The Owl Sisters I: Sisters in Demon World Chapter 5-Covention
Eda and Celstia were cleaning their Human Collectibles stand while King read
Luz's favorite book out loud.
"Wow, this book has a flair for drama doesn't it?" King exclaimed.
"Sure it does, furball," Lana agreed.
"More reasons why me and Lana love it so much," Luz said. "And the artwork makes it even better.
Luz showed King the book artwork.
"Ha! I can draw better than that. You know, they once called me the King of Artists."
"Wait, I thought you were the King of Demons?" Lana raised an eyebrow. "Are you making things up?"
"No!" King waved them off. "Does it really matter? What's important is that my followers would leave me offerings in fear of me!"
"By that you mean more snacks."
"Well I can offer you more of this tantalizing book."
"Ugh," Eda groaned. "Please stop reading that, its depiction of magic and witches in direct insult to actual witches and driving away customers!"
"Uh, we don't have any," Celstia gestures that no one was there.
"Crap, something terrible must be going on," Eda said.
"Luz! Lana!"
The twins lookup as Gus, Willow, and Sunset ran to the stand up.
"Hey guys. What's up?" Lana said to them.
"It's the annual covention," Willow held up the poster in their hand. "Student witches get to see types of covens before they're placed in one. There's even some special guests."
"A job fair for witches! Eda, can we go?" Luz asked.
"Absolutely not," Eda denied her.
"Why not?"
"I never joined a coven for a reason. Sure it's like a fun club for witches, but you're also magical independent to be a part of a crooked system. In any case, I haven't been to one since we were kids."
"Wait a sec, who's we?" Lana asked. "You have a dark past! Now we have to go!"
"No. It'll be a complete waste of time."
"Come on, Eda, can at least show them different kinds of magic," Celestia tried to reason with her.
"You can't make me."
Celestia snapped her finger and King grabbed the book and started to read.
"No it's so awful," Eda shuddered, then had open her portal key to human realm and jumped inside not before Lana toss King into the portal as well.
"3, 2, 1," Lana counted down as the portal door open up with Eda having King of her head.
"Stop it! I will do anything to stop this!" Eda pleaded.
Lana crossed her arms with a smirk, fist bumping her sister.
A few minutes later they arrived at the conference center, and Eda groaned loudly, pinching the bridge of her nose as tried to get her cowl in control.
"Is this hood really necessary?" Luz hummed, still rubbing her hair.
"You think all my wanted lists are for petty theft?" asked Eda, finally managing to tuck her hair into the hood. At that moment, several stolen items fell to the ground from her hood. Causing a moment of silence. "Somewhat. But the big whammy is I disobey the law and refused to join a coven."
"As for me, I was in one before I got cut," Celestia added.
"Meaning if they see us, we could go to jail again."
"Perhaps this informative event will inspire you to join the coven," Willow said with one of Eda's wanted posters. This infuriated Eda, and she did a little circle spell. The spell pulled a hood over Willow's face.
Let's just get it over with," said Eda, completely unenthusiastic about everything that was going on. Then they went inside, and the brother and sister were amazed at what they saw.
There were different booths everywhere with different draperies hanging from the ceiling, they were level, witches and witches flying through the air on brooms.
"It's... Like Comic Con only with magic," said Luz with wide eyes.
"Yeah..." Lana agreed.
"These are the basic nine covens ," Gus began as they stepped inside. "But there are hundreds of others you can join."
Willow began listing those she knew. "There's the Coven of Flowers, the Coven of Artists, the Coven of Big Dogs, the Coven of Little Cats, the Coven of Tiny Cats..." She was interrupted by Eda's annoyed groan.
"Also the Grumpy Coven," she whispered, but Eda heard her.
"What was that?!" It made Willow shriek as she and the others ran forward.
"Geez! Eda calm down you act like those covens killed your husband or something,"said Lana.
"Actually, I was married," replied Eda. "In Vegas until I robbed him."
As they continued walking and looking at the bleachers, Luz stopped and pointed at something. "Oh, what's that?"
She pointed to a muscular witch wearing a helmet. Behind him stood two large stacks of wood and bricks. Beside him stood the Tiny Nose who is obsessed with conspiracy theories.
"This is the Construction Coven," Willow replied as they watched him take two pallets full of materials and toss them into the air. And just like that, a small house was built in seconds. " One of the basic nine. They use power glyphs to increase their power." Now they watched as the blacksmith removed his helmet, revealing a small stack of stickers. Putting it on, he tore off the plastic and slammed it on the nose of his head.
And then it started acting like a character from Dragon Ball. "Ha-ah!" She threw the warlock into the air. "I'm the destroyer of worlds!" Then she started rampaging.
"Hey, that's the opposite of building!" protested the worker as he and others tried to stop her.
"Yowza-wowza!" said Luz, still stunned by Tiny Nose's rampage. Suddenly a blue copy of Luz appeared behind her.
