A new portal opened, and the duo landed in the middle of a front yard, seeing a mansion in front of them as the sun appeared to be setting.
"Looks like we landed in rich person's yard." Phoenix commented as their suits retracted. "Hopefully Athena hasn't caused too much damage by now."
"Is this Blight Manor?" Fighter asked, "Why did we land here?"
Before she could respond, Athena's axe cleaved Phoenix's head from her body.
"Because I'm still here!" Athena shouted as she prepared to kill Fighter Luz, only having seconds with Phoenix "dead."
The kickboxer jumped away and used the ice glyph, firing a large spike of ice at Athena! Athena used her axe and cut it in two.
"Not bad, but you'll have to do better than that." Athena said.
She ran, planning on attacking Fighter with the axe, when a new axe, seemingly made of ice, intercepted her strike.
"I will ask you one time to get off my property!" This new Luz said.
Fighter and Athena looked over this Luz, seeing she had witch ears and wearing just a tank top with jeans. The axe in her hands was very interesting, unlike anything either of them saw.
"Well, looks like you came out to party." Athena said with a chuckle before noticing she was being pushed back. "Oh, and you have some strength behind you."
Blacksmith Luz backed off and swung her axe up, knocking Athena backwards. Athena swung her axe and charged at the new Luz. Blacksmith Luz tightened the grip on her axe and blocked Athena's strike. Athena's axe bounced of the handle of Blacksmith Luz's and made sparks. Athena then went for a low swing with her axe, but Blacksmith Luz managed to dodge it. Blacksmith Luz spun her axe above her head before slamming it into the ground, causing ice spikes to grow from the ground. Athena barely dodged them before they could impale her, but it caused her to fall to the ground and gave Blacksmith Luz the chance to run and jump, fulling planning to bring the massive axe onto the chest of Athena. Athena managed to roll out of the way and kicked Blacksmith Luz, knocking her into the ice, making her drop her weapon.
"What are you going to do now?" Athena asked, a smile behind her mask.
"I'll use my secret weapon." Blacksmith Luz said.
Fighter and Phoenix, who came back to life just a second after Blacksmith Luz arrived, wondered what this weapon could be. Blacksmith Luz took in a deep breath.
"SOMEONE HIT ME!" She yelled.
It was quiet for a second, before the door to the Manor was blasted off.
"WHAT!?"
Everyone turned to the explosion, wondering just who would come to apparently saved Blacksmith Luz.
"Hehehehe, you're gonna get it now." She said to Athena.
"Who the fuck is hurting my child!" Odalia screamed, seeing the woman with the axe, "Eda, Cam, Raine, get out here! Someone with an axe is hurting Luz!"
"Odalia is your mom?!" Fighter and Phoenix asked in shock, looking to Blacksmith Luz.
"Damn, that's seems cruel." Athena commented.
"No, she's ONE of my moms." Blacksmith Luz said as she got up and got her axe. "I've got 3 moms, a parent, and 4 siblings! And they're about to kill you for hurting the baby of the family."
Athena was suddenly blasted with magic. Eda's staff had smoke coming off it from the blast.
"You hurt Luz, and you're fucking done!"
Athena for up and rolled her shoulder from the blast, looking over to see a VERY big and mixed family all looking ready to kill!
"Edalyn Clawthorne, Camila Noceda, Raine Whispers, Odalia, Edric, Emira, Skara, and Amity? Titan, that IS a big family." She commented before summoning some husks to help her, "Kill them."
The army of shadow monsters roared as they charged at the large family, yet they weren't afraid of them.
"I don't know what those are, but you don't scare us!" Camila shouted, holding her staff out to them.
'Mom is a witch here, too?!' Phoenix and Fighter thought in surprise.
Camila rushed in, a powerful surge of magic trailing behind her. She destroyed one by simply running through it. The others also rushed in and began to fight the shadow monsters. Athena used the distraction to run and swing her axe at Blacksmith Luz.
"Good riddance!" Athena said.
The axe was stopped by a blue arm.
"Don't even think about it."
Athena turned to see Phoenix in blue flame mode before Fighter Luz jumped over and punched her in the face!
"RAAH!" Fighter Luz screamed as Athena slid back.
"Thanks for the save, Mes!" Blacksmith Luz said as she stood beside them.
"You seem pretty calm about this." Fighter said.
"I studied multiverse theory for a little while." Blacksmith Luz said, "I'm not that surprised."
"That's a first but that's good. We don't have to explain them!" Phoenix shouts as the trio of Luzs charge at Athena.
