Note: As last chapter focused on a crazed Fay, this chapter will show show what happened during her attack on her former teammates. I don't want to spoil too much, especially since I feel that prevents people from actually reading the story. Before we move on, I want to say something to three reviewers.
Big Bossk Man 92: In a way, it was dumb luck on Star Fox's part. Fay was only driven crazy after being fed a single blood pack, so she might've been unstoppable if she was given a dozen of them. The team, Fara included, should be glad to be alive, indeed. Even if one of them got turned, then the rest of the team would have another teammate who got bitten.
As for Krystal, she'll probably have to give it her all. If she doesn't defeat Wolf, then it's unlikely that he'll let her escape, given how she's against him. Stay tuned to find out.
Ron: I don't know how Nintendo would've made a vampire-themed Star Fox game, especially since it's not something anyone would expect from the franchise. But, if a game with vampires got made, then it would probably be different than this story. Nintendo is more family-friendly than stories like this, after all. I hope that you like this chapter.
King Tutanfoxenkhamen III: You have high hopes for Krystal, do you? Well, so do I! Bill hasn't appeared in the story yet, so he'll probably be horrified when he hears that Fay is a vampire. As for a cure to the SW-42, Star Fox would probably need DNA from someone who was injected with it in order to find out how to make it. Also, when you mention Krystal having ice powers, I think that you're referring to the ice blast from her staff, because I don't recall her having natural ice powers. Her vampirism doesn't effect her staff.
I heard about the E-Shops for Wii U and the 3DS being closed, but I didn't use either. In fact, I never had a 3DS. Besides that, I hope that you enjoy this chapter.
Now that I've said that, it's time for chapter fourteen.
Chapter 14: Krystal VS Wolf
Standing in front of Wolf, Krystal narrowed her eyes, glaring at her opponent. Her telepathy scanned his thoughts, searching for any strategies that he had. The cobalt vixen could tell that he only had his blaster on hand, but didn't underestimate him. Considering how the one-eyed lupine was also a vampire (as well as the one who had turned her into one), she knew that he had various powers at his disposal. Holding her staff out, the Cerinian-vampire was intent on using every ability the weapon had against Wolf. If that didn't work, her blaster would do some damage to the space pirate-turned-vampire.
Wolf cracked his knuckles, ready to fight Krystal. The cobalt vixen had weapons on hand, but the one-eyed lupine felt as though they didn't matter. He was used to fighting with his hands, to the point where he had knocked out several people with weapons in the past. The space pirate-turned-vampire anticipated for the first strike, hoping to win and prove his superiority. Even if Krystal found some way to beat him, he wouldn't have surrendered immediately. After all, the Venomian's apprentice was rebelling against him, and he felt that she needed a little bit of discipline.
"So, are you going to make your move?" Wolf asked.
"No, I'm just waiting for you to make yours." Krystal coldly said.
"Honorable, aren't we?" The one-eyed lupine stated. "Well, get ready, because it's going to be your demise!"
Deciding to begin the fight, Wolf threw himself at Krystal, intent on knocking her down with a punch. The cobalt vixen caught his fist and delivered a kick to his side. She followed it up with an uppercut, which hit the Venomian in his chin. Despite her attacks, the Cerinian vampire didn't do a significant amount of damage to him, not that she was expecting them to. Knocking Wolf back with her staff, Krystal got herself ready for an attack. As she did that, Wolf stood his ground, thinking that he would have to try a different tactic against the girl who was supposed to be his apprentice.
Wolf fired more of the energy constructs in order to bind Krystal. However, the cobalt vixen dodged them, jumping away and rolling on the floor. When Wolf fired a larger one at her, she leapt towards him, narrowly dodging it. Landing on her feet, the Cerinian vampire glared at the one-eyed lupine, her staff's end pointing at his chest.
"I'll have to thank you for binding me in those energy attacks earlier," Krystal said, "because now I know when to dodge and avoid them."
"But can you handle my other attacks?" Wolf asked.
"We'll see!" The cobalt vixen said.
Balling his hand into a fist, Wolf created a flaming aura. It formed a fireball in no time, becoming about as big as a basketball. The one-eyed lupine threw it at Krystal, but she dodged it. Aiming her staff forward again, the cobalt vixen fired a beam at her opponent, knocking him back. Unfazed by the attack, Wolf threw two more fireballs at his apprentice, intent on knocking her down. Like before, Krystal got out of the way, returning fire with her staff.
Running up to Wolf, Krystal punched him in the face and kicked him in the side. She followed this up with a scissor kick, hitting the one-eyed lupine in his chest and abdomen. In response, he threw the cobalt vixen back. Charging up his energy again, the space pirate-turned-vampire intended to fire another fireball at her. Before he could do so, the Cerinian vampire fired another beam at him, hitting his hand. With his hand injured, Wolf coldly glared at Krystal, who was standing confidently.
Wolf's eyes began to glow a bright yellow. Holding her staff in front of her, Krystal braced herself for an attack. This proved to be a good idea, as Wolf began to fire a blinding light from his eyes. The one-eyed lupine's attack was stopped when Krystal used her Deflector Shield against him, bouncing the light back. This threw Wolf back, causing him to collide with the back wall. He picked himself up, ignoring the burning pain that was surging on his body.
"How am I losing to you?" Wolf asked. "Where has this power been throughout your life?"
"It's from the bite on my neck!" Krystal said. "Thanks to you, I have gained new powers!"
"And you're not happy about it?" The one-eyed lupine asked.
"Of course not!" The cobalt vixen said. "I want to get rid of these abilities, and I'll be happy to slay you in order to do so!"
