Escape From Zero

This story was supposed to be a reaction fic, but I ended up changing my mind. If you do want to make a react fic of this, be my guest. Love to see how it turns out.

This is Escape from Tarkov x Re:Zero.

Here's some context for this story. Otherwise, some parts require to put them together on your own. However, if you prefer to not know, then you can skip until it's no longer bolded.

The World of Re:Zero and Escape From Tarkov have merged.

Now, Re:Zero is a dark world with no magic. This world has guns, buildings, etc etc. Just the modern world smashed together into rezero and talking away the magic and some part of spirits. (ill explain the spirit part later) Including divine blessings and authorities. Everything super unnatural is not here. This is all real.

Subaru is still the main character, but a few things have changed.

First, he is older now. Around early 30s. Subaru was summoned when he was 17. But in this dark world. He lived in it for years. To be exact, The main story (which is where we begin) starts with Subaru at the early 30s.

Second, This Subaru is more smart, understanding and just overall better then his young counterpart. Of course, his hatred for himself remains at a small margin.

Third, Subaru is apart of no factions as of right now. He is what everyone could call, a scav.

Fourth, Subaru has experience with this world. Weapons, people, leaders, faction, money, value, etc.

That's all for now. Now onto the other main cast members.

Emilia, along with the royal candidates, are all different now. Crusch, Pris and Ana each control a city and govern it. (More on this further down)

They all have a agreement with each other to be allies and it's been like that for a while now.

Each camp has their respective camp members, so there's no need to worry about that.

Roswaal has no book, if that wasn't obvious.

Now, Beatrice is one of the few exceptions I am going to make.

Beatrice is still a spirit. There is no magic, but she has the vast knowledge of the past and present. She is basically worshiped as Angel gifted from God.

As for the witch cult and the sin archbishops, it's unknown what they are doing, but they do exist.

That's all for now.

Now, locations.

All of Tarkovs main locations exist here. However, i dont know them well and it be hard for me to describe them completely correct or mostly correct. (im literally using google to search up images of the maps top side down so i can see what the hell is going on.)

I do have escape from tarkov, but until i can get enough disk space, i have to resort from the internet, gameplay or other experiences with the same map design (*cough* lost light *cough*) so for my EFT enjoyers or just people who like stuff similar to EFT, i hope you do NOT cuss me out in the comments. (im also a decently novice writer)

Anyway, for Re:Zero locations, its mostly all 4 countries and their capitals.

All of the countries exist but only their capitals. Along with each candidate leading one.

Kararagi is lead by Ana.

Luganica is lead by Crusch.

Gusteko is lead by.. No one. It's currently doing something similar with luganica, that being a council. Also means new characters for a selection? who knows.

Vollachia is ruled by Priscilla.

Now, where's Felt and Emilia?

Felt is underground, currently apart of a movement. Whatever her position and what this movement is, it's unknown.

Emilia is a civilian. She's living in Luganica.

It's also good to note that some of these places are different from the canon, so for example, Vollachia may not be as bloodthirsty as it's shown to be.

Thats all for now.

Another thing. The Shelter.

The main operations or HQ for Subaru. This is where everything will be set in place for him and all he has to do is do what he does best.

At the moment, it's around the first stages, with only some of the sightly more important stuff upgrades (workbench, health, storage)

Last thing, which is important to those who could be skip reading this.

Subaru has Return By Death.

It's different, so I'll explain what's going on.

Whenever Subaru dies, he goes back to time before he went out, but a certain amount of time has passed, so it's always going to be different.

The upside for this is that any loot Subaru brings will never be lost. The downside being anything he found that was worth something is gone and won't be able to go back again.

However, outside of combat/raids. Return By Death acts like in the series, and so there will be checkpoints and such.

Another thing before this story begins.

Subaru is doing alright. Around 700k Rubles. And at least 1 Big boy Chad kits in his storage. With a bunch of mid tier and low tier kits. Usually running the better gear when he thinks he needs it.

That and, as soon as this story starts, Subaru immediately gains Return By Death for the first time.

And now, we finally begin.

*Crunch*

*Crunch*

"Hmmm…"

*Crunch*

"Pretty good actually, I should have more of these." A voice calls out, a man's voice. Crunches echo though the building until it's revealed on who is making the noise.

It's Natsuki Subaru. It was pretty obvious as the mean eyes and the raven-black hair that most people were familiar with. But, there was both noticable and obvious differences.

He has a small beard. It was obvious by the looks, it was quite short too.

His eyes seem less filled with dread. Unlike the Subaru most could know in a fantasy world, his eyes still show he has seen some stuff. Stuff no one may be able to recover from.

His arms and legs were covered with a tank top that was striped down. His pants were cargo pants, green too, with some small bags hanging off it.