Athena held her axe up, ready to block. Phoenix threw a kick, Fighter Luz threw a punch, and Blacksmith Luz swung her axe; all of them blocked by Athena as she stood her ground before she pushed them all back! Blacksmith made ice over her axe and threw her at Athena! Athena dodged it but wasn't able to dodge the side attacks from Fighter and Phoenix. They both kicked his in the stomach and didn't stop as the continued attacking her, forcing her to block their attacks as they moved away! Athena got frustrated and grabbed Fighter's leg. She stood up and used her other axe to slice Phoenix in half, even with her healing, that would provide proper time... for this. She bent Fighter Luz's leg in the opposite direction, and then slammed her leg against Fighter's knee, breaking her leg. She didn't stop as she snapped Fighter Luz's ankle, breaking her leg in another spot, and then grabbed her lower leg and twisted it, breaking her leg even further. Even a powerful Healer will struggle with this one.
"AAAAAAAAH! AAAAAAH!" Fighter Luz screamed in agony, holding her severely broken right leg! "YOU BITCH!"
The screaming gained the large family's attention as they turned to see another Luz with round ears on the ground, holding her broken leg!
"Don't worry, you won't feel it in a second." Athena said
Athena raised her axe, taking glee in what she was about to do. An Abomination tendril grabbed Athena's axe and pulled it away. Athena looked behind her and saw a girl with bright orange hair.
"I'm going to tell you this once... get off our property." Amity said.
She snapped her fingers and multiple abomination tendrils launched from behind her, forcing Athena to run to dodged them.
'She's stronger than most Amitys!' Athena thought.
'Damn, Amity looks good with orange hair.' Fighter thought, through the pain.
Too bad for her, this Amity was taken, and she was TECHNICALLY her big sister in this universe. Amity threw the axe to the ground and covered herself with her Abominations, She was covered in armor, similar to Fighter Luz's Amity. Amity ran and threw a punch at Athena, knocking her back a little with the powerful strike.
"Ugh!" Athena groaned before she hit back, punching Amity in the stomach, making her gasp for air. "You'll have to-"
A fist sprang from Amity's back and punched Athena the face before Amity grabbed her, judo flipping her into the ground!
"Holy shit! Where did you learn to fight like that?" Fighter Luz asked.
"My Aunt." Amity said, "And My little sister."
"You mean Lilith and us" Phoenix asked as she was moving to her lower half to reattach them.
"Yeah." Amity said before dodging a kick from Athena.
"Geez, there's just something about you slowly crawling to your legs that freaks me out." Fighter said as adrenaline has begun to over power her pain.
"Yeah, well you're not the one losing your organs." Phoenix said, "Pretty sure I left a kidney a few feet behind me."
Fighter Luz gagged as she actually saw the kidney but chose to ignore it as she focused her healing glyph on her leg. The damaged looked like too much to heal all together but it should be enough to at least straighten her leg out and wrapping in vines to stand. Amity ran at Athena, delivering several strong punches with Abomination covered fists.
'This is getting annoying!' Athena thought as she dodged and ducked, looking to see the large family destroying the husks. 'If all the universes I had to travel too, it has to be one with a strong Luz plus family!'
Athena ducked and swept Amity off her feet, running towards Blacksmith Luz. She quickly put the Luz in a choke hold.
"I'll admit, you almost got me." Athena said, "And if this Luz managed to make an axe like that... you're just what I need."
"Need? What do you need me for? I'm just a Blacksmith." Blacksmith Luz said as she struggled in the hold.
"Exactly." Athena said with a smile under her mask.
"Luz!" Everyone shouted, the husks gone and Phoenix back in one piece.
"Nobody moves and nobody gets hurt. I just need to "borrow" your little sister for a bit." Athena said as she made a shadow portal under her, dragging Blacksmith Luz in. "You can have back when I'm done with her."
She held the blade of her axe against Blacksmith Luz's neck, clearly getting the family to back off a little from the threat. Athena went through the portal, with it collapsing shortly afterwards.
"No!" Amity shouted, seeing her sister and best friend gone!
"Mittens!" Emira called out as the family rushed to her.
"She's... she's gone." Amity said.
"Don't worry, we'll help you get her back."
Looking to the sound, the Noceda-Clawthorne-Whispers saw two Luzs with round ears holding each other up. One had flaming hair and arms while the other dressed brutishly with a cast of vines wrapped around her right leg.
"Who are you?" Emira asked.
