Kubo's ears were ringing. He felt a feeling of dread wash over him. He slowly started getting his hearing back.
-"God fucking damn it kid! What the hell is wrong with you!?" Kubo screamed at Keanu, his own voice slowly getting more clear as his hearing was returning. Wayne heard footsteps rushing upstairs. He ran over and grabbed an Uzi off a dead guard and aimed it at the stairwell.
-"Can you two do this later!? We've gotta run!" Wayne yelled over at them. Two ocelots ran up the stairs and Wayne shot them both dead. He turned over to Kubo and kicked another Uzi over to him. Kubo picked up the gun.
Keanu stood still, staring at Ramon sprawled dead across the floor. His vision was getting blurry, and he felt weak in his knees. He felt a strong hand on his shoulder.
-"Snap out of it! Come on! Check if he had a gun in his desk that you can use." Kubo commanded. Keanu quickly got his bearings. He hopped over Ramon's bleeding corpse and opened his desk, grabbing a loaded pistol. He looked out of the window and saw that guards were scrambling to run over to the building they were in.
-"We gotta go boys!" Wayne yelled. Keanu and Kubo ran out of the office with Wayne following behind them.
They exited the building meeting heavy resistance. There must've been dozens of ocelots shooting at them. They hid behind a nearby truck taking potshots at them. There was no way they could get to their car without getting killed. Wayne got an idea.
-"You two cover me I'll hop inside the truck and hot wire it, then we'll go right through 'em." He commanded. Kubo nodded and started shooting from the back of the truck, gathering all the attention to himself. Keanu climbed up onto the side of the truck and started firing from the top of the truck.
The truck engine started spinning and the truck turned on. Keanu hopped through the window, over Wayne and into the passenger seat. Kubo jumped in the back. Wayne floored the pedal, turning the truck towards the exit of the compound. They both ducked down as bullets flew over their heads. They drove right through the metal fence and sped down the dirt road as far away from the compound as they could. Keanu lifted his head up, brushing broken pieces of glass and metal from his head and shirt. Wayne could barely see the dark road in front of them. They were just happy to leave that place alive. Their happiness was short-lived though as they heard a car rapidly approaching from behind them.
-"Shit, Keanu shoot at them!" Wayne yelled, seeing a jeep in their rear view mirror filled with some pissed off gun toting ocelots. Keanu smashed open his window and aimed at the ocelots. Before he could even fire he heard automatic gunfire. But, they weren't hit? The jeep full of ocelots lit on fire and crashed behind them.
-"I don't see any more of them! Wayne! Pull over in the jungle clearing down there!" Kubo yelled from the back of the truck.
Wayne drove down a smaller dirt road between some trees. He kept going till he reached a river. They were deep into the jungle, covered by its vast foliage. They were safe for the time being, as the only way for anyone to get to them would be by burning through half the jungle. Wayne turned off the truck and him and Keanu hopped out. Kubo hopped out the back and stomped towards Keanu. Before Keanu could even say a word Kubo's hand flew, and he slapped Keanu as strong as he could. Keanu got knocked back and held onto the truck's door for balance.
-"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Kubo yelled at Keanu, fuming with anger. Keanu held his head in pain before headbutting Kubo. Kubo fell back, holding his nose.
-"Whoa whoa! Calm the fuck down! Both of you!" Wayne yelled, getting between them and grabbing them both.
-"He almost got us killed!" Kubo yelled again, his nose now bleeding.
-"We killed them first didn't we!?" Keanu yelled back at him.
-"You immature, impulsive,hotheaded little shit!" Kubo screamed, lunging at Keanu. Wayne held him back.
-"Stop goddamn it! We're lucky to be alive!" Wayne calmed him down.
-"Why... Just explain to me why you would even get the idea to go on a rampage before we even closed the deal?" Kubo asked, panting from exhaustion.
-"You saw it. They were torturing those kids. If I ain't done something they would've died and been replaced with new ones. He had to die Kubo..." Keanu explained, his hands shaking.
-"Listen to yourself, didn't business always come first to you? Now you wanna act like a hero but you don't even have the decency to only endanger yourself. No, no,no please, please Keanu go and be a fucking hero. While you're at it, why don't you just kill us too since you're so bloodthirsty for justice? Ain't you forget all the bad shit we did? All the shit YOU did?" Kubo berated Keanu.
-"I just... That could've been me." Keanu spoke, his breath shaking.
-"Oh you goddamn idiot. We would never let that happen to you." Kubo barked back. "Your way too impulsive, you're forgetting that Araki put me here as the leader for this job."
-"Come on, lay off him. What happened, happened. We can't go back now. Our only option's gonna be to grab the cash and run back to Japan." Wayne planned.
-"And fuck Araki out of a multi billion yen deal?" Kubo asked aggressively.
-"Manos arriba lobos!" A voice yelled at them from the jungle.
The trio manically looked all around them but couldn't find the source of the sound. Suddenly from the jungle foliage, various carnivores and herbivores popped out holding bows and arrows. There must've been twenty of them, all of them aiming right at the three wolves standing confused by a truck. Keanu slowly reached towards his waist for his gun before an arrow flew right by his hand, sticking into the ground beside him.
-"Manos arriba!" A large tiger yelled at them. The trio put their hands up. Two more tigers ran up to them and took their weapons from them, tying their hands with rope.
