Nick and Greg had acquiesced quickly, knowing there was no point in arguing with Catherine after what Sara had said. They left together a few minutes later. Grissom and Brass had stared at each other for a few minutes, before Brass raised his hands in defeat.

"OK, I'm going. But when I get back, you're going back to your hotel room to shower and sleep." He told his friend. Grissom nodded.

"Thank you. I'm not ready to leave her yet." Grissom said, and Brass left.

"You can stay, but you heard Sara. Sleep." Catherine pointed at the cot. "I'll wake you up if she asks me to."

"Catherine, you know she won't."

"She might surprise you. But for now she's asleep so there's no reason for you not to rest." She told him firmly, listening to him grumble as he settled onto the cot and lay down. When his breathing evened out a few minutes later, she pulled out her laptop and set herself up to work. When Grissom started to snore lightly, she was surprised when Sara slowly opened her eyes again.

"It's just you?" Sara asked quietly.

"Nick, Greg and Brass went home to sleep. Grissom's the one snoring over there. Can I get you anything?" Catherine asked.

"I'll try some juice." Sara told her. "It was just too much with everyone at once." She admitted, and Catherine realised Sara hadn't actually gone back to sleep.

"I can kick them out longer if you want, or limit it to one at a time." Catherine told her, as she brought the cup of juice and straw to Sara's mouth. "You must have heard me, you're the boss." Sara took a small sip.

"Thanks." She took another small sip, then shook her head slightly and Catherine placed the cup on the table nearby. "Tell me everything." Sara closed her eyes.

"I think you'll need to talk to your doctor. They haven't told us a whole lot."

"I mean how you got Grissom back here." She said.

"Oh that... um. When Nick called me, he had found your medical power of attorney after you were taken to the hospital. And I guess it felt like the only thing we could really do to help was to get him back here, so we could get more information from your doctors if nothing else. I think Archie found his number, and Hodges had his email address so we bombarded him with texts and emails, and asked his lawyer to as well. Eventually he got the messages and spoke to the Doctor, and agreed to come back. I spoke to his boss, and they organised to get him back to San Diego and I got him a flight back here." Catherine explained carefully.

"He just agreed to come back?" Sara asked doubtfully.

"Dr. Mark can be pretty persuasive. And I'd organised for him to be picked up before I spoke to him. But Sara, he wanted to come back. You can tell he still loves you."

"But can he forgive me?" She whispered quietly.

"Look, I won't pretend to know what happened here. That's between the two of you. But trust me when I say, he wants to be here. You heard me try to send him back to the hotel and he wouldn't budge. Whatever happened, Sara, something has changed. That is a man in love. And maybe this was the wake up call he needed." Catherine told her. "Now, the nurse asked me to let her know if you woke up again. Should we press the buzzer?"

"No. I'm going to sleep now."

"Have a bit more juice first, ok? I know you'll want to get out of here as soon as you can and to do that, you need to eat and drink." She held the straw to Sara's lips again, and Sara took several small sips.

"Thanks, Catherine." Sara said groggily.

"Any time. Do you want me to hold off visitors for the rest of the day?"

"No. It's ok." Sara's eyes closed again and Catherine knew she was actually asleep. This time, she settled in to work.

Several hours passed quietly, and Catherine felt like she was finally getting caught up. Grissom was still asleep but restless, and she knew Brass would be back in a few hours. She stood up to stretch, and paced the room a bit when Dr. Mark stuck his head in.

"Hi Catherine. How's she doing?"

"She was awake earlier. Asking a lot of questions about what happened. Got her to drink some juice." Catherine told him. "Hey Sara, do you want to wake up and meet your doctor?" She called out, making her way to Sara's bad and gently tapping her shoulder. Dr. Mark entered and shut the door behind him.

"Hello Sara. How are you feeling?" He asked, sitting down next to her. Both he and Catherine were surprised when Sara's eyes opened.

"Better." Sara said. "When can I go home?"

"Not yet. We need you to be a bit stronger, and we need you eating and drinking." He told her. "I'm Dr. Mark, and I've been treating you since you came in. Catherine said you've had some questions about what happened." Sara nodded. "Do you want Catherine to stay while we talk, or would you like to wake your husband?" He asked.

"Catherine can stay. Let him sleep." Sara told him.

"OK, so you were brought in initially after your friend found you unconscious at home. As I'm sure you're aware, you've lost quite a bit of weight and I imagine you haven't been eating much. You were extremely malnourished and that was wreaking havoc on your heart, liver and kidneys. Initially we treated the electrolyte imbalance and then the malnutrition to try to get those under control. We did speak to several of your friends to try to piece together what had been going on, and we also spoke to your physician who gave us more information so we could treat you. Unfortunately, we missed an infection that had formed into an abscess, and it burst. When that happened, we needed to quickly get you into surgery. We were able to get the infection and damage from the rupture cleaned up though, and you've been steadily improving since." He explained. "There's no reason you shouldn't make a full recovery." Sara nodded, taking in the information. She had dozens of questions but realised she wasn't sure she was ready to ask them with Catherine there. She had no idea how much her friends knew.

"I'm going to be ok?" She asked carefully, and found herself relieved at his nod.

"Yup, you should be fine." He reaffirmed. "Now I'd like to examine you if that's alright. I need you to tell me what hurts or if anything doesn't feel right, ok?" Sara nodded. "OK let's start with your feet. Can you move them for me? Good. Now let me know if you can feel this?" He gently tapped different parts of her feet, each time eliciting a nod from Sara. "OK and try raising your leg for me. Yup, and bend your knee. That's great! Much better than last time." The exam continued in much the same way, with Sara able to move the various parts of her body as directed, and normal sensation returning. He had her look away and close her eyes as he removed her bandage to inspect the incision and then quickly redressed it. "I'm really happy with your progress. I think that if you're feeling up to it, I'll have a physical therapist come in to get you up and moving this afternoon." Sara nodded. "Great. Now do you have any questions for me?"

Despite all the questions swimming around in her head, Sara shook her head and closed her eyes.

"Not right now. I think I need to sleep."