"Someone with a broken leg and possibly internal bleeding." Fighter Luz said, "Can anyone help?"
"I can, I'm a healing witch but please, what is going on and why do you both look like my daughter?" Camila said as she stepped forward.
"Multiverse, Athena wants to conquer, and she's been going after Luzs. Old, young, witch, human; you name it." Fighter Luz quickly said before coughing a bit, some blood on her lips. "Yep! That's internal bleeding."
"Get her inside." Camila said to Emira and Edric, "Skara, go take Amity to her room and use your magic to calm her down, those that have a wedding ring on their fingers, go get anything that can help heal them."
"Yes, ma'am." The three partners said.
Skara grabbed Amity and guided her to the mansion as Edric and Emira went to help Fighter Luz into the mansion too, Phoenix walking behind them. Camila let out a sigh, this was going to be very difficult, she saw the way the leg was broken, it might not work unless there's surgery involved.
"Bring her to the living room and set her on the table." Camila said as she walked with the twins and the other "twins."
Camila walked to the table and began to slowly remove the vines.
"Okay, this might hurt a bit, but I need to put pressure onto your leg in order to see how broken it is."
Fighter Luz growled at this but took a deep breath, repeating in her mind that this WASN'T a bad touch or one from a stranger. This was her mother, alternate version or not, she could trust the woman that gave birth to her.
"Get it over with." Fighter Luz said.
Camila did so and applied healing magic to her leg. She saw it not healing correctly and used an x-ray spell to see the bone.
"Just as I feared, your leg is beyond broken, the bone has been completely shattered." Camila said, "I need to perform surgery and install a metal rod into your leg so that you can use it."
"Are there any other options?" Fighter Luz asked, afraid of what this might do for her kickboxing.
"One... amputation."
The twins and Phoenix gasped in shock, not expecting or liking this option! Fighter wanted to cry, this entire adventure was causing nothing but problems. Not just with Athena and her crazy antics, but the mind games, the weakness she felt in comparison to other versions of herself, and the sheer madness of this whole quest!
"I'll... I'll take the metal rod." Fighter said.
"And I'll go look for Athena." Phoenix said.
Knowing that Fighter Luz was left in good hands, Phoenix turned her attention to search for this universe's Luz. From the little she and Fighter learned, this Luz was a blacksmith and Athena would use that for whatever crazy motive.
'She must need a new weapon.' She thought as she walked to a window and stood on the ledge.
She took off and flew in the sky, wondering where she could be kept.
'Maybe in one of the abandoned mines from Kure Luz's universe? They should be the same locations.' She thought.
Phoenix flew towards one of the caves and prayed that there wouldn't be any severed limbs this time.
Meanwhile with Athena and Blacksmith, the armored woman had brought the Luz to where she needed her and had a little "chat" about what she needed.
"So, here is what you're going to do." Athena said, dropping the sphere, "You're going to prepare this, I have the plans, the tools, everything you need to build my weapon."
"Why would I do that?" Blacksmith Luz asked, glaring at the masked woman.
"Because if you don't, I will kill your entire family."
Blacksmith Luz flinched at this but held a strong face.
"You're bluffing. Besides, my family has 5 witches as strong as coven heads and 4 kids that are close to that level, you'd never be able to kill them." She replied.
"Really? Color me impressed. I guess they're off the table," Athena said with a smirk under her mask. "I guess that just leaves your girlfriend. What's her name? Ah, Boscha."
"Keep her name out of your mouth!" Blacksmith Luz said.
Athena pressed a button and the ties on Blacksmith's hands delivered a painful shock that made Blacksmith Luz blackout.
"I'll let you sleep a little, after all, I need you rested for this." Athena said.
Athena decided to leave Luz and get some sleep herself, even though she didn't need it anymore. Conquering the multiverse wasn't easy after all and she did enjoy sleeping when she has the chance. Besides... they won't find her this time. She had the perfect location. A hidden fortress no one would think to find her and her lookout/guard dog, they would never be able to defeat them.
'Once my weapon is complete, it's off to the next universe.' Athena thought as she created a bed and pillow from shadow magic.
Phoenix came out of the cave, pulling an arrow out of her eye.
"Maybe I should've thought of traps she would set up."
She tossed the arrow aside as her eye healed, blinking to get it working again.
"That's one location checked. Time to check the other two. This time, I'm making sure to check for anything she has." Phoenix said, "Damn, I hate it when my eye gets damaged. My vision gets all fuzzy."
