Chapter 15

A Few Truths: Part Two

After Sam took Mercedes to her car, she told him goodbye and surprising enough he let her go with no real hassle which deep down made her somewhat sad but she needed to clear her head and she needed to call her ex. A phone call she'd hope she never had to make but Sam's warning was enough for her to break the promise they'd made.

Mercedes didn't lie about her parents keeping her in a bubble but the one thing they couldn't do was keep her in said bubble while she was in college. All through high school her father and brother kept a very close eye on any guy that approached her because they knew how shy she was and knew some boys would try to take advantage. That didn't stop him for making a way into her life her freshman year of college and turning her world upside down.

She sat in her car look at her phone before finally building up the courage to call the only unsaved number in her phone, she waited nervously as it rang before she heard it connect then heard his familiar voice on the other end.

Hello?

Hey…

Mercedes? Why the hell are you calling me?

I… we need to talk, is okay a good-

No! We agreed to never talk to each other again, jeez…

It's important and I'm not trying to disr-

Mercedes I said no, this was the agreement you set in place and now you expect me just- No baby just give me a minute. Look I have to go, have a nice life.

Matt-

She heard the dial tone and sighed before placing her head into her hands, she knew this might come back to bite her in the ass but she didn't expect that she would ever have to deal with this because she was in… a relationship? Situationship? Entanglement with a man who just so happen to have power family members, she was about to try again when a her phone went off.

I can't leave until I know you're okay.

She looked up and saw Sam was still there and she felt tears filling her eyes, she thought he'd left but sure enough he was there so she got out and walked to his car. She tapped on his window and instead of letting it down he got out and looked at her seeing the unshed tears.

"Mercedes if-" He started but stopped when she shook her head.

"I'm not as innocent as you think… and before you ask I have to talk to someone else first but I at least owe you that because you were so honest with me." She managed to get out.

"Whatever it is, I won't judge you." Sam reassured and she shook her head again.

"My parents don't even know." She choked out feeling the tears falling before she quickly wiped them away.

"Why don't you take a few days and if you want to tell me after you do then I'll listen."

"I-" She started before her phone started to ring, she looked at it and knew that he saw the unknown number.

"I have to take this. Goodbye Sam." She said giving him a weak smile before walking back to her car and answering it. This time she turned her car on slowly drove out of the parking garage seeing Sam still standing there with an unreadable expression.

Matt?

I didn't mean to sound like a jackass… we haven't talked in years and you call me out of the blue.

I just need a few minutes and I won't ever call again.

Must be mighty important if you broke your own rule.

Someone might look into me… and I just wanted to tell you this because it may or may not effect you.

Mercedes what happened that summer isn't a bad thing, what we did wasn't a bad thing. We were just two people who did something on a whim that led to something else.

Matt we got married in secret because we thought I was pregnant.

We thought it was the right thing to do…

No you thought it was the right thing to do, I wanted to tell my parents.

Wait what?

You were older than me… you-"

Mercedes I'm not doing this with you, tell me why you called.

The marriage might show up… I mean we got divorced so I'm sure it will and I'm not so sure that the person looking won't try to use it against me.

I'm married and my wife doesn't know anything about that so you need to make sure it doesn't get out. Don't forget you came onto me first.

I never-

Goodbye Mercedes.

She let out a sob when she heard the dial tone, that was Matt's typical way of handling things. He diverted the blame away from his self and onto whoever he could place it upon, just like he'd did a few moments ago. Mercedes knew she never made the first move, he had and he had been so charming and sweet that she couldn't resist. She was eighteen and he was her TA, she wasn't bold or anything in fact she was more shy then than she was now and though she did flirt back she didn't know what the hell she was doing.

He was her first in literally everything, he never pressured her and hell she couldn't deny she was very much in love with him or so she thought. That year was a roller coaster for her, she couldn't understand his random mood changes or how he could be so sweet one minute and completely demanding the next. She was so happy when he asked her to marry him that she didn't think it would end as badly or quickly as it did. She thought she was pregnant but when it came up that she wasn't she knew that was a sign and convinced him to get a divorce but she hadn't intended on breaking his heart in the process or so that's what he convinced her of doing.

She made him a promise to never talk about them being married because truthfully if her family never knew then it never happened but what she didn't learn until later was that if someone wanted to know all they had to do was look because she had so after graduating from college she kept her distance. She'd gotten a job states away and he married the woman he cheated on her with and that was enough for her to shell away for a while, just long enough until a mysterious blonde walked into her life.

"I see you're still blaming him for what you did." Stevie heard behind him and knew immediately who it was before turning around and seeing a familiar face.

"Unique…"

"Oh calling my by name now?" Unique asked with knowing look.

"What are you even doing here?"

"I had a few things that I needed to deliver to your brother and I wanted to bring it myself, I saw the two of you fighting so I figured at least let my present be know since this hotel has… personal meaning." She replied and Stevie let out a sigh.

"Nique, I.." Stevie started before stopping when she shook her head at him and taking a step back when he moved closer.

"You don't get to call me that anymore, you don't even get to speak to me but if you're only here to ruin whatever Sam's got going on then I guess I'll need to handle you too."

"Don't involve yourself in our personal matters again, you see how badly it went down the last time."

"No you need stop acting like Sam is to blame when it was you that did what you did."

"I saw the two of you that night! I saw how chummy you were with him and even when I confronted the two of you, you acted like it was nothing!"

"Because it was nothing! Sam had just told me that he was giving over his half of my business to me so that I owned it completely! You came in there screaming and shouting like we had done something to hurt you when all I did was kiss him as a thank you, a kiss he did not return. You ruined a friendship Stevie, why do you think he worked so hard to make sure that I owned my business completely?"

