.

" Just jet lag."

Then, he did the worst thing he possibly could. He smiled at her and put his hand on the small of her back. Her heart skipped a beat. She smiled right back at him and their eyes met. Her heart skipped a beat and all she could do was melt in the moment. But they were in a meeting. With other people.

" Henriette, Wolfgang. Got it?"

Click just like that she snapped out of it.

" Yep, good to go!"

They could not do that again.

The rest of the day, Jette tried to avoid him as much as she could. It wasn't easy. She just stuck to Edina like glue. She was a professional. No fraternizing when it came to her. Before she knew it, it was time to go on and perform. Funnily enough, this was the easy part, at least she thought.

The four of them stood at the top of the stairs, ready to descend. The curtains opened and the music began. Wolfgang took a lead as he began to sing. She let him. She wanted this distance between them. Then suddenly, he stopped. He turned and extended his arm and took her hand. She let him. How could she not? He helped her down the stairs and she never wanted him to let go. It felt so right to hold his hand again. She could live in that moment forever. She never felt this way about the captain or any other man. But she was on a stage in front of thousands of people! One can not forget that.

The knot in her stomach only grew as they performed. She couldn't wait for this to be over. And just like that, it was. She ran off the stage. She needed to get back to her room. She couldn't do this again. Not with him. He had broken her heart once before and she couldn't go through that again.

" I'm not feeling well, I'm going to head back to my room" She told Heinz.

She could see Wolfgang looking on from the corner of her eye. THere was no smile this time, only that puppy look in his eyes.

" Give me a call in the morning, just to make sure you're ok." Replied Heniz.

Her face was flushed, her heart was racing and she was sweating bullets. Jette ran into the bathroom of the hotel room and splashed water in her face.

" Just breathe. He's not here. It's just me. Maybe a shower might help." She proceeded to undress and bath. Jette always loved to water. It cleared her mind. Once she was done, she grabbed one of the hotel robes and laid on the bed.

Knock, Knock.

" Jette! Jette! Are you ok? It's Wolfgang."

Oh No! She knew she couldn't let him in. Not into her room, not into her heart.

" Yes. Just not feeling well. I will be fine."

" Can you let me in? I just want to make sure you're ok."

What could she do? She had to open the door. That didn't mean he had to come in. She cracked the door open slightly.

" See, I'm ok, just needed a quick shower and lie down. Ok bye."

She tried to shut the door on him, but his hand was too quick. He pushed the door open and entered her room.

" Oh, sorry, I thought you were decent."

She quickly looked down. She was still in that robe. This was definitely not helping this situation.

" Well, we were married for 9 years, its nothing I haven't seen before."

" Very true."

He needs to leave. He needs to leave now.

" As you can see, I'm ok. You should head back to the party. I would hate for you to miss it on account of me."

He didn't move towards the door. He just stood there and stared at her. He could always read her like a book. He took a step closer to her.

" No, you're not. You've been acting weird all day. Is there something going on?"

" No. No. I'm ok." She stuttered. " Just jetlagged."

From the look on his face, she knew he didn't believe her. He took another step closer to her. The space between them was almost non-existent.

" That's not true. Is it the Captain?" His eyes averted from hers. He hated hearing about the Captain. She couldn't blame him. He never spoke about other women and she definitely didn't want him too.

" We broke up."

His eyes perked up. A small smile grew across his face. Maybe she should have lied?

" Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." His smile kept growing acorss his face. He wasn't sorry at all. She knew right then and there that this conversation needed to end now before it was too late. She quickly turned on the spot.

"Well, I should probably head to bed." She took three large steps away from him. She couldn't face him any longer.

" Is it something I did? I feel like you've been avoiding me all day"

Jette took a large sigh, she couldn't keep this from him any longer. She knew the divorce hurt him just as much as it hurt her, so why would he want this too?

" I…I… can't look at you. It's too much." She kept her back to him with her arms around her waist. She couldn't look at him. Not again.

" What?" She could hear him walk closer to her and shut the door behind him.

" Every time I look at you, you look like you are still in love with me. I just can't." Tears were welling in her eyes.

" Well, I just won't look at you then, if that's what you want." She could hear the disappointment in his voice. She couldn't reply. A lump was forming in her throat. It was silent. The longest silence in the world. Then, he spoke.

" Because I am. I actually never stopped loving you." Her stomach dropped. He was standing right behind her. She could feel the heat from his body on her back. She still couldn't speak. Her breathing became louder and more hoarse. His hands were cupping her forearms.

" I understand if you don't. It's been many years."

She couldn't resist this anymore. All logic and sense went out the window and she couldn't care less. She turned to face him. His hands were still on her arms. Finally, she spoke.

" I never stopped either."

All they could do was stare at each other. His hands started to trace up her arms and cup her face. He smiled. That damn smile, she thought. Her smile began to match his. His thumb caressed the side of her cheek.

" Your still as beautiful as you were all those years ago"

He leaned in and kissed her. God, she'd missed his kisses. It was warm and welcoming. They slipped back into the same rhythm as they did those many years ago. His hands moved down her back. He pulled her in closer to him.

Jette, finally able to let loose, let her fingers play with his hair. It was still as soft as it was before. He was pushing her, slowly and closer to the bed, never breaking the kiss. They fell onto the bed and Jette's robe fell open. Wolfgang took advantage of this and removed the rest of it. He broke the kiss and looked at what was under the robe.

" Still beautiful." He whispered in her ear. She smiled a wide smile. She couldn't be happier. This was perfect. This was her soul mate. Nothing could stop them now. She knew what she wanted and it was him.