Phoenix blinked her eyes for the next minutes before she flew in the air again, heading towards the second cave and praying nothing else got in her eyes.
At the Manor, Camila was working on Fighter. She had to put Fighter under with a sedative spell but that didn't stop her from groaning and turning like she was having a nightmare. So, Camila had to create restraints for her and ask Odalia for a little help to keep Fighter calm as she performed surgery. Camila looked sad at what she had to do, because this was going to hurt the girl that is a doppleganger of her daughter. She used a spell and began dragging her finger up the girl's leg, from the ankle to the upper thigh slicing it open to the bone so she can put the rod in. Fighter's breathing got faster, Camila had to perform the sedative spell again at double the power in order to avoid her waking up, but she still stirred slightly.
"Eda, hand me the rod." Camila said.
Eda walked over with a rod, with a hinge in the middle for the knee.
"Here." Eda said, trying not to look at Fighter during surgery.
"Thank you, I know this isn't easy to see. It wasn't easy the first time with our Luz and her broken arm." Camila said as she focused back on Fighter's leg.
Camila moved the flesh and muscle out of the way, gasping in horror.
"It's even worse than I thought." Camila said, "This isn't going to help heal her bone... this may become her bone."
"What?!" Eda and Odalia asked in shock.
"The damage done can't be fully healed. The only way to save her leg is to merge the rod with her broken leg bones. Eda, get Raine, this is going to take all of us to do." Camila said, "And we're going to need to modify this. Odalia, I need you to hand me something to grab the broken bones that are too severe to leave in there."
"What about the kids?" Eda asked.
"Or that other Luz with fire powers?" Odalia asked.
"Don't tell them yet. Amity is still shaken up from seeing our Luz being taken. We don't want them to be even more shaken if they have to imagine our Luz going through this." Camila said to them
Odalia handed Camila tweezers and Camila began to dig out the bone fragments that aren't going to heal and would be in the way.
"We're going to need to modify the rod, it was intended to go against a bone and reinforce it, not become part of it."
"I'll go get Raine, their magic can help." Odalia said as she went off to find their partner.
Camila felt horrible, she was almost crying, this seems unfair for a girl this age to get this bad of an injury. An injury like this could cause someone to end up in a wheelchair. Camila wiped the tears from her eyes.
"No, I won't let it come to that."
'I refused to let my daughter lose her arm, and I refuse to let you lose your leg!' Camila thought as Odalia returned with Raine.
"Dali filled me in, how can I help?" Raine asked.
"We need you to warp this rod so it will fuse with the bone fragments that are usable." Camila said to them.
"Understood." Raine said as they summoned their violin.
They played it a little and the rod began to change. Camila moved to place the rod inside as she continued removing unusable bone fragments, seeing the rod slowly shift to become like the bone that was originally there. Raine, Odalia, and Eda watched. Never seeing this woman more focused than right now. How could she not? This was her daughter, alternate universe or not. No matter how much they tried to ignore the fact, this was their daughter, their baby, she may not be 'Their" Luz, but she was still Luz. Meanwhile with the kids of the family, they were sitting around waiting for news about Fighter Luz's condition or Phoenix Luz returning with some news on where their sister was.
"Everything will be fine... right?" Skara asked.
"Sure it will….we'll find Luz and we'll send that crazy woman packing." Emira said, trying to remain positive as the oldest.
"It's... it's Luz, she's the best fighter on the entire Isles, she's also the smartest, she'll figure a way to stop that woman." Amity said.
"Especially with that hand of hers." Edric said, "It's almost creepy how she can remove it and still control it."
Everyone shivered at the mention of it, remembering being pranked by that severed hand. The creepiest part is how it can pick a lock without Luz needing to see it. They had no idea how she managed to teach it that.
'Mom was so proud of her that day.' They all thought, remembering Eda's reaction to learning that track.
Elsewhere, Blacksmith Luz's nose was very broken after getting her face slammed onto the metal table by Athena.
"You know, I'm getting very tired of breaking your bones." Athena said, "I broke your ribs, your legs, your nose, I would break your arms, but I need those."
"You say that but I need my legs to blacksmith as well. I can't exactly do it on my knees." Blacksmith Luz said, on her knees as she held onto the metal table.
"We'll if you want to use them, just forge what I asked for. Your family and girlfriend will be unharmed if you do, so STOP being difficult." Athena said as she held up her hand, summoning shadow magic. "Just say yes and I'll heal you."
"I'm not stupid, the second I do what you want, you'll kill my entire family." Blacksmith Luz said, "I've dealt with people like you before."