"What the?" Said Lana as she and Luz watched the copy walk up to the other coven. It waved at them before disappearing, showing that it was controlled by two other apprentices of the same color as Gus. The sign of their coven was a hand mirror.
"Ah! You fell for the coven of illusionists. We like magic with a hint..." said Gus stepping forward and making his own magic circle before vanishing into the smoke. Then he reappeared a few feet from where he was originally. "... of spectacle."
His colleagues painted behind him, then bowed together.
"Wow! Acceptance? The camaraderie? A sense of belonging? Covens sound incredible!" Said Luz with a wide grin.
"Okay, that's pretty cool," Lana laughed.
"Eda, why didn't you ever join them?" Luz asked her.
""Watch closely, Luz." The Owl Lady pointed to the Illusionist's booth. "When you join a coven, all your other magic is sealed." One of the members put his hand on one of his new members. He left a coven mark, causing blue marks to spread all over the kid, making him look a little pale.
"From now on, this child can only create illusions. Since I've never joined a coven, I can do all kinds of magic." before he unfolded them. "That's why I am the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles," she said, leaving the children in awe.
All except King, who was stopped by some random hand.
"What?" He turned and saw that it was a witch dressed in a hexagonal uniform, her long-sleeved shirt and purple stockings.
"The tea leaves protrude. That it will lead you to your destiny." She twirls a pen in her fingers and puts it in his paws. It was from the Fortune Teller's Coven.
"Destiny? А! I don't pay for..."
"It's free-eh-" she said, backing away eerily, making gun motions with her hands.
"You're giving me gifts?" King agitated. "Yes! I accept your offer! The King of Demons is back!"
Meanwhile, with the rest of the group, they saw a whole group of people walking toward the panel in particular. His flag was a triangle covered with markings, a sword with wings and an orb in the middle. There were other draperies of birds sitting on branches facing each other in the opposite direction. And there were six other figures wearing white hoods and silver bird masks.
"This panel looks popular," Luz commented, judging by the way it looked, which made Gus gasp in shock.
"It's the Emperor's Coven!" He turns to Willow. "Do you think they're going to paint my forehead?"
"Wait, what is the Emperor's Coven?" Lana asked.
"Only one way to find out!" Sunset said as she, Gus, Luz, and Willow went ahead.
"Aren't coming with us?" Lana asked Eda and Celestia.
"Hell no, of all the covens, they're the worst."
"How come? And what magic can they do?"
"All of them. And I'm stepping a foot in there."
"I get it, Eda. Covens are bad. Individualism is good. But I'm still figuring out this world, so I'm going to go out there and make my own decision, okay?" Said Lana as she went after them.
But it didn't last long as both Eda and Celestia realized that someone had snitched on them focing both of them to follow inside.
Now they were in some big old-fashioned theater, but for some reason it also resembled an arena.
"Okay, let's see this mess," said Eda, sitting down next to Luz and Lucio.
The lights began to dim, signaling the beginning of the show. Music began to play as Principal Bump from Hexside emerged from the green column of energy. The spotlight illuminated him as the crowd began to applaud and cheer. He then made a small magical circle, creating a microphone with bat wings.
"Hello, Bonesborough! The students keep asking me, 'Principal Bump, what is the height of magical achievement?" - Bump addressed the crowd.
"Is it this?!" said one of the students, before casting his own spell that enlarged his head to a freakishly large size. His neck, however, could not support its weight and bent. Crushing the other apprentice.
"Wow. I failed you as principal," Bump said, grimacing at that. Then he grabbed the microphone. "He was chosen to join the best of the best. And there is none better than the jewel of the coven system and the doers of his will, the Emperor's Coven."
When he said this, three soldiers of the Coven emerged from the floor in front of Bump. The crowd greeted them and clapped their hands. The twins were startled by their appearance before Willow and Gus got their attention. The two friends pointed to Gus's head, signed by the coven.
"Admire this elite force; each member is hand-picked to help usher in a new era of controlled magic," Bump said. The crowd watched as the three coven members raised their fingers and drew their own circle of spells. Shoot separate types of magic into the air, such as water, fire, and lightning. Combine together into a great fireworks display.
While her students were thrilled, Eda was less than impressed. Leaning toward the occasional monster, she asked: "When will this elite squad get here?" The Owl Lady began laughing at her own joke after slapping herself on the knee. The monster recoiled from her.
"Members of the Emperor's Coven have access to all...yes, all forms of magic. Uh-oh. Uh-oh." - Bump said as the crowd, for some reason, copied his "oohs" and "aahs." "But... only the best can ascend into these ranks. Someday it might be one of you!" He pointed to someone in the crowd.
He points directly to Amity and Mio making both of the squeals of excitement.
"What is she doing here?" Lana was surprised to see her but noticed Mio. "What with cat-ear chick?"