He sat on his bed, eating crackers, to be exact, army crackers. They were actually pretty good, but could be mixed in with some sauces and such.

Spending the cash to buy some food to enjoy for once was definitely good for him mentally, he felt a bit at peace for once.

Subaru continued with his snack, it was getting a bit repetitive though, so he would probably wander around the market for some sauces.

He remembers how his life ended up like this. Felt like yesterday when he was walking out of that store, ready to head home and play games. And then immediately got transported to another world.

Of course, he was over the top excited for it. But soon found out the hard way that this world was of gunpowder, death and survival.

He is thankful he was able to immediately catch on and get to work on making a living, and now for a few years now, he has been going to this massive "zone". 4 entrances that double as exits. No one has any idea where it came from. All they know is that it's not safe for the civilians population. So factions arose and entered the zone and found plenty of resources, guns, ammo and other things going in and out of the zone.

And with that, hell broke loose.

War broke out quickly, but it died down and everyone was on equal terms. But that was only the countrys. Everyday people still enter the zone, and death is always around the corner.

Of course, he has made a decent living off of this. But.. he remembers when he first had to take a life. His own life was in danger, and so it was entirely understandable to fight for it. But he remembered blaming himself each time he ended a life, knowing that person maybe has family or love ones.

But he was older now. And with that, he now knows…

The only reason you go to the zone is for fun or for pay. There's barely a between.

As for Subaru, it's been for pay. The zone is never fun, but he has to do what anyone can do to survive…

Subaru looks down to see he finished the crackers. He opens it up fully before eating the smaller bits of cracker that were broken off. He may as well have everything that was there to offer.

Crumbing the paper up, Subaru didn't throw it in the trash, but in a bin. Probably to use it for a day it was needed.

He sat up, before stretching.

Of course, he was… extremely well built. Most people had to anyway if you wanted to survive the zone. And he was naturally working out before and after he went into this world.

Some of his bones pop as he stretches, it was relaxing to pop some of his bones after a long day or a long rest. In this case, he was getting ready to enter the zone once more.

Subaru already had his hair done, but sometimes we're forced to keep it messy due to no cash to buy the products needed.

Wiping his eyes, he walked around a corner and down a hall to a corner. A bunch of boxes, crates and other items all laid around.

He made sure to label them all, and with his gear, he went with a normal one.

Aks-74u. One of the classic submachine guns in his world, that was also in this otherworld, check.

Standard helmet with bullet proof visor, check.

Standard bullet proof vest with mag pockets, check.

Decently sized backpack, check.

His insurance crate, that hanged off his pants, check.

Sound reducing headphones to reduces the chance of ear damage when firing… check.

Mask? Was a mask needed? Yeah, why not, check.

Subaru began to gear up with the equipment. Getting standard rounds for the AK, putting on plate carriers, and other equipment.

Subaru strapped the rifle onto his chest, putting it on safety and loading a mag in, then put 4 more mags into his vest.

Subaru took a balaclava and put it over him, before putting on the helmet, the visor stayed on top of his head until it was needed.

Finally, Subaru grabbed two grenades, they were small and light, but Subaru knew from experience it was quite powerful.

With that, Subaru took out from a crate a pistol.

The trusty PMM pistol. It was something he used for a while now, and while this was not a old one, he had a lot of memories with such pistols.

He looked at the pistol, putting the safety on before sliding it into his holster.

Subaru turned before heading into another direction of the shelter, into he saw the sign "Health Center".

He, of course, made sure to label some of his areas so he never forgot.

Looking down was a quite large corner worth of medical items and a workbench, possibly to make healing items.

Subaru didn't touch the workbench, but instead looked though some of the cabinets. Taking out some pills for painkillers, bandages and a car first aid kit.

Subaru stores them on his waist before turning back around and standing in the middle of the shelter. Taking one look before turning and heading to some stairs that led upwards.

Getting to the stairs, they were metal and were made to walk on. Not much else to talk about. He walked on them, before seeing the vault door he put on. He started to open it by turning it with some bit of strength and which made it open.

Pushing the vault door open, he walked outside.

Turning, he pulled out a key and closed the vault door. Turning it until it was tight, he inserted the key to lock it close.

Subaru stored the key in his insurance case before turning and heading out.

—-

Subaru has about a few minutes to walk, trying to enter the zone was considered illegal as it was made for non civilians.

However… if you had a insurance card, via buying one for quite a lot of money, you were able to enter the zone without any illegal trouble.

Making his way to a checkpoint, it was empty. Mostly as no one was dumb enough to go though here. However that's why it was so good.

Finally making it to the checkpoint, there were two towers on the left and right side, with the right one having a small booth. In it, head a familiar face he sees all the time.

"Feeling daring again Subaru?"

"Yeah, like always." Subaru responses back as he looks to the person he responded to.