"There are no people like me." Athena said.
"Belos was like you."
Athena suddenly got angry and pressed the blade of her axe against Blacksmith's throat.
"I AM NOT LIKE HIM!"
Blacksmith Luz flinched back from her shouting, seeing Athena breathing heavily and glaring into her very soul.
'Did I touch a nerve?' She thought as Athena moved her head closer.
"Let's get one thing straight, don't EVER compare me to the fake witch piece of trash!" Athena said, "You don't even know a fraction of the stuff he's done! What he's taken from me!"
"Taken? He's still alive in your universe?" Black Smith Luz asked.
"WAS. He WAS alive in my universe, and it wasn't until AFTER I lost everything to him, that he died by MY hand." Athena said, "I made sure he died in a way that would make anything I do to you seem like a blessing."
"Really? I kind of did the same to my Belos by impaling him through the chest and burning him with my fire sword." Blacksmith Luz said with a nervous smile.
"Hmm, how quaint. Still, I need you to do what you do best, so how about this? I'll make an Everlasting Oath with you, I won't touch your family, friends, and girlfriend so long as you make what I wish for." Athena said as she pulled her axe away a bit. "I'll even heal your bones before the oath, so you know I'm a woman of my words."
Blacksmith Luz didn't trust this woman, not for a minute.
Even if an Everlasting Oath was unbreakable unless the user broke it, Athena was as shady as her shadow magic.
"How can I trust you to keep your word?" Blacksmith Luz asked her.
"Hmmm, then if in return, if I DO end up hurting your loved ones, the damage I inflict on them will reflect onto me as well." Athena said to her.
"And if I refuse?"
"I kill everyone on the Isles." She said.
"But you would be breaking your word." Blacksmith countered.
"No, because I would kill everyone BUT your friends, family, and girlfriend." Athena said to Blacksmith as she pulled the axe back and held her hand out, a glowing red circle around it. "Now, do we have a deal or not?"
"Fine."
Blacksmith Luz didn't have a choice, she couldn't sacrifice everyone else just to protect her family. She just couldn't. So, with a heavy heart, she raised her hand and shook it with Athena's to make the Oath final as their hands flashed red.
"There. Your friends, family, and girlfriend are safe. Along with your bones healed." Athena said before snapping her fingers, healing Blacksmith Luz. "Now get to work, please."
Blacksmith got to work, not enjoying this but having no choice. She could only hope they find her before she completed this weapon, only imagining what damage it could do to this or any other world.
'I hope the other me's are all right.' She thought.
Elsewhere, Phoenix entered the next cave, looking around for anything. She had her fire ready for any traps while also shining light in the dark cave. She went deeper into the cave, finding a box. She blasted the lock off with her fire and opened it slowly. Inside she found a note. She quickly read it and gasped.
"I need to get back to the Manor."
Phoenix ran out of the cave and jumped into the air, becoming the fire bird itself and flew back to Noceda-Clawthorne-Whispers manor as fast as she could! She still had the note on her but didn't burn it, they needed to see this!
At the Manor, Fighter Luz shot up breathing heavily. She looked around, remembering that she was in a safe place and her leg was being fixed.
"My leg!" She said, looking at her right leg.
She calmed down a little bit, but then flinched when Odalia touched her shoulder.
"It's alright, you're safe and your leg is stitched up. It just needs to heal for a while." Odalia said in a comforting tone.
'Why does this one have to be nice while the one I know is such a bitch?' Fighter Luz thought, calming down a TINY bit again.
Fighter looked down, not sure what to think right now, everything was crazy right now and she was on edge. At least her leg was fixed up, thought it felt a bit heavier than it did before. It must've been the ride that got put in.
"How long until I'm back at 100%?" Fighter Luz said for her to hear.
"Hard to say." Odalia said, "The important thing is that you still have it."
"Yeah, glad for that." Fighter Luz said as she moved to stand up, but Odalia kept on the table.
"Stop, it's not wise to move yet. Just rest a bit longer." Odalia said to her.
"I'll be damned if I stay on this table any longer." Fighter Luz said.
Suddenly, Phoenix ran into the manor.
"I know where she is!" She said, getting the attention of the entire manor.
"Where?" Fighter asked.
"There was a note, she knew I would check places that she's already been." Phoenix looked at her, "... She's in Grom's pit."
"Grom's pit?!" Odalia asked in shock.
"Seriously?! There of all places?!" Fighter shouted.
"We both know why should pick that place." Phoenix said.