"That's Mio Blight, Amity's twin sister. She's just as good as Amity," Sunset explained.
Then the three coven soldiers grabbed their cloaks by the corners and lifted them at the same time. Making them magically disappear as Bump continued to make his acquaintance. "And now it is my pleasure to introduce the esteemed leader of this coven and this year's mystery guests. Please give a warm welcome to Lilith and Luna.
While everyone else gasped in shock and excitement, Eda and Celestia had a different reaction. Eda stopped laughing and looked shocked at the mention of the names, while Celestia gasped.
Suddenly two figures appeared right next to Bump.
It turned out that she was a tall, slender woman with ivory skin, pointed ears, dark turquoise lips, long indigo hair and a large forehead. wears a two-tone dark gray dress with long sleeves and dark gray boots with laces. She has dark gray claw-like fingernails and a sky-blue jewel in the shape of an inverted kite on her chest.
Next to her was a Alicorn hybrid with a captivating presence in the magical world of The Owl House. Luna possesses dark blue eyes that twinkle with mystery and her hair is a dazzling cascade of starry indigo. She adorns herself in a dark purple dress, adorned with a moon badge.
The crowd cheered and Luz clapped, Lana noticed both her teachers had shocked looks.
"You know them?"
"You could say that…"
"Thank you all," Lilith said with a slight smile as both used their magic to remove their masks and cloaks and gave it to Bump.
"It wasn't easy for either of us, we both had started humble beginnings," Lilith said.
"Now both of us have the highest honor of enforcing the emperor's will," Luna added.
"So be stronger! The Emperor's coven awaits you!"
Turning, Lilith made another, much larger raven appear, which expanded and then exploded with a multitude of glowing spheres. Surprising everyone in the crowd as they cheered her on all except for Eda and Celestia who glared at them.
After they left the arena, the twins were about to explore when they noticed that Eda and Celestia were turning right and about to leave. "Where are you going?" Luz asked.
"We're out of here, need to wash the con funk off of me," Eda told her.
"Does this have anything to do with the two ladies?" asked Lana
"That's not what I want to talk about. Now if you'll excuse me" said Eda and walked away again. But was stopped when Luz grabbed her arm.
"But we haven't even passed the test to determine the type of coven we are!" - Luz said, picking up the book. Eda replied, using her magic to make a hole in the page and the two walked away.
"Your loss," Lana simply said
"Um let's just keep walking around here" Lucio suggested and they walked on "Oooh, a punk potionist." Said Luz looking at her book.
And then something bumped into them.
"Hey! Look where you-" Lana stopped when she saw that it was Amity and Mio
"You look where you-" Amity turned around and cut her sentence short when she saw Lana and Luz. "Oh, it's you...Willow's abominations."
"Hello, Your name is Amity? And your Mio?" Lana asked them. "Sorry for the little debacle at Hexside last time. Also were humans. Look, we got off on the wrong foot. The name's Lana."
"And her sister, Luz." Luz held out her hand only for Amity to slap it away.
"Ugh. Put it away." She said, "You two got me in trouble with Principle Bump. And I've never been in trouble."
"To be fair, you were okay with him trying to dissect my sister," Luz reasoned.
"And your sister gave me a black eye," Amity repiled.
"You had it coming for almost dissecting me and bullying Willow. It's us humans called instant backlash bitch," Lana said to her.
"You two can't be here! This conference is for witches only!"
"Last I checked, there weren't any No Humans Allowed signs anywhere, apple hair . And we are learning how to do magic with two powerful witches and a fierce demon."
"You mean him?" Mio gestured to King who decked out in merch.
"You were talking about me?" King dressed and held a cupcake running up to his friends. "Oh, hey! Look at all those suggestions... Wow!" Eventually he tripped over his long scarf and dropped the cupcake. While Luz went to check on him, he got up to grab his cupcake, but Amity stepped on it.
"Ouch. That was an accident," she said with a smile, not regretting what she did then.
"What are you being so mean?" Luz glared at her.
"Because you both and your pet are ruining the reputation of witches and witches in training."
"I'm not a pet!" - King said, scratching himself with one of his hind legs, while Lama cradled him to her chest.
"He's a very good boy. And a Demon King!" Lana told her. "And my friend! It's one thing I can't be a witch…"
"Cause you can't."
"But it's another thing to bully my friends and my sister. And lady you crossed it! Which means I challenge you…. To a witch's duel!"
Then everyone gasped at what they heard.
"Well, then…" Amity was about to agree.
"You're on," Mio stepped in.
"Mio, what are you doing? I can handle this" Amity asked.
"Sis, I know you can, but I'm not letting you get into this," Mio firmly said to her then confronted Lana. "Name your terms."
"Well, the big sisters are taking charge. Fine by me. As for the terms, If I win, Amity has to apologize to the King for crushing his cupcake and both of you have to admit that humans can be good as witches.
