I do NOT own any of the characters or LOTR or anything related to it.
Please note that there are mentions of incest in this story. I will put warnings before there is anything sexual. Please enjoy! This has been in my mind for many years now and I am finally getting around to writing it... This is a rewrite of chapter 1. I realized that I left a few things out and am adding them in. Sorry.
It had been a year since Elros and his twin brother, Elrond, left the care of Malgor and found their way to the city of Lindon. It was here that Elrond said he felt more at home, being in a city of Noldor elves, but to Elros, he felt quiet the opposite. Lindon did not feel at home but felt like a foreign city where everyone knew he didn't belong. Upon arriving, they had the chance to meet the ruler of the city, an elf by the name of Gil-Galad. He confirmed what each twin feared the most. They were both close to coming of age which meant choosing if they wanted to be counted as a first born or choosing mortality. Deep down, Elros knew in his heart that he would not be staying amongst the first born even if it meant leaving his twin's side. That did not scare him, but it did scare him to know that his brother would be alone after everything they had gone through. If Elrond choose the first born, would he be okay by himself, or would his heart break knowing they would never be together again?
Sitting down on a bench, Elros sighed as he watched the city go by. When a couple holding a small infant passed an idea came to him. Maybe what he needed was to find his brother a friend, if not a lover before he left this immortal city. Finding a friend should not be too hard to do, but in a city full of old school elves, finding his brother a lover was going to prove to be difficult. Paying even closer attention to the elves that passed by, he noted that most seemed on the older end, with the occasional younger elf. He was so distracted by watching others that he did not realize a young silver haired elf had sat down beside him, dressed in fine clothing.
"Are you waiting for someone?" he asked causing Elros to jump.
"Kind of, but I am not quite sure who as of yet."
"Then I will be on my way," the silver hair elf said standing up as Elros grabbed his wrist quickly.
"Wait, please don't go. I would enjoy the company if you don't mind," he said watching the other sit back down. "Are you new here?"
"Not entirely. My father and I arrived in Lindon when it was being built. And you?"
"A year ago, my brother and I arrived…" Elros paused not wanting to say too much.
"Are you two close in age?" the blonde said pushing his hair out of his face.
"Very," he smiled knowing how rare twins were and not wanting to draw unneeded attention to them. "What's your name?"
"Thranduil, son of Oropher. And you?"
"Elros, son of Eärendil."
"Eärendil is your father? You are a half-elf."
"I…" Elros paused. "Yes, my brother and I are half-elven."
Elros felt horrible for giving away part of their secret, but till this point only Gil-Galad and Andreth had known who their father was. He sat silently as he refused to look up, praying Thranduil also didn't know that they were twins.
"You don't look to be half man, but that of a full elf," Thranduil smiled as Elros looked up at him.
"My brother looks just as much elf as I do. If you ever get the chance to meet him, I think you two would be good friends. But that takes getting him away from his books. He loves to read," Elros laughed softly.
"What's your brother's name?"
"Elrond," Elros smiled as the merchants started to slowly pack up for the day.
Thranduil could not help but smile in return. In his mind he kept telling himself that he wanted to be friends with these brothers and not just friends, he wanted a friendship that would last. He knew that his father would not approve of it, but he was not his father. Seeing the merchants start to pack up, he knew he better be heading home or his father would be very unhappy with him.
"Till we meet again, Elros," he said softly as he stood to leave.
"Tomorrow… At the same time?" Elros asked causing Thranduil to pause.
"I would feel honored. Bring your brother too," he smiled.
"Meet me here and I will do my best to bring him. He doesn't get out much," Elros responded as he watched Thranduil nod before moving into the crowd.
As Thranduil disappeared, Elros kept his eyes on the area. He knew it would be like pulling teeth to get Elrond to agree to meeting tomorrow, especially out in public. Glancing around him, he finally stood with a smile on his face as he turned towards Gil-Galad's castle and the room he shared with his brother there. He already knew that his brother would be in there reading a book or in the High King's library with his nose in one. Stopping by a small shop, he checked with the merchant that ran it to make sure Elrond did not have any new books ready for pick up and that there was nothing new in stock before heading on his way. Upon reaching their room, he entered silently as he shut the door behind him and watched Elrond for a moment. His twin's features identical to his own, but in his mind, Elrond was the more beautiful of the two of them. Sitting on the edge of the bed, Elrond kept reading.
"Your presence has been requested tomorrow, dear brother," he said softly.
"By whom and where?" he asked turning his attention away from his book.
"Thranduil, son of Oropher," Elros said as he moved to sit next to his twin. "He wants to meet you around this time tomorrow in town."
Elrond thought about this for a second before turning back to his book. He had no desire to meet this Thranduil, nor did he have any desire to be seen in town with his brother where people would realize they were twins. Why did Elros believe he would want to?
"I am sorry, but I am too busy."
"With what? Your books and studies like always."
"Maybe…" he answered knowing his twin was right. It was nothing more than an excuse to not go.
"What can I do to convince you to meet him?" Elros asked kissing his twin's cheek softly.
Elrond sat still for a moment thinking of what he would want. He finally turned and kissed his twin's lips in return.
"A new book and a journal," he answered knowing his other half would not deny him.
"Deal," Elros agreed before pulling Elrond into his arms. "Let's enjoy tonight."
Elrond smiled as his fingers left the pages of his book allowing it to close on its own as he was pulled into his twin's arms. His arms quickly went around his twin's waist as he leaned into him.
"Only for you," Elrond's smile made Elros' heart beat fast. "Our secret."