They tied all three of them together in a line, Kubo in front, Keanu in the middle and Wayne in the back. Then one tiger jumped in the truck and started it. Another tiger started dragging Kubo behind him. They all started walking downstream from the river. The truck following slowly behind them. Keanu looked around and saw various herbivores walking through the foliage with them. Capybaras, mongooses, hutias and solenodons. They saw a various light in the distance. They couldn't make out what they were, but they heard voices from there. They weren't dragging them back to the compound that was for sure. So where the hell were they going?
-"Excuse me, we're actually tourists here we don't mean any harm. Could you please lead us to-" Kubo was cut off by a smack to the face by the tiger leading them.
-"Collate!" The tiger yelled at him. Keanu chuckled.
-"Damn Kubo I know that smack hurt you." Keanu giggled to himself. Kubo ignored him.
The lights got bigger and bigger, and eventually they could make out what they were seeing. It was a village! Bunch of small houses, mud huts and dug up holes for storage. Lanterns were lit up outside along with torches. They were led through the small village all the way through to a clearing. Sitting on a large wooden throne was an eagle covered with tribal tattoos and jewelry, wearing an orange robe. The tiger parked the truck nearby. Three mongooses walked behind the gang and hit them in the legs, making them fall to their knees. They all looked at the eagle sitting in front of them in complete silence.
-"Who are you? And what are you doing on this island?" The eagle loudly questioned.
-"Mister, we're just humble businessmen here on vaca-" Kubo couldn't even finish his sentence before being hit in the back of the head by a tiger.
-"Don't lie to me. We heard gunfire. I'll ask again. Who are you? And what are you doing on this island?" The eagle asked again, clearly agitated. Kubo groaned in pain before sighing.
-"Fine, we're yakuzas. We've come from Japan to do a deal with Ramon. Everything was going swimmingly before Keanu here shot him dead a-" Kubo explained, being interrupted by the eagle.
-"He did what!?" The eagle asked in surprise, his tone shifting from a calm Stoic one to one of genuine amazement. Kubo raised an eyebrow.
-"Uhh. He...shot Ramon in the head." Kubo repeated himself. The eagle stood up and looked over at the tiger.
-"Liberarlo! Rapido!" He shouted over at the tiger. The tiger ran over and cut Keanu loose. Keanu stood up and the eagle walked in front of him. He was towering over Keanu. Suddenly though, the eagle bowed down and shook Keanu's hand. Keanu looked at him, confused.
-"Thank you.. Thank you.." The eagle exclaimed in relief.
-"Uhh,you're welcome?" Keanu said, clearly still not getting it.
-"Ven afuera! Ramon esta muerto!" The eagle shouted out. Suddenly the small houses opened up and women started coming outside, cheering. They were screaming with excitement and happiness. The whole village suddenly became alive. The men started cheering as well, embracing their wives in joy. The gang looked around them, seeing all the happiness that Ramon's death apparently caused.
-"My friend, I am the chief of this village. Ramon was a horrible man that came here a few years ago. He opened a facility, harvesting plants and tearing through the jungle to make drugs. He was shipping weapons, drugs and organs all this time!" The chief explained. "He...he came one night and took our children. He made them his slaves, forcing them to work for him. Some of our bravest warriors tried to get them back, but it was hopeless. They were either killed or sold."
Keanu looked over at Kubo and Wayne.
-"Free them, they're not a threat." Keanu told the chief. The chief looked at the tiger and nodded. Kubo and Wayne were cut loose, and they stood up next to Keanu.
-"With Ramon's death, we finally have hope that we may see our children again." The chief spoke. He went silent for a bit. "But there is still the problem of all the men guarding their base."
-"Maybe, maybe. You do only have bows and arrows right?" Kubo asked.
-"Yes, it is all that we can make out here." The chief responded. Kubo nodded.
-"Of course, of course. Well I think we can help with that." Kubo said, walking over to the back of the parked truck. He hopped inside, opening a crate. He jumped out of the truck holding a M16. "We borrowed some firepower while we were escaping." The chief looked at Kubo.
-"Then there is hope yet." The chief spoke.
-"How many men do you have at your disposal?" Kubo asked.
-"Twenty, we cannot risk the women." The chief responded.
-"That's quite enough. Tell them we're gonna attack at dawn." Kubo requested. The chief nodded.
-"You three can rest in the storage. We thank you for your help." The chief thanked the gang. The trio stepped inside the storage. This is where they kept the grains, plants and fabrics for future use. They sat down on some bags of wheat. They could hear the chief speaking to his people. He had a real strong voice, ones that when you hear once you'll never forget. The people cheered as he spoke.
-"So, It seems our luck keeps changing by the minute doesn't it?" Wayne spoke, breaking the silence.
-"I wouldn't call it luck." Kubo replied. "We'll see how tomorrow goes. Either way if we make it back to Japan Araki won't be happy."
The room was silent once again.
-"I'm sorry guys." Keanu apologized. Kubo and Wayne turned to look at him. "I know I'm a goddamn idiot for doin' what I did. The gang should come first, my messed up moral compass shouldn't effect. I just... I couldn't bear to look at them bein' tortured like that. I'll try to do better by you people." He finished. Wayne and Kubo said nothing, looking down at the floor. Keanu threw some bags of wheat on the floor and laid down on them, falling asleep. Kubo chuckled.
-"He reminds me of Araki back in the day." He remembered. "Whatever happens I still do hope he doesn't lose that small sense of what's right in him. Now come on, we gotta catch some sleep." Wayne nodded, and they both laid down on the floor, closing their eyes.