"But if I win, both you have to tell everyone that you two are not witches and you have to stop training forever."
"Fine. Let's shake on it." Hearing this, the witch doctor grimaced and slapped his fang. Meanwhile, Mio made a spell around Lana's hand and shook it.
"The eternal oath is sealed." She informed her and let her go, the light disappearing.
"It's probably okay," Lana said, not fully understanding what she had just done.
"Meet me at the theater in an hour." With those words, The Blight sisters left. "Let's see what kind of witch you really are."
"Boy... I-I can win this, right?" she asked nervously.
King chewed what was left of the cupcake and stopped. "Hmm? Oh, yeah. No". He didn't have the slightest concern for Luz and Lana , whom he had just motivated, and he continued to eat his muffin.
"Well, crap!" Lana's face palmed.
…
…
Back with Eda, she and Celestia were trying to find a way out.
"Sister?"
Both of them stopped in their tracks and turned to see Liltih and Luna surrounded by several Hexside students.
"It's been so long since Luna and I saw either of you, " Lilith said to them. "What are you wearing? You look like a trash collector… oh wait you are."
"Oh, Lilly. I just had to see the leader of the Emperor's Coven in action." She knelt down to the children's level. "You know, when we were kids, Lilith was so excited to see them that she peed a little." The children laughed, Celestia snickers, and Lilith blushed with embarrassment.
"That...is all for today." Lilith gently nudged them forward and waved them goodbye. Before turning and glancing disapprovingly at Ida. "You shouldn't even be here. You're a wanted criminal!" Her eyes widened at the thought. "Unless..." She sighed with excitement, grabbing her younger sister's hands. "I don't believe it! You're here to join the Emperor's Coven!"
" In your dreams! "
Lilith narrowed her eyes as she heard her sister's reply. "You think your lack of convocation makes you so much smarter than everyone else. But while you run away from the law like a degenerate. I'm mentoring the next generation of influential students in this world."
"Well, both me and Celestia have students. And I bet either of them could wipe the floor with any of your prissy little blue bloods."
"Is that a challenge?" Lilith asked her.
"No,it's a promise," Celestia chimed.
"Where are they?" Luna asked then not second to soon both twins pop between the quartet.
"Celestia, I need your help! I got into a fight with Amity and challenged her sister, Mio to a witch's duel. And if I lose, me and Luz can't learn magic," Lana pouting out all the information and panting then Lilith got a closer look at both of them.
"Well, your students have met our best students," Lilith said. "And look at those ears! Are they human? Where did you find one of these?"
Luna got the better of Lana which made her surprise.
"Why do you look at someone I've seen before," Luna thoughted to herself as Lilith burned the wanted posters.
"All right, Edalyn. For one day you won't have to hide from the law. Because I want to see how good a teacher you are." Lilith and Luna walked away.
Luz, seeing that she was gone, said. "What was that all about?"
"It doesn't matter now," Said Owl Lady kneeling down, putting her hand on Lana''s shoulders. "Come on kid, it's time to get ready for bloodshed."
"Any ideas on how to win?"
"Nope."
"I'm screwed."
Much later…
"Okay, Lana, let's start your training," Celestia said. "Now I'm coming at you with a blast of fire. What do you do?"
"I dodged it and counter with Dragon Threat," Lana replied.
"A Little Basic, but good."
Then both of them saw Mio training as she was able to summon an abomination and it started to spar with her, Mio easily kicked it with little effort.
"I give Luna credit, she taught her well," Celestia said.
"Damn it! I let my big mouth get the best of me, and now If l lose big time, Luz and I will be humiliated and we can't learn magic," Lana paced. "But I have taken Abominations before but no telling what other tricks she might have."
"Lana, listen to me," Celestia placed a hand on her shoulder. "We're not going to let these snobs win that easily! We're not going to let them win at all. You've been working too hard to lose all of it. You're going to show her what you can do!"
"Yeah, I'm not going to let a cat lady make a fool of me!" Lana nodded.
"That's the spirit!"
"So what's the strategy? I mean we can't pull a cheat card," Lana said.
"Right. Here's what we can do, with the light spell you learned it helps in the long run," Celestia suggested.
"How on earth is it supposed to help me?" Lana asked.
"Well on its own it's useless but combined with the trident it may give you edge."
"Really?" Lana summoned Dragon Threat holded out upright.
"Yes. When we last spoke, my friend told me that this sword is made from special material that allows it to repel magic."
"Dragon Threat is an anti-magic weapon. Did not know that."
"I didn't either. Even more so when he told me the material can elemental magic. Just draw the glyph and attach the paper to your trident. Use it as your trump card."
"Got, teach. And while we were on the topic of glyphs. I think I found another one."
"You did? When?"
"Some time yesterday I was practicing with the trident at some point and at some point I saw a glyph, different from the Light Glyph. It was shaped like a lighting bolt."
"Mind if I take a look?"