Fighter gave a nod. It was the perfect place, it was hidden, the school was typically filled, and then there's Grom, the best guard dog that a dark witch can have. It also is going to become a hassle to get past because of what happened to them in the Void. As they thought of what to do in case that ran into Grom, Odalia left to tell her family the news.
"I... I don't see any other choice." Phoenix said, "We have to fight Grom in order to save this universes Luz."
"You don't think I know that?! The real problem is how do we fight our fears when they're 1000 times worse now because of the void?!" Fighter Luz shouted at her.
"I don't know, but what I do know, is that someone is in trouble, and it's our job to help them" Phoenix said, "Yelling won't do anything."
"Well I'm sorry, I'm emotional right now!" Fighter Luz shouted as she took several deep breaths to calm down. "I just had to have my fucking leg ripped open and stitched up to fix a ridiculously broken leg."
"Then instead of yelling at me, why don't we go and kick the ass of the person that did that to you." Phoenix said.
"Gladly. Screw the doctor's order." Fighter Luz said as she moved her legs off the table to stand up.
She stumbled a little bit before Phoenix caught her.
"Alright, this is going to be hard." Phoenix said.
"I'll adjust. The rod in my leg is a bit heavy but that's a good thing. I can hit harder with my kicks." Fighter Luz said.
"Not on my watch." Camila said as she, her partner, her wives, and her kids walked into the room. "You are still on bed rest, healer's orders."
"I'm not going to stand by and let someone get killed." Fighter said.
"But you can't walk properly. I'm afraid until your leg is fully healed, you'll need to leave the rescuing to us." Raine said.
"What?" Phoenix and Fighter asked them.
"Do you honestly think we're going to stand back and let you save our Luz for us? We're coming with you." Eda said to Phoenix.
"That's insane, you don't have any idea what this woman is capable of." Phoenix said.
"And she has no idea what we are capable of." Odalia said, gesturing to her family. "We are all as strong as coven heads and the children are as strong as deputies. You saw us handle those husks before."
"Athena is a whole other level than her grunts. Trust us." Fighter Luz said to them.
"We don't care. We are going, whether you like it or not." Ska's said.
"You're really not going to give this up, are you?" Phoenix asked.
"No."
"And all of you feel the same?" Fighter asked them.
"Yes." They all said with firm glares.
Phoenix rubbed the bridge of her nose; she didn't need this right now.
"Fine, then let's go." Phoenix said.
Everyone smiled as they summoned their staff, ready to fly.
"Edric, Emira, watch over her. Her leg still needs to heal." Camila said, assigning the twins to help Fighter.
'Fucking ridiculous.' Fighter Luz thought, 'I can take them out with ease.'
The twins didn't leave her side as they flew towards the school, landing near the front door.
"Alright, there's a secret way to get in right over here." Eda said.
"You mean the Secret Room of Shortcuts?" Phoenix asked her.
"Ah, nice to know I cause chaos every dimension I'm in." Eda said, kicking the dusty door open.
"Your school handle was "Lord Calamity" for a reason." Fighter Luz said as they all crawled in through the small door.
"Lord Calamity? Oh, that takes me back!" Eda said with a smile.
"Please don't remind me." Camila said, "The number of detentions I got because of you is still unbelievable."
"It wasn't that bad." Eda said to them.
"Yes, it was." Raine, Camila, and Odalia said at once.
"Okay, lover's quarrel later. We need to be quiet if we want to get the drop on Athena." Phoenix said to then quietly.
"Right, let's go." Eda said, "Odalia, you go first."
"Why me?" Odalia asked.
"Because I'm going to be right behind you." Eda said with a smile.
"That doesn't answer my question." Odalia said.
"Maybe mom wants you to use some spirits as lookouts ahead?" Amity suggested.
"I guess that makes sense." Odalia said.
Odalia began to crawl through, giving Raine the opportunity to smack Eda upside the head, knowing the REAL reason Eda wanted Odalia to go through.
"Hey, don't act like you don't like seeing her ass too." Eda said.
"It looks good but that's not important right now. We need to focus on saving Luz." Raine whispered to Eda with a small blush.
Raine shook Their head and headed in there. Eda looked at Camila and smiled, leading to Camila grabbing Eda's head and pulled it off. She took a couple steps back, and rolled Eda's head in like a bowling ball, leading to Eda's body having to go in before Camila.
"Hmm?" Odalia let out in confusion at the noises behind her.
"Don't think about it." Raine quickly said as they continued to crawl into the secret tunnel.
