Xander had some shocking news for the group. "We found out, Jesse and Willow got snatched by vamps. The Slayer managed to save Willow, but not Jesse. Which means Jesse's either a vampire or just dead."
"Pray he's just dead." Jessica said. "We've barely gotten started on this and already our plan is in jeopardy. What are we going to do?"
"How did he get taken?" Jesse's father, James asked. '"I taught him how to recognize and fight vampires myself."
"I'm thinking it has to do with Willow. Maybe he hoped to try to protect her. She has no clue about any of this or she didn't until last night."
"How long has it been at this point?" Margaret, Jesse's mother asked grimly, she'd mourn her son later.
"They were snatched at about nine last night." Xander asked. "It's nearly six in the morning now and it's eight hours bare minimum for a turning. Which means he could wake up any minute. And vamp Jesse is going to spill everything. We need to dust him, fast."
"We can't go into the tunnels, we're just not equipped to do that." Charles said.
"Then I help the Slayer figure out, that she's got to go in. I'll go with and if I have a chance, I'll dust vampJesse." Xander said.
"It's risky, but so is leaving him as a loose end." Tony said.
"We have to try. It takes eight hours to three days, so there's a chance. At the very least, I can hit him with a memory spell. That'll keep him from saying anything." Xander said.
"Do it." Charles ordered.
Later, after the visit to the tunnels.
"If I hadn't seen her strength for myself, I'd wonder if she actually is a Slayer." Xander told them. "I could tell Jesse had been turned and awake for a little while. She didn't realize he was a vampire though. I pretended I didn't know. I managed to hit him with the memory spell, but I didn't get a chance to dust him. And I don't know just how much of his memory is affected because the little blond got herself in a jam by walking right into a trap. I had to save her, and then I had to pull her out of the manhole we crawled out of when she lost her grip. And I've got more grim news. The Watcher figured out that the Master, that ancient vampire trapped in the sewers, is planning an escape using a ritual called the Harvest. Tomorrow, at the Bronze, one of his minions will be feeding and transferring energy to him. With enough energy, he could break loose."
"Great." Charles said. "Just great. Alright, I'll make sure the manager of the club leaves the backdoor open so it'll be easier to get people out. We'll deal with any vamps hanging around the outside. If the Slayer can dust the one transferring the energy, we can stop the Master from escaping."
"And I have no doubt, Jesse'll be there." Xander said. "I'll get him then."
The next night, the night of the Harvest, the group took out nearly a dozen vampires surrounding the outside of the Bronze after Xander, along with Buffy, Willow and Giles entered thru the backdoor. While Giles and Willow got the teenagers out, Cordelia distracted Jesse, by allowing him to dance with her, while Xander got behind him and pulled him away from her. Trying to figure out how much he remembered and might have told the other vampires, Xander looked like he was trying to just talk to his friend. When he realized he really didn't remember the plan, Xander shoved his stake in vampJesse's chest. "Goodbye, Jesse." He murmured softly. His eyes met the sympathetic gaze of Cordelia.
"It's done." He told Jesse's parents later.
"Thank you for giving him peace, Xander." James told him. Xander just nodded.
"And the Slayer managed to get the one transferring energy." Cordelia said.
"Yeah, but we've got another issue. There was a vamp hiding in the shadows watching her. Cordelia spotted him."
"He's probably in his mid twenties, appearance wise." Cordelia said. "Dresses modern, up to date and wears a nice leather coat. I don't know who he is, but he seemed very interested in the Slayer. And he seemed glad she'd succeeded."
"Another vampire with an agenda. We need a score card to keep up." Madelyn said. "See what you can learn about him, his interest in the Slayer can't be a good thing."
Unfortunately, before they could find anything out, Cordelia was struck blind while taking her driving test. This was one the group couldn't help with as everything happened too fast. It turned out to be a body jumping witch, trying to relive her glory days. The Slayer took her out and the Watcher reversed all of her spells,