Lana ignited the trident. Celestia examined it and to her surprise, her student was right. There was another glyph that was different from Light Glyph. The glyph was blue with a lightning bolt in the middle.
"You're right. There is a glyph and it's not a light glyph. I can't believe I didn't see that," Celestia then sees Lana pulling a piece of paper and drawing the glyph. "What are you doing?"
"A little magic experiment. If this glyph is different from the light glyph then it has to have a different effect right since it was the first one the trident which gives the power of electricity so that means this glyph can do.."
The glyph becomes fully outlined which creates a ball of electricity.
"A lighting spell! That's quite a shock!"
"Nailed it! I can't wait to show Luz this, she will go total nerd. Now I manage to close the gap with Mio."
"More than that, I think you're given your 50-50 chance to beat her."
"Say, Celestia can ask something?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"This friend of yours who forged the trident, who was he exactly?"
"His name was Archer."
"Archer?"
"Yes, he was a close friend to me, Luna and Clawthorne sisters, he was a student at Hexside in the Weaponry Track…. But I can tell you about him later, right now we have duel to prepare."
"Right."
Celestia summons her own blade and the two begin to spar each other to form the witch's duel.
By now an hour had passed, and, as they had agreed, everyone met in the theater.
"Good citizens, The Emperor's Coven proudly presents an impromptu demonstration of the sort which we seek every year. Introducing Mio Blight.
Mio stepped up with a confident look which made the crowd cheer for her.
"Yeah, go Mio!" A fan shouted just Lana came with a determined look
"Versus some human girl."
"I have a name, you old bat!" Lana shrieked at her.
Much later both Mio and Lana come face to face in the arena as the bell rings.
"I wanted to show that snob, Amity, a thing or two. But I have to deal with you, it's a way of showing what happens when you mess with family."
"That's funny," Mio cracks her knuckles. "You took the words right out of my mouth. But enough talking, let's get started."
Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric- Battle with Metal Sonic
Mio did a spell circle and prepared for battle.
"Abomination. Rise."
An abomination came out and to Lana's surprise it was huge. It towers above both of them.
"What… the… hell?"
"I knew I was strong but never like this. Show me what you can do!" Mio grinned.
"Have no idea what's going on! But I do know this!"
Lana brings out the Dragon Threat then gritted her teeth.
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall!"
The Abomination brings down its fists to smash Lana, which she rolled out to the way. Then its hand formed into a scythe.
"Did not know it could do that."
It proceeds to slice Lana, but she brings her trident to block it then Lana musters the strength to push it off and jump out of the way. Then she ran into it and tried to slice it which it did and it became a puddle of goo.
"How did you do that?! My abomination is huge! How can a trident cut through its thich skin?" Mio asked her.
"The material allows it to repel and absorb magic."
Lana swung on another abomination making goo out of it.
"Yeah, that's my sister!" Luz cheered.
"Hell yeah, way to show them, sass bucket!" Eda came in as well.
Mio glares at Lana then draws two spell circles to bring out a pair of disc-like weapons that surprises Lana as Mio gets into a battle stance.
"You're the only one with a weapon, human."
Captain Falcon vs Johnny Cage (Death Battle-Falcon Uncaged)
"You want to make more than a witch's duel. Okay, bring it sister!"
"I couldn't agree more!"
Lana and Mio charged at each other, weapons in hands. The two engage in a clash, exchanging rapid blade strikes. Both were neck and neck as they landed a hit on each other.
The crowd is in awe, especially Willow, Gus and Sunset.
"Wow! Lana is doing great!"
"Yeah she's actually holding her own!"
"This is amazing!"
Lana brings down the trident and Mio barely blocks, crossing her Moonblades. Mio gathers her strength and pushes off Lana and tries to slice her but she parries and they exchange more strikes. Lana thrust her trident only for Mio to knock it away then Lana flips the handle and smacks Mio in the chest but throws a punch in to smack Lana. Both are sent sprawling across the grounds but regain their footing.
"Not bad for a human."
"Now, you took the word right out of my mouth," Lana said as they once engaged in a deadly crash.
"Things that are free are giving offerings to me!" King enters as he is loaded with stuff. "Did I miss anything?"
"Lana's in a witch's duel!" Willow told him.
"Yeah! And she can win the whole thing!" Gus exclaimed.
"Weh?" King went as saw the duel.
Lana goes in and does 3 sword strikes but Mio gracefully dodges the first and deflects the others with her Moonblades. Lana slashes again but Mio jumps back keeping distance from Lana.
"This I gotta see!"
"Uh, Eda, what's going on?" Luz asked.
"I think the silver hair snob picked on Lana's fighting style," Eda said, making Luz gulped.
With Luna she was pleased with what her apprentice was doing.
"Good job, you are adapting to human fights and changing your approach," Luna said.
Mio sended energy slash from her blades to send Lana back a bit.