"Because he wanted to show me up, I was going to help you with your business and had you waited long enough-"

"NO! You only wanted to help yourself and you used me to get back at him. You're holding on to that one moment when we both know the truth."

"Unique, I've apologized for dead-naming you and I've apologized for my actions after-"

"You never apologized you sent Marley after Sam, you filled her head with those lies that Sam was secretly interested in her and you knew he really wasn't. Yes he entertained it but you and I both know the second she started acting like a damn fool he tried to end things. You are the reason that all this shit happened and if you aren't careful you're going to lose the only decent person left in your life outside of your sister." Unique interrupted.

"You don't know what you're talking about so it'll be in your best interests to-"

"Remove myself from your family's business before something happens to my business. That's what you were going to say wasn't it? You don't even see what your father has done to you, you think he didn't pay me a visit after Sam went against his wishes and signed over the his half to me? Who do you think had a piece of his share? You're pathetic and you need to grow the hell up!" Unique said before walking away leaving Stevie there shocked because he didn't know his dad visited her.

Mercedes was pacing looking at the unsent message on her phone, a message she typed over an hour ago for her parents to give her a call. She couldn't send it because she knew they would respond immediately and then she would have to tell them… she would have to tell them that their daughter fell in love with her TA, gave him her virginity unprotected at that and married him because she thought she was pregnant.

She would have to tell them why she refused to come home that summer and why when they came to visit she was somewhat distant. He was her first real boyfriend and her now ex-husband, she'd given her time to get over that entire year especially since he moved away after their divorce. Divorce. She hadn't thought or spoken about that part in her life since it happened and now she was worried about disrupting Matt's life and making things even more difficult for Sam.

"Just send the message." She said to herself before hitting send and taking a deep breath because as expected her phone began to ring immediately.

"Hey teacup!"

"Hey daddy… is moma there?"

"I'm here baby, how are you?"

"I'm okay, how are you guys?" She asked clearly stalling.

"We're good… is something wrong? You sound worried." Her mother asked and felt a lump growing in back of the throat because it was now or never.

"I need to tell you two something… I just ask that you let me get it all out first."

"Okay…" Both her parents said and she could hear their apprehension.

"My freshman year of college, I met a guy and things got intense very quickly. He was my TA and older than me, we started dating and one thing led to another before we became intimate… we didn't use protection and for a while I thought I was pregnant." She started stopping when she heard her mother gasp before her father shh'd her.

"We, well he suggest we get married so that's what we did and after I found out I wasn't things kind of went downhill from there. He ended up cheating on me and we got divorced several months later, the reason I'm telling you this now is because it could come out. I know it's not life altering in a sense but it's still something I kept hidden so I didn't want you finding out from a third party." She finished and for a while it was silent, eerily silent before she heard her father mutter about needing a moment.

"It's okay baby and we are happy you told us even after the fact." Her mother said but she could hear the grief in her voice.

"Mommy, I'm sorry I never said anything and I know I should have but… I was scared."

"Hey teacup I'm back. Is there a reason why you wanted to tell us now?" Her father asked and she let out a deep sigh not sure how to explain that answer. She couldn't say she entered a relationship with a man she'd only know for what a hot second, given up the goodies and is now wrapped up in some crazy sibling revenge drama.

"I… can we come back to that later? I just wanted to let you know that and that I'm sorry if I disappointed you in anyway."

"We're not disappointed baby just shocked but you're an adult now so we can't really hold that against you. I just hate that you didn't think you could come to us about any of this or at least me." Her mother said and she knew she was hurt.

"I wanted to, I really did and I promise to explain more I just need to take a mental break from this for a minute." She replied.

"Okay baby call us when you're ready. We love you."

"I love you too." She said before hanging up before hearing a knock at the door. She wasn't too sure who it was but she hoped it wasn't Sam, when she opened the door she was met by his assistant.

"Umm, hi?"

"He wanted to make sure you made it safely and to let you know that he would be back in a week also this was delivered for you." Kitty said nonchalantly before handing over several large garment bags along with a card and flowers.

"What is this?" Mercedes asked taking the items shooting her a confused look.

"Read the card and have a good night." Kitty replied before walking away without a single look back. Mercedes walked the garment bags over to her couch where she laid the down before smiling at the flowers and take the card out. She expected a note but instead there was just a ticket and as she carefully read it over it was a ticket to Hawaii dated for tomorrow.

"Holy shit." She said looking at the tick before seeing there was indeed a note attached.

Should you need a place to clear your head.

Mercedes looked over at the garment bags and started to open them realizing that they were all outfits meant for a vacation, a vacation someplace warm… like Hawaii. She looked at the clothes that were various shades of bright yellows, blues and pinks and smiled before realizing she had to make a decision.

"Who the hell debates a trip to Hawaii?" She asked herself before shaking her head and deciding she'd give herself an hour to decide.

"You should've just let her go." Kitty said after getting back in the waiting car.

"You know me better than that." Sam replied with a smirk. "Just make sure everything is in place for her and I'll meet her after visiting Dwight, it's high time we I come to him first."

Soooooo... Stevie and Unique? Mercedes having a whole ex-husband? Where the hell is Marley and Anthony? Sam giving her a ticket to HAWAII?

Her parents are so understanding but they will be back and that is the only secret Mercedes had soo now like I said in the previous chapter this story is about her becoming a freak (hahahahahaaaa) Unique also is NOT to done and will also be back and being the baddie we all know and love!

The next chapter will finally have Sam and Mercedes getting to know each other better, Dwight and Sam confrontation and SMUT! ;)