It was a man named Lico. Which in his terms, means Luck. He has a small mustache, it was tirmed though, so it was only really small lines. His facial hair also includes some small chin hair, nothing special.

His eyes were brown, with his hair being a dark brown. It's how he got his last name too. 'Lico Noral.'

In the modern world, both those names don't mean anything special. But in the case of Noral, it meant 'Earth' as the ground, similar to dirt and such, was a type of brown.

He's is also guard for one of Gusteko's side of the zone.

"Like usual, show your card to me." Lico responds back with a small smile.

Subaru opens his insurance case and pulls out the card before gently tossing it into the booth's desk.

Lico complies and looks though the card, there were papers next to him he has to read though. This process usually takes a few minutes.

"So, anything new in the zone?"

Lico looks up, he puts his hand on his chin as he thinks about something before looking back at Subaru.

"It's been more active lately, I been told to keep a lookout for people trying to enter with fake cards or just flat out climbing over the wall. It's crazy honestly." Lico sighs, he turns his eyes away, a hand on his chin before turning back to Subaru.

"Anything else?" Subaru asks, he clears his throat though his mask, looking down at his hand. Gripping it and then releasing.

"Politic wise, it's been hell… hehe." Lico does a nervous chuckle before looking up to Subaru in more serious expression. "The people are starting to not trust the Gusteko council anymore. And those same people also end up being killed in their sleep. Lately, the council has been denial, saying they are investigating the murders… but it's not just Gusteko. Luganica has some problems too. Apparently Queen Crusch has been putting up an army lately, it's said that she's recruiting anyone with experience with weapon. It's crazy."

Lico sighs before looking back down for another minute.

"Alright, you're confirmed to enter. Be safe Subaru, you're one of the few people who go though this gate and speak to me." Lico fakely holds his heart as he is singing a prayer.

"I always come back, what's the difference from before?" Subaru smirks as the gate begins to open. "Anyways, take care Lico." Subaru gives off a low wave before turning and walking though the gate, he grips the AKS in his hands right before pulling it up to chest level, his other hand on his handguard. His grip tightens on the grip of the gun as he switches the safely off. Taking out his pistol with one hand, he flips the safely off with his thumb before holstering it back into his hip.

"Let's see what happens today."

LOCATION… FACTORY B.

TIME… 12PM.

EVACUATION TIME… 30 MINUTES.

SOLDIER…. NATSUKI SUBARU.

START.

*Crunch*

*Crunch*

*Crunch*

Instead of the sounds of the raven haired man eating crackers, it was dirt, dust and rocks being crunched on.

Subaru enter the factory, it's been a hour since he entered and he made it to the main location.

Looking up was the big green gate, it was one of the locations to enter from.

Looking back down, he walked up to the door, aiming to eye level with his gun, he pushes the gate open with his body.

No one appeared to kill him immediately. Subaru sighed as he opened the door enough to where he could squeeze though.

Subaru entered fully, turning and closing the gate behind him.

He turns around once more, before walking to the other gate, he opened the small door in the corner the gate had, aiming at eye level as he entered.

There were no ambushes and Subaru left the door open as he walked though.

He has entered the factory.

Subaru walked with his gun on his shoulder (hipfire basically) and walked quietly.

This factory was a type of metal factory, Subaru saw some posters about it, they were old and ragged.

Turning left was a door next to a small metal room. It has a door hole and a window, both empty and not having a actual door or window in them.

Turning to the door, it was closed at a glance. So Subaru went up the small metal steps, the metal rings sightly as weight presses onto it.

Subaru makes it to the door, taking his left hand to open the door, his right hand on his hip.

Opening it, it made a small creek, there was no one guarding or watching the door.

Sighing out of small relief, he entered the small area, closing the door behind him.

In Front of him was a small hallway, several doors laid out to the right side. Subaru aimed his gun, walking forward slowly.

"Anything?"

"Nothing, someone probably looted this and ran."

Voices enter his ears, two men, race is unknown yet. Probably human.

The voice were muffled but were hearable, above him was a small crack in the ceiling, which means they were a floor above.

Subaru slowly made his way to the other side and began to slowly walk up a stairway, his gun already pointed to the other end of it.

"That's fine, we still have the other door that's locked. We paid good money on the black market for this key, we have to atleast get something."

"I'll agree to that anyday."

Subaru made it up to the stairs, it seems they were about to leave whatever room they were in.

Subaru crouched down, putting his gun on the concrete corner and waited for both of the scavs to exit.

The first person went out, it was easy to tell their features.

Fluffy hair, no, a demi human.

'A demi human in the zone? Guess Lico wasn't lying, no sane demi human would enter the zone. They were better paying jobs you could get easier… poor bastard.'

The demi-human looked to the left and right, not noticing Subaru as he hid behind the wall.

"It's clear, come on. You said there was nothing in that room that was worth anything."