"Got to give credit, she's picked up fighting style and counter attacking with ease. But that ain't going to stop me!"
Mio created 4 abominations and all of them converge on Lana. Lana easily sliced through all of them then went for Mio but rolled out of there just as the crowd took a blink. Lana tried to strike at her, Mio jumps back to avoid making Lana get frustrated.
"Damn it! How can she react so quickly? I can't even get on her!"
"What's wrong, human. Struggling a bit?"
"Don't count me out yet, cat ears. I got a lot of tricks in my sleeves."
"Tough talk, care to back it up?"
Mio charges, tossing one of the Moonblades. Lana deflects it and blocks the second one, then Mio catches the first and slams Lana's trident, the force sended her back. Mio did fast strikes that Lana ducks, blocks, and evades before bringing down her trident. Amity crosses her chakrams to catch and redirects her trident to break the lock. Lana did two slashes but Mio cartwheels to dodge it.
"Man, Mio so fast that Lana can get a hit," Sunset said from the stands.
"She's fast… make the wrong move and I'm dead. There has to be an opening."
Mio lunges for Lana, thrust her Moonblades moving her trident out the way to deliver a back kick to the stomach that sends her stumbling back. Lana recovers and slashes only for Mio to knock her trident. They exchange more strikes and lock blades. Lana pushes Mio off and she jumps back.
"Wait a minute… Her moves are like a rhythm. She attacks for a couple seconds then makes distance to dodge my attacks.I just have time it right."
1, 2, 3, 4… 1, 2, 3, 4!
As soon as Lana countered to four, Mio lunges only for Lana's trident to get her face much to her shock. She quickly backed away waiting for Lana to strike but to her and the crowd Lana didn't do anything. She stood there like a statue, staring at the trident faced away from her.
"What the… She's not even looking at me.
…
"What is that human doing?' Lilith asked as the crowd murmured in confusion.
"Lana!? What are you doing!?"
"Why's she just standing there!?"
"She figured it out," Celestia smiles.
"1, 2, 3, 4… 1, 2, 3,... Now!"
The moment Mio gets close, Lana slashes her in the stomach. Mio cries out in pain and is sent back making everything gasped in shock.
Amio stumbles back, barely regaining footing as she groans and clutches her stomach. She gasps in shock when she has a cut in her stomach.
Wasting no time, Lana lunges and when Mio tries to defend, the human girl slices her and she cries in pain when a cut forms below her elbow too. Lana follows up by sending a moonblade flying in the air with an upper slash. She jumps and delivers a kick that sends Mio flying and screaming. She hits the ground hard and her moonblade sticks to the ground in front of her.
"How do you do that?"
"Simple, your attacks had a pattern. All I had to do was figure out the timing."
"Try to predict this!"
Mio charges at Lana, snagging her other blade from the ground and the two clash again, exchanging fast strikes again. Lana launches a quick swing and thrust Mio barely parries.
"What's wrong, cat got the tongue?"
"Oh, shut up human!" Mio face went completely red.
"I have a name, whiskers!"
Lana and Mio charge each other and engage in another as the entire audience erupt with cheers.
"Just who is this human? That face is like seeing her from someone else?" Luna wondered.
"I love it when Lana mocks her enemies," Eda smiled.
"My sister has a knack for doing it. She makes her trademark," Luz said.
"Lana's is getting under skin," Sunset said.
"Yeah, this is thrilling to watch," Willow added.
Mio and Lana engaged their weapons then pushed each other then Mio created another Abomination.
"Lana!" Celestia called her out, making Lana turn into her. "Combine the Light Spell with your trident!"
"Well might as well give it a shot."
Lana brings out a paper with Light-Glyph drawn on it. Mio looks on in confusion.
"What's that supposed to do?"
"Let's find out!" Lana pressed the glyph against Dragon Threat. It turns into an orb of light and the trident absorbs it. The Light-Glyph appeared embedded on the blade for a second then the trident was coated in light. "Whoa!"
"It's beautiful!" Willow exclaimed.
"It can absorb magic too!?" Luz exclaimed. "That is amazing.
"Okay, I'm impressed."
"You're going to be even more impressed with this move! Eat this!"
She aims the trident at the approaching abomination. Light energy gathers at the tip and fires a laser beam which makes the abomination explode which sends Mio back making her fall to the ground hard, covered in bruises and burns. She got up and started to breathe heavily.
"How do you like me, now?"
"Not bad, but not great."
Mio did another energy slash just as Lana did another laser blast. The laser overpowered the slash and struck Mio. She screamed in pain as she crashed into a wall. The dust cloud settles, and Mio drops to her knees, groaning in pain. When she looks up, Lana's right in front of her, pointing her trident at her.
"Do you yield?"
Mio growls as she holds the side of her stomach until she sees goo behind her reform into an abomination, which she smirks confusing Lana.
"What's so funny?"
"Behind you."
