Chapter 5: Turning Point
Dear Sprig,
I'm not sure why I felt the sudden urge to write this letter. I know there's probably not much chance of this getting to you if what Sasha says is true, but… I don't know, I just feel like I need to get all this down after everything that's happened.
It all started a few hours after you left for Newtopia. The ground started to shake, and a whole bunch of somethings launched from the direction of the Ruins of Despair. It was hardly the first weird thing that's happened since Anne showed up in Wartwood, but still.. something about this felt super significant. But none of us had any idea what it meant until two days later. Everyone was wondering when you guys would finally get back to Wartwood. I mean, how long would it possibly take to send Anne and her friends back home? You can only imagine how confusing it was when Marcy's bird finally came back with only two people… and none of them were Plantars! Instead, it was Captain Grime and Sasha, who should have been back in her own world by now!
They spun this crazy story about how the King had gone insane and turned Castle Newtopia into a flying fortress, and that Anne and the Plantars had gone on some sort of secret undercover mission to take him down, sending the two of them back to defend Wartwood. Maybe a bit sketchy, sure, but if Anne trusted them who were we to argue?
The next day, I was supposed to bring them some scones from the tea shop but I ran into Maddie along the way and she said not to bother because Sasha was on a low-carb diet, so I didn't see either of them until the next evening when Sasha called us all together in the town square. She told us she hadn't actually been sent to guard us, and that she had no idea where you guys even were, that you'd been zapped away to some unknown world, but that now that she was here, she'd do her best to protect us from the coming army. I didn't know what to believe at that point, but we didn't really have much time to ponder about it because this huge thing landed right in the middle of town. It was kind of like that Frobo of yours, but much bigger and golden. And then it started shooting these smaller green guys that started swarming all over the place. Sasha took out a couple but soon they started weighing her down, and even after Grime showed up, the golden guy just started to spit the green guys out even faster.
Well, you know Wartwood. We may be slow to accept and even slower to respect, but when we see someone putting themselves on the line for us, we're not about to let them go down without putting up a fight of their own. The whole town jumped into action. Frog, even Mayor Toadstool was beating up on the green guys, while Sasha and Grime took out the big golden guy. It was the coolest thing I ever saw.
So, Wartwood is now officially the heart of the resistance against the King. Or should I say New Wartwood. See, we had to move underground to those secret tunnels under your house. We've moved practically the entire town under here! We've got everything you could possibly need… an armory, a hospital, exercise and training facilities (you should see Loggle lately, he is ripped), and, best of all, we've got us.
It'd be a lot more fun with you here, though. Hope you guys are okay, wherever you are. Hey, wouldn't it be crazy if you guys were stuck in Anne's world? And you were getting into all these wacky frog-out-of-water shenanigans and stuff, and she was the one who had to take care of you for a change? Hahaha, what are the odds of that?
Gotta go now, Grime's gonna show us kids how to use a catapult. Or maybe a trebuchet? I can never tell those apart.
Resistantly yours,
Ivy
A.N.: Yeah, a short chapter, but Ivy wouldn't have been there for all the delicious Sasha angst, so what are ya gonna do?
Jose: Thanks, hope you like what I did this chapter. What am I gonna do for "Olivia and Yunan"? You'll see.
Next: Thai Feud