Eventually, they reached the main room of the secret shortcuts and looked around. Phoenix entered in as well and looked around.
"Yeah, this place hasn't changed." Phoenix said.
Skara and Raine summoned their instruments and played notes, sending out a sonar for any husks that may be close.
"All clear. Now we just need to find which door gets us to the gym fastest." Skara said as they began looking around the room.
"Don't worry, I know this place like the back of my hand." Eda said, putting her head back on.
She opened a door, that was right in the middle of the detention room. She quickly closed the door as the detention room roared at her and looked at her family sheepishly.
"Like the back of your hand, huh?" Camila asked.
"Well... my hand does tend to leave me." Eda said.
"It's probably been a long time since you've been in here. Let's all split up and search the doors carefully." Phoenix suggested.
"That usually fails in the movies." Skara pointed out.
"We're in a room that no one else knows about, what's the worst that can happen?" Phoenix asked.
"Oh... I can answer that."
Phoenix let out an annoyed breath from that damn voice.
"Still hiding in the shadows, huh, Athena?"
"What can I say, my little fire bird, the dark suits me." Athena said, "Why have you split up when I can open the door to Gym... I look forward to it."
Suddenly, a shortcut door opened and revealed to lead RIGHT to the doors before the gym.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Amity said.
"So do I, but there isn't another choice." Phoenix said.
As they walked to the door, at the Manor, Emira and Edric were guarding Fighter... which is going about as well as expected.
"You two are seriously even more annoying than in my dimension!" Fighter said, literally strapped to the table.
Edric, who had a steak over his eye, spoke up.
"Well if you didn't try and escape then this wouldn't be happening." Edric said, "You really are just as strong as our Luz, ow."
"But angrier." Emira said as she rolled her shoulder. "Almost dislocated my shoulder."
"I warned you about getting in my way." Fighter said.
"We're just trying to keep you safe until your leg heals. You can't fight if you can't stand." Edric said.
"I can fight well enough! And I can adapt to me leg, now let me up!" Fighter Luz shouted at them.
"Our decision is final." Edric said.
"Then when I get out of this, I won't hold back."
Fighter Luz glared at the twins as she tried to get up or use her glyph gloves to get out!
'Damn these straps are too tight!' She thought, 'But, I still have my gloves on though... this will be fun.'
She moved her gloves so they were pointed at the strap. She pressed the fire glyph and let the straps burn. She sat up after wards and quickly used the ice glyph to freeze Emira and Edric to the wall.
"Aaah!" They shouted as their heads were the only thing unfrozen.
"Sorry, but I warned you." Fighter Luz said as she stood up from the table, "I've got a score to settle with that bitch."
Fighter Luz limped out and Emira and Edric looked at each other.
"We're so grounded." Edric said.
"Yep. We are." Emira said as she sighed, feeling very cold from the ice.
At Hexside, the family, plus Phoenix, arrived in the gym. It was surrounded in darkness.
"Welcome." Athena said.
The lights came on, but only on low so it was still pretty dark, but you could see Athena sitting on a stands next to a button.
"So glad you could make it." Athena said, pressing the button, "It'll make destroying you so much easier."
The button caused a cage to fall around them, trapping them and opening Grom's pit.
"And before you try and blast your way out, that cage prevents you from using magic, and for you little birdie, if you even so much as bend those bars, and I promise... you won't be able to be reborn from that result."
"Shit." Phoenix cursed.
"Language, but who says we need to blast our way out?" Odalia asked as she summoned a spirit outside of the cage.
"Cute, but that won't help you for long." Athena said before snapping her fingers. "Oh, guard dog."
Out of the pit came the fear bringer itself.
"It's amazing what you can do with a little corruption." Athena said, "Grom, make them feel fear."
Grom roared at them as it produced multiple tendrils, aiming for all of their foreheads!
"Aaaah!" everyone let out in fear.
"Stop those tendrils!" Odalia dodged her spirit as it rushed at Grom.
The spirits went to stop them, but it didn't do much as Athena threw her axe and made them disappear.
"Sorry, I'm not going to let that happen." Athena said.
It still didn't violate the oath. Grom's tendrils touched all of their foreheads as their eyes glowed, showing it their worst fears. Athena smiled, enjoying this sight... until she was punched in the back of the head.
"Ugh!" She grunted before turning around and was punched again, sent tumbling across the gym!
"I'm back, bitch!" Fighter Luz shouted with a smirk.
"You just can't help but be a thorn in my side, can you?" Athena asked.