Lana turns around only to be smacked by a reform Abomination sending her to the other side of the arena being covered with some goo.
"Taking cheap shots? And yet I'm not surprised."
Lana puts on her scarf then sees the electric glyph was now on it.
Rhea Ripley- Demons in your Dreams
"Let's see what this one can do."
Lana slaps the electric glyph, causing it to glow purple. Dragon Threat becomes engulfed in electricity.
"His sword changed form again!?" Amity couldn't believe it.
Luna watches, shocked and for a brief second, in Lana's place she sees a demon boy who looks like her wearing a Hexside uniform, the sleeve and leggings being purple.
"Archer?" Luna gaped.
Lana aims the electrified trident and sends out a blast of electricity. Mio screams and gets out of the way in time the blast exploding against the wall. She gasped as Lana did a continuous stream of electricity. Mio ran around her , the blast following her and damaging the wall, she flips above the blast, then does an energy blast which Lana deflected it just as Mio landed on her feet.
Break Through it All-Sonic Frontiers (Vs Wyvern)
They did a battle cry and charged at each other. The crowd continues cheering at the sight of the awesome battle unfolding before them.
"Maybe I was wrong, maybe Lana can win after all," King realized.
"Go Mio!" A fan wave a foam finger/
"Hey! You root for Lana or nobody!"
Both Lana and Mio continued to fight on even grounds as neither could land a hit. Mio sweeps Lana off her leg then tries to slice her but Lana rolls out of it then does a swing from her trident to knock one of Mio's Moonblades leaving her with one.
"Ready to give up!"
"Never! I won't give up to the likes of you!"
Mio lunges at Lana and punches him with the moonblade making him wince in pain then followed with a double kick that sends her into the wall. Lana reels back and unleashes a volley of lightning bolts which hit one of them hitting Mio hard and send her to the ground hard. Both rebound and collide at each other with massive slash.
Both stood there for a couple of minutes then suddenly Mio collapsed to the ground losing her grip on her Moonblades.
Luna, Lilith and Amity were shocked to see Mio knocked down. The entire crowd were stunned that one of Hexside's top student was defeated by human.
"Who-hoo!"
"Yeah! She did it!"
"Lana won!" Willow and Sunset wrap arms as King and Gus high-five.
"In your face, moon girl!" Eda pointed at Luna.
Mio lifts herself up, groaning in pain. She gasps as Lana pointed her trident at her. She couldn't believe that she was beaten by a human girl.
"I win," Lana told her just as Amity and Luz came down and helped both sisters up.
"How on earth did you beat me?" Mio asked. "You're just a human weirdo."
"There more than meets the eye of us weirdos," Lana said as Luz stuck her tongue. "So ready to apologize."
"I'm not letting either of you make an embarrassment of us!" Amity growled as she too created an Abomination that was just as tall making Luz hide behind her sister.
"Lady of guts, huh? I respect that, Shame that you come off as a jerk. You want to go, let's…"
"Hold right there!" Everyone looks to see Celestia and Eda approaching the combatants.
"What are you guys doing here?" Luz asked just as Lilith and Luna arrived.
"Is there a problem, sister?" Luna asked.
"Yes, there is a problem," Celestia told her
Then Eda grabbed something from Mio's hair revealing a Power Glyph.
"Care to explain this?" Eda shows the glyph to them then rips off of her. "A Power Glyph from the Construction Coven."
"You cheated!?" Luz asked Mio.
"No I didn't! I didn't think it was there," Mio confessed.
"If you didn't cheat then that would mean…" Lana said that it came to her then pointed to Lilth. "It was you! You put a Power Glyph on Mio's neck without Luna's knowing just before the duel!"
"A-ha!" Eda began to perform a series of victory dances. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" She turned to her sister. "You cheated. Magnificently, the pampered Lilith cheated. Hot damn I love coventions!"
Lana looked at Mio feeling somewhat sorry for her that she was pulled into sibling rivalry between Lilith and Eda. Just as Lana approached her she runs to her.
"Mio!" Amity, Lana, and Luz went after.
"Welp better go after them," King said then comically fell down the stairs. "My offerings!"
Eda continued to dance around and Lilith was about to snap. "Stop acting like a child!" Lilith grew increasingly irritated with her little sister.
"You've failed, don't get hot, fix your stinking face," she rhymed, putting Lilith on a meltdown level.
"Rhyme one more thing," she growled in a very threatening tone. " Try it!
"Oh, it's okay, I'm done." Eda waved her hand, but lied. "Because my rhymes are exhausted!"
"That's it!" shouted Lilith, summoning a fourth of her own white staff, spinning it around, producing blue energy, and hurling Eda and Celestia right into the theater catwalk.
The audience gasped at this sudden turn of events. As for Eda, despite the blow she received, the lady owl smirked. " There she is! "
"Just had to set her off?" Celestia glared
"What, I like pushing her buttons," Eda sheepishly smiled.
