Tours were nothing new to Edina. She'd been doing this for nearly 40 years and was still loving it. She could do this till she dropped dead. The only things she could do without was the drama that tours tended to bring with them. But she had her one rule, keep your head down and focus on the music. That's all she cared about anyway. In 2005, when Edina was invited to reunite with her old group from the 80s, she thought it would just be her, Steve and maybe Lesilie. She never thought Wolfgang or Jette would want to come back, let alone both. As soon as she heard this, her heart dropped. Of course she was happy to see both of them again, just not together. Separately, they were great. Both lovely individuals. But Edina never forgot all the drama caused by their separation and divorce. Something she did not want to relive. However, nothing seemed to have happened. They continued on with no drama and everything seemed fine. They had been on the road together for a few years now and no major upsets. There were a few tiffs here and there, especially when Henriette would talk about her boyfriend, but that was to be expected. She couldn't blame Wolfgang for being uncomfortable when that topic arose. At least all he did was look down at his feet and fiddle with his pockets. He always did that when he was nervous. Edina recalled how much it would annoy her back in the 80's. His constant fiddling and moving around, like a young child who ate too much sugar. Over the past year or so, his fiddling had increased and she began to question why. Edina was always an early riser. She preferred to have the mornings to give herself time to reflect and meditate. Especially in her later years, she found, this became more important than ever. She would think about her life, love, music and her home. She often thought about Gunther. What he would have been like now as an old man. Would he have been grumpy, funny or still the same man she fell in love with. Their marriage was short and only because of his death. She hated thinking about that day. The day she would refer to as the worst day of her life. She lost her soul mate. She tried dating many years after his death, but nothing ever felt right. It took her to her old age to realize that he was it. That was her other half, the love of her life. And she was perfectly fine with this. Edina knew it was better to love someone with the fire she had for Gunther in a short time, than never love at all. This is what she thought about during her morning time. Sometimes she would sit in her room on the bed, other times she would just go for a walk and think. She needed this time for herself. That morning, Edina thought she would take a walk around the hotel in . She loved these old hotels, with their red velvet carpets and detailed banisters. It reminded her of the old buildings in Budapest. She made herself decent and began her trip along the corridor. She didn't know where anyone else was staying, except for Jette. Since reuniting in 2005, she always asked to be in a room near Edina. She never quite knew why, moral support maybe? She didn't know what it was like to work with your ex-husband. Her husband died. Edina's room was 4 doors down from Jette's. All Edina wanted was to go to the rooftop of the hotel. It was 5:30am and the sun would be rising soon. How beautiful would that be over . In order to get there, however, she would need to walk past Henriette's room and to the elevator. Surly she wouldn't be up yet? Edina pressed the button and waited for the elevator doors to open. She entered and made her way up to the roof. She stood there, in the roof top garden looking at the beautiful sight. The kremlin, the golden sunrise, it was all a thing of beauty. There were two garden chairs angled towards the ledge. She sat in one and left the other for Gunther. She liked to think he would join her in moments like this. She sat and stared. Is this what heaven is like? No, heaven would have Gunther too. Not just in her imagination. She quietly sang to herself. No famous song or chart topper, but just a song for her. She could stay up all day if she had the time. She laid back in her chair and closed her eyes. Not to sleep, but just to bask in the morning sun. It only felt like a moment had passed before she opened her eyes again. Maybe she did fall back to sleep. She looked down at her watch and it was already 7:30! She needed to make her way back downstairs to the lobby. She went to push the elevator doors when she realized that she had left her glasses in her room. She would need to head back there first and then to the lobby. She hated needing glasses, but would be useless without them. The elevator doors opened to Edina's floor. She was not thinking about Jett's room at all, just get the glasses and go. She stepped out and heard the door handle open from the room across the hall. It was Jette's room. " I don't have time for a conversation with Henriette." Edina thought to herself. Though, it was not Jette who stepped out. Wolfgang popped his head out of the doorway, looked to the left and to the right, not even seeing Edina. He stepped out of the door. He was standing face to face with Edina, bright red and fiddling with his buttons. " Edina…Hi… I was just…" All Edina could do was quirk her eyebrow. She loved watching him grasp for words. He was usually so talkative, but in this situation, she knew she had him. " Heading to the lobby? Well, I'll be down soon." He nodded his head. A small smile grew on Edina's face. This was fun. He pressed the elevator buttons to open. She thought she could get one last jab in. " Oh Wolfgang, weren't you wearing those clothes last night?" His mouth hit the floor. He was speechless and had not come back. Edina saunted away, proud of her wits and charisma. She grabbed her glasses from the bedside table and went down to the lobby. She knew to stick to her value don't get involved in the drama, and focus on the music. As long as this liaison did not cause the same issues it did before, she didn't care. That doesn't mean that she couldn't have fun with this. They clearly wanted to make an effort to show they didn't share a room last night. Wolfgang was the first to come down the elevator, then 5 minutes later, Jette arrived. " How are you feeling, Henriette?" Edina asked with a snicker in her voice. She knew this was a cover and knew Jette would need to find an excuse, and quickly. " Oh… yes…" Jette stuttered " I feel so much better now." " Just needed a good night's rest?" Edina smiled and quickly glanced at Wolfgang. " That's it." Henriette moved quickly to the buffet for breakfast, looking down at her feet and avoiding eye contact with Edina. Edina had her fun, but now it was time to be a friend. This situation would be complicated and she knew the worst thing she could do was add to it. She walked up close to Jette and whispered in her ear. " It's ok. I won't tell anyone. Let me know if you need to talk." Jette looked up and smiled at Edina. Edina knew she needed to be there for her friend. Looks like she's about to get involved in the drama.