"What can I say? I don't like dictators." Fighter Luz said with her fists up, covering them in fire. "Now, where's the Blacksmith?"
"Don't worry, she won't be harmed, so long as she does what I asked." Athena said, "Now... die!"
Athena charged at her. In Grom's pit, Blacksmith Luz was busy working on the Sphere, unsure of what this would be used for, but knowing the only way to get out of here was to do it. She heard what sounded like a war going on upstairs.
"That doesn't sound good." Blacksmith Luz said, "I can't do anything with the cuffs on, especially since they electrocute me... unless."
Blacksmith Luz gently bit down on her hand, pulling it from her wrist. It didn't make a sort of ripping or flesh tearing sound, it just POPPED off like a cap from a bottle before she dropped it on the floor.
"Alright, Handy, you know what to do." She said, motioning to the cuffs.
Suddenly, the hand came to life and stood in its fingers before crawling on the floor like a spider to Blacksmith Luz. She leaned down and showed it her cuffs to let it do its magic.
It crawled up Luz's arm to her hair and pulled out a hair pin from the bottomless pit that was Luz's hair. It crawled back down and started to pick the lock.
'Thank you, mom, for the lock picking lessons.' Blacksmith Luz thought to one of her mothers, Eda.
Soon music filled her ears, the sound of the lock being unlocked. She took the cuffs off and reattached her hand.
"Alright, time to help."
Blacksmith looked around for any kind of weapon to help her. She found a broken sword, not that effective, but it's better than nothing. She grabbed the sword and looked for a way out of the pit, following a source of light she saw not far from her. She climbed out, seeing as much chaos as you'd expect. Her family on the ground, slowly succumbing to their fears, Phoenix looking completely defeated, and Fighter Luz in the middle of a fight with Athena.
'No! This wasn't the deal!' Blacksmith thought as she glared at Athena.
With Athena and Fighter, Athena snapped her fingers.
"Oh, Grom, I have another one for you!" Athena said.
Grom made another tendril and launched it towards Fighter Luz, only for it to be cut off by Blacksmith Luz.
"You lying bitch. You broke our oath!" Blacksmith said as she stood next to Fighter Luz.
"No, I didn't. I said I myself wouldn't hurt your loved ones, I never said I wouldn't let someone or something else hurt them." Athena said as she wagged her finger. "In business, that's what is known as a "loophole.""
"Where I'm from, we call this, a death sentence." Blacksmith Luz said, before she threw the broken blade at Athena.
Athena dodged it and chuckled.
"You missed."
"Did I?"
The sword hit the button to Grom's pit, and Grom got stuck in the doors. Grom was cut in half and ended up letting go of its captives. Everyone's eyes returned to normal as they gasped, looking around to see they were back in the gym with Athena glaring at Blacksmith and Fighter Luz.
"LUZ!" Everyone, but Phoenix, said in relief.
"Fighter?" Phoenix said, confused and surprised she is here.
"I may not be able to hurt your loved ones but I can still HURT YOU!" Athena said as she summoned her axe!
Athena was about to run at her, but was hit with a kick in the side... and sent flying to the other side of the gym. Everyone looked over at Fighter, who was stunned at what she just did.
"…..What the fuck was that? I didn't even use the power glyph." Fighter Luz said as she looked at her right leg, still up in the air before looking to Camila.
She was the one that put the metal rod into her leg, maybe she enchanted it or something? Camila won't lie, she didn't know the spell she used to fit the rod in her leg to cause something like this. Athena groaned as she got up, but noticed the sphere. It wasn't complete, but it was good enough to the point she could easily finish it. She stood up and, despite not being able to see her eyes through her helmet, you could tell she was glaring.
"Take your family, I've got what I need." Athena said, opening a portal.
She held out her hand and summon the orb to it before snapping her fingers to release everyone from the cage. Athena ran into the portal and shut it as the family reunited with their Luz. Fighter groaned before walking over to Phoenix.
"You okay?"
Phoenix shook her head and Fighter helped her up.
"What about you?" Phoenix asked, "Are you okay?"
"Honestly... no." Fighter said, "That bitch has broken me in more than one way, but right now, we have to get going."
Phoenix agreed as she stood up, shaking off seeing her worst fear again before they rushed to the spot where Athena left and opened a new portal with their belts. Before they went through, Fighter turned to the family.
"So, I might've frozen the twins to a wall before I escaped." Fighter said, "So... you should go chip them out."
Before they could respond, the two jumped through the portal.