Then both of them and Luna summoned their staff.
"Witch's duel!" Someone said the pair of sisters prepare to fight.
Just outside of the theater…
"Hey guys," Luz and Lana found the Blight girls near the bathrooms.
"What do you want?" Amity snarled.
"Look, we just want to talk. I'm sorry for what happened," Luz said. "Neither of us never meant to embarrass you."
"Well you did, at school! And now this by beating my sister!" Amity shrieked.
"It was never my intention. I hate you alright, but not enough to humiliate you like this and drag your sister into this," Lana confessed. "I was defending my friends!"
"But you cheated by using that trident!"
"Amity, there weren't any ground rules to begin with," Mio reasoned. "I can handle a draw."
"Draw nothing! You would've lost without that sword! Say it! Neither of you are witches!"
"Alright, you got us! We're not witches," Lana admitted.
"Neither me or Luz belong here. Hell, even back home we were freaks to most people." Lana had a glum look on her face then Luz did a light glyph and holded a light orb.
"But that doesn't mean we won't stop trying," Luz said.
"To be honest I have never seen a light orb cast like that," Amity said.
"It's quite beautiful," Mio added.
"It doesn't come naturally for us, so we had to improvise it. We may not be witches like you two but that doesn't mean we tried to become one our own way."
Mio traces out a spell circle and drags Lana's hand into it. Their hands glow briefly, and the circle disappears.
"The oath is unbounded."
"So can we do magic?"
"No, humans have no magical ability but I don't that'll stop you."
"And it really hurts to admit that maybe I was wrong about you."
"Maybe you're not so bad yourself, Blight."
"I have to admit, you impressed me. It doesn't make friends but I have some respect for you. Good luck on the training.
Both girls left them…
"Call me crazy, Luz, but maybe Amity is not a jackass after all," Lana said to her.
"Luz! Lana! You left me!" Said King as approached them.
"Yeah, I'm sorry," Luz apologized. "Your feet are so tiny. Should we make you more offerings?"
"No. This thing was just weighing me down," King replied, not caring. "But I have something for you, Luz. And it's the best, because it's free, comes from my heart, and I always have more than I need."
Luz gasped at that. " Is that love? "
King made a look of disgust. "Ugh! No!" He pulled out a congressional bag. "Bags! And there are so many uses for them!" He leaned over her arm and climbed inside like a chihuahua being carried in a purse. "Away, beautiful chariot! Away! Now let's go home! I'm starving." he commanded, causing Luz to stroke his head.
"We have to go," said Eda, joining them along with Celestia
"How did you escape Lilith and Luna?" Asked Luz.
"Let's just say they had a real "snack attack." She laughed and snorted at her joke. "Wait, I have a better joke. "
"Eda... Do you think I'll ever be a real witch?" asked Luz.
"What? I don't know." She replied. " Who are the real witches and wizards? Those suckers? According to them, it means being in a coven, but I've never joined one, and I'm better than all of them put together. You should be your own witch, Luz . "
"My own witch." She repeated what her mentor had said
"Now let's go before our sisters realize I tied her pointy-toed shoes together." They all heard Lilith scream in the background.
"And that's our cue!" Everyone headed for the exit to avoid the trouble they had already found.
"Wait! There your sisters?!" Said Lana confused.
Eda grinned. "Oh, you think that's all I've got?" she asked amusedly. "Wait till you hear about my parents."
Luz was surprised to hear that. "What!? Do you have parents? I need to know more!"
"Hardly!" interjected King.
In the convention center, Lilith opened the door leading to the dressing room. She stumbled because her shoes were tied together.
She hummed, getting back up. "You make it so hard to want to help you, Edalyn.
There was some kind of pendant with the symbol of the Emperor Coven on the table. It swung open, making her gasp in surprise. The pendant was almost like a small communication screen.
On the screen was a female demon of miniature stature. Her full-length physique is rather diminutive, she has the size and appearance of a small child, though her arms and legs are shaped like bird claws, with red skin, large pointed ears, and dark red claws. Instead of hair, a large dark turquoise hand covers her head with light turquoise claws, acting as bangs that cover her right eye. Her remaining left eye is round, with a dark brown iris and yellow sclera. Her arm hair ended in a hand-like bundle tied at the back of her head with a black hair band, giving her hair the appearance of joined hands. Her robe consisted of a white robe with grayish-yellow highlights, a collar covering her mouth, with a yellow ribbon around her neck and a triangular shoulder area. Beneath this robe is a dark gray tunic with black bracelets on the wrists.
"Lilith, I see you've let Owl lady take over your temper," she remarked. "Just remember what Emperor Belos promised you."
Lilith made a small gesture, bowing her head. "I'll get her, ma'am. You have my word."
"Very well." The demon smiled, disappearing from the mirror, allowing Lilith's reflection to appear.
"Your days are numbered, Edalyn."