Thrusting her staff forward, Krystal intended to stake Wolf in the heart. Moving to the side, Wolf punched the cobalt vixen in her arm. She didn't lose her grip on her staff, immediately hitting the man who turned her into a vampire on the head. The Cerinian vampire then punched him several times, all of her blows connecting with his face. Kicking him away from her, the vulpine tried to destroy the one-eyed lupine's heart again, this time with a beam. It didn't destroy his heart, but it caused some damage to the space pirate-turned-vampire.
Attempting to do a sweep kick to Krystal, Wolf was eager to win. He threw punches, but the cobalt vixen was quick to dodge them. With her vampiric blood, she was unable to grow tired, having a near-endless amount of energy. Firing her staff again, the Cerinian vampire froze Wolf in a block of ice. Her eyes glowed a deep red, with her voice turning into a vicious growl. Swinging her staff again, the vulpine tried to destroy Wolf while he was inside the ice. However, the one-eyed lupine caught the weapon's pointed end with the only hand that wasn't frozen.
Pulling her staff free, Krystal dodged the blinding light that Wolf fired at her. The attack sizzled and cracked, allowing the cobalt vixen to see that it was some sort of electric blast. Knowing that, she fired a beam at the frozen Wolf, hoping to destroy him. It only managed to break the ice that bound the one-eyed lupine, freeing him.
"That attack was rather half-assed, wasn't it?" Wolf sneered.
"I fired too soon." Krystal said, throwing her staff to the side.
"And now you're abandoning your weapon?" The one-eyed lupine asked.
"I don't need it!" The cobalt vixen let out a snort of hatred.
"Very well." The space pirate-turned-vampire said.
Krystal jumped at Wolf, punching him in the abdomen. The one-eyed lupine then grabbed onto her, trying to lift the younger female over him. Knowing what he was trying to do, the cobalt vixen kicked him in the chest. She got away from him, waiting for the space pirate-turned-vampire to make his move. He ran at her, intent on kicking her down. Instead of moving, Krystal stood still, her eyes closed. Believing that he had won, Wolf swung his leg towards the Cerinian vampire, aiming for her arms.
And that was when it happened ...
BOOM!
Wolf was suddenly thrown back by a powerful blast, as if he got caught in the blast radius of an atomic bomb. Once he landed on the floor, the one-eyed lupine looked up and saw Krystal standing above him. Her eyes were glowing red, hinting as to where the blast came from. The cobalt vixen's aura was going wild, as if her more bestial side was starting to come out. She let out haggard breath, as if her new powers were draining her of her energy. In fact, the Cerinian vampire looked like she was about to collapse.
"What was that?" Wolf asked, sounding more curious than frustrated.
"You're not the only one with powers, Wolf." Krystal said. "This one is new, but I have a feeling that I can master it and use it to kill you."
As Wolf found himself unable to stand up, he tried to form another fireball. Krystal quickly struck the one-eyed lupine's hand with her staff. She jumped back, sensing that he was about to unleash that electric beam from his eyes again. Charging up her own attack, the cobalt vixen focused, not caring about the high amount of energy that it would require. Once Wolf fired his eye beam, she fired hers, letting out a defiant scream. The Cerinian vampire and the space pirate-turned-vampire were soon caught in a struggle, with one trying to push the beam towards the other.
Increasing the power of his attack, Wolf made it stronger. This allowed him to push the beam towards Krystal. Before it could even hit the cobalt vixen, the energy dissipated. As soon as that happened, Krystal vanished from the room, with an ethereal sound accompanying her disappearance. Surprised, Wolf saw that the vixen who was supposed to be his servant had teleported out of Sargasso. He was about to leave the room, until he heard something.
Looking down at the floor, Wolf saw that there was a piece of paper under his boot. Picking it up, the one-eyed lupine saw that it was a note. He read through it, curious as to what its contents were.
I'm never joining any of you!
If it's the last thing any of us do, my team and I will destroy your army and prevent you from enslaving the Lylat System, let alone the entire universe.
- Krystal Bodimead
Putting the note in his pocket, Wolf let out a sly chuckle. As much as he wanted to chase after Krystal and beat her into submission, he was impressed by how much more powerful she had become. Not only had the cobalt vixen's telepathy seemed to improve, but she was able to fire blasts of her own. It seemed like those who were bitten by a vampire would gain abilities that would surpass their masters. There hadn't been a half-vampire in Star Wolf's army that seemed to be like that, but it was only a matter of time before it happened. Wolf was waiting for it to happen, thinking that the hybrids would be powerful enough to crush a planet's defense force.
Knowing that Fay was probably still on Corneria, Wolf decided to contact with his telepathy. This was primarily due to the fact that contacting the spaniel with his communicator would out her as a traitor to Star Fox.
Fay, get up! Wolf's thoughts traveled to Corneria. Come back as soon as you can! We've gotten everything taken care of!
Once that was out of the way, Wolf decided to head out to the docking bay. Leon and Panther were working on ships for their vampire soldiers, so that they could get a chance to fight. Walking past his teammates, the one-eyed lupine could sense that Krystal had arrived back to Corneria. She wasn't in the city, but she was in an area that was nearby. Wolf only smiled, knowing that the cobalt vixen had gotten lucky. He sat near his modified Wolfen, thinking about the next phase of his plan.
Note: Looks like Krystal and Wolf dueled themselves to a stalemate. But, what's the next phase of Wolf's plan? Will Krystal make it back to her teammates? How will they react to her fight with Wolf? Will Star Fox work on a cure for vampirism? More importantly, who will they test it on?
Until next time, guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