"Nah man, I found some batteries, pretty good right?"

"Hurry up then."

Silence goes by, the small air from the open windows of the factory pass by.

Subaru made sure to steady his breathing, demi humans had a perk of being able to see in the dark better than humans along with the nose they have. While it was dangerous, they mostly keep out of the zone.

There are some names people in the zone. Feared by everyone outside and inside the zone.

Subaru stopped thinking as he listened in.

"Alright got it! Let's get out of here!" Another demi human popped out with the other one.

They both began to walk his direction, he could tell by the sound of their footsteps getting closer.

Looks like he has to do some unnecessary killing again.

Subaru waits another few seconds before putting his gun on the corner of the concrete. It didn't complete show himself while he would be able to fight.

And he pulled the trigger down.

Bangs all around, a bunch of shots ranged out as the shaking of the AK was apparent to Subaru.

"Ahh! Fuck!"

Two shots ranged back out, a pistol probably, they were not skilled at all. Novices.

"Chris! Ehk!" The other voice rang out but soon died out as well.

Subaru breathed deep in and out, he pulled back, taking the mag of the AK and ejecting it, he slid it into his side pocket of his vest. Taking another mag on the front of it and slid it into the gun.

*Click*

the sound of the gun basically confirming it was loaded.

He moved the gun to the right side at a angle, pulling back the chamber and letting it go. It was loaded.

Subaru breathed in and out as he turned the corner with his gun raised at the two bodies.

They both seemed dead, their blood leaked down their clothes, a dark red messed them up.

"May your souls find peace in the afterlife."

Subaru put his hands together as a pray and did a small bow. He had to respect a death, to his eyes, these were going, dumb, adults who didn't know much better.

Subaru holstered his AK as he began to walk forward to search for what they had.

*Bang*

A shot rang out, it was familiar. Too familiar.

"Bitch…"

same voice of the other demi human. His weakness caused him to be possibly shot.

His chest was in flames, but his body did something before his mind could catch up.

*BANG BANG*

AK shots from Subaru rang from his barrel, it began to smoke on the barrel.

The one who shot him is now dead, two shots to the skull ended him quickly.

"Ermmm fuck!" Subaru stumbled as the pain snapped him out of the phase, he entered the room the two were originally in.

Quickly, he took out painkillers from his pocket. Opening the lid, he shook the bottle and two tablets came out. He then took them without a second thought and they went down quick.

Subaru then takes off his vest, he pulled up his shirt and tanktop and held it by his teeth, knowing trying to apply anything to yourself hurt like hell.

The bullet entered though, it was in his skin, but it didn't pass though, he would have to forcely pull out the bullet. Luckily, it was only in his lower torso. His well built body was ruined by yet another bullet hole. He sees scars and bullet holes on chest, all from years of experience. A quick sigh as he took out his car first aid kit, using the tweezers and slowly put it into his wound.

He groaned from pain, but he got the tweezers onto the bullet. Then, he held his breath and pulled the bullet out fast.

"MMMMM!" Another surge of pain, muffled by the clothing in his mouth. He got a look at the bullet, it was armor piercing. No wonder.

Subaru used some cream that came with, putting on the wound slowly to avoid infection.

Finally, he pulled out a bandage and wrapped it around his chest. Another groan escaped his mouth as he puts the bandage on.

Finishing it, he slides his clothes back down, breathing in and out slowly. Trying to control his breathing.

"Fuck… that was… too close." Subaru sat there for a second, before looking over to his vest.

He grabbed it and slid it over his body.

He looked over to the door where the two bodies laid.

He got up, while hurting and walked over, putting his hand onto the hand guard and his other hand on the grip.

Entering our, he checked the left and right. No one was around.

He looked over to the bodies and began to drag the two bodies inside the room, holding the gun by his right hand on his hip, he closed the door after.

Subaru got on his knees, setting the AK on the side as he looked though the loot.

The first demi human, as he looked closer, he had grey fur. A small helmet laid on his head, his vest was surprisingly high grade. Probably two dumb nobles? He was unsure.

He took the helmet, unbelting the helmet on him before stashing it into the demi humans own backpack.

He then took the vest from him, deciding to switch it out for his own, putting his old one in his own backpack.

In the demi humans backpack, other then the helmet, has a bunch of small items, medical items and a few extra mags for a rifle. Which he then looked to.

It had a brown handguard and a brown stock. It seems similar to a M4, but it was instead looked more like a copy of some sort. He forgot the name of this one, but it's a good weapon to his collection.

He took the rifle, using the demi humans holster as he holstered it on his backpack.

As he continued to loot, a sudden creak behind him made him turn and aim his holstered pistol.

"Eeep! I-I-I'm… sorry!"

Subaru for the first time in a long time, had his words caught in his throat. For the first time, a girl, quite young too, was in the doorway.
